.. Install it inside... and BIOS post "IDE1 Error '...
.. and the drive does not, of course...

.. How can I solve this problem... ??

(MASTER, SLAVE, CS, switch..?) Select... ??)
(bios and firmware are latest witch I find on the web)

.. or is that someone who have any other DVDRW drive
with the work in this Notepad...?

Hello

As far as I know a? IDE1 Errora? means that the STRANGE is not compatible with this unit. Probably the pin assignment is not the right one. Problem is that every ODD will not work on all laptops models and before buy you one, it is important to know what chances are compatible.

Otherwise, your unit is old enough (about 6 years) and I really donâ? believe that you will be able to find any compatible DVD burner. In my opinion, only way is to use an external and connect using the PCMCIA card. Sorry, but I na? t see another possibility. Maybe someone else has the best recommendation.

  • Satellite Pro 4290: dead on AC, OK on battery

    Hello

I posted this comp.sys.laptops, but without response. I just found this forum. I hope someone here has an idea...

    Here's the problem:

My trusty old Satellite Pro 4290 has started to work only intermittently on current alternative - jiggling the power connector would operate. I assumed that 7 years to plug or unplug the adapter had declined the articulation and cracked welding. So, I opened, removed enough course of the joints power connector and the motherboard had cracked on the underside of the motherboard. a quick bit of welding and it was good as new, or so I thought...

However, when he was all wound up, I had * no. * power at all - no green power light, and it was quite dead. I installed a battery and it worked fine - but it's only a very short-term solution since the battery is not recharging because there is no AC!

    I have:
    * put a voltmeter on the output of the adapter sector; Stable 15.25V.
    * put a voltmeter on the side of the motherboard from the power connector; Stable 15.25V.
    * put a voltmeter on various points of motherboard on the ground; Stable 15.25V.
    * disassembled and re-assembled 3 times to check the spleen connectors etc.
    * starts in Windows (XP Pro) and Linux (PCLinuxOS 2007) - two related works on battery only and not charging
    * Google for a manual technique/diagram without success

The Council seems to be powered and now, I'm stumped. The laptop don't owe me anything - it is 7 years and its 3 ^ rd ^ battery, 2 ^ nd ^ food and 3 ^ rd ^ hard drive! There is no need to spend a lot of money on, but if it is something simple that I'm missing I would really like to get it working again.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you.

    Andrew Woodward

    Hello Andrew

I'm sure that nobody here can give you precise response and accurate instruction how to fix this. It seems that you have very good technical knowledge and you know that you cannot do much without exact schematic manual. Unfortunately, maintenance manuals is not the public act and I'm really skeptical, you'll be able to find it somewhere.

In your case, it may be just power supply electronics issue. What you can do is check the eBay from time to time and try to get the new motherboard.

  • Satellite Pro 4290: How to solve the problem of error IDE #1

I recently purchased a DVD - ROM drive to put my optical drive Sat Pro 4290 a CD in DVD - ROM. As suspects, I am the problem if the drive is not recognized and get error IDE #1.

I can get windows XP to recognize the disk by deleting the secondary IDE channel in the material and then look up the new material again. Then installs the IDE channel and then detects and installs the DVD-ROM and works very well. I restart the computer laptop and back to square one!

I understand that it is something to do with the settings of the motherboard and someone has solved this welding pins in different locations on the IDE connectors.

I don't want to risk it and I was wondering if anyone finds an easier way to do it?

    Thank you very much

    Hello

    > I understand it's something to do with the settings of the motherboard and someone has solved this welding pins in different locations on the IDE connectors.

Set to true if not 100%. This isn't a matter of adjustment on the motherboard, but the setting of the CD/DVD drive.
The Player supports different master\slave\c-salt settings and if they are not compatible BIOS does not correctly recognize drive.

On external hard drives (for desktop) it s possible to change these settings by changing the jumper, but it is not possible for readers portable slim.
Portable settings are stored in the firmware!

I found various non-legal tools that can change the master/slave/c-salt settings but I wouldn't recommend using it.
The risks are too high so that the reader will have some damage.

So, try to replace the drive with a compatible

  • Satellite Pro A40 guard stop with the ATI driver error message

My girls having some problems with her laptop and get back to Uni at the end of week for me to have a look on.

Basically, he keeps closing sometimes with an ATI graphics driver error message. I had updated the memory last Christmas and resinstalled from scratch.

My first impressions are it is overheating and I probably need to clean the fan, was wondering if anyone had any ideas?

    Thank you very much
    Keith (South end)

Satellite Pro A40 is about 3 years old and it is possible that the unit needs to be cleaned. If the appliance is used intensively, I assume that there is more dust inside. By overheating of the appliance stops suddenly without any warning.

As a first step the device. I don't know if it's the right idea to do it alone, but if you are familiar with laptops, you can give a try. After having done that, your daughter should carefully watch what happens the next few days.

  • Satellite Pro A100-622 can not read the card SD and Memory Stick with Windows Explorer

I have a Satellite Pro A100-622 running MS Vista Home Basic Edition. I tried to use the card reader integrated with SD and Memory Stick card but cannot view the contents using Windows Explorer.

In both cases, the laptop recognizes the card and try to install new hardware. Unable to do so, he asks the drive of the software provided with the cards. Any software not provided with a card and I cannot find drivers to make the drive work.

The only application that I can find on the laptop that is associated with the player is a module of SD formatting, but I don't want to format the card (s) I want to just read the current content of them and add files.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

You can download the drivers (and especially in your case for the sd-card-reader) here:

    http://PC-support.Toshiba-Europe.com/Vista/

    and here

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp

So the other point is the service of the SD card must be enabled in the start menu-> Control Panel (change to Classic view)-> Administration-> Services-> Chip card (at this point, you must activate the service and configure it to start at windows startup).

If you have any other questions, just ask. ;)

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro A210 - error recovery after a new installation of HARD drive

    Hello

I have a satellite pro 210 (bios v1.6) has died the HARD drive.

I bought a new WD Scorpio Blue 250 GB HARD drive and ran the reinstall drive (I've done exactly this for a friends Equium a month or so back and all worked flawlessy!)

Everything worked fine until the first re-boot, went through the usual stuff:
Please wait a moment while windows starts for the first time
Then a windows background, spinning slider with waiting message please, much HDD activity
    Then the sudden error:
"Installation of Windows could not configure windows to run on a hardware on this computer."

Does anyone have ideas, what it might be?
A google search suggests the sata bios settings, but I do not see in the configuration of the bios page.
In my view, there is a new bios v2 by download - would this help?
If so how can I install it when the computer does not start vista? Or any other suggestions?

    Thanks for reading.

    Cheers, Stephen

    Hello

The SATA driver is not necessary if you use the Toshiba Recovery disk because the image on the recovery disk contains the SATA driver.
So there must be other reason for it.

In your case, I recommend setting the BIOS settings by default and start over once the recovery procedure.
Maybe something went wrong during the configuration of the OS if second installation is worth a try

  • Satellite Pro 6000: error LED message - what does this mean?

    Hello

I have gad an old Toshiba Satellite Pro 6000. Sometimes, not after a period, he died. I have gad error code because the DC IN Red flashes orange. The blink rate is 1 x 3 long short 1 x length 2 x 1 short long = 10001001 in bin = 91 h (is this true?)

Now 91 h ist the following error: 1R5 - E1V voltage is not more than 1.275V when the computer is turned on. But what the hell of this error means? What is 1R5 - E1V?

  • Satellite Pro C850 - strange problem with LAN connection

    Hello world

I just signed up on this forum because I hope you guys can help me with a really strange problem.

    I recently bought a Satellite Pro C850-1MX
It came with Win8, but given that I don't really like Win8, I bought an additional Windows 7 Pro (64 bit) license and installed on the laptop.

The problem I describe, also arrived on 8 to win, which makes it even more strange.

As soon as I connect a cable to the RJ-45 port, Windows tells me, that the LAN connection is not connected.
As soon as I unplug the cable, Windows starts looking for a network and actually found one!

So, the only way to connect to my LAN cable is... I have activate the LAN connection, wait that it detects a network (without the cable connected!) and meanwhile to connect the cable to the network port.
Now... If I disconnect the cable once again, Windows still shows its connected.

I must say, that I am a Director of professional network for more than 10 years now, so I should know my systems, but this never happened to me before. Event log shows nothing, re-installing drivers did nothing either. IM quite confused here and I hope you guys can help me.

Thanks for reading, and let me know if you need any additional info!

    Greetings from the Germany,
    Sandro

    Hello Sandro,

To be honest I confused m.

I would try to start talking about the drivers installed, since you changed the system for Win 7.
All the network devices, such as card WLan and LAN card are properly recognized in Device Manager?

As I m not wrong not the laptop was equipped with a network card Realtek-8111F (1000BASE-T/100Base-TX/10Base-T) and WLan RTL8723AE Realtek b/g/n card.
If both should appear in the device properly Manager if you have installed the drivers correctly.

    2nd question:
    You said:
    > As soon as I unplug the cable, Windows starts looking for a network and actually found one!
Are you sure that you speak of LAN and WLAN?
For me it made no further since. If the network cable is unplugged, the notebook would connect to the WLan where WiFi is enabled.

  • Satellite Pro L770-144: 8 card reader win don't recogize SD card

My computer laptop ist a Satellite Pro L770-144 and the ist IO 8 Pro 64-bit Windows.
The SD Card Reader recognize the cards. I had installed the controller with the 6.1.7600.30126 Version Realtek card reader a Windows 8.
But the cards are not recognized.
    In Windows 7 it? works.

    Does anyone have an idea?
    Greetings and thanks
    Leo L.

    Hello

    First question:
Card reader is properly recognized in Device Manager?
If it is not recognized, then you used a bad driver.

If its recognized, the driver has been installed correctly and there is another reason why SD cards cannot be used.

As far as I know the Satellite Pro L770 card reader manages different types of cards with different sizes.
    SD: 8 MB - 2 GB
    SDHC: 4GB - 32 GB
    SDXC: 64 GB
    Memory stick: 128MB - 256 MB
Memory Stick Pro: 512 MB - 2 GB
    xD Card: No.
    Mini SD: 8MB - 2 GB
    Micro SD: 8MB - 2 GB
    CompactFlash: No.
    SmartMedia: No.

As you can see the compatible SD card: 8 MB 2 GB
It seems more large SD cards only are NOT supported.

  • Satellite Pro M30 - error message: the user is not authorized to update BIOS

    Hello

I bought a Satellite Pro M30 of second hand. This one has the Bios 1.30... I would like to install the bios v1.70.

I am running Windows XP Pro SP3 and tried first update in Windows.
I however got the message "the user is not allowed to update BIOS.

This message is quite surprising given that I have administrator privileges.

I read that you can use a floppy disk to update, but I did not...

So, is it possible to update the Bios with the CD?

    See you soon,.
    R.S.

    Hello

I checked the page European driver of Toshiba and found the version of BIOS 1.7 WIN in the field of ARCHIVES.

As you can see, it's a version of BIOS Windows and not a traditional version of the BIOS (trad BIOS can be updated using the diskette).
This BIOS win can be improved only from a running OS Win.

In any case, I see that you have installed SP3. It could have a bad influence on the update of the BIOS.
Then maybe you should try to update the BIOS without SP3 installed?

Remove SP3, download the good BIOS, unzip correctly and then try to run the BIOS update file.

_Ps: If you laptop then runs without problem a BIOS update is not necessary! _

  • Satellite Pro 4300: error - NTLDR missing

    Hi all

I have an old Satellite Pro 4360, P3 700 mhz.
I'm trying to upgrade the Bios to install Ubuntu Linux.

However, by following the instructions on the download of Toshiba Bios, IE change the boot sequence for the floppy drive with the disc in the drive that contains the update files, I can't update and just got the message:

    NTLDR missing

    Someone help with this?

Also, when I try to run the live CD, after changing the boot sequence in the CD-ROM, I get no response and the computer continues to boot from the disk with Windows 2000 Pro?

    Someone help with this?

    Hello

"NTLDR is missing" usually means that the "NT Loader" of an operating system with the kernel NT or NT-technology cannot start the operating system. (Such system NT could be Win NT, Win XP or Win 200o)

But it s strange when a drive reports an error message. What was on the disk before? Was the drive some disk before starting? If so, then proceed as follows:

Format the drive in Windows 2000 with the option to make a disk and copy the files from the BIOS on this subject. Then boot from the disk and update your BIOS. Ususally it should work.

Please give a few comments if you managed...

  • Satellite Pro L850 1DR - problems with Windows 7 update KB2887069

I have problems to install the KB2887069 update.

It seems to install OK... prompt me to restart... when I do it, says it configures... GETS to 7%, then starts rebooting... watch it configures again... up to 7 or 9%... and then reports it is defect and restoring... restarts again... and it is quite... not installed and reference to Windows Update confirms it failed.

All the other updates I had installed today very well once I realised KB2887069 was the problem and failed to update.

I am running Win 7 Prof Serv Pack 1 64 - bit on a Toshiba Satellite Pro L850 1DR. I use my AV Microsoft Security Essentials software.

For now I had to hide the update... but all of the bright ideas how overcome the problem. I tried the Microsoft site, but there is still no answers who brought a solution for me.

    Thanks in anticipation!

I googled around for KB2887069 update and it seems that you are not alone with this problem to Microsoft Update. I also found your request in the forum, Ms.

In other words, that's not a problem of mobile by this must be resolved by Microsoft.

I read in the MS forum on this issue and this issue is still under investigation.
