Satellite Pro 4600: second Ram-Bank is not active?

"Hello,

I have 2 Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600. Each of them has two banks to install two memory Modules RAM. But the only active ist. Both laptops...

I think that Don t, they're broken, but is there a way to activate the second Bank? The active bank ist of black color, the inactive Bank is white in color. I tested all banks on each laptop, but it's the same on the second laptop.

Here, someone who can help me? Thank you!

Hi Dieter

As much as I know there is no option to turn RAM slots. If the RAM is the right of a y (compatible) shouldn't be a problem.

I don't know that you are trying to use but is a module that is compatible with this unit:
PA3004U - 1 M 06 64 MB
PA3005U - 1 M 12 128 MB
PA3069U - 1 M 25 256 MB

Good bye

  • Satellite Pro 4600: 2nd RAM slot inactive - how can I activate it?

    Hello!
A few days ago, I bought a Pro 4600 opportunity with 2 x 128 MB of RAM. Two of them are working - but not together! Only the slot A working and accepting both Rams when I insert them. The user who I bought the laptop told me that they worked before it was erased from the system.

    How can I activate it?

Thank you very much in advance,

    Flo.

    Hello

It s not necessary to enable the second memory slot.
After you have installed the memory module slot should accept the module and it must be shown in the BIOS.
The two modules of work in the first place. In this case, both are ok and not in default. It is also possible to upgrade memory 256 MB.
Well, in my opinion, the second slot memory is dead.
Unfortunately, there is nothing to see :(

    Hi guys,.
I am not able to set up authentication WPA on my Satellite Pro 4600. This possibility is not in the network authentication drop-down list in the Properties dialog box (only open and shared).
Is there a support for WPA in the bed of the laptop LAN card?

    Hello

Since the machine is a little older, I Don t think that your wireless network card is able to do the WPA encryption.
There should still be a way to get the WPA for you. You can switch to another card that is capable of WPA and perhaps other speeds as 54 M/bits or faster.
You can find these cards, mini-pci, for example, prices very low @ Ebay or in some computer stores.

PS: It would be interesting to know what wlan card is installed on your system. So please check your device manager and tell me what type of card you have.

  • Satellite Pro 4600 Wireless?

Hi, I bought a Satellite Pro 4600 second hand last year and have been happily using it to connect to my network of the University via the ethernet cable. However, I have recently bought a new desktop PC and found a buyer interested in my laptop computer for home use on a wireless network. How will I know if he can use my laptop to connect to a wireless home network? It has a sticker on the saying

    PA3070U-1MPC
    ... content radio MPC13A-20 device
and then a load of other codes and down 'WiFi', "The Standard for Wireless Fidelity".

However when I go into Device Manager is no wireless network card, only the standard ethernet card I used. Yet PA3070U-1MPC is the code for a Wireless LAN Mini PCI card?

  • Satellite Pro 4600: Question about upgrade RAM, CPU, motherboard

    Hello

I have a SP4600 and because I love this machine, I want to give him the chance to stay with me - but unfortunately, it will only work by increasing its performance...

Is anyone here has made some experiences in upgrading a SP4600 more than 512 MB of RAM?
I know that this machine uses PC100 SD - RAM that is available up to 256 MB.
But someone has tried successfully to put in PC133 memory? And if so, to were the limit?

And more: what about the upgrade of the rest, for example, the CPU or the whole motherboard?
Currently, his heart beats with 700 Mhz (Celeron). Would it be as easy as just another graft?
Or would it be easier to exchange the whole motherboard?
I've never done anything like this before and I'm not sure how the rest of the system can react on these interventions, in particular because the we-board-video and sound on board...

I would be delighted if someone could give me some positive feedback on these issues...

    Hello

You can only use the memory 100 Mhz modules because the FSB is limited to 100 MHz.
If you use 133 Mhz modules, they will work only at 100 Mhz.

You can upgrade the satellite Pro 4600 until 512 MB (2x256MB)

Other devices such as the CPU or GPU are not extensible and the motherboard may be replaced only with the same motherboard

Finally, you should know that the laptop technology is a little different and you can't compare it with any desktop computer. You can update some parts such as the memory or HARD drive, but that s all the

  • Problem with RAM Pro 4600 - Original RAM is not compatible!

Hi, first sorry for my English.

I ve had some problems with original module Toshiba PA3069U-M 256 MB of RAM for my Toshiba Satellite Pro 4600.

History: (# = number of RAM)

#1 was delivered to the original box from Toshiba and works in the slot A and B without any problem, but was damaged after only 2 weeks (!) --> Distributor sent me a new: #4

#2 has been delieverd by the same distributor (same tine as #1), but only in the bag to shield static orginal. The laptop shows that the RAM is incompatible in the slot A and B--> I return

#3 was delivered by another distributor, a few days after #1 was also damaged in the original Toshiba box. It still works fine in both slots.

#4 was delivered yesterday, but only in the original static shield bag. The laptop shows that RAM is not compatible in both slots.

The RAM in the box and the RAM that in static shield bag are two RAM Toshiba original from the manufacturing, seems to be quite the same. But still those in the area of work others are incompatible even after a BIOS update.

Someone had the sampe problem or can help me?

    Hello

This seems very strange! The PA3069U-M 256 MB Ram Modules must adapt and work! So it may be that no work modules were damaged by sending by mail just packed in Toshiba box modules that work!

  • Satellite Pro 4600: sometimes applications stop running with the new RAM

    Hi all

I was wondering if anyone out there can shed some light on my problem. I've recently upgraded for an extra 256 MB on my Satellite Pro 4600. The laptop showed the increase in RAM. Since the installation, for some reason any after running for awhile applications (this varies between 10 minutes to a few hours like laptop start up), applications stop running. I can not open new applications. When I restart, I can run the applications in my laptop as usual again.

I received my offtek RAM. Manufacturer part number is the same as specified in the manual of my laptop.

    Please someone has an idea?

  • Satellite Pro 4600 - how to extend RAM memory

I want to increase the RAM in my old Satellite Pro 4600.

-Someone could advise me which of the (actually existing) types of RAM cards are suitable?
-The laptop has a maximum memory limit, or I can go up to 1 GB (for example)?

    Thank you.

Of course, there are some limitations to upgrade!
You can upgrade the memory on this laptop to max 512 MB (2 x256MB)!

You can use PC133 144 pin SODIMM as mentioned modules [here: | http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=28447&ft=m&st=3]

Memory locations must be placed at the bottom of the unit.

    -Turn the computer
-remove the screws which fix the plug memory module cover
-slide you finger under the hood a lift it off.
-mount the fittings of modules in connectors of computers at a 45 degree angle, then press the modules carefully to ensure a good contact
-push the module down so it lies flat. Locks on each side will engage in the place to fix the module.

    All that... easy s ;)

  • Satellite Pro 4600: I want to upgarde the RAM

I want to upgarde the RAM on my satellite pro 4600. It currently has 128 MB of RAM.
Anyone know what kind of memory card should I buy and how to install it?
    Should what size I go?
I've been in the PC World and they weren't much help.
Any ideas / information gratefully received.
    See you soon,.
    Bob.

    Hi Bob,

The following link will take you to a page containing all relevant information on memeory upgrades for your 4600 (including part numbers.

    http://www.orcalogic.co.UK/ASP/ProdType.asp?ProdType=5778&ft=m&St=3

I think that your device has two memory slots, and I assume that you currently have a home in use with 128 MB of RAM installed (the 4600 had 64 MB or 128 MB).

RAM modules are available in sizes 64 MB, 128 MB and 256 MB.

The maximum that you can install is 512 MB (i.e. 2 X 256 MB modules. The amount that you need will depend greatly on what applications run you as well as what operating system, but the usual recommendation is a minimum of 512 MB for windows XP (at least for the earlier OS).

The RAM modules are normally accessed from the bottom of the unit. Normally, there is a cover with 2 or more screws. Check you manual for the exact location on your device.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite Pro 4600 Wireless card does not work with WIN2K?

I have a Satellite Pro 4600 with UK dealer PA3070U-1MPC wireless operating with Windows 2000 card

The wireless client Manager detects the network from my wireless router and the signal is excellent and I see all the Green swhowing bars.

But I can't mske a connection in 'connections' wireless says "network cable is disconnected.

the router works well with other laptops in my house.

I have the latest version of Win2K also downloaded and installed the latest versions of client manager and WLAN driver for win2k to the toshiba Web site.

'Support of toshiba in Turkey' told me ' I need another driver for Win2K for my driver wireless card cause win2K on the toshiba site isn't for "thie" wireless card ". I have been waiting for this for 3 weeks now and couldn't join the UK level 3 elusive support who supposed to have this driver. I saw on the internet is the same wireless card was sold as an accessory "made by toshiba" and he said that it is compatible with Wim2K

What I then please? It works with Win2K, is it "another driver" and so on?

    Thank you

    Hello

I don t think that there is something wrong with the driver because you can receive signals from router (green bars). If the driver WLan would be a mistake if wouldn t receive all signals.
Please check device manager. If the wireless card is recognized if you are using the correct driver and the driver has been installed correctly.
    Please see this page:
    http://209.167.114.38/support/TechSupport/TSBs/all/-TSB000705.htm

In my view, the message "network cable is disconnected" appears because your (NOT wireless) LAN cable is not connected. This post has nothing to do with the question of Wlan.
You should check your WLan settings again.

  • New DVD drive not recognized on my Satellite Pro 4600

    Hi all

I recently bought an engraver of DVD in NEC ND-6650 nine.
This drive is NOT recognized by my Satellite Pro 4600 at all - neither Windows 2000 nor in the BIOS (v 2.60). BIOS updates higher than the 2.60 version are not provided.
Does that mean I can forget about using the new writer in my old notebook?

    Thank you and best regards,

    Nils

    Hi Nils,

I suspect that your new drive may be not be compatible with your laptop. Like all scanners to your new drive will be configured as slave or master (or CSEL possible), and this configuration should match your laptop.

Usually your hard drive is configured as master on IDE channel 0 with optical drive is the slave on the same channel device. However, you may find that your optical drive is configured as master on the IDE 1 channel.

Normally the setting is preconfigured by the manufacturer so you will need to check both the conficuration of your new drive and the configuration of your original drive to make sure they are the same.

  • Satellite Pro 4600 WiFi not detected

    Hello
As I am new to using the WiFi, can someone help me please?

Our office has a Wifi environment. Passed on the WiFi system on the left side of the computer.
From what I hear the computer should then register automatically. Nothing happens. Should I change all the settings in my computer? In Windows 2000 Help.

Like the WiFi system should also be automatically used when you walk into some of the points of sale restore quick/coffee I wonder where it hurts.
    Looking forward to your advice.
    Thanks / Peter

    Hello

as a first step, you should check if your Satellite Pro 4600 has a built in Wifi card. Here, you have to look in the device manager - network and search for a Wifi card because some of the 4600 PS were only sold with a praparation of Wifi!

There you can also see if any problems with the place a hard ware.

Then check your network settings for the Wifi card. Go to your network administrator and ask your network settings.

  • Satellite Pro 4600 - CPU overheating graphics card?

16 days ago my tosh Satellite Pro 4600 has lost the ability to maintain 25 fps in a game online - IE. Diablo 2.
He now plays to an average of 4 frames per second and ping gets up to more than 4,000... Needless to say that now, unplayable...

I reinstalled the game... installed new XP and game on the D drive...
Same thing... a program called SpeedswitchXP shows CPU use fluctuating 54 to 420, because the clocked processor slot general tab of my computer displays 422 now, not the 847 mhz it used to.

Still, he surfed on the net and plays yahoo games of cards for example. at lightning speed, but not a rpg online... there work perfectly at 25 fps on average for 3 years... Irretrievably overheating / damaged CPU, graphics card?
Anyone know? Another temp. program shown running at 64 c is worth a new motherboard?

I can get one? Any ideas?

    Hello

First of all, he should know that the processor and GPU performance are dynamically.
This means that the speed and the performance changes if the temperature reaches a critical threshold.
This could lead to performance degradation.

In your case, the laptop is about 3 years old and I think that it s time to clean the fans to prevent the notebook from overheating.

You can try to use the jet of professional compressed air to get rid of dust and debris.
Such spays you can buy computer retailer.
