Satellite Pro A120: I have a warranty available without proof of purchase?

Hello

My laptop Toshiba Satellite pro A120 computer has been giving me problems after problems; I posted my problems everywhere online on popular technical websites, but without a lot of help similarly really cleaver people;

I bought this new laptop a companion, who got the laptop from his University under a credit. Laptop computer was brand new, it was not open yet, and the box was all stickers, serial numbers, also the address of the man in the Middle maybe the company or purchased from the dealer.

The problem is that my friend has lost the receipt that was given to him. Can I still get a fix for my laptop, even without a receipt? I have the box and all the other info written about, they can check that the laptop is indeed legitimate.

Thank you very much, and I hope to read some good news for everyone.

Mo98183.

Hmmm usually you ALWAYS a check for sales to prove that the device was purchased within a reasonable time and that this unit belongs to you
To my knowledge if this laptop has been saved on the Toshiba supports site then the spans two years guarantee must be valid. The Toshiba service partner should then be able to check whether the warranty laptops is still valid.

I think you should definitely contact the ASP in your country for details on the restrictions of the warranty and how to manage if something will be wrong with your hardware for laptops.

I installed windows 2000 on an A120, the system is fully packed and service updated before I even start to install the necessary drivers, I am unable to restart the system. I once, install as recommended drivers that I have problems with the graphics driver because it will not be installed because it requires a reboot and then I can't install new programs that require a restart that the driver has not been installed correctly.

The laptop is a Pro A120, age of 1 week and came with XP home, because of this toshiba will not offer me support I changed the o/s even though they obviously support 2000 on this laptop, because they provide the drivers.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

Did you use and install the drivers from the Toshiba driver page right?
The drivers of Toshiba W2k for Satellite Pro A120 have been published and are ready!

But please pay attention to the Toshiba drivers.
There are two different sets of Satellite Pro A120, with different drivers W2k!
After choosing the good laptop and download the drivers please follow the proper installation order that is indicated in the document "installation instructions"! Check it!

I think that if you follow this guide line everything works and runs correctly. Good luck

  • Satellite Pro A120 and keyboard replacement

Can someone let me know what the procedure for a keyboard replacement for a laptop Satellite Pro A120 of out-of-warranty in the United Kingdom.

    Thank you

Well, you can order the compatible keyboard of the ASP in your country.

The addresses and telephone numbers, which you can find here:

http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-> support download &-> find an authorized service provider

You can also ask ASP for keyboard replacement.
But it s a pity that your warranty is invalid. :( So you will have to pay for the replacement.

In any case, the replacement of keyboard is not very delicate, and if you have a bit of experience then you can replace this keyboard by yourself.
To remove the keyboard, follow these steps:

    1. turn the computer.
    2. open the screen and make it flat.
3 insert the tip of your finger into the slot on each side and remove the door-keyboard. It is a small plastic above the F1 - F12 buttons cover.
    4. remove the 2 screws flat head, securing the keyboard.
    5. lift the upper part of the keyboard while freeing up the hook and lower the face of keyboard on the palm rest.
    6. remove a screw support plate and the keyboard.
7 disconnect the cable from the keyboard connector on the system board and remove the keyboard.

But note; Be always careful and don't use force to remove all the parts.

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro A120 - cooling fan runs constantly

    Hello

Bought a satellite pro A120 "Intel centrino duo" in January and for the last two weeks, the fan runs continuously. Even when the cold portable OS, it runs complete but even just word processing or done yesterday it runs very hot. I need to access the fan to have a look for dust etc but I couldn't for access!

If anyone knows how that would be great. Either that or somebody can suggest any way to stop the laptop gets so hot. I tried on mode low power - without change, and it also works on different surfaces, but no change.

Any help much appreciated. Thank you

    Hello Dougie

In my opinion you should not do much and check anything because your laptop is new and under warranty. If something is suspicious to you, please contact your dealer local or much better is to contact directly the authorized services.

Explain the situation and let it check your laptop.

  • Satellite Pro A120 (PSAC0E) does not start after upgrading RAM

    Hello

I hope someone can help me here, I recently bought a Satellite Pro A120 (PSAC0E) and decided to upgrade the RAM. I bought a stick of 512 MB of curries with the following specifications: DDR PC2700 200-pin 333 Mhz SODIMM (64 x 64).

However, the first problem I encountered was an alignment problem. A little effort and handling solved this, but after you insert the RAM into the available slot, the computer laptop wouldn't boot, and instead, I had the flashing sequence on the LED from 2,3,3.

I was told it might be a problem matching, then tried to remove the original RAM and booting with just the new stick, still the same error. I tried it in the slots and still no joy. It starts very well with the original 256 MB of RAM, but refuses to take the new RAM.

Are there any known issues? Can anyone suggest something that I can do wrong? I followed the usual steps of upgrade to remove all power cables and the battery before the upgrade, but still no joy.

Hoping that someone is able to help!

    Hi James

You simply have bad memory modules and is not a compatible uses.

    > the first problem I encountered was an alignment problem. A little effort and handling solved this,

This should not happen! The right modules can be inserted without any problem of alignment!
    Handling can damage the module!

In my opinion, you should use another and supported the RAM module.

To my knowledge, you can use the PA3512U-1M1G (DDR2-667 1 GB Memory Kit) or (PA3411U-2M1G) DDR2-533 1 GB
    The two should be compatible.

  • Replace a keyboard on a Satellite Pro A120

Can someone guide me through the replacement of the keyboard on this device please?

    Thank you
    Steve

    Hello

Usually something like this should be done by a technician because the replacement of the keyboard could cancel the validity of the warranty!
    Anyway.
To set the keyboard with the 2 screws that are hidden beneath the thin cover above the F1, F2, etc. keys

-Insert the tip of your finger into the slot on each side and remove the door-keyboard.
-Remove the 2 screws securing the keyboard.
-Lift the upper part of the keyboard while freeing up the hook and turn the keyboard
    face down on the palmrest.
-Remove the 1 screw and plate of keyboard.
-Disconnect the keyboard cable from the CN3230 connector on the system board and
    Remove the keyboard.

All that s. But as said above, if you have no experience and don't want to lose the warranty, contact the technician!

  • What is the correct way to "downgrade" from Vista to XP on Satellite Pro A120?

I want to downgrade to XP. I have a Satellite Pro A120 PSAC1E. How should I proceed? TIA.

    Hello

First of all see if all drivers are available for this machine.
    You can check this link:

    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp
    http://209.167.114.38/support/download/ln_byModel.asp

Then download the drivers and burn them to a CD/DVD. Back up your data on a DVD or external HARD drive.
After you have done all these things, just put the CD in your drive and install XP and then install all the drivers and you'll be lucky.

Please ask, if you have any questions...

    Welcome them

  • Satellite Pro A120: How do I remove the CD/DVD drive

I have 2 main problems and doesn't seem to completely open the case.
Does anyone know how to remove the dvd - rom?

But my mainproblem is swith power Ribbon (blue) has come off the motherboard. But as I can't open completely the case im with tweezers for trying to recconect.

Does not seem to want to go.
Is there a clip into the connector on the motherboard or is it just push in? A picture or a diagram would be helpful.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

One question; Why are you doing this?
I mean why you want to open the notebook?
Always it is that Satellite Pro A120 is not an old notebook and I presume that the guarantee is valid.
If you remove the lid of the laptop, you will lose the warranty!

The removal of CD/DVD is very easy.
Usually, it is fixed with a screw located at the bottom of the unit. You have to remove first, and then he should be able to take off from the STRANGE.

  • Satellite Pro A120 (PSAC1A-073004) replacement battery

I have a 3-4 year old Toshiba Satellite Pro A120 (model PSAC1A-073004) who needs a new battery as the current within 10 minutes of the available battery.

The current battery in the laptop's manufacturer PA3285U-3BAS a Toshiba 6 cells Li-ion primary battery.

However, after contacting several local Australian retailers, they tell me that Toshiba has discontinued this particular part number.

Are you able to advise me if this is indeed the case?

If so, could you suggest the number of part of an appropriate substitute for the main battery?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I don't know the situation in Australia, but I can't imagine Toshiba ceased production of this battery.
Put this number in Google and you will find many shops online in the world where you can order this battery.

  • Satellite Pro A120 (PSAC1E) - TV problem

    Hello
My laptop "Satellite Pro A120 (PSAC1E)" computer does not connect to any type of TV (digital or analog). I tried many different kind of connections to SCART-VGA to VGA-HDMI. I think something is wrong with the VGA output because apparently the Intel graphic card supports the TV/monitor output as the software driver suggests. However, I can't connect the laptop to an external monitor rather easily and without hassle.
Someone there has the same problem and if so, do you have a solution to this problem (everything!).

    Thank you

    KAV

    Hello

As far as I know NOT ALL Satellite Pro A120 PSAC1E are equipped with the video output jack!
I see you are using an external monitor connector!
This port can ONLY be used with external display (screen) or a projector, but NOT with the TV!

The TV can be connected to the s-video port that is not available!

  • On my Satellite Pro A120 possibly defective keyboard controller

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120-223 dual core and that's my problem with the keyboard.

I get this irritating message at the start with BEEBS, where it says PXE - E61 Media Test Failure among others. Then I opened it everything and put everything back once again, the problem seems to go away at first and then comes back, this time, when everything starts up; the letter a? NA? is continually and automatically entered on the research that I click on.

I later bought a new keyboard, and all kind of went well until the 3rd day with my new keyboard. The problem is back!

I did research on my problem online, and realizes that the keyboard controller may be at fault here. I don't think the keyboard is defective, it is brand new and I typed hardly something with her, I also took extra precautions when connecting the cable to the system.

If it is the controller, should what steps and procedures I take in order to define precisely the problem, or perhaps to resolve?

I don't have a warranty on this machine, and I'm not too eager to spend huge sums on a new motherboard, but I'm ready to if it is necessary.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi mate,

the first error message "PXE - E61 Media Test Failure" is more related startup, so another order of boot (HDD-> CDROM->-> NETWORK FDD) probably solves this problem.

With regard to your controller keyboard problem: I think that the cable must be realigned PROPERLY since these errors come from a misaligned keyboard cable or a really damaged keyboard controller (where I am skeptical that the keyboard controller is broken).

I know that you have taken additional precautions when connecting the keyboard, but this time took a few extra super uber mega special care when connecting it. Especially during the connection, check that the small black hook that keeps the cable is properly glued on the port.

Would appreciate feedback on your part...

    See you soon

  • Satellite Pro A120 PSAC1E: Cannot burn DVD-RAM

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro A120 PSAC1E, who owns a DVD player, I tried to write on a DVD RAM, and he says the copy is write protected, I checked help and it says to install the driver of DVD from tools and disk utilities, but I can't find the drive with the rest of the bits provided with the computer when I got it earlier.

Is there anywhere I can download this driver?
    Thank you

    Hello
One question; What operating system do you use? Looking for XP or Vista drivers?
The Toshiba driver page provides all the necessary drivers. There is a new update 5.20 - B70A DLA . CA? OS independent and Ca s? s a good idea to install it.
This is the problem for writing or formatting DVD-RAM disk.

PS; The DVD-RAM driver is also available but only for W2k
The XP and W2k DVD-RAM driver is available by satellite Pro A120 PSAC0E

  • Prerequisites for the replacement of Windows XP for Satellite Pro A120-107

I don't know that it will have been asked before, however...

I received a Satellite Pro A120-107 XP. Because XP is not supported, I would like to upgrade to Windows 7, 8 or 8.1. Who should I go for?

I think I need to improve my memory (currently 512 MB) at least 1 GB. Or should I go to 2 GB. Which would be better?

And I need a BIOS upgrade? He is currently using vn 1.50 08/24/2006. If I do, what version?

In your case, I'll try to install Win 7 on this good old classic.

8.1 Win is the latest system from Microsoft but I'm afraid, you will have some problems with drivers m.

Win 7 would be the best choice in this case
