Satellite P840 - white circle is pulsed to the screen

I turned on my computer today and there was a pulse white circle in the same place on the screen, as if to indicate that a mouse is constantly which is clicked, or someone is tapping on this spot on the screen. I don't have a mouse attached, and I almost never use the touchscreen. It will not stop, and I can't click anywhere else. Any window I (finally managed to) opened just oscillates vertically because of this incessant invisible ' by clicking on '. I took battery, but always the same.

Someone had this problem? I hope that I won't need any radical measures (such as the replacement of screen) to fix it.
Any help would be appreciated!

I don't know if I understand you well but of course, there is a background activity that does not stop. On this virtual path, it is not easy to say why this is happening.
All you can do is to force stop and try to restart your laptop.
If the same thing happen again I suggest you enter in the recovery and options - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/TSB2A03ES0000R01.htm - repair and try to fix it by using the system restore option.

Test it please and post comments.
To be honest I don't think that there is some unwanted hardware.

  • Satellite P10: clouds white and purple fading across the screen during startup

I had problems with my laptop PC-10 so I bought a new hard drive (Fujitsu 60 GB instead of 40 GB) standard and have it myself. I was working very well with it for a long time, until suddenly I have had the strangest problem that I've ever seen on a computer...

Sometimes, when you start the laptop, instead of the screen normal red "TOSHIBA" and the message to start Windows XP, the laptop displays simply little weird white and purple clouds fading across the screen, fading finally on a screen very dark, but not quite black.

I thought first it was a problem with the DVD player, like when he finally gave and started normally, the DVD drive has been disabled. However, I noticed in the BIOS, under "Advanced" the Infrared Port shows intermittently - it shows with the [Disabled] setting next to him, but will be then disappear from the list, then reappear again and then go again and so on.

Sometimes my computer will function normally, then completely shut (mouse and all) and will restart with the clouds!

I looked in the Windows Event Viewer for when the laptop has locked up and have seen anything to do with a problem with IRQS for the Infrared Port. I disabled the infrared port in Device Manager (I managed to activate in the BIOS by loading the standard BIOS settings) and rebooted, but it started upward with the clouds once again, so I have the feeling that the infrared port is the culprit - loose connection may be defective material because it is located close to the DVD player and HD player.

I was wondering if anyone has seen something like this before on any computer, and if they knew how to solve? It seems completely illogical that a defective IR port could change what is displayed on the screen on startup, unless of course there is something wrong with my HD boot sector?

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

    Tom

    Hello

I've never seen like this problem before and I don't think that this issue has something to do with the HARD drive or the IrDA port.
As much as I know the IrDA port is not available on Satellite P10 - xxx

For me, this looks like a faulty screen or graphics card.
Have you tried to connect the external display? If this isn't the case, then try to do and check if it also appears on the external display.

I recommend also to recover the laptop with Toshiba Recovery CD and then check the functionality.
But if the malfunction appears so I would recommend contacting the Toshiba ASP for control from laptop

  • Satellite A60-106: white band (r) light on the screen

Perhaps the question or the issue was discussed earlier... but I have not found the TI immediately.

Since a few days I am beeing annoyed by a white vertical stripe of bright (er) in the middle of my TFT screen. This band is about large 5 cm/2 "and is located in the middle of the screen from top to bottom. He is not related to specific programs. I have it on all my apps, same DVD and screensaver.

This is a common problem that can be cured by an update... or what I need to teturn my laptop for service?

  • Satellite Pro A210 - repeat vertical lines on the screen

I hope someone can help me.

I am a teacher and was bought by my school a Toshiba Satellite Pro A210 for me to do my school work and connect to a SMART board to teach with. Throughout its probably one of the best laptops I got through school. I got it two months.

There is only one problem with it. Its developed a rather weird problem. Occasionally, the screen suddenly freezes, and the display will be replaced by thin, alternating vertical black and white lines. The only way to get rid of them is to turn off the laptop and restart it (particularly annoying when it happened in the middle of a lesson when I've been respected by an OFSTEd Inspector!)

Technician computer school has no idea what is the cause. I was wondering if someone here might have some advice.

    Thanks in advance.

I ve the same laptop but I didn t receive similar lines on the screen.
What you could do is update the BIOS and the driver (if possible) display.

If the same problem happens again, you must connect an external monitor to the laptop.

Then check if the same lines appears on the external display. If so, then a problem of graphics card might be possible!

  • Satellite C600 - slider running around all over the screen

I was delivered just the C600 Satellite and I can't type my cursor running around all over the screen. I followed the advice of other threads without success. 'FN + F9' does not disable the touchpad, and there is no touchpad under Mouse Properties tab. When I search the computer for "touchpad", in fact, there is no answer.

    Please advise!

    Hello

Why try to disable the touchpad?

The Satellite C series there is a BIOS update that will resolve this slider skip the question. There are already a lot of discussion here in the forum:

    Hello

You can print the screen using the keys CTRL + print
Now you must open a graphics editor like paint or something like that.
In paint, click new file/photo and then use the CTRL + V keys to past the print screen.

    Welcome them

  • Re: Satellite A200-1BQ, does not not after the screen saver

Hi, I have a Satellite A200, 32-bit Windows 7 OS. When you use the screensaver to the PC stop responding. Have to spend because no response.

If you have a report some problem send it please.

    Hello

This means that Windows 7 hangs and does not answer only when the screen saver has been activated?
Have you noticed the same problem with Win XP or Win Vista?

If not then this behavior of the laptop could be related only to Win 7 and I think that it might be caused by the graphic card driver

Remove the graphics driver that you have installed and test the screen saver using the common windows driver 7

It would be interesting to know what is happening

  • Satellite P105-S6114 - gray line vertically on the screen

    Hello

I'm new to the forum so please excuse me if I look like a novice (because I am).
I have a Toshiba P105-S6114 that suddenly developed a gray vertical line about 1 inch wide and about 3 inches from the right side of the screen. It seems that if it is washed out. You can not see on white screens but is very sensitive to all other colors. It appears when you start the laptop to search on the net, I think while it is on the screen. What is the screen? or something escapes me?

Please correct me for false assumptions in my post.

I started pricing new screens. Locally for installing I got a quote of less than $500.00. I saw on ebay (new) about $280.00 aus replacement screens. Installation I expect about $100.00. If someone knows a cheaper solution, I would be very happy to hear it.

I saw a screen for a P105-s6062 that appears from the PDF file to be identical to the S6114. It is second hand, but sounds like a viable option. Does anyone know if the screens are identical, including the connections?

Someone at - it any other suggestions? I'd be happy to hear from someone as the laptop itself is large and I don't really want to get rid of it.

    > It appears when starting the laptop to search on the net, I think while it is on the screen. What is the screen? or something escapes me?
It might be the screen of laptops, but it could also be a malfunction of the graphics card.
If you first need to know what's exactly wrong.

In your case, I recommend you to connect a second external monitor to the laptop.
Then check if the same vertical lines appears also on external monitor.

If the same could not be visible on the other display, the chances are high that a graphics card is malfunctioning.

In this case a replacement of the motherboard would be necessary and this would be a costly affair!

Anyway, in both cases, I would recommend contacting the ASP in your country.

    Good bye

  • Satellite M70 - area more clearly as for the screen and guaranteed

    Hello

My laptop is a M70 and the problem of the screen: there is a fairly large space more "clear" on this subject, which sometimes moves a little or that becomes clear/more darker. The problem appeared a long time ago but continues to evolve and now affects seriously the readability of some documents, and a few other spots seem to appear slowly.
In fact, it seems that these zone can be observed with normal colors, when I change my point of view...
Is such a familiar of her problem to someone?

In addition, because of the breakdown of my power adapter, I recently bought a new, but not a good Toshiba. If I have my laptop with it to the technical service (which is requested in the warranty Handbook), can it be a reason for a refusal of warranty?

    Hello

Well, your description of the problem of the sounds strange, but of course, it could be a screen issue.
What about warranty? Is it valid?
The warranty only covers hardware problems and malfunctions.
For me, it doesn't sound like a software problem, and so the warranty should cover the audit of the laptop, repair or replacement of display.

I read about a strange color on a Satellite A100 series problems. Some pixels were light and dark a few pixels.
The BIOS update has solved this problem.

But you know, this does not mean that the Bios Update will help you.

  • Satellite M40: Errors graphics when you change the screen resolution

    Hello
    I have a Satellite M40 and a big problem.

    Windows xp pro sp2:
When a program changes the resolution of the screen, the screen is messed up.
I see only scratches and only a reboot can run back (or suspend-to-disk).

    [edit]
I plugged an external monitor to the laptop and it works,
the laptop screen is full of lines and the 2nd monitor shows what the laptop screen should normally display also
    [/ Edit]

    Linux:
This can be seen also at the change of the Xwindows mode in linux back to tty(1-6)

Here are some pictures of this strange behavior:

    http://www.ronnylindner.de/extern/images/Toshiba/screen2.jpg

It looks like a hardware problem, but would it be just a bad bios setting?

    What can I do?

    Hello

There may be something wrong with the screen of laptop computers.
I guess that the graphics card is ok because the external screen works properly.

But it s very interesting to know if you are using the graphics driver from Toshiba. If this isn't the case, please check if this problem also appears after installation of the graphics driver from the Toshiba driver page.

  • Satellite U200 - visible light through space of the screen

    Hi all

My U200 has a small space between the frame of the screen and the LCD screen.
I see a strong light, if looking at the gap at the top.
If I press the frame slightly the gap disappears and hiding the strong light.
Should I try to fix it, or most of the U200 are identical?

    Thank you
    Eduardo

    Hello

You should not try to fix it yourself!
First of all, the repair of the damage caused by yourself could void the warranty and I think that this is not what you want
In this case, you should ask the authorized service provider in your country for advice and assistance.

Second, I put t think it's a serious question. I m a Satellite M40 owner and I can see the same tiny gap.
    So be cool B-)

  • Satellite Pro 4600 - very low picture on the screen

    Guys, I really need help.

I picked up on old satellite pro 4600 eBay and have rebuilt the thing - everything works EXCEPT the screen - I get a very small image, even on the start screen.

So far I have - changed the cable lcd - no effect. changed the Panel itself, no effect and inverter (4 times!).

Any suggestions? Driver problem? Setting I missed somewhere? Motherboard problem?

Hmmm. My first thought was the faulty FL inverter.
Are you sure you used the right and compatible FL inverter? A connect it correctly?

What about the keys FN + F6/F7? It allows to set the brightness to a higher level?

Then maybe you should check for this possibility.

  • Satellite C660D-102 blocks when past to the screen saver

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite C660D-102 of Windows 7 OS. Basically, if my computer is left unattended, and goes to the screen saver, it freezes and has to be restarted by holding down the power button. If I'm listening to the music, makes a loud noise when it does this until it is turned off.

Anyone has any ideas of what could be the cause?
    Thanks, Matt

+ The message was edited: changed name of the laptop.

    Hi Matt

To be honest, this laptop T series is unclear to me. What is the correct model name or model number?
Are you using the original pre-installed OS?
Have you noticed this problem since the day where we?
Do you use the standard Windows screensaver?
Did you install additional software that is running in the background?

Sorry for these questions but it is not easy to give you simple answer and specifies what may be the problem.
