Satellite Pro A10 PSA15E: update BIOS to use 160 GB HARD drive

Hello

I recently bought a second had Toshiba A10 Pro model reference PSA15E-03U82-EN. I was not able to upgrade the disk hard the 40gig towards a 160gig that I have, but it seems that I need to have the original BIOS boot disk to do this.

How do I keep it? Can I download it and create my own?

Thank you very much

Hello

If I understand you just upgrade you the BIOS to be able to use the 160 GB HARD drive in your notebook

Unfortunately, this is not possible. Of course, you can upgrade the BIOS, but this will not help using the 160HDD.
The BIOS supports a simple limitation of HARD drive and update will not help.

The laptop supports load 20 GB, 30 GB, 40 GB or 60 GB HARD drive. Maybe you can use also a 80 GB HARD drive but I think that the 160 GB is simply too.

I hope I could give you clearly

Best regards

    Hello

When I got my new laptop the first think I did was to install an SSD.

I don't usually use my optical Bay so I am planning to install a HARD drive enclosure.
Someone has already done this, and if so have you had any problems? Also, what are data transfer speeds?

    Thank you

    Fraser

I can't tell you if this extra HARD drive caddy will work in the Satellite Pro C50 series STRANGE Bay - A - 1 K 9 because that depends on the support of the BIOS and the controller.

I read about these updates several times in different forums and to be stone, sometimes it is possible, but in many cases, the BIOS does not recognize this drive caddy HARD and laptop does not start.

In the case where you have already tried these updates, please share the details with us!
I think it would be very interesting for others, if this update worked correctly.

    Hello

    I discovered that this WLan module can run on your laptop Satellite Pro A10;
    LAN (802 11b Agere) PA3212U-4MPC or PA3273U-2MPC card wireless (802. 11a / b).

The upgrade of WLan is not very sensitive. There are two antenna cables which must be connected to the wireless network card. The white cable be connected to the hand and the black cable to the auxiliary voltage

  • Satellite Pro A10 PSA15e - no more wireless Chip

Hi all, I'm new to the forum so please be gentle with me!

I was recently given a Toshiba Satellite Pro A10 (PSA15e-01PJY-EN), unfortunately I did not to any recovery disks! (if someone could send me a copy of the diskette of recovery for this machine, I'd be over the Moon!)

However, I recently tried to install windows xp home with the disc and used the key on the bottom of the laptop.
Installation ran ok, but all of a sudden, he cannot see the port intel LAN.

I ran the likes of Belarc, Device Manager and AIDA... all of a sudden since formatting, nothing can detect the WiFi chip, is this a problem with the fact that I do not use the recovery discs?

I've not disabled in the BIOS, nor can I actually see it in the BIOS.

    Someone at - it suggestions?

    Thank you very much

When you install the operating system using Microsoft facilities CD you naked of OS and you must install drivers for each component material, including the wireless network card.

All drivers and Toshiba tools that you can download at Toshiba support and download page.

  • Satellite Pro A10 PSA15E: Encryption WPA WLan is missing

    I reinstall a Satellite Pro A10 PSA15E-018PC-OF.
The problem I have is to get the WPA available for the wireless network card.
    Do I did wrong.
    Reinstallation of XP SP2 full.
Installed Toshiba drivers. I used the drivers Intel Pro set.

There is nothing wrong! WiFi encryption type depends on the WLan card specifications and not the driver WLan.

If the equipment (WLan card) does not support WPA encryption, then you will be not able to use it! The update of the driver won't help you!

You need to replace the WLan card with another that supports WPA or you are going to buy additional WLan USB key that supports this encryption too.

I had to reinstall Win XP Home - which went well, however - now there is no sound and it says no audio device is installed. I tried to install the audio drivers on the Toshiba CD but they go as far as unpacking but then say "not installed" and Setup stops.

I went to www. support. Toshiba.com and follow the menu to identify which drivers to download? but there are several possibilities for the
Model A - 10 and I am not sure I have listed below models have.

What you mean? On the European driver Toshiba page, you will find only one series Satellite Pro A10.
Once again; Do you have a computer or a Sat Pro A10 laptop satellite A10?

There is a driver of sound for a portable Pro A10. This is a version of audio driver Analog Devices 5.12.01.3542.
If you are using XP SP2 please check the information provided on the page of the driver Tosh

I have upgraded the BIOS to version 2.7 (downloaded on toshiba website) in Satellite Pro 4270 and after her, my bus speed decrease to 250 MHz, so now I have Celeron 250 MHz instead of 500 MHz. You have some suggestions? Where can I find the old version of the BIOS in v2.7?
    Thank you

    HI Artur,

Unfortunately, it is not possible to download an older version of BIOS on yout laptop since the BIOS update procedure is written to test later versions pre-installed and not too write.

You will need to take your laptop to a Service partner certified to have a previous version of the BIOS re-installed.

I use a 3com officeconnect wireless 11g PC Card which works fine until the hard drive failed.

Help, please... I am due to go to the hospital Monday and I wish I could take it with me.

    Thank you

    Hello

Sorry if I write this too late. :(

He's old enough for laptop and I don't know with certainty what is the card inside, but all notebooks with wireless network inside card have a small stick of Wi - Fi at the bottom with number of WLAN card. Using this number in Google, you can identify the card.

Anyway, there is not a lot of possibilities because on the Toshiba support page there are two WLAN drivers listed for your model of laptop. Try to install both of them. One of them must be good.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite Pro A210 - error recovery after a new installation of HARD drive

    Hello

I have a satellite pro 210 (bios v1.6) has died the HARD drive.

I bought a new WD Scorpio Blue 250 GB HARD drive and ran the reinstall drive (I've done exactly this for a friends Equium a month or so back and all worked flawlessy!)

Everything worked fine until the first re-boot, went through the usual stuff:
Please wait a moment while windows starts for the first time
Then a windows background, spinning slider with waiting message please, much HDD activity
    Then the sudden error:
"Installation of Windows could not configure windows to run on a hardware on this computer."

Does anyone have ideas, what it might be?
A google search suggests the sata bios settings, but I do not see in the configuration of the bios page.
In my view, there is a new bios v2 by download - would this help?
If so how can I install it when the computer does not start vista? Or any other suggestions?

    Thanks for reading.

    Cheers, Stephen

    Hello

The SATA driver is not necessary if you use the Toshiba Recovery disk because the image on the recovery disk contains the SATA driver.
So there must be other reason for it.

In your case, I recommend setting the BIOS settings by default and start over once the recovery procedure.
Maybe something went wrong during the configuration of the OS if second installation is worth a try

  • Satellite Pro 6100 Wireless does not work after restoring from HARD drive

After that restore disks for installing a new HD and use and to update XP sp2, the Wireless does not work and if the card is installed XP hangs then works in fits and starts. If the card not in place, not bad at all.

Booting from a Linux CD, the card works perfectly! I assume that the driver is the problem. The wireless card is the original, an Agere MPC13A-20/R, with Toshiba p/n PA317U-1MPC.

I have found some drivers Agere, but am not sure

    (1) if they are correct
    (2) how to install since the machine works in a way limited with the card in place.

    Any advice?

    Hello

I checked the page of the pilot and the only available for Windows XP WLan driver is the driver of v.1.11.108 Agere.

    (1) just try to install this driver. If the driver is not correct or is not compatible, then windows will not install the driver and you will receive a notification. You just have to try

    (2) generally you may reinstall the driver from the Device Manager. Open network controller tree, and then you can reinstall the driver.

But this is only possible if the windows started successfully

PS: Have you checked the information of Microsoft Windows XP SP2 update on the page of the Toshiba driver.
I discovered that you need to update several utilities if you have installed SP2 on this laptop.

  • Satellite A200-1 s 5 - can I use a second HARD drive and RAID?

    Hi all

Toshiba Satellite A200-1 s 5 is eligible to add a second hard drive? It has RAID controller as much I know - it might help?

    Thank you
    Denis

If you have a SATA connector in the second HARD drive Bay, you can use a second HDD. Check it!
Then you can buy each disc HARD what you want with SATA port.

The Satellite A200 doesn't have a RAID controller.

  • I just have to install a new hard drive and Vista on my Toshiba Satellite pro computer laptop I gave up and damage the hard drive.

I can't set up a broadband connection using the cable or wireless such that it does not recognize either. Also, the font is huge and I can't find anywhere to reduce only expand. I also have to install a Toshiba installation disc?

If the installation disc includes the drivers for your motherboard, display and Wi - Fi then yes do you.

You can also find drivers as follows. Go to the Toshiba support website and search for Windows Vista drivers for your specific model number.

    Toshiba support: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp

If there are Windows Vista drivers can download to a folder on your hard drive and install all of them, starting with the card mother/chipset, SATA, USB drivers, Audio, LAN, Etc., and so on.

  • Satellite Pro L300 - how Windows easy transfer on the new HARD drive?

    Hello

I recently got a broken hard drive of a laptop larger than mine.

I would like to put in my computer, but I don't know what would be the way to transfer the partition of installation (or better yet also already installed windows partition).

Will I be able to reinstall linux in a few minutes, but for windows it's something else.
Do you have an idea of the procedure?

The best would be to make a mirror copy, or something like that for me, to have just to extend the size of some partitions.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I recommend the creation of an image.
You can create either an image that contains only the content of a partition or the whole HARD disk content.

There are different image on the market tools. For the most part, you will pay for this software.
But you can also use an internal utility for Microsoft Windows 7. Its share of the Win 7 system.

If you are using Windows 7, I recommend this solution.

Here's a nice page of Microsoft on this tool and how to do it:

  • Satellite Pro A10 - SP2 or 3 slows the performance of XP?

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro A10 PSA15E that, over the years, had become very slow.

Recently, I upgraded it's RAM from 256 to the maximum of 1 GB to try to speed things up, but it did not help.

Then I reformatted the hard drive and reloaded the system using the Toshiba recovery disks. It worked well and the system performance has been excellent. However, with online safety in mind, I loaded the Windows SP2 (to go then to SP3) and it took the system back to where I started - very, very slow, in fact pretty much unusable.

Does anyone know if Toshiba compatible SP2 and SP3 on this laptop model?

If yes how install them without killing performance?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello!

According to me, SP2 or SP3 is supported on this Toshiba laptop because two Service Packs are contains important security updates and I think that's not the problem.

If you install SP2 or SP3 you also get the center of security and better Windows Firewall. Maybe you should disable these two services given that the slowdown in the performance of the system (I always disable the two services).
Just go to start-run-services.msc online online and disable both services and set the startup type to disabled.

    Good bye
