Satellite Pro 6100 displays a "Built-in HDD Password" message whenever I start
Hello, my computer displays a "Built-in HDD password" message whenever I start. I never set any password on the hard drive in the past, although in desperation to try to get the laptop running, I tried all possible passwords but there is no answer, I would be grateful for any help or advice. What should I do?
Well, I put t know what you did on your laptop, but as far as I know it's not possible to remove the HARD drive password.
In this case, the HARD drive is not usable, and therefore a new HARD disc has to be ordered.

Satellite Pro 6100 - error "password HARD drive built-in" at startup
Hi, my laptop (Satellite Pro 6100 P4 - M 1.7 GHz/15TFT/256 MB / 40 GB/DVD-CDRW/LAN/WiFi/BT/W2K or XP) started rather recently invited me with a "Built-in HARD drive password" message at startup upward. I never put no password on the hard drive in the past, though only in desperation to try to get the laptop running, have tried all the possible passwords I have ever had. Nothing works and I'm failed with a laptop dead on my hands. I would appreciate any help/advice anyone can make.
Thank you.
Hi Khurram
Unfortunately I think that you will need to replace your hard drive. If your laptop is definitely ask a HDD password then there is no way around it and the only way I know to recover from this situation is to send the hard drive to a specialised company that specialize in this kind of recovery (usually for forensic purposes, Police, armed forces, etc.). This can be very costly.
The easier (and cheaper) option would be for you to replace the hard drive and restore your system and your data (either from a backup if you have one, or from the Toshiba recovery disks).
Kind regards

Satellite Pro 6100 does not start - power light flashes
Hello
I have a Satellite Pro 6100 when I press the power button and HDD lights up briefly then powerlight blinks.
It seems to Flash a pattern: on (2 sec) flashes (2 seconds) then off (about 8 times)What he told me? No fan, no display no hardrive is active.
Food is ok because it load battery.
I bought it as it would be something easy to fix ideas?Hello
It sounds bad
Generally, the power led will blink due to a malfunction of the equipment.
The LED provides a microcode and only the technician can read this code.
A common user is not able to read.Maybe you'll be able to read this code, but you won't find any description about the meaning of the code.
I recommend you contact the technician in your countryBut try this:
Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter.
Wait severla times and then plug in the battery and plug in the AC adapter.
If this does not help, you have aks, a complementary technician... -

Signal not detected on Satellite Pro 6100 wireless
I have two laptops Satellite Pro 6100, two of them are configured to automatically connect to our local wireless router which they both started.
A computer is used by myself by my wife; bookmarks, email accounts and so on are different on every computer/hard drive.I have problems with one of the computers (mine) - the usual problem with multispindle connectors on the video boards and feeding, then I tried to use "his" computer with 'ma' machine's hard drive.
His machine does not recognize our LAN with my hard drive installed. He came up with a new network found, but not a wireless network. Also, with this machine and my hard drive installed, can't the machine to search for wireless LANs, the icon does not appear. The switch is turned on for wireless signals and it works very well with his hard drive in it. The network is protected, and the two machines have the same id in them for connection which work fine in the original engine.
I don't really understand this condition. Something in the bios? Something on my hard drive that is not recognized by the computer? the wrong phase of the Moon?
Suggestions how to trouble shoot and fix this? Both machines are XP Pro on them, latest updates.
Hello
Also AFAIK, Satellite Pro 6100 was equipped with different Wlan cards so if use different HDD with different driver then the Wlan card could not be detected by Windows XP.
Check if the wireless adapter is listed in the Device Manager and recognized correctly.

Mike.Hello
I put t really understand your problem
The European driver from Toshiba site provides all the important and necessary drivers for the Satellite Pro 6100.
I assume you mean on the XP drivers
Install all.In a first step, I recommend the installation of the common Module Chip Set Utility, display driver and then continue with the rest
If you have installed SP2 please check the "Microsoft Windows XP SP2 update information" because some tools need to be updated.

Dear friends,
I am trying to solve this problem:
When I connect to the satellite Pro 6100 a 3rd party bCool XG1 DLP projector (a very good) I can see everything fine except DVD.
I better explain: I can see the movies on the screen of the laptop, but nothing on the wall...
Notice that I can look at these files directly on the screen, but on the wall...:
MPEG files (Quick time Yes, but not WinmediaPlayer);
AVI files (Quick time Yes, but not WinmediaPlayer);
MOV files (Quick time Yes, but not WinmediaPlayer);DVD: (With Intervideo Windvd) Ok on the screen, but no output from the projector.
Note that if I use the small window mode, the projector output image is correct except inside the window that is displayed in black (but is OK on the screen of the laptop).
Who can help me?
Thanks in advance.
Stefano
Hi Stefanohf,
When you pass the output mode you have with keys FN and F5?
also what settigs are set in the display driver? Right click on desktop, properties and parameters.
go to advanced and nView. There should be active clone!
Try this!
Goodbye, Sam

Satellite Pro 6100: screen stays completely white or completely white
I have a Toshiba Satellite pro 6100 running windows XP with SP2.
For the last time, when you turn it on, sometimes the screen is totally blank and sometimes she is totally white.
Must shut down the computer and try to reboot, sometimes several times until the computer starts correctly.
Could you please tell what it is and how to fix it.
Your answer will be highly appreciated.
Thank you.Hi, Louis
I think that we should first find out if the problem is related to the graphics card, for the internal display or on the part of the screen!
In such cases, it s a good idea to connect the external monitor to the laptop.
Check if the symptoms appear also on the external monitor. If the same thing will happen on the external screen so I guess that the computer laptop s video card is malfunctioning. But if the image appears correctly on the screen then the problem could be linked to the internal LCD display or the small part as FL inverter.
Check it out

'Bad RTC battery, check the CMOS' on Satellite Pro 6100
Hello... I just got a Satellite Pro 6100 and when it is started I get an error message:
RTC BATTERY BAD
BAD CHECKSUM (CMOS)
Check the system. Then press the [F1] key
_I can still use the laptop for about 15 minutes, but then it crashes. I did some research and discovered that it is the power supply Board. But my laptop is out of warranty and the reminder is now officially over.
Y at - there someone who can help me?
Thank you
LiamPublished by: admin
Hi Liam
Hmmm... I think it s not a Council but the battery of the CCF.
Take a look in the user manual. There you should find something that exactly the message is displayed if the battery RTC (BIOS) is not charged. The RTC battery, you must connect the power adapter and should run the laptop for about 24 hours.
After that the main battery has been charged, then the RTC battery starts to load.It will take a little longer.

Toshiba Satellite Pro 2100 - display driver resolution - help!
My laptop screen is 15 inches and resolution 1024 x 768. He worked always good. Until I installed Windows XP SRV 2 once again. Now, the screen only works with 969 x 768 pixels. Without the ability to use the whole poster resolution. So I downloaded and installed the toshiba display driver. But still the same problem. (Black band on the right side) part of the display resolution remains unused and remains black.
I tried everything in the display settings of display resolution, but the law remains black strip unused
This unused black band is om the right side of the screen.
The rest of the computer laptop good workt without problemA frend of mine has the same problem with a toshiba Satellite Pro 6100. After insalling Windows XP and the appropriate driver, the screen leaves a band black and unused.
Can someone help me please?
Thanks in advance.Hello
Can you please check under display properties > settings > advanced > monitor, is there possibility to activate the option Hide modes that this monitor cannot display.
If you want, save your data and reinstall OS with recovery CD. Check if your monitor is working properly and there is black band again.
I ve done the installation of SP2 several times without any problem. It is not a simple to determine what can be wrong with it.If you reinstall the operating system and there is no black band again, please let me know. I am very interested about your problem.
Good bye

Satellite Pro 6100: keys Fn does not
Hello
Ive got a laptop Satellite Pro 6100. IM of problems using the secondary function keys (I'm not sure what they call them!). When I press the function (Fn) key, the light below the F10 button as it should, but when I press one of the brightness of i.e. F up/down buttons, nothing works!
I had a quick glance at some of the tool and using keyboard in the Control Panel, which suggests that the driver may be incorrect, so I tried looking for an updated driver, but windows says: I have the latest version of the driver.
Anyone else have this problem with the SP6100? Can it be fixed? If so, how?
Any help would be great.
Thanks - Kavi.

Satellite Pro 6100 screen compatibility
Hello!
Is there a place I can check the compatibility of the screen for my Toshiba SP 6100?
I have damaged a screen on one of my laptop and I would like to replace it.
Thank youHello
The problem is that the Satellite Pro 6100 was delivered with four different views.
14.1 ' (1024 x 768) color TFT display.
15.1 ' (1024 x 768) color TFT display.
15.1 ' (1400 x 1050) TFT color display.
15.1 ' (1600 x 1200) TFT color displayI found information that a P000334230 (LTN150X4-L01) screen is compatible with your device.
http://www.getpartsonline.com/p000334230.htmlBut I recommend to ask Toshiba service partner in your country for compatible screens.

Satellite Pro 6100 - problem starting (light flashing Orange)
On my laptop Satellite Pro 6100, seeing DC IN (first on the left) flashes orange and the laptop does nothing else (no display or sound). The light flashes for 8 times, has a long pause and then starts all over again.
I tried a different adapter with no joy. It does the same thing if you use only the battery and if you run from the adapter without the battery.
The only time wherever it shows a different light is when you take the battery out, put back in and hold the power button. Led Slim Select Bay (second right) briefly turns green, but it turns off and the led DC IN resumption of the orange blink.
It seems likely that it is an internal hardware problem (power supply, motherboard, etc.). Does anyone have any ideas? And as anyone knows anywhere which lists all the different orange light codes for Toshiba laptops?
Hi André,.
You are right in thinking that there is a hardware failure (most likely your motherboard). Flashing codes are used by service technicians to indicate the nature of the fault and I have yet to find anywhere who publishes the real meaning of these codes.
I think it looks like a trip to the nearest Service Agent. :-(
