Satellite P755 - Bios is not accessible, but Windows works

Hi all

I have a big problem with my computer. My Bios does not appear...
At the exit of Windows 8, I did a full format on my computer to accommodate this new OS with beauty. Some time later, I installed Ubuntu 12.04 in Dual-Boot.
One of the two facilities are doing? lost me the BIOS, let me explain:

Knowing that my computer is a Toshiba, normally, when I start, the first image that appears on the screen is the Toshiba logo and down ' press F * to access the BIOS. " But I have no more of this logo, instead, I Dual-Boot option appears asking me to choose one of the two BONES (I think it's the GRUB, I'm not sure, but he was purple, so...). After selecting one of the two BONES, I go straight to the page load of the chosen one.

I didn't get worse, so I left it because it wasn't bothering me... until last night.
My computer was getting a bit slow, I decided to format it again, but as I said, I have no BIOS, so not boot via DVD at startup. I had to format by Windows, leaving behind the Windows.old folder on the hard disk. But I wanted to fix my famous problem at the same time, so I decided to uninstall Ubuntu and install Windows 7 instead of 8.

Everything was going well with uninstall and install.

Win7 is restarted, still no Toshiba logo, and I get the Dual-Boot option, as before, asking me to choose between Ubuntu and Win7 (I already uninstalled Ubuntu), but this time, the screen is not "purple", it is black...

When I'm on the Dual-Boot, there are only two buttons that work, the F8 and F10.

When I press F10, I have this:

Change startup options: Windows 7
path-windows-system32-winload.exe
Score: 2
hard drive: 97f097f0

/ Noexecute = optin

When I press F8, I enter the menu of Windows repair, where there restore Windows, command prompt, repair Windows, etc...
I tried a few things, typed on the command line like fixmbr, etc, but nothing worked

I'm stuck on Windows 7 without Bios and a Dual - Boot does not work, I don't know what to do...
I've looked everywhere where my problem comes from, but does not have the awnser.

For more information, I have a Toshiba P755.

Well, I hope someone answer, even though I know that this problem is a bit weird...

Thanks in advance to all who will try ^^

I think that the dual boot is always available in the Master Boot Record (MBR) and so this double menu boot appears to turn on/off the device.
But this should not prevent the notebook to access the BIOS.
Usually, you can access the BIOS by pressing F2 while turning on the laptop.
I recommend that you press this several times in the line.

However, I think that the reason why the Toshiba screen projection does not appear is simple: in my view the QuickStart has been enabled in the BIOS.

You will find the option called startup speed in BIOS-> Advanced tab.
Usually its normal value.

If his play on Fast, the BIOS should start from disk built-in HARD (or SSD), the laptop would support only the LCD and keyboard internal and does not display Toshiba Startup logo. Therefore, put again to normal.

In which case you would not be able to access the BIOS by pressing F2, I recommend to remove the portable computer HARD drive and turn on the unit without the HARD drive.
Then press F2 to enter the BIOS

Your comments and good luck would be appreciated,

Go to computer management, disk Services and check the drive in the list. Then partition and format the drive if necessary.

  • Satellite 1605cds: RAM has not reported in Windows 2000

    Hello

    I have a 2nd hand Toshiba Satellite 1605cds/4.3 (amd k6-2 450 mhz basic system).
It has 32 MB of ram on board and a dimm slot - so put in a memory of 128 MB.

But I read this Web page:

    http://fandelem.com/toshiba2.html

where it says it can be improved with a 256 MB memory module!

I have it plugged in and it correctly sees 288 MB (32 MB onboard 256 MB on housing) in the bios.
When I boot from the partition of Windows 98 Second edition, it shows the 288 amount of ram.

.. .but when I boot on the partition of Windows 2000 Professional, it displays a blue screen saying that the bios is not an improved ACPI bios. It says that I have to push the F7 key during the installation of Windows 2000 to disable ACPI and install HAL.

But if I remove the 256 MB slot, Windows 2000 starts correctly without any problem.

I tried to reinstall Windows 2000 by pushing the F7 key during installation, but then Windows 2000 shows that the 32 MB of ram.

So, what can I do to run Windows 2000 and 256 MB module?
The bios is the last that can be downloaded on the web page of toshiba.

Thanks to all and sorry for my English.

    Hello

According to your description W2k said to update the layer HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer). In Windows 2000, there are several ways to solve the problems associated with the material (HAL, Hardware Abstraction Layer) Abstraction layer that may occur due to bad detection, an obsolete or non compliant Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) or incorrectly installed computer type or manually.

For more information, please see this Microsoft support site:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/237556

But as I know Toshiba supports the 128 MB only on this unit and if you want to use more ram you can do at your own risk!

  • Satellite A210 - BIOS does not work after upgrade

    Hello

I have a satellite A210-17 for a few years now, but I made the mistake to go to the Microsoft Web site
to make a BIOS setting to day and once I installed upgrading BIOS, that the laptop did not return ever on, black screen.

I brought a guy in the month city 3 or 4 he is, he said, it could replace a bios chip if necessary
but did nothing or I would have heard of him now.

Is it possible that I can get the bios chip and have him install for me?
I don't have 200 euros to replace the whole motherboard.

This laptop was brilliant before that.

    Thanks in advance

Update the BIOS is a very serious procedure, and the use of fake and not compatible BIOS would damage the motherboard.

To be honest, I don t think that the replacement of the EPROM would help you that of course, the BIOS is stored on EPROM module but in most cases this chip is soldered to the motherboard and the EPROM replacement will not be easy

To my knowledge the EPROM module could be flashed once more using the crisis disk BIOS and the special procedure. Usually, these updates of the crisis of the BIOS can be done by maintainer authorized Toshiba and that don t require the replacement of the EPROM module.

I also read in this forum that some guy tried to Flash the EPROM module to clean hands in some cases, it worked, but in different cases such update does not work correctly

However, I recommend you to use the advanced search option forum and check a few different discussions on crisis disk BIOS / update

Otherwise I recommend you contact the Toshiba ASP in your country and products BIOS Update of the crisis

    Hello
I tried to search Toshiba A665-14R drivers but drivers are not available for Windows 10, if I'm looking for the section Drivers on the toshiba Web site and select my computer model A665-14R then no driver rises, I think toshiba assuming that A665-14R cannot install Windows 10 rather I have 8 GB of RAM & CPU Intel i7 with a 3D graphics card! Its really annoying that I can't scroll down pages because the Synaptics pointing device has no update
    Any help please?
    Thank you

This model is quite old and has been supported for Win7. I can just say... no luck. A lot of older machines may well work with newer operating systems, but they are not officially supported.

What should do? Try to check if the drivers, tools and utilities for a newer machine with similar hardware can be used on your laptop Satellite A.

I had the similar problem in the past with Vista and no supported Win7.

    Hello

You are able to access the advanced boot menu by pressing F8 while turning on the unit?

If you are able to do so, you should try to start the computer using one of the advanced options available in the start menu.

You can try to start the laptop computer using the last known good configuration or you can try to repair the system by automatically selecting the repair my computer option, you can try to start the machine in safe mode to access important data on the HARD drive.

Finally (after data backup) I would recommend to recover the laptop using the Toshiba recovery media

  • Satellite 2800 - BIOS does not recogize Toshiba 40 GB HARD drive

I have an old Toshiba S2800 (if-200 questions in total). He was works very well with a 10 GB HARD drive for ages. Yesterday, I thought that putting his hard drive to a bigger.
Removed the old and installed a new hard drive, Toshiba MK4026GAX. On the power on the BIOS does not detect the HARD drive at all. I can hear the humming noise (platter (s) rotating), but apart from that, there is nothing. The BIOS indicates disk mode HARD is "unused" and also on page 2 is none shown on the primary hard disk IDE channel. (tried to boot Linux from a CD to see if who sees anything on the IDE channel, but apparently the primary IDE channel is disabled if the BIOS does not detect a master or a slave connected device). Change the mode of the master to the slave na HARD drive? t change a thing.
The BIOS version is 2.00. Tried to find an older one without success.

I thought that the BIOS has a limit of 32GB, but when I connect a 120 GB hard drive (WD scorpio), it has been recognized by the BIOS and the PC was ready to boot from the device.

I would have thought computers laptop Toshiba were at least compatible with another device (e.g. hard drive) Toshiba

Someone has any idea how to operate?

    Thanks in advance!
    Robbie

    Hello

It of very strange that the 120 GB HDD has worked on your old Satellite 2800 unit.
I know that the BIOS would not recognize these large HARD drive sizes.

In any case, seems the purchased disk is not compatible with your laptop and you can buy one that is supported.
I discovered that the 20 GB HDD MK2016GAP could be compatible

    Of course you need readers.

If you have connected your router with a LAN cable, then you will need to install the LAN driver. If you want to use the network WiFi WLan driver must be installed also.
If your computer laptop doesn t supports the WLan card then the WLan driver is not required

All the drivers (if available) XP can be downloaded from the European driver Toshiba page!

  • Satellite A100 - BIOS password not accepted after computer take part

(Sorry if this question has been asked before, I searched through topics, but too many subjects was found.)

I have an old A100 for 3 years with no guarantee. I want to sell it so I took apart to clean dust. Everything for the motherboard. When everything has been cleaned and I reinstalled everything, I turned it on and the password of the BIOS has not been accepted. I know the password and it's OK to 100% and shift lock is not locked on.

Is it possible that the keyboard flat cable has been installed wrongly, the cable was - a.f.a.i.k - reinstalled right, because there is only one way to insert into the slot on the motherboard. (Sorry for my bad English)

Or BIOS confused and handed over to zero in some Toshiba service password? Is this possible?

The caps lock is locking itself led of lights up and can not turn off with the CAPS LOCK key.

    What is the solution?

    > Is it possible that the keyboard flat cable has been installed wrongly,
Connect the keyboard external usb to check (this is good if you remove the internal keyboard when checking)

    > Or BIOS confused and handed over to zero in some Toshiba service password? Is this possible?
No, it is impossible that this password has been reset. In any case, I've never heard

Can someone help me out on this, I have important data in there and don't want to lose.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

I suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check to see if they help.

    Step 1:

    A. start in safe mode and check if you are able to seize the property of the player.

    B. in addition, grant permission to everyone.

    a. right click on external drive Z: and choose Properties.

    b. go to the Security tab and click Edit , then click on Add => Advanced.

    c. If you click Advanced now click find now and choose everyone and click on Ok.

    d. then click Ok and now click on Allow -online full control => Ok.

For more information, see the following link:

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/what-are-permissions

    Step 2:

If you are able to take ownership of the drive in safe mode, I suspect the involvement of a third party software conflict and would you put your computer in a clean boot State in order to eliminate conflicts of third party software.

Note: Follow step 7 to your computer as usual.

  • Satellite P300-18 is not always launch windows

McAfee Anti-virus on my P300 18 bypassed Downloader Trojan horse.
Eventually got rid of it after the purchase of Malwarebytes Pro.

Since that time my machine; while starting, is not always launch windows on the first attempt and must be stopped or started several times or remove the battery to get windows to activate.

The dealer where I bought the machine did a clean reinstall.
I did a memory diagnostic test and no reported problems.

Also did a chkdisc who has not demonstrated that the reports.
    Also does disk cleanup.

    Is there a simple solution?

    Hello

If the operating system has been installed once more and if this didn't solve the problem starting operating system, then I recommend you to check the HARD drive.

Here is a nice tool called Drive Fitness Test that allows you to run some diagnostic procedures to find some problems with the HARD drive.
    Google for it

Otherwise, I recommend that you install the operating system using the Toshiba recovery disc.
Did you create this disc in the past? Isn't it?
Well, here you can buy this CD:

  • Satellite A200-1ax: could not get the BT working on Win XP

    Hello

    I have a Toshiba laptop satellite a200-1ax. I installed Windows XP sp2.
My problem is that I can't get the bluetooth work. I have installed a Toshiba bluetooth driver and nothing. When I try to install the bluetooth stack Toshiba the instalation stops at the driver part and won't. I tried, and left for more than 2 hours and it was not moving.

When I opened my device manager there is no place where a bluetooth connection is mentioned. In the bluetooth of the 5 information system services where collapsed and to manual start. I tried to start manually services.msc, but there was no available bluetooth service.

You have to add that I have 3 elements in with question marks Device Manager:
    1. mass storage controller
    2. feature modem on high definition audio bus
    3 PCI memory controller.

If anyone can help with the problem of bluetooth, or three missing drivers, please do :)

    Hello

    The Bluetooth should work!
The laptop supports the BT module, and I think that you have not properly installed.

Firstly don mix t the monitor BT with BT stack. You need the BT stack!
I think that you should remove the software BT OS and after that new reboot should try to reinstall again.

Then you must enable BT using the Fn + F8 key to complete the configuration of BT!

Other devices such as PCI memory controller and mass storage controller. Are not supported by Windows XP and therefore there is no drivers!
