Satellite Pro 2100 jumps down and now demand HARD drive password

Hello world

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100. I have some problems when you access the Internet; When I start the Internet, there is no problem, but when MSN messenger start the laptop goes down and I have to turn off manually the laptop. This would be a kind of firewall?

Last Sunday, this problem occurred when using Skype; But now the computer has completely collapsed. The system first asked "inserting a disc system. I didn't know what they meant, so I turned off the computer a few times manually to see if it would disappear.

When I turn on the laptop, Windows will not start upward and the system asks a black screen "the password HARD drive". Does anyone know what this means and where I can find it? And means that my laptop is dead, or am I able to fix? Can someone help me?

Thanks in advance!

Hello

I know, it's the HARD drive password cannot be deleted.
If the HARD drive password has been activated and you don t know the password for the HARD drive, then you will not be able to use the HARD drive more. :(

I tried the clean boot and now the hard drive works simply and screen went black. The mouse still moves around the screen without any outher work keys? That is what it is?

    Hello

You will need to reverse the clean boot, as it is either incidental compared to
the real cause of the problem. What, where you try to fix initially using the cleanboot?

You can access Mode safe? Repeatedly press F8 as you start? If so you can try the configuration - control panel
The Device Manager - graphics card - Double click on - driver tab - click the driver UPDATE - then
Right click on the device and UNINSTALL - REBOOT.

Another method to try to get to the desktop (try in normal Windows Mode without failure) is
CTRL + ALT + DEL and the processes tab find EXPLORER.exe and COMPLETE the PROCESS on this subject - and then
on the Applications tab - lower right - new task - type in EXPLORER.exe. Safe mode is reached
by tapping F8 as you start several times.

Black screen problems are extremely difficult to repair and all patch is usually on a base hit or miss.
That there is no information on a black screen as it is on a blue screen just adds to the
Difficulty. Often using a restore point or Startup Repair will have no effect. You can try a

So, my laptop is unrecoverly dead ;(
    (Toshiba Satellite C660D - 1-3)
but the HARD drive still works (Toshiba HDD2L04 320)
the problem is, I protected with a password that I can not turn off.

I have the password, I could also save all my important files to an old crappy HP laptop running.

But now I'd like to use it as an external drive, I can't as long as it is protected (I tried a few PC, nothing worked).

When I try to disable it in the BIOS of the old HP, it asks me on a second password, a password for the master user... but I've never had one in my Toshiba :/

What now? What I have to go to a store and try an another Toshiba or is it a tool to disable the password of windows or linux?

  • During BIOS update by Satellite Pro A60 went down and did not start

    Hi all

I have a Satellite Pro A60 and I've updated the bios. To halfway the update, my laptop came down and started Hasna´t since. It only give a couple of beeps (trying to tell me the bios is damaged, I guess) and turns off again.

Tried to start with (~) key pressed (a tip I received from a friend), but without success.

I live in a country where there is no available Toshiba dealer and I rather not ship the laptop for repair.

Does anyone know how to fix this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    This doesn't sound good.
If during the POST, the BIOS detects a problem, it will normally display an error message visual on the monitor explaining what the problem is. However, if a problem is detected before it initializes BIOS video card or a video card is not present or not detected then BIOS will play through the Speaker beeps to let you know there is a problem.
Depending on the type of BIOS you have the BIOS can play beeps in a specific pattern to indicate what the problem is, or emits the signal even a few times indicating the problem.

In your case, it is possible to s you used a bad BIOS or bad BIOS procedure. Both can damage the motherboard.
To avoid such damage and mistakes, Toshiba published FAQ document.

That you should read before making updates to the BIOS!
Unfortunately, I n t think that you can fix yourself. I think you should ask to help ASP.

  • Can Satellite Pro L300-22N - I use a SATA hard drive?

    Hi all!

My hard drive is broken. Now, I want to put a new one in it. I have a SATA hard drive, but I can put it in this laptop? Because the old one was an ATA (I guess)

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

I can confirm the info given by Liam.
The L300 supports the SATA interface and you use the SATA 2.5 HARD disk

  • Satellite Pro L300 - new partition after Exchange of HARD drive sizes

Under 'Vista' with a 120 GB hard drive and needs space.

Bought a 500 GB SATA drive. I'm afraid that the recovery software will set the new drive with a 50-50 Partition. This is the case or it will allocate 50 GB to E: / and the rest to C: /?

As the manual States that if I change the size of the partition the recovery software will not re - install in the future?

    Hello

As I know the Toshiba Recovery disk always allocates 50% disk space for each partition. This means that the 500 GB drive you have two partitions with ~ 250 GB of disk space on each partition.
If not or you want to change something, you can use the Windows disk management tool:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB7101OB0006R01.htm

I think the manual means that you can use t more the procedure for recovery of HARD disk if you change the size of the partition.
But with the Toshiba disk recovery you are on the safe side and so you can always restore the factory settings every time. :)

  • Satellite Pro A100-001 - maximum capacity of a hard drive supported?

I tried looking for the Board of Directors and the Toshiba site, but have not yet found the answer. Please bear with me if the question has been answered elsewhere.

I bought an old A100 on eBay - it seems to work fine, but it has a 40 GB hard drive (not standard).

Enter the serial number on the Toshiba support site reveals the machine to be an A100-001.

I can implement it using a SATA drive.

Anyone know if I could go to a 320 GB drive, or if there is a limit to the capacity of hard disk supported in this model?

    Hello

If that s SATA HARD drive controller then you should be able to use the 320 GB HARD drive and more
As much as I know the SATA controller has no limitations, and therefore, it should be possible to use these larger sizes of hard drives.

    Hope I could help you.

    Hello

just a spare hard drive was fitted by an expert, all drivers and update of the BIOS installed on the site of Toshiba, but my wireless network card does not work.
When I try to connect via a router it says that the card is disconnected?

I went into Device Manager and of what follows is listed under devices Details ld:
    PCI\VEN_10B7 & DEV_6001 & SUBSYS_600110B7 & REV_01\5 & 36 D 029F7 & 0058F0

Can someone please tell me which card is installed and where / how do get me to it.
I don't understand how it can be unplugged?

I use a 3com officeconnect wireless 11g PC Card which works fine until the hard drive failed.

Help, please... I am due to go to the hospital Monday and I wish I could take it with me.

    Thank you

    Hello

Sorry if I write this too late. :(

He's old enough for laptop and I don't know with certainty what is the card inside, but all notebooks with wireless network inside card have a small stick of Wi - Fi at the bottom with number of WLAN card. Using this number in Google, you can identify the card.

Anyway, there is not a lot of possibilities because on the Toshiba support page there are two WLAN drivers listed for your model of laptop. Try to install both of them. One of them must be good.

    Good luck!

  • Re: Satellite L300 will not start and cannot restore HARD drive

I have a L300 which stops just to start (after that the screen flash BIOS) with a single cursor flashing when I boot from the HARD disk. I can access the bios Setup and boot from the CD. I took the HARD drive connected to my external USB adapter on another PC and I can see partitions C and D and read the files correctly. I noticed that there is a directory called 'HDD recovery' on the D drive, but I don't have a recovery CD or another program to restore it.

I found a boot of Vista recovery disc and it allows me to start a version of vista recovery but when I check the windows system can't find any errors. Also, if I choose the system restore then he says that he has no restore file.
I suspect it's the disk HARD restore being Tosh files and Windows.

    Help someone!

  • Satellite Pro 2100 strange colors and incorrect resolution on LCD internal

Since a few days, I have problem with graphic in my Toshiba. External monitor works perfectly, but at the same time my laptop made of strange colors and incorrect resolution on screen LCD internal.

This means that the graphics card is damaged? How to be sure what is the problem and what to do in such a case and not spendig a lot of money for the profesional service?

    Hello

If the image on the external screen is seems perfect so I thing t that there could be something wrong with the graphics card.
It might be something wrong with the screen of the laptop.
In this case the best way is to contact the service partner allowed in your country because it can do some diagnostic tests.

But be aware that parts like display or motherboard are the most expensive laptop parts. If you have experienced failure and if it s 100% the wrong display work so I would recommend looking for a second hand laptop with the screen on the right.

  • What is a maximum size of HDD for Satellite Pro 2100?

I want to improve my aging Satellite Pro 2100 (PS210E-00C3G-GR) with a new hard drive. The BIOS supports more than 120 GB drives?
    Thanks in advance!

Hmm. 120 GB HARD DRIVE? I don t think so. But this is only my personal opinion.
To my knowledge, the Pro 2100 was equipped with 30 GB HARD drive.

I think that the 60GB is a realistic size and could be seen by the BIOS.

In any case, I didn't find any official Toshiba information support max sizes of HARD drive and I imagine that you must test the HARD drive.
