Satellite Pro A10: DVD rom sd c2612 stopped reading discs completely

OK, I have a Satellite Pro A10, recently it is just stopped reading discs completely! Ive got no idea what wrong with and do not know if you need to replace? I prefer not too.

If anyone has any advice on repairing it I would appreciate it. If not if anyone knows if there any compatible DVD readers writing? also the best place to buy?

Help, please!

Hello

This does not sound well :( I think it could be a hardware problem maybe something wrong with the lens of the drive
Anyway, usually it of not possible to fix these issues or it s not worth repairing, because the costs are too high
Thus, it seems that you need to replace. But be careful. Not all readers are compatible because different master/slave/c-salt settings.
I would recommend so contact the ASP in your country to get a compatible drive.

But please try this proposal;
Sometimes, the Player cannot read the Middle due to the incorrect registry key.
Remove the upper and lower filter filter in this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

and restart the laptop. Maybe it helps

Good luck

    Hey riri,.

Check in Device Manager to see if your DVD-ROM is listed and if so was it an exclamation mark against it? If it is, then simply remove it from your system and restart. Windows will identify as a new device and install with the correct driver.

It is also possible that the drive may have 'disappeared' If you have recently removed any software DVD. It is a known issue and a solution is described in the following Microsoft Knowledge Base article: -.

  • Satellite Pro A10 CD Burning: after having burned the CD is empty

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro A10 and my CD burner stopped burning. Someone at - it? I also had a problem earlier where he would burn only 1 disc immediately after startup. It says it burns and goes through all the motions, but in the end the drive has nothing about it. I use Maxell discs and have had no problem before using these. If the CD burner is broken it is possible to get a replacement and they are also easy to assemble.

    Thank you

    Hello

It is really possible that the drive is defective. Before Exchange you it the only thing, you can try is to check if there is some success if you use different empty media (producers) and burn it using a few different burning applications. I recommend you to use NERO software of engraving.

Also be sure that the engraving option is enabled and not only option called simulation.

Replacement should not be problematic. If I remember correctly from the drive is fixed with a screw and you can find it in the bottom corner near the drive itself.

    Hello

you mean that the external hard drive does not work too? Some software blocking your disks?

I think that the best way to check if your internal drive still works would try to start with a bootable CD (perhaps with a live linux distribution on it) and to try this with the external hard drive also.

If you're really a software that prevents the drive work properly, then you should recover your machine with the recovery media to make the drive work again properly.

  • Satellite Pro A10 - CD/DVD drive - updated?

I have an A10 and a few remnants of the A15 which I cannibalise the parts.

Desperately the A10 BIOS does not recognize the A15 CD/DVD drive.
Anyone know if it is possible to obtain this recognition - could I swap chips BIOS with the A15 for example?

This machine is my toy and I have it running with a Pentium 4 M 2.4 GHz and 1 GB of ram (frustrating it does not accept the sticks of 1 GB!).

    Hello
You can only use the BIOS that came out for the Satellite Pro A10 series and which is available on the Toshiba page.

The manual provides details on supported devices.

  • Can I install a DVD - RW on my Satellite Pro A10 drive?

I want to upgrade the drive of DVD ROM/CD-RW (SD-R2412) on my Satellite Pro A10 on a DVD - RW drive, so I can burn DVDs. I bought a Toshiba (TS-L632) DVDRW drive, because it's exactly the same size and shape, such as the existing DVD ROM drive, the same voltage (5v) and the same connector.

However, after installation and setting on the laptop, it is not recognized as being installed that is to say, there is no sign of it at all on the computer. Is it because the laptop is completely unable to support a DVD - RW disc, or have I bought an incompatible device? If so, is there a compatible DVDRW drive?

    Thanks in advance,
    Fred.

  • SD-C2612 IDE #1 error after wrong firmware update - Satellite Pro A10

    Hello
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10, which was flashed with wrong firmware (I don't know which because I don't).

I tried flashing with the right firmware (1315) but get the message to the Primary Master and Slave as "Not ATAPI Device" and "drive not connected".

NB: at the start, even with the deleted DVD ROM, I always get the #1 error IDE.

Update the bios to the latest version would help or is there all the options open for me to solve this problem other than to have recourse to the connection of pin 47 & 45? Would it even solves?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

    Best regards
    Angus

    > I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10, which was flashed with wrong firmware (I don't know which because I don't).

Lol :D I have don t wonder you get the IDE #1 error message.
As you say yourself, you have flashed the drive with the wrong firmware. This has damaged the master/slave/c-salt settings of readers and so the BIOS doesn't recognize the CD/DVD drive. But I wonder why someone flashing the drive with a bad firmware?  :| We still know that a wrong firmware can damage the CD/DVD drive... and above all it is not necessary to update the firmware.

    > Update the bios to the latest version would help
The BISO update will not help you because you have already good BIOS and it s NOT a problem of BIOS, but the evil and not compatible firmware is stored.

    > or are there options open for me to solve this problem other than to have recourse to the connection of pin 47 & 45? Would it even solves?
I'm don't know if this helps, but I know that it is not desirable because it may damage the material of CD/DVD players

I recommend you contact the ASP in your country guys might revive the CD/DVD drive. Let's hope

  • Satellite Pro A10 display and DVD issues

I have a Satellite Pro A10 about 2 1/2 years and have never had a problem with him, but the other day when I tried to watch a DVD, look at a program (InterActual Player) opened as usual and then a few more seconds later the display will change in very low resolution (something like 14 colors, almost a negative and all image was massive Although I don't remember the actual numbers) and he said that I had to reboot in order to return things to normal. I tried the same DVD in Windows Media Player, as well as to try other DVDs and initially that the DVD would play in Media Player but not Interactual but now the same thing happens any DVD or player that I use.

Also, I went on the computer this morning and got a message saying that the battery is low (although it was because I had not plugged the computer again, nothing to do with the last errors) and the computer is in standby. I plugged in the computer and you press the power button to wake the screen is very dark but visibly pixelated (I think that's the word, he had visible points, as if someone were holding a magnifying glass up to her) and got very slowly brighter until there has been a series of narrow bright stripes, like a giant pixel or a tv test screen.
This could be a problem with the display drivers (even though I tried to update and we found since I always see a message 'Cannot find the requested string' by the icon for display in the control panel), the screen itself, or something else entirely?

Sorry it's so long, but I thought it is best to include all the details in case it has been important. I hope someone can help!

    Hello Nicola

As you know on this path is not easy to say what may be the problem. In my opinion, it is important to see what is happening exactly. I assume that your problem is not caused by the display driver. Try to properly test and notice where the screen is very dark.

If this problem is repeated again and again that I recommend you backup your data and reinstall the unit with recovery media. On this path of unity will be factory configured and you can see if the problem still occurs. If so, it may be just caused by a malfunction of the equipment.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite Pro A10 stops on specific opportunities

    Hello!

I am owner of a satellite Pro A10 (PSA15E). It's hard drive stop working, the pc could not find. So I bought a new, a samsung with 160 GB, IDE, of course.

Now when I was installing windows, in the part file copy, it just stopped. When I boot it says initialization file fails, then I guess it stops when it was to transfer this important part.

If I run the cd again, it does not format or reinstall/repair request, it loads only some files and try to start windows and then stops.

Now, this is where the tricky part comes in: the power led in turn, then again very fast when it stops. I do not use the battery (it is already dead too), and I use an universal AC, a give, 70W adapter. I tried formatting via a LiveCD Ubuntu, with no luck, because when I choose "Try Ubuntu" or "Install Ubuntu" it stops a little as he thought, and then when he is about to leave the menu and do something, it stops in place.

My only guess, is that this laptop doesn't want me more :(

I could really use some help, I just spent some 50 on a HARD drive for him and he is the only laptop that I have. I don't think that it is a question of temperature because it stops just at specific times, on some specific choices. If I just let it hang there in the menu (the Ubuntu live CD one) it is not closed. Only when I want him to go further.

Any help/response is greatly appreciated, and if I take a little too much time to respond is because I don't have access to internet at work now.

    Thank you very much

    Hello

Theoretically, this could be an overheating problem as Akuma wrote. Therefore, you must clean your laptop using a jet of compressed air. This could blow the dust from the cooling fans and can improve the cooling of the laptop.

In addition, it would be interesting to know what happens if you run Toshiba Recovery disk recovery facility this work?

  • Satellite Pro A10 stops during the installation of Windows

I have a satellite Pro A10, which stops during the installation of Windows. The installation gets to the part where I need to select the HARD drive to install, then the system off just. I can restart it immediately, and the sdame happens.

If I enter the BIOS, everything is detected OK, and I've updated to the latest version (V1.4). Also when in the BIOS, the system will remain under tension for ever and a day! and no downtime. I have a couple of diagnostic CD, then run the tests is the same thing, but I ran the seagate diagnostic tool and the HDD OK passes, as does the main map, but cannot perform detailed testing that the system shuts down during the tests.

I suspect an overheating issue but would like advice.

Hmmm it s very strange. I thought that the HARD drive could malfunctions but it of very impossible if the HARD drive has passed the Seagate diagnostic test.

However, it would be very interesting to know if the installation of the OS would end with another HARD drive.
You know, it of always difficult to provide an exact solution without any diagnostic tests.

For me, it really looks like a hardware malfunction. So perhaps it would be advisable to contact the authorized Toshiba maintainer for a control of the laptop.
Guys could run tests and would situate the fault quickly.

  • Satellite Pro A10 - IDE 1 # error at startup to the top

HI, I have a Satellite pro A10 and everything is working very well in recent years to date.
A few days ago I started having a cd read error / invalid dvd disc format still drives fine on all the other PCs work.

Today as I get #1 error on boot up IDE... the laptop is always standard when I got off the shelf. thinking the drive might be dead due to wear I replaced the drive with a drive to work and I still get the same error. I removed the completely STRANGE and yet to come.

I also updated the usb floppy bios that has been a success. and the best part of all this. the dvd - rom supplied with the laptop works fine in my other a10 tosh!

Someone at - it ideas. I really need to replace the motherboard if I can help it. This is the only problem with the laptop.

    THX in advance people.

    Hello James

IDE 1 # error is typical when ODD is not accepted by the system. The reason may be defective drive or the use of non-compliant readers. The fact is that each player can not be used with all portable models because of the allocation of the different pins.

In your case, it is really strange that the work by car on other A10 but not on this one. Because of this, I presume that there may be a problem with connectors. I'm afraid there is not much to do. You can try to check out them and see if they are clean and not oxidized.

Sorry, but we cannot speculate what may be the problem but, as you know, only intensive test may give you more answers.

Good luck and let us know if you will find what is the problem of resources.

  • Test media check out cable - Satellite Pro A10

    Hello

If anyone can help me, I would be most gratefull.
I just installed a Western hardrive digital 120 gig on a toshiba laptop Satellite Pro A10 on XP. at first start it comes up with this media test failure check cable.

It takes time to boot into windows, then the sound of windows appears about 10 seconds after office charge up. any help on this?

Also the DVD rom drive does not read DVD only CD.

    Model DVD is SD-R2412

And y at - it anyway tke that windows loads faster and it should install the driver sound max or the Realtek AC.

Can someone let me know ASAP thanks syclonus.

If you order the boot priority and start first of all of the HARD drive you will get this error more.
Then will the BIOS with the ESC key and change it.

Did you test different DVD in the drive? I think it might be a hardware problem. For a long time, I had a similar problem, my drive wrote DVD CD only.

There is a lot of advice how to make Windows faster. I can give you the same examples: defragment your HARD disk, check to see how many programs is in the msconfig startup folder. Disable or remove any programs you don't need.
In addition, you can disable all services that you don't need (run > services.msc). Make sure what you do, but I always disable updates automatic, Security Center, time Windows, help and support, themes and so far away.
Clean the registry. To do this, I always use the CCleaner tool. A very good tool and it s freeware.
And if make you faster Windows startup sound comes perhaps at the right time.

All the drivers, that you can get on the Toshiba site. It of not necessary to install one or several sound card drivers.

    Hi John,.

Unfortunately, it seems that if your HARD drive has crashed. The message of your BIOS is normally what you see if the PC cannot detect any bootable devices. Usually, it is a bootable HARD drive.

Assuming you have the Toshiba Recovery CD you could try to restore your existing system to your HDD (it will automatically reformat the hard disk first), but you might find although it will simply fail restore due to the failure of the drive.

Your next option is to replace the HARD drive. You can do it yourself very easily, or you may prefer to take the laptop to a Service Agent for them to do. Note that you still need to rebuild your system from the recovery CD according to your choice.

Given that your device has a 20 GB HARD drive standard you could take this opportunity to install a larger capacity drive.
