Satellite Pro A10: Need OpenGL to get software running

Hello

On my Toshiba Satellite Pro A10, running planetarium software, I get notification that openGL 1.3 or a later version must be installed & version 1.1 is running.
I've updated the video driver to the latest version available (6.13.10.3514), but that does not solve the problem.
Is there another way to install a newer version of openGL?

Thank you.

Hello

OpenGL is an API that allows to design a graphic 2D and 3D. It of similar to DirectX DirectX is a Microsoft product, and always to implement in the Windows operating system. The OpenGL is not implemented.

Usually, if you do not want to run the software that requires an OpenGL, you need to find these drivers on the graphics card manufacturer pages already include the OpenGL interface

  • Satellite Pro A10 - need information about upgrading RAM

    Dear members of Ant
Regarding the above machine: Please can someone advise:-how many slots memory has.
I think it's two but do not know.
Also size maximum memory can this module we have in this laptop please.
If it's 2 @ 1 GB per module, then we would have a total of 2 GB.

Is the standard hard drive on this computer, a hard drive of the laptop. Can I get out the small 20 GB one and replace it with a larger. for example 120 GB etc.

Thank you very much for your help.
    Ian

Satellite Pro A10 two memory locations are available. Laptop computer can manage with 1 GB of RAM and you can use two compatible PC2100 512 MB (PA3164U - 1 M 51) modules.

This old machine uses 2.5 HDD with old IDE connector. I found some info that it has been bundled with 20GB, 30GB and 40GB HDD. I think you can improve it with up to 100 GB HARD drive but just to be sure he has the same connector on the HARD drive.

If you have any other questions you are welcome.
For more information after the exact model number please.

  • HARD drive caddy for old Satellite Pro A10 need

    Hello

I recently bought an old Pro of Satellite A10 but it doesn't have a hard drive or a caddy, anyone know if one of the other Toshiba Notebook Caddy is compatible with this model? I've been watching autour fleabay, but not a lot of Pro A10 caddy out there.

    Any help is very appreciated

    Kind regards
    Carl

Until you find HDD caddy put the HARD drive in place and fix it a bit with aluminum foil, just to be sure it will not move during the use of laptop. Don t cover all HARD drive with just one make smallholders and attach the HARD drive in place.

I did it on my old L300.

    With regard to the point;

    (a) generally, it should be possible to order the CD of tools & utilities but I ask why?
    (b) you can buy the CD of the ASP in your country
    (c) the older recovery CD is supported by an expert mode. You can use this mode to choose the partition where the OS is to be installed. In this case only, this partition will be formatted.

But look, man. You do not need to order the CD tools & utilities because on this CD, you will only find the Toshiba drivers can be downloaded from the Toshiba page too.

    Hi John,.

Unfortunately, it seems that if your HARD drive has crashed. The message of your BIOS is normally what you see if the PC cannot detect any bootable devices. Usually, it is a bootable HARD drive.

Assuming you have the Toshiba Recovery CD you could try to restore your existing system to your HDD (it will automatically reformat the hard disk first), but you might find although it will simply fail restore due to the failure of the drive.

Your next option is to replace the HARD drive. You can do it yourself very easily, or you may prefer to take the laptop to a Service Agent for them to do. Note that you still need to rebuild your system from the recovery CD according to your choice.

Given that your device has a 20 GB HARD drive standard you could take this opportunity to install a larger capacity drive.

  • Satellite Pro A10 - but cannot work on what model it is?

Hi, I am a beginner, but hey!

I have an old, very old, but perfectly functional Toshiba Satellite Pro. It was purchased in October 2003. On the underside, he says it is a "Satellite Pro A10", but we can also read on the part number that reads 'PSA15E-02VPC-EN.

What is an A10 or A15. As ever, it's what model is it, when I visit the download page online for pilots, there re a number of different models, I can't work on which it is my pc?

There are eleven models A10 A10-S100 to A10-S178 and eight models A15-A15-S127 to A15-S1692.

So this could be one of the 19 models? Any help much appreciated.

P.S. I have formatted the hard drive, installed a clean copy of Windows XP, so now I need drivers.

    Hello

According to your post, you have a series of Satellite Pro A10 PSA15E

    The drivers are located on the page of the European driver Toshiba;
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com

But the laptop is old, then you must check the box Archive to get the drivers for this series. In product type choose Archive simple and then point to Satellite Pro A10 PSA15E ;)

  • Satellite Pro A10 - IDE 1 # error at startup to the top

HI, I have a Satellite pro A10 and everything is working very well in recent years to date.
A few days ago I started having a cd read error / invalid dvd disc format still drives fine on all the other PCs work.

Today as I get #1 error on boot up IDE... the laptop is always standard when I got off the shelf. thinking the drive might be dead due to wear I replaced the drive with a drive to work and I still get the same error. I removed the completely STRANGE and yet to come.

I also updated the usb floppy bios that has been a success. and the best part of all this. the dvd - rom supplied with the laptop works fine in my other a10 tosh!

Someone at - it ideas. I really need to replace the motherboard if I can help it. This is the only problem with the laptop.

    THX in advance people.

    Hello James

IDE 1 # error is typical when ODD is not accepted by the system. The reason may be defective drive or the use of non-compliant readers. The fact is that each player can not be used with all portable models because of the allocation of the different pins.

In your case, it is really strange that the work by car on other A10 but not on this one. Because of this, I presume that there may be a problem with connectors. I'm afraid there is not much to do. You can try to check out them and see if they are clean and not oxidized.

Sorry, but we cannot speculate what may be the problem but, as you know, only intensive test may give you more answers.

Good luck and let us know if you will find what is the problem of resources.

  • Test media check out cable - Satellite Pro A10

    Hello

If anyone can help me, I would be most gratefull.
I just installed a Western hardrive digital 120 gig on a toshiba laptop Satellite Pro A10 on XP. at first start it comes up with this media test failure check cable.

It takes time to boot into windows, then the sound of windows appears about 10 seconds after office charge up. any help on this?

Also the DVD rom drive does not read DVD only CD.

    Model DVD is SD-R2412

And y at - it anyway tke that windows loads faster and it should install the driver sound max or the Realtek AC.

Can someone let me know ASAP thanks syclonus.

If you order the boot priority and start first of all of the HARD drive you will get this error more.
Then will the BIOS with the ESC key and change it.

Did you test different DVD in the drive? I think it might be a hardware problem. For a long time, I had a similar problem, my drive wrote DVD CD only.

There is a lot of advice how to make Windows faster. I can give you the same examples: defragment your HARD disk, check to see how many programs is in the msconfig startup folder. Disable or remove any programs you don't need.
In addition, you can disable all services that you don't need (run > services.msc). Make sure what you do, but I always disable updates automatic, Security Center, time Windows, help and support, themes and so far away.
Clean the registry. To do this, I always use the CCleaner tool. A very good tool and it s freeware.
And if make you faster Windows startup sound comes perhaps at the right time.

All the drivers, that you can get on the Toshiba site. It of not necessary to install one or several sound card drivers.

  • Satellite Pro A10 - Win 7 with WLan PA3171U-1MPC

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro A10 with a PA3171U-1MPC Wireless LAN Mini PCI Card, 160 GB HARD drive and 1 GB of RAM, I want to upgrade to Windows 7 for my son.

    He worked in XP before.
States of Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor:
"Before installing Windows 7, go to the device manufacturer's Web site to download the latest driver for this device.
After I installed Windows 7, install the sound driver. »

Does anyone know if there is a driver (Windows 7) or a WinXP driver will do the job?
If Yes, where can I download a (my XP image has been corrupted, I'll do a new installation).

    Thank you very much
    Steve

    Hello

Firstly by Satellite Pro A10 is not Win 7 supported and therefore, you will find not all Toshiba drivers for this model of laptop. The unit is just too old.

I put t know if Win XP WLan driver compatible with Win 7. I think that it s is not compatible. Driver Vista may be compatible with Win 7, but not Win XP driver.

In the worst case, you will need to use an external USB WLan dongle to get wifi on this laptop.

  • Question about BIOS for Satellite Pro A10 files

    Hello

I have Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 and later yesterday, he won't, he past the TOSHIBA start screen and then black with a flashing cursor, it didn't leave me in advanced settings or the settings of the BIOS, a friend told me I need to Flash BIOS, I came across the site and found only a BIOS update and management told me to use the floppy drive , he said when I unzip the file I get an .exe file which I opened and it will give me three files, one for the CD ROM, one for the floppy drive and the third I don't remember, but it didn't happen, when I unzipped the files in a temporary folder, but I never had the files.

I think I had to have it on my own laptop, and then it would be extracted properly, because my laptop does not work I can't do and even if I put the files on a disk, they are too big.

    Then...

Where can I get the files from the BIOS that I can put on a floppy disk and then I can boot from that disk and it will fix the BIOS?

    Thank you

    Hello

    OK, follow these steps:

Burn the file bios to CD on a CD, boot from it and update your bios. It's a simple and easy way. I Don t understand why it shouldn´t work, given that I ve updated my bios in the same way. I burned the image to CD and booted from this CD.

Please answer perhaps you just made a mistake when you think to (I sometimes do too much, not often, but it happens..)  :)

    Welcome them
