Satellite Pro A200 - shows only 3 GB instead of 4 GB of RAM
Hello
2 years ago I had a Satellite Pro A200 as a professional laptop and it works with XP SP2, later with SP3. With 2 GB, it shows 2 GB memory in Windows - and I know it's a Radeon 7500 with 256 MB memory graphics individual, and there is no shared memory.
I upgraded to 4 GB, but Windows shows exactly 3 GB. BIOS shows 4 GB and ATI system monitor shows 4 GB. I know that 4 GB is not possible under XP 32-bit, only on Windows 2003 R2 32 bit or Vista - but on desktop systems, I've seen values between 3.3 and 3.7 GB.
So, where's the memory? It looks like a bug - the chips of memory have two 2 GB I checked this. Because it's a company laptop I can not just switch to 64-bit XP :-(
There's no option in the BIOS - first I thought that it is the graphics card, but mine has independent graphics with own memory so that the computer comes up with MB 2048 or 4096 after the upgrade.
Shared memory would show about 1900 MB of RAM for the operating system as my private EEEpc.
Hi shadowmaster_1,
> I know that 4 GB is not possible under XP 32 bit
Then why do you ask this question here if you already know? Moreover, it s not a limitation in XP, it s a material limitation on all 32-bit systems
> only on Windows 2003 R2 32 bit or Vista
And who says that Windows 2003 or Vista can use 4 GB? Okay, there's an update for Vista where 4 GB correct displayed in system properties, but that doesn't make no difference. Vista 32 bit peut t use all of 4GB, it s only cosmetic improvements! ;)
> So where is memory?
Memory is installed on your computer, but can t be used complelty with a 32 bit OS.
At the end of the story: If you want to use 4 GB, you need to install a 64 bit OS. On all the 32 bit OS, you can use only upward to ~3.2GB RAM!

I think that problem is in the Bios, it does not recognize the 4 GB, but only 3 GB.

Satellite L30 PSL33E shows only 896 MB instead of 1024 MB
I bought a PSL33E with 512 MB of memory. I upgraded to 1024Mo by adding a second SAMSUNG 512 MB, exactly equal to the original. Instead of 1024 MB, it displays only 896 MB. What is the reason for this difference?
Is something related to the video memory, 128 MB, or can I have a problem in the computer? I removed the memory and it shows 448MB, boths memories and in both slots.
Hello
You have a shared memory graphics card?
The actions of graphics memory shared the part of main memory and, therefore, the main memory does not show the full 1024Mo.
It seems that the difference of 128 MB (1024 MB - 896 MB = 128 MB) is used by the graphics card.
It's nothing wrong and nothing wrong. So don t worry buddy. Everything looks ok ;)Greetings

Tecra M10 - Diagnostic mode shows only 3 GB instead of 4 GB of RAM
Hello
I have 2 Tecra M10-133 and M10J. In both cases, the system BIOS shows 4 GB (4096 MB) memory total. When I activate the Diagnostic Mode (Enable) and restart the system, this shows the following:
3072MB MEMORY CHECK 1 OK
3072MB MEMORY CHECK 2 OK
3072MB MEMORY CHECK 3 OK
3072MB MEMORY CHECK 4 OKSome body knows the reason why does not not the 4096MB of RAM?
Thank you very much..!
Hello
I'm not very well why the diagnosis Mode shows same 3072MB 4 GB are inserted m but what value of memory is reported by the Windows operating system?
Windows recognizes the full 4 GB of RAM?I should mention that only 64-bit OS can use and recognize the full 4 GB of RAM.
The 32 bit OS will recognize as the 3.2 GBThe other thing is that the graphics card uses part of the RAM, but generally, this should not affect the Diagnostic Mode.
However, check your BIOS version and if more recent BIOS was released, then I recommend you to update.

Hey Buddy
For several years he s already known that the Windows 32 bit doesn t recognize all of the 4 GB due to the limitation of the 32 bit OS.
I think you should visit the Microsoft good, old for details ;)For example this one:

Satellite Pro A200 - SD card works only on Windows 7
Hello
I tried to install Windows 7 rtm downloaded from the MSDN site. Once I installed it, my Satellite Pro A200 works fine, but the built in SD card reader does not work, that nothing happens when I insert an SD card, it is not recognized.
Can anyone of you help me?Thank you very much.
Francesco.
Excuse for my English.
Hello
Have you installed a driver for the SD card?
OK you will not find a Windows 7 driver yet, but most of the Vista drivers are also work on Windows 7.Normally you need a driver for the SD card, so you may notice yellow exclamation in Device Manager?
What types of SD cards are you trying? In the user manual, you can find a list of supported SD cards.

Re: Satellite Pro A200: can I get the drivers of preinstallation discs?
I have Toshiba Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE1E) with XP Pro.
I made a mistake and tried to update the Realtek audio drivers, knit drivers, but does not show the Realtek HD Audio Control Panel to the top, not in the system tray, or in the Control Panel folder.
I contacted Realtek, they gave me a program that analyzed my HW and then they said that my phone is not supported, I must ask the crazy drivers my manufacturer, laptops, Toshiba.I tried the drivers that were running [Toshiba - download drivers | http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp] page, but those who did not work either.
So, there is one thing I can do, if it is possible, how can I get drivers of Toshiba recovery disks, without having to reinstall everything again?
Something like this is not possible. Recovery image is somehow the package, you can not only pilots.
Have you tried to roll back the OS (System Restore) before you did this updates? -
Satellite Pro A200-PSAE4E - what BIOS I need for the update and how?
Please on A) the correct updated version needs to B) process
(A) the machine came with Vista installed, but it has been ranked towards the bottom to XP works on Win2003/XP network.
The current bios to V5.20 do update to 2.60 - win 32 (vista) or win 5.60
(B) Toshiba FAQ - FAQ ref: TRO0000000b07 shows how to upgrade the bios unfortunately it does not list the satellite Pro A200 - then what is the procedure - thanks in advance.
Hello!
If you want to update the BIOS, you need version 5.60. Are the other version for Vista and 5,60 only one is for XP and if it s the right one for you.
The BIOS update procedure is quite easy. The update is based on Windows, which means that you can update it on Windows. So to extract all files from zip archive and run the exe file. Then updated your BIOS.
But before update you, close all programs running even your AntiVirus and firewall and connect the AC adapter.Good luck!
Good bye

Satellite Pro A200 - 26 minutes of normal time remaining?
Hi all
My laptop Satellite Pro A200 is a little over 1.5 years (or young: P) and I have a huge problem with the battery - it only lasts for a total of _26 minutes_ under "high performace" mode in Vista - other modes the power increase time to 5-7 minutes.
I've tweated the system configuration for:
-too few programs running at startup;
d ' use as little memory in what concerns the graphics (as in the disabled vista themes and operations "fantasies" show window contents while dragging).
-stay on the low light. The programs that run at startup are my anti virus (F-Secure) and ATI catalyst control.
I also cleaned the registry conflicts and scan for viruses regularly.
I used Ubuntu on this laptop as well and the battery life is not that much better, which leads me to the conclusion that the battery comes to an end.
I was wondering if this duration of battery life (26 minutes max on high performace) is normal for a laptop after only 1.5 years? * (I don't remember how long it has lasted when I first bought).
Also, I have a laptop from other manufacturer of 2 years and its battery lasts a minimum of 4 hours (on Windows XP).
The two laptop batteries are 6 cells.Any suggestions on how to improve my battery life?
Thanks in advance.
> Satellite Pro A200 laptop computer is a little over 1.5 years and I have a huge problem with the battery - it only lasts for a total of 26 minutes in "high performace" mode in Vista
Battery working time depends on different factors:
If parts of different hardware such as CPU, GPU, HDD, ODD, display perform better performance then dramatically decreases your battery work time
In addition, if you lose a stronger battery (9 or 12 cells cell) then you should be abele run Notepad a lot more time using the battery power.
In addition, the battery loses the own performance systematically and after a long period of use, you will need to replace the battery. However, if you wish, you can check the Vista Power Options to increase the working time of battery:
Here's a nice article:How to manage Windows Vista power management features
http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD84026Q0000R01.htmBut in the worst case you will need a new, stronger battery

Hello
Do you use the preinstalled Toshiba image?
I ask because sometimes the BSOD can be caused by serious software problem. But to be honest, it looks like a hardware malfunction.
In my view, the RAM modules could be affectedI have a 6 year old using my laptop BSOD the BSOD appeared after several hours of use one I thought that it s a faulty RAM I replaced it, but the issue was not resolved finally I discovered that the temperature affected modules of RAM alone and the laptop froze and BSOD appeared
Finally, I checked the grids of cooling and cleaned using compressed air jet that it helpedBut buddy note; This does not mean that your problem can be caused by high temperature. It s only a hypothesis, and in my opinion, a technician of the laptop should check the laptop to ensure that's exactly wrong.
Good luck

Operating system to load BIOS for Satellite Pro A200
Hello
I have a PSAE4E - 03300WEN Satellite Pro A200 with V5.30 BIOS and Windows 7 SP1 32 bit.
I improved the T2330 CPU to T8100 and thought to update the BIOS for increased functionality.
But in the Toshiba download page, I get the following 3 options:2.60 - WIN32 this Bios is only compatible for portable computers with Windows Vista! (32-bit only!)
2.60 - WIN64 this Bios is only compatible for portable computers with Windows Vista! (64-bit only!)
5, 60 - WIN this Bios is NOT compatible for notebook computers equipped with Windows Vista! And the question is...
What about Windows 7? I should stick to V5.30 or go to a newer version? :-/See you soon!
> I improved the T2330 CPU to T8100 and thought to update the BIOS for increased functionality.
First of all laptop manufacturers (any manufacturer it is) don t support CPU updates.
Of course, you can replace the CPU but it's your own risk. But what I mean is that updates of BIOS don't provide additional functionality or improves which would increase the functionality after upgrade CPU and this means that the BIOS update is not necessary to obtain better performance even after upgrade CPU.
However, certain phrases on your BIOS question:
5.60 BIOS seems to be released for portable computers running Win XP:Other versions of BIOS (v2.60 32-bit and 64-bit) are released for Vista systems I guess that this version should be compatible with Win 7 since its more similar to Vista to Win XP
However, you changed the processor and consequently the hardware configuration is different now, I can't say for sure if the BIOS update would be the best option in this case

Matte screen disappeared on Satellite Pro A200
I have a Satellite Pro A200 which works fine on an external monitor, but is very dull on the laptop monitor.
Anyone knows if it's backlit and if the lights are replaceable, or do I need a new screen?FN + F5/F6 does nothing. Correct brightness with the software works on the external monitor, but not on the laptop.
Thank you
RickC
> Is - anyone knows if it's backlit and if the lights are replaceable, or do I need a new screen?
It could be a FL. inverter problem In the worst cases the problem internal display, but at this point, I suppose that it s inverter malfunction only an FL.
Recommend trying to replace the FL inverter first, since this part is much less expensive than a screen.

Satellite Pro A200 - black screen with a blinking cursor
Hello
I'm new to the forum and have a big problem.
So, any help is welcome and appreciated. My Satellite Pro A200 turns black after the BIOS screen and a black screen with a blinking cursor.
Also just as the screen goes black a beep can be heard which shows windows boot.I can access the toshiba Setup screen but not the installation of security mode.
Kind regards
Hello
Please go into the BIOS settings and check if the HARD drive is listed there.
The blinking cursor is a typical sign of a malfunction of the HARD drive.
Eventually the HARD drive is dead and you need to replace it and reinstall the operating system.Good luck

Hello
You wrote that you can access the BIOS, but have you checked if the HARD drive is recognized properly? Perhaps because the computer cannot start HDD isn't recognized then you should check this.
If the HARD drive is recognized, I would try a Toshiba Recovery disk recovery facility. It seems that Windows isn't able to start and if you reinstall the whole system should help get rid me of this. Go to the start menu and select the CD/DVD drive as a boot device.
Check this box!
