Satellite Pro A10 - no valid Windows XP installed

Legitemately bought a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 laptop, but there is not a valid Windows XP Professional installed. I have the original product key.

Can I download this, free preference?

Hello

How have you noticed that an invalid Windows XP installed?

Usually if you reinstall your laptop with Toshiba recovery disk it s a copy valid XP is already activated and there is nothing to do.

In addition, the product key on the lower side of your laptop belongs to the preinstalled version of Windows XP and t can be used with the other XP discs.

    Hello

I do not understand why you changed the operating system. I think XP Prof is the best version of Windows XP.

Anyway, you can find all the necessary drivers on the utility CD & tools and programs. Drivers for XP Home and teacher are the same. On the CD drivers and programs are listed in the order. Follow this order during installation to avoid conflicts. And always reboot the system if necessary.

  • Toshiba Satellite Pro A10, Windows XP Service Pack 2

    Hello world
    "I have a ' Toshiba Satellite Pro A10: P4 - M 2.2 GHz/XP Pro/15" TFT/40 GB / 768 MB.
I have installed Windows XP Service pack 2 in my book.
After the update to Windows XP SP2, the only way to start my computer after putting in "sleep mode" or "hibernation mode" is witch power off and then start up.
I reinstalled "Toshiba Power Saver", but nothing came of it.

What can I do about it?

    Kind regards
    Krasteff

Obviously the Service Pack 2 does not match current preinstalled saver.

First installation, you have is to wait for an updated version of Toshiba Power Saver, which is XP Service Pack 2 tested. But so far, you have no "Standby" or "hibernate".

Installation of the second. If you need to "Standby" or "Hibernate" feature, uninstall Service Pack 2 and wait until there is a solution to the problem of energy saving.

The two sounds is not perfect, but I think the second installation is the best way. Toshiba will surely bring a new Service Pack 2 tested Power Saver version.

    Good bye

  • Activation of the LAN after reinstalling Windows - Satellite Pro A10

I gave my laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 an a copy of Windows XP Pro format. In general, I use a PCMCIA Wireless Internet card, but I don't want to connect to my laptop via a physical Ethernet cable. Unfortunately I can not understand how to turn the local network on my PC (I.E. It is even not in Device Manager). Does anyone know how to do this? (IE. What Toshiba utility, I need to do this etc.)

  • Satellite Pro A10 stops during the installation of Windows

I have a satellite Pro A10, which stops during the installation of Windows. The installation gets to the part where I need to select the HARD drive to install, then the system off just. I can restart it immediately, and the sdame happens.

If I enter the BIOS, everything is detected OK, and I've updated to the latest version (V1.4). Also when in the BIOS, the system will remain under tension for ever and a day! and no downtime. I have a couple of diagnostic CD, then run the tests is the same thing, but I ran the seagate diagnostic tool and the HDD OK passes, as does the main map, but cannot perform detailed testing that the system shuts down during the tests.

I suspect an overheating issue but would like advice.

Hmmm it s very strange. I thought that the HARD drive could malfunctions but it of very impossible if the HARD drive has passed the Seagate diagnostic test.

However, it would be very interesting to know if the installation of the OS would end with another HARD drive.
You know, it of always difficult to provide an exact solution without any diagnostic tests.

For me, it really looks like a hardware malfunction. So perhaps it would be advisable to contact the authorized Toshiba maintainer for a control of the laptop.
Guys could run tests and would situate the fault quickly.

  • Satellite Pro A10 does not pass the Windows page after removing SP2

    Hello

I have a toshiba laptop Satellite Pro A10.
I installed windows service pack 2 week last to try to get one of these dongles TNT to work, he never so I uninstalled service pack 2 I was going to try and reinstall it to see if it would work.

Now, my problem is that the laptop will not go at all, it gets to the windows XP page and then everything stops, someone could help me I don't know what to do!

    Thank you
    Sharon

    Hi Sharon

Seems that the system files are corrupted on the HARD drive.
All of the installation and the removal of the service pack has damaged some files or registry entries.

I don t think you will be able to resolve this situation without reinstalling the OS.
In my opinion, it's a better way to get rid of this problem.

Take the Toshiba Recovery CD and reinstall everything.
If you want to back up your data, I recommend to connect the internal HARD drive to another computer via the external USB HDD controller.

    Good luck

  • Satellite Pro A10: No sound after upgrade to Windows XP Home SP2

    Hello

Just use the recovery disks on my Satellite Pro A10, no problem with the sound, and then upgraded to XP Home with SP2, no noise.

What I've read elsewhere, this is a problem and there seems to be an answer. I spent hours looking for drivers updated without success.

I have also contacted Toshiba support, after blow and blow that they reported the following driver, 5.12.01.3542, which is the same one that I have already installed and does not work.

Certainly there must be something out there that works.

    Ant.

Install the driver of his most recent available FRO this sound chip and perform all the Windows updates available on the Microsoft page!

  • Can I install a DVD - RW on my Satellite Pro A10 drive?

I want to upgrade the drive of DVD ROM/CD-RW (SD-R2412) on my Satellite Pro A10 on a DVD - RW drive, so I can burn DVDs. I bought a Toshiba (TS-L632) DVDRW drive, because it's exactly the same size and shape, such as the existing DVD ROM drive, the same voltage (5v) and the same connector.

However, after installation and setting on the laptop, it is not recognized as being installed that is to say, there is no sign of it at all on the computer. Is it because the laptop is completely unable to support a DVD - RW disc, or have I bought an incompatible device? If so, is there a compatible DVDRW drive?

    Thanks in advance,
    Fred.

  • How to install the adapter wireless network in Satellite Pro A10

I'm trying to set up a wireless connection with my Satellite Pro A10. I thought it was active wireless, but when I switch the wireless switch, no light comes on and there is no card listed under network adapters wireless (so I guess not).

Is it easy to install a wireless adapter (i.e. can I do it myself or I must be done by a professional)? Can anyone recommend what card I should by (or any other that I should avoid)?

    Thank you.

    Hello

According to the specification of the specifications your A10 Pro Satellite is WLAN ready. In notebook specification it has listed two compatible WIFI cards:
    PA3212U-4MPC (Agere 802. 11b) and PA3273U-2MPC (802. 11a / b).

I don't really know if you can use some faster wireless network cards with the g standard. You may be lucky and someone will post here results update WLAN card.

I'm not sure 100% where the WLAN slot is placed but check it please under the lid placed close to the battery.

    Thank you very much

    Owen

    Hello

Usually, if you have a laptop wireless switch should have a wireless LAN card too. In your case I would try to install the driver. Then the WLAn card should appear correctly in Device Manager:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

If that doesn t work, you can try a BIOS update.

Are you running the factory settings or you have installed your own version of Windows?

    With regard to the point;

    (a) generally, it should be possible to order the CD of tools & utilities but I ask why?
    (b) you can buy the CD of the ASP in your country
    (c) the older recovery CD is supported by an expert mode. You can use this mode to choose the partition where the OS is to be installed. In this case only, this partition will be formatted.

But look, man. You do not need to order the CD tools & utilities because on this CD, you will only find the Toshiba drivers can be downloaded from the Toshiba page too.
