Satellite Pro A10: IDE #1 error - drive doesn't appear unless the CD is inserted

Hello

I've been recently wearing on my bed watching a DVD when I fell asleep with the laptop sitting next me on my bed. During the night, however I moved and he accidentally knocked on the side of my bed.
The next day when I booted up the loading it said IDE #1 error since then I understand it is a mistake to CD/DVD drive, the device works very well, starts ok (except the IDE error) and I can use it as usual except that there is no DVD drive in 'My computer', which is a bit of a pain when I want to watch a movie/play a game or install something.

The drive itself is completely insensitive, when I press the button to eject the tray, it doesn't do a thing.
I decided to try to remove and put back the drive to see if it was struck just loose when he fell of the bed as he fell only in short way (approximately down to 18 ".)

I removed all the covers on the bottom of the laptop and checked that all was in place correctly and to try to understand how to remove the drive but would not do too adventurous as to worsen the situation, the only thing I have done is to remove the CPU fan and remove a few stuffed animals and remove the HARD drive and glanced to make sure it was not damaged in any place) It wasn't) and then replaced and replace all covers.

When I rebooted the system, it started fine as usual, and the player react when I press the eject button, but the DVD player (sometimes) will now appear in 'My computer', but only when I insert something (be it a DVD/game/program), then it displays the error message an error of e/s on the device there.

Any help of you all would be a great help, I thought just remove the drive and replacing it with a new one as a DVD RW one but I do not know how, I would be very grateful for advice and guidance you could provide.

Thank you very much
Michael

Hi Michael,

It is possible that the relocation of your optical drive may be necessary to refer it to the full. Unfortunately on the A10, it will be dismantled in order to achieve its screws located under the keyboard.

Please see the following link for the complete disassembly instructions. The DVD player is covered in step 13. http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/ToshibaA15/SatelliteA15_laptop_disassembly_1.htm

HI, I have a Satellite pro A10 and everything is working very well in recent years to date.
A few days ago I started having a cd read error / invalid dvd disc format still drives fine on all the other PCs work.

Today as I get #1 error on boot up IDE... the laptop is always standard when I got off the shelf. thinking the drive might be dead due to wear I replaced the drive with a drive to work and I still get the same error. I removed the completely STRANGE and yet to come.

I also updated the usb floppy bios that has been a success. and the best part of all this. the dvd - rom supplied with the laptop works fine in my other a10 tosh!

Someone at - it ideas. I really need to replace the motherboard if I can help it. This is the only problem with the laptop.

    THX in advance people.

    Hello James

IDE 1 # error is typical when ODD is not accepted by the system. The reason may be defective drive or the use of non-compliant readers. The fact is that each player can not be used with all portable models because of the allocation of the different pins.

In your case, it is really strange that the work by car on other A10 but not on this one. Because of this, I presume that there may be a problem with connectors. I'm afraid there is not much to do. You can try to check out them and see if they are clean and not oxidized.

Sorry, but we cannot speculate what may be the problem but, as you know, only intensive test may give you more answers.

Good luck and let us know if you will find what is the problem of resources.

  • Satellite Pro A10 comes with: error IDE #0, PXE-E61media test failed

I recently bought a used Toshiba Satellite pro A10.
When I received it, it was working and being a noob I tried to install a network card and create a wireless network with my desktop using XP when it did not work I plugged my ethernet (from my desktop) cable on the laptop and flashed upwards with a small number can not? dll etc etc.

Now I unplugged the ethernet cable and when I try to boot my laptop it comes up with:

    HI Tom,

The error message that you receive indicate that your laptop is trying to start the connection to the LAN rather than from his own hard drive or a CD-ROM. I suggest that you verify that the boot sequence is specified correctly in your BIOS, or alternatively, you can press F12 during your market and you should get the boot device menu sequence appears so that you can specify that you want to boot from your hard drive.

I simply used the original Windows CD and you have formatted the whole HARD drive.

  • Sat Pro A10: 'IDE #0 Error' on two laptops

    Hello

Appreciate any input from anyone in case I did something really stupid or am incredibly unlucky.

A Pro A10 Sat (out of warranty) looked like an imminent drive failure, then I cloned the drive and tried to share more, but got the error IDE #0 at startup. As I have two of these laptops, I traded in my second computer laptop to see if it was a disk error, but got the same error on the first laptop.

On return the drive to the second laptop. She now also fails with the same error! The two laptops are no disk in the BIOS and nothing spinning upwards at the start. However, both connect to desktop fine, if the drives are OK.

I don't see anyway to change the CMOS settings in case that's the problem with the new player or have I managed to damage the two IDE connectors in 5 minutes.

    Ideas or widely accepted views!

    Thank you.

    Hello

Have you tried putting the Hd drive in BIOS?
If BIOS don't recognize try it HDD to manually set and save the settings in the BIOS
If it is not possible, so I guess that it s something wrong with connectors or the HARD drive is not well positioned in the Bay.
But it is also possible that the two HARD drive have a malfunction.

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro 6070 Slim Select Bay Drive doesn't regonize CD

I have a problem with my Slim Select Bay DVD. The drive motor is running and the laser unit moves, but it does not recognize the discs until I flip the whole notebook on the right side.
Then, after a few attempts with opening and closing of the drive, the drive reads the disc in most of the time. So I think that it is a problem with the contacts inside the laptop because windows recognize it every time.

Has anyone here an idea of how solve it?

    Thank you very much

Sorry but I do not understand your question. Of course, there is problem contact and how you think that you can solve.

If someone write here you should disassemble the entire laptop and check or perhaps own contacts your really want to do this?

  • Satellite Pro A10. No CD drive

    Hello.

I hope someone can help me. I have an old reliable A10, and until recently, it was the company. But then disaster. It keeps giving me an "error number 37" when I look at the driver for the cd drive. On the Microsoft web site, it said to uninstall the driver and re - install, and this should fix the problem. There can be no. So I uninstalled the driver again and installed a new driver, just in case the old driver has been corrupted. But still the same. I tried all the major virus checkers, I 2006 McAfee, Stinger, Webroot, and I even tried AVG free virus checker. This machine is clean. I hope someone can help me restore my baby to its former glory.

  • Satellite Pro A10 won't start HARD drive

I have a Satellite Pro A10 that is not responding. If I have the connected HARD drive I get a ' insert System Disk... "message, I checked the HARD drive with a 2.5" USB connector in another computer and it seems OK.

The laptop, I cannot change the boot order to select CD-Rom so that I can try the recovery disks. I can't get into the BIOS, but the Boot Priority option is not selectable.

    Any help appreciated.

Especially this error message appears because the Middle starts not able.
You insert a boot able CD?

Try this: connect the computer laptop HARD drive to a USB adapter and try to format the whole HARD drive.
Then put it in the laptop, insert the bootable CD and try to boot from the drive.
As mentioned you could press the C button immediately after you start the laptop

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro A10 and bought an internal pci wireless adapter. The following information is displayed on my card:

    Askey WLL3070-D4 (MOW)
    Atheros AR5BRB-43

I installed the card, attached to the ariel and turned on the laptop... the switch at the front lights up now and Windows xp detects the new ethernet adapter. My problem is the following...

Any driver I install (and Ive tried all the drivers of the first 20 + pages of yahoo/google Askey/Atheros etc.) the card installs very well but then in device manager has a yellow! next to him and says this device cannot start (code 10)

I am really puzzled. I have little ram more to come in the next few days how I am installng Vista im hoping sort my problems, but someone has any ideas?

I have not yet find a driver which specifically refers to the AR5BRB or the WLL3070-D4 model number.

Does anyone have a location for a pilot, etc.?

  • Question about BIOS for Satellite Pro A10 files

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 and later yesterday, he won't, he past the TOSHIBA start screen and then black with a flashing cursor, it didn't leave me in advanced settings or the settings of the BIOS, a friend told me I need to Flash BIOS, I came across the site and found only a BIOS update and management told me to use the floppy drive , he said when I unzip the file I get an .exe file which I opened and it will give me three files, one for the CD ROM, one for the floppy drive and the third I don't remember, but it didn't happen, when I unzipped the files in a temporary folder, but I never had the files.

I think I had to have it on my own laptop, and then it would be extracted properly, because my laptop does not work I can't do and even if I put the files on a disk, they are too big.

    Then...

Where can I get the files from the BIOS that I can put on a floppy disk and then I can boot from that disk and it will fix the BIOS?

    Thank you

    Hello

    OK, follow these steps:

Burn the file bios to CD on a CD, boot from it and update your bios. It's a simple and easy way. I Don t understand why it shouldn´t work, given that I ve updated my bios in the same way. I burned the image to CD and booted from this CD.

Please answer perhaps you just made a mistake when you think to (I sometimes do too much, not often, but it happens..)  :)

    Welcome them

  • Upgrade memory on Satellite Pro A10

Can anyone advise me on the correct type of RAM to upgrade my Satellite Pro A10. Its a standard of 256 MB at the minute and I think to mortise in additional 512 MB next to her - but I am confused by the array of the types of memories and classifications - DDR - SODIMM etc!

Practice with the screwdriver, but not so hot with the acronyms. A big thank you to you all out there who know the score!

    Hello

I understand you very well and sometimes I also a bit confused because of the entire rating in the world of computing of m.

The Sat Pro A10 supports 200-pin PC2700 (333 Mhz) DDR SODIMM modules and you can upgrade the memory on this laptop up to 1024 MB (2 x 512 MB)

You can check this page of the memory module:

  • SD-C2612 IDE #1 error after wrong firmware update - Satellite Pro A10

    Hello
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10, which was flashed with wrong firmware (I don't know which because I don't).

I tried flashing with the right firmware (1315) but get the message to the Primary Master and Slave as "Not ATAPI Device" and "drive not connected".

NB: at the start, even with the deleted DVD ROM, I always get the #1 error IDE.

Update the bios to the latest version would help or is there all the options open for me to solve this problem other than to have recourse to the connection of pin 47 & 45? Would it even solves?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

    Best regards
    Angus

    > I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10, which was flashed with wrong firmware (I don't know which because I don't).

Lol :D I have don t wonder you get the IDE #1 error message.
As you say yourself, you have flashed the drive with the wrong firmware. This has damaged the master/slave/c-salt settings of readers and so the BIOS doesn't recognize the CD/DVD drive. But I wonder why someone flashing the drive with a bad firmware?  :| We still know that a wrong firmware can damage the CD/DVD drive... and above all it is not necessary to update the firmware.

    > Update the bios to the latest version would help
The BISO update will not help you because you have already good BIOS and it s NOT a problem of BIOS, but the evil and not compatible firmware is stored.

    > or are there options open for me to solve this problem other than to have recourse to the connection of pin 47 & 45? Would it even solves?
I'm don't know if this helps, but I know that it is not desirable because it may damage the material of CD/DVD players

I recommend you contact the ASP in your country guys might revive the CD/DVD drive. Let's hope

  • IDE #1 error on Satellite Pro A10

Hi, my laptop Satellite Pro A10 displays IDE #1 error whenever I try to put it on. This message is all I get, even if it is shown for a short period of time - the laptop always comes back to this message, it tries to load blanbk of the screen just go and then this message appears every time! I was wondering if someone could explain what this means and how can I solve this problem?

    Thank you

    David

    Hello David

This error occurs if there is a problem with the CD/DVD drive. For example, this error occurs if you try to use the incompatible reader. It will be interesting to see what happens if the drive is removed.

    You did any player upgrade?
