Satellite Pro A100 - HARD drive upgrade
Hi, I have a Satellite Pro A100 with a FUJITSU MHV206OBH HD, he has been faithful and worked for at least three consecutive years, now my HD is filled with data from software etc. etc. I just changed the memory and upgraded to 2 Gygs and really the A100 is now as fast as my Dell XPS. I love my Satellite and want to install a new larger drive,
Has anyone in the forum upgraded to a larger HD, advice, any recommendation of HD, where can I find the service manual for this.
Best regards
Thor Hedderich
Hello
In General, all satellites/Satellite Pro should have SATA hard drives and upgrade is not problematic. You can do this alone.
If your laptop's 60 GB HARD drive only you can improve even with 120 GB or 160 GB.
These hard drives are so cheap.
Is that enough for you?
Replacement is easy to do and you don't need manuals.
The low side is set with a cover of HARD drive screw. On the disc lid HARD is placed also for computer laptop (one of the 4).
-Remove the HARD drive cover
-Remove the HARD drive pack by pulling on the cushion of the battery, following the direction of the arrows
-Place the pack HARD drive on a flat surface (such as a desk) and remove the two cushions
I guess you know now how to put a new.

Satellite Pro U200 - hard drive upgrade
Hello
I have a Satellite Pro U200-128 and you want to upgrade the hard drive. I can't find detailed specifications to show me the compatibility, drive type and therefore the size of a disc that I can buy.
I think that its SATA, but there is a lot of info on SATAII, not sure if it will work in my model?Any help appreciated
Hi ollieg72,
You re right. Satellite Pro U200 already uses the HARD drive with SATA interface if you need a HARD SATA 2.5. In addition, it should be possible to use every ability because on SATA interface, there is no capacity limit.
Anyway, SATAII HDD is also working because they are compatible to the old interface of SATA1 downgrade. So it makes no difference if the HDD is SATAII interface or not. ;)

Satellite Pro A100-830 - HDD upgrade questions
I'm a complete noob so please forgive my silly question!
I would like to replace my laptop HARD drive, is there any combatibilty issues I should be aware of, or is it just a case of getting a HARD drive 2.5 "?
Is it easy to buy an external and use the internal drive inside the case?
This seems to be the best way to the value of doing. Specific recommendations?
Thank you!Hi magicmat,
Generally upgrade the HARD drive is not complicated, and that's why you only have to remove the cover of the HARD drive on the lower side of your laptop to replace the HARD drive.
Satellite Pro A100 already use hard disks with SATA interface so you have such a HARD drive. In addition, I would recommend a 5400 RPM model because it s quite fast and doesn t a lot of power.
So that s what you need to know about upgrading. Theoretically, you can use the old or an external HDD with an external HARD drive enclosure. Also no problem. :)

Satellite Pro A100: Display Driver ATI Mobile Radeon X 1400 WinXP
Hello there :)
I have browsed the forum and could not find another thread that helps me. I have a Satellite pro A100 PSAACE laptop, equipped with a Mobile Radeon X 1400 graphics card. Now, I was informed by the games that I play that drivers are up-to-date. I think it is true that in the last few days, I formatted my laptop and then only initial drivers from the disc of recovery of the product are to be used.
I visit the ATI site, and they inform me that I have to contact my laptop to the manufacturer (that Toshiba are not in the list of supported manufacturers) in order to get the new drivers. If I remember I should get all my updates page to download the driver from this Web site. The only problem is that apparently he not there no update driver for the graphics card (to share for one for Vista).
I recently reformatted my computer using recovery of product, and so that's why I was after the new driver. I don't remember for sure, but I'm pretty confident that I have already downloaded a updated driver for my graphic chipset during the last 14 months of use (before formatting my hard drive).
Now, if someone could offer any help to find the driver, or have information about the problem, it would be highly appreciated. Once more, my specs (you need to enter on the page of the driver) are portable series A100, PSAAC, PSAACE, and I use Windows XP.
Thanks for reading, and I would appreciate any feedback whatsoever.
Hello
You can find the display drivers at the following location:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com (Support & downloads), choose your type of laptop and then download the ATI display drivers.Make sure that you select Windows XP as the operating system. Check it out.
But note that the display drivers for laptop computers are not updated as often as for desktop PCs. If you encounter serious problems with your real driver version then just leave it.
You can find the other drivers on the internet, but to use at your own risk.

Satellite Pro A100 - PSAAAE CPU upgrade
Hi Toshiba,
I have an old * Satellite Pro A100 * _PSAAAE-type_ and I would like to upgrade the processor. I have seen that is 479, and I found that there are the Core 2 Duo on this plug. The 945GM chipset supports Core 2 Duo, but I don't know if my laptop BIOS supports these CPU.
Someone can confirm or not?
Thanks in advance.
Hello
In General, upgrading the CPU is not recommended.
Of course, you can use the processors that are supported by the chipset, but the BIOS compatibility is another story. No one can tell if your laptop would be stable after this upgrade due to the higher heat dissipation. But I read in this forum that some guys have upgraded the processor and the laptop still works

Satellite A50-111 - HARD drive upgrade
Hello!
I need to upgrade hard drive of my laptop because it is very slow. However, I know it's a 60 GB to factory-installed 4200 RPM.
I'm ready to be upgraded to a fast 7200 RPM, if possible, with a decent capacity, but I'm not sure of the supported hard drive type (IDE?, 2.5?) is a model of 5 years. In my view, there are incompatibilities with the laptops today, hard drive formats, so I really need help.
Thank you very much for your help! These are the specs on the site
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/JSP/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=EU&com.broadvis ion.session.new = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 97598Hey Buddy,
In my opinion the HARD drive upgrade will not increase performance well then you should try the other options first as reinstalling Windows, or upgrade the RAM.
Anyway, Satellite A50 use IDE interface, so you can use hard disks of 120 GB of disk space.
Of course, you can take a model at 7200 RPM, but they need more energy and produce more noise.
I recommend a 120 GB 5400 RPM model. That s pretty fast! -
Satellite A100 - hard drive upgrade
Hi all
I want to improve my Satellite A100-847 with disk bigger and harder. I chose hitachi "travelstar", like the original, but running on 7200 RPM. My question is can I use SATA II 3 Gb/s model, or should I choose SATA I 1.5 Gb/s as the original. because if my laptop does not support SATA II, the hard drive will not work.
Thanks in advance!
Well, as far as I know the A100-847 supports a SATA interface.
SATA II drives are backward compatible, but may not work with some older motherboards. If I you would be then I would not risk compatibility problems and choose the SATA/150 (SATA I) HARD drive.
In this case, you can be sure that your new HARD drive would be recognized correctly. In addition, you must make sure that your new HARD drive size would be too strong.
The fact is that not all HARD drive sizes are supported by the BIOS.You device was equipped with a 100 GB HARD drive. Am I wrong? Well, in this case, you might try some 120GB, 160GB and maybe a 200 GB HARD drive.
Best regards

Satellite Pro A200 - hard drive has lost half it's memory
I have a toshiba Satellite Pro A200 on Vista. Vista came preloaded and I not all disks for it. I got it from the new (Sept 2007). The hard disk is divided into units. Recently my C drive has filled competely and I now no space left (went 55gigs) I store some data in this drive. All my multimedia elements (music, photos, and other files) is in my E drive. I have to run C Cleaner whenever I start in order to have enough space for the operation of the computer. I also remove all but the last restore point in order to function.
I am at my wits end and think I must have a virus or something. Is there a way to restore the computer to the 'new '? I have all my files backed up on an external hard drive, so I don't mind from scratch. Not keeping in mind I have no install discs as Vista came preloaded.
Can anyone help? Please, I beg you!
Hello
If you don't have a recovery disk, you can order from Toshiba for the money. Otherwise, you can get copy of Windows and installed with the drivers of Toshiba (http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp)
Then, you mentioned that hard drive has lost half it's memory, tell you if it was ok before but not available? Please check disk management, utility of the Panel. What is shown here? -
Satellite P200D-139 - HARD drive upgrade options
I received a P200D-139 and there seem to be two 40GB hard drives.
I want to upgrade if I put Windows 7 on it.
I have updated the BIOS, so how big a drive can I put into each slot of the HARD drive?
I'm also going to 4 GB of RAM.
See you soon
Gary1857
Hello
Satellite or Equium P200D series was equipped with SATA HDD.
This means that mobile supports the SATA HDD controller, which means that we must avoid any physical limitation.Usually, you can use any HARD drive 2.5 SATA
But I think that 320 HARD drive should be good enough
What do you think? -
Satellite Pro M40: HARD drive replacement
Hello
I recently bought a new hard drive for my satellite pro m40 like my old man, we broke up I put the hard drive in the machine properly and it's the same speed, size etc, but the laptop does not recognize it at all.
I tried to swap back to the old hard drive and he acknowledges, the news is a number of slightly different model a new the original is mk6022gax and original is mk6026gax. the two 60 GB, I am told. Please help me if you can.
Thank you.
Hi Ollie,
The only reason I can think is that the new hard drive is may not be configured correctly for your laptop. I know that some Toshiba drives are supplied as C - salt rather than the more usual master configuration, but these are normally reported as such on the nameplate.
It is possible to change the setting of the drive (see the following URL for details) http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/storage/p69067/jumpers.htm
It is also possible that the new disk is defective (unlikely but it should be considered).
Kind regards

Hello
You must first install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager before you continue the installation of XP.
It s a same as RAID driver installation procedure
You need to press F6 during installation to include the necessary files of the Intel Matrix Storage ManagerI found this on the page of Intel:
http://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/Filter_Results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2101&OS FullName = Windows * + XP + Professional & lang = eng & strOSs = 44 & submit = Go %21Good luck and thanks for posting the results

On Satellite Pro 6100 HARD drive password
Hello
I have an almost dead Satellite Pro 6100, I was almost back on its feet, but we wonder a HHD password on start up. Apparently, one of the portable computers security features is "Password HARD drive on request".
There were ideas! Cannot ask the laptop I can't!
When the HARD drive password is set, and you start the laptop you must enter this password. Otherwise the drive will not spin.
The functionality of the HARD drive password is to secure the data on the disc. If you do not have the password: no chance to use the HARD drive.
So if you can't enter or ask for the password you must swap the HARD drive.Buy the way it is always strange if someone "owns" a laptop and one does not know the passwords! If you bought the computer laptop may it is stolen...

Satellitre Pro 2100 hard drive upgrade
Hello
I bought a Satellite Pro 2100 2 years with an internal 30 GB hard drive.
I would like to replace the hard diskwith a 60 GB model.
Is this possible and if yes, what models can be used (can I do it myself)?
Stefan
Hi Stefan
In the lower corner of your laptop, there is the cover of the HARD drive and disc HARD exchange is not complicated. I'm sure that 60 GB HARD drive can be built in.
In my opinion you should take some information about it. You can contact the Service partner in your country or it is also possible to find a supplier of HARD drive on the net. They have information specific to which HARD drive fits a certain model of laptop.

On Satellite Pro A10 HARD drive replacement
Hi all
Ive currently got my moms Satellite Pro A10 sitting in front of me. Wouldn't load XP at all so I downloaded Knoppix and ran the liveCD on the laptop. After some tests, it seems that the HARD drive has failed.
The vehicle currently has a 30GB HDD (MK3021GAS HDD2182 B ZE01 T) with a rated output DC + 5V 0. 7A.
Told me that any HARD drive would work so I ordered a replacement of 100 GB of Fuji, except its a little too long to drive HARD case and it seems to be the cause of my power light flashes orange. Rated power on it is + 5V 0.55 a.
Im stuck, what do I do?
Hello
> told me that any HARD drive would work as well
It is not quite correct! There are material limitations.I discovered that the phone supports 20 GB; 30 GB; 40 GB and possibly a 60 GB HARD drive.
I m not 100% sure of more HARD drive sizes due to the limitation of the BIOS.
You should know that not all HARD drive sizes are recognized by the BIOS.Further, you should take a look at the supported interface.
The laptop supports an Enhanced IDE (ATA-5) interface and that's why you should buy a HARD drive that require this kind of hardware specification. -
