Satellite Pro A200 - is possible that I can reinstall Vista?

Hello

I bought an A200 a couple of years pre-installed with Vista Home Premium.

Recently, I caught a virus and had to re - install windows I've tried in vain the recovery disc I made of the Toshiba Recovery program. After several attempts I decided to install Ubuntu 9.1 instead, I was happy with, however certain features, as the no sound via HDMI, did not work then I would reinstall Vista.

In my view, that for pre-installed Vista installation files are on a partition somewhere on my A200.
Is there a way I can re - install Vista?

Thank you

Hello

You can only use the Toshiba Recovery disk or a disk of Microsoft Vista.
I presume that drive HARD recovery was not available for this model of laptop, but even if it is available, you wouldn't be able to start because you have installed Linux

So you have just two solutions mentioned; disk recovery or MS Vista.

Welcome them

    Hello

Looks more like a graphics card problem
You said it happens is that this means that if you start the laptop everything displays correctly and after awhile of use of this problem appears?

Perhaps a higher internal temperature affects the graphics chip and this is why this display problem appears.

Just a question; Have you tried to update the graphics driver?
    You should do this certainly

But if the question will always be, the chances are high that a hardware malfunction causing this display problem.

It is not possible to update the firmware on your SD-L802B drive because the firmware released on the Toshiba page deigned for the TS-L802A drive.
Do not mix these two discs! It is not the same thing!

I found this site on the engraver of DVD Super-Multi SD-L802B

But according to this page, the firmware is not available for this driver (at this time?  :|)

  • Re: Satellite Pro A200: can I get the drivers of preinstallation discs?

I have Toshiba Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE1E) with XP Pro.

I made a mistake and tried to update the Realtek audio drivers, knit drivers, but does not show the Realtek HD Audio Control Panel to the top, not in the system tray, or in the Control Panel folder.
I contacted Realtek, they gave me a program that analyzed my HW and then they said that my phone is not supported, I must ask the crazy drivers my manufacturer, laptops, Toshiba.

I tried the drivers that were running [Toshiba - download drivers | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp] page, but those who did not work either.

So, there is one thing I can do, if it is possible, how can I get drivers of Toshiba recovery disks, without having to reinstall everything again?

Something like this is not possible. Recovery image is somehow the package, you can not only pilots.
Have you tried to roll back the OS (System Restore) before you did this updates?

  • Can I go by Satellite Pro A200-1YK?

    Hello

I have the Satellite Pro A200-1YK with the following features
    1 Intel® Pentium® Dual - Core T2330 1.6 GHz processor
    2 2048 (1024 + 1024) MB of RAM DDR2 (667 MHz)
    3. 200 GB hard drive

Can I upgrade the RAM to 4 GB (2048 + 2048)? If so, should it be DDR2 or DDR3?

I have my hard drive can too? If so, the system will support 500 GB of hard drive? If so, what would be the model/product that you recommend?

With change of RAM, I have to update the drivers? If so, what are they?

    Hey,.

The two components, you can upgrade: RAM and HARD drive.

    Upgrade of RAM:
According to the specifications of the Satellite Pro A200 1YK it uses an Intel GL960 Express Chipset. This means it supports up to 2 GB of RAM and so an upgrade is not possible because you already have 2GB.
Here are the specifications of your chipset:
    http://Ark.Intel.com/chipset.aspx?FamilyId=26558

    Update HARD drive:
I think that on the upgrade of the disk HARD, there is no capacity limit because your laptop already supports SATA interface.
So I guess that 500 GB should be no problem. You need a portable 2.5 HARD drive with SATA interface and that s all! :)

  • Satellite Pro A200: XP + Vista possible installed dual boot?

    Hello

I don't know if I'm here the XP OS but I post because it is OS related.

My Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE7) works well with XP but I want to create a sandbox (partition) for/with Vista.

Basically, I know that it is possible to run XP and Vista on a system. * Goal *, computers laptops satellite Pro A200 are delivered with a BIOS for XP and Vista, and with the information you need to install the right pair. For me, this means that you will install the BIOS for XP when running BIOS for Vista and XP in Vista.

    Question:
Is it possible to install Vista on a Satellite Pro A200 with XP as main OS and have installed XP BIOS?
Boot loader would be Acronis OSS like this charger already managing my two XP partitions.

Thank you very much for any information!

    Best regards

    Hello

In my opinion there is no serious reason, why you should t be able to use Xp and Vista on your Satellite Pro A200.

Okay, there's a different BIOS for Vista 64-bit, 32-bit and Win XP, but your Vista should also work using the BIOS for Win XP.

I have other laptops Satellite series and I m able to use XP and Vista at the same time. I mean I have a choice to start Vista or XP ;) and I m still using the old version of the BIOS.
OK some functions are not available as FN keys, but this is not very important for me.

Well, to cut this story, I think you can use Vista and XP without changing the BIOS ;)

I can use it on Windows 7 x 64? I see that there are not all drivers are in the 64-bit version, so I want to know if everything will work property with 64-bit Windows?

    Thanks for the reply

    Mario

    Hey Buddy,

You re right. After the download European driver Toshiba for Windows 7 64-bit are not all drivers available. I checked the downloads for Vista 64-bit and all the drivers you need are available.

Drivers Vista and Windows 7 are similar, then you can try to use the 64 bit Vista drivers. Most Vista drivers work on Windows 7.

In addition if something does not work you can use other Satellite A300 drivers for example. This laptop supports Windows 7 64 bit and the drivers should be similar, in my opinion.

    Good luck! :)

  • Can what internal HD I use on my Satellite Pro A200 PSAE1E-01700EN5

I need to replace broken my laptop internal HD. I was wondering, what HD internal I can for Satellite Pro A200 PSAE1E-01700EN5?

The only one available to order for cheap's grand 250 GB, but my laptop will support it? I have 80 GB.

    Hello

The Satellite A200 is a notebook of new generation that supports a SATA HDD controller.
In my opinion, you can use a larger SATA 2.5 HARD drive like 200 or 250 GB.

    The laptop establish any problems!

    Check it out!

  • Satellite Pro A200 PSAE1E: Can't get the shortcut keys don't work on Win XP

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro A200 PSAE1E that came with Vista on it, I reinstalled Win XP Pro installed with relevant drivers download Toshiba page but cannot get working shortcut keys.

I installed the controls and the driver, but that doesn't seem to work. Saw an ad on "common module" somewhere, but can't seem to find any links to download on the download page.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you very much

    Iain

The control utility and driver controls allow you to customize and TOSHIBA special button preset settings. But it is not a FN keys!

You must install the Hotkey utility if you want to use the FN keys.

    Another tip:
It is important that all Toshiba drivers and utilities are installed in the correct order.
On the Toshiba driver page, you will find a txt file called installation instructions.
Please install all drivers and tools in the order mentioned in this instruction!

  • Satellite Pro A200-16N: can I use the recovery CD after upgrade to Vista

    HII!

IM thinking of upgrading to windows vista on my Satellite Pro A200-16N and I ran the pre-upgrade of windows vista from microsoft website and it says that my system will be in charge of windows vista so im ok about it.

The problem is that if my laptop was to break or something like that at some point, will my recovery CD provided by toshiba to work always on the laptop with windows vista?
They will return the laptop for windows xp or from my laptop has another operating system they will not work?

    Also...
    What's the deal with BIOS? : S
    I don't understand!
If I were to upgrade to windows vista should I upgrade my BIOS before or after the upgrade to vista?
As I download the new drivers before upgrading Yes?

    Thank you!

The restore CD will of course work.
The recovery CD will always set the laptop back to the factory settings. This means that the whole HARD drive will be formatted and the image of Toshiba will be installed.

    > What's the deal with BIOS? I put t understand!
    > If I were to upgrade to windows vista should I upgrade my BIOS before or after the upgrade to vista?
To my knowledge, that this laptop was already shipped with Vista, so you need not update the BIOS if you want to reinstall Vista.

Some series Satellite A200 needs a BIOS update if you want to use the XP.
In such cases, it s advisable to upgrade the BIOS to version XP first, then install OS X.

  • Satellite Pro A200 - shows only 3 GB instead of 4 GB of RAM

    Hello

2 years ago I had a Satellite Pro A200 as a professional laptop and it works with XP SP2, later with SP3. With 2 GB, it shows 2 GB memory in Windows - and I know it's a Radeon 7500 with 256 MB memory graphics individual, and there is no shared memory.

I upgraded to 4 GB, but Windows shows exactly 3 GB. BIOS shows 4 GB and ATI system monitor shows 4 GB. I know that 4 GB is not possible under XP 32-bit, only on Windows 2003 R2 32 bit or Vista - but on desktop systems, I've seen values between 3.3 and 3.7 GB.

So, where's the memory? It looks like a bug - the chips of memory have two 2 GB I checked this. Because it's a company laptop I can not just switch to 64-bit XP :-(

There's no option in the BIOS - first I thought that it is the graphics card, but mine has independent graphics with own memory so that the computer comes up with MB 2048 or 4096 after the upgrade.

Shared memory would show about 1900 MB of RAM for the operating system as my private EEEpc.

    Hi shadowmaster_1,

    > I know that 4 GB is not possible under XP 32 bit
Then why do you ask this question here if you already know? Moreover, it s not a limitation in XP, it s a material limitation on all 32-bit systems

    > only on Windows 2003 R2 32 bit or Vista
And who says that Windows 2003 or Vista can use 4 GB? Okay, there's an update for Vista where 4 GB correct displayed in system properties, but that doesn't make no difference. Vista 32 bit peut t use all of 4GB, it s only cosmetic improvements! ;)

    > So where is memory?
Memory is installed on your computer, but can t be used complelty with a 32 bit OS.

At the end of the story: If you want to use 4 GB, you need to install a 64 bit OS. On all the 32 bit OS, you can use only upward to ~3.2GB RAM!

  • Satellite Pro A200: How to create Dual boot; Vista & XP using the recovery CD

I just bought a laptop Satellite Pro A200, which was supplied with the product for Vista and XP Recovery discs.
The license specifically Vista also XP licenses.
Can I set up a dual boot so that I can boot to Vista or XP? If so, how?

I would also like a third boot, Red Hat Linux 9.
    Any comments?

Hmmm. Usually it s possible to use two or more operating systems on the computer, but as far as I know the Toshiba Vista recovery CD formats whole disk when installing Vista and this will lead to the loss of the OS installed.
I m not 100% sure on the recovery of the newest XP CD called RECON doesn t CD include an expert mode which allows to choose between the different partitions.

So I guess that each use the recovery CD will format the HARD drive and erase the installed data. But of course, you can try to install the two BONES and to check if the restore XP CD allows to choose the second part of the installation of the OS.

If it does not, it seems that you will need to an original XP from Microsoft CD or the original CD of Vista to use the two BONES.
