  I think you have already answered that question yourself...

  As you wrote that you can get all the drivers on the Toshiba site and if it isn t a newer driver available you can nothing more I think. Satellite A300 isn t a laptop of game performance so I think that the display drivers are not so important.

  The only way to obtain a more recent version, it's looking on external Web sites. Maybe you can get the desktop pilot working had some changes I put t know but really attention! Other drivers don't have protection against overheating and you could destroy the graphics chip. Be very careful of what you do.

  Alternatively, you can search on the Toshiba site for other models of laptops with ATI card too. Maybe, you can get a newer version

  I would really appreciate the help as I'm going round in circles. I have a Satellite Pro A300 - 1 2, and I want to replace the HARD drive and install Windows 7, what is the best HARD drive I can get to the laptop?

  Also, what is the maxium of RAM I can install in your laptop.

  Any advice would be great machines running lately and I think that the HARD drive has a bad sector in it.

  I decided to update my old Toshiba Satellite Pro A300 PSAG9E-00700TTE Vista to Windows 8.

  Satellite Pro A300 is not that win 8 supported means that you will not find to win 8 drivers for this series, but of course, you can use Win 8 on this unit.

  In some cases, the municipality of Win 7 drivers would be compatible.

  Toshiba tools like VAP (value added package) to win 8 can also be used, but we must look for a Win 8 VAP released for other more recent models.

  I m surprised that your ROM module is damaged or something. In most cases, this occurs if the computer hangs during the update.

  Let me give you some advice. You should only update the BIOS if it of needed or if you have questions-problems with the laptop. You can ignore the messages of TEMPRO if your system is working properly. For example I have never updated the BIOS if my phone goes perfect never touch a running system ;)

  If not, follow the advice posted by Akuma before update you the BIOS to close all running programs, disable the AntiVirus and firewall and connect the AC adapter.
  On my Satellite U400, I've updated the BIOS without problems.

  Then my ordered device an A300-1nt and a Dell e4300 for two members of our staff who arrived yesterday. Our IT Department managed the purchase and he restored to XP for us and all of our institutional and all software on board.

  The a300 is really, really slow - made a few Win updates this morning and restarted; Let it install and then I rebooted again. From the moment I clicked on the restart at the same time the login screen popped up was 1'57 "and then an additional 2'53" to get to a stable and responsive bureau. " It took 54 seconds after logging in to play the login/startup sound XP. I have a Celeron 5 year, office of 2.4 GHz with only 1 GB of ram which is faster to boot, and who only had a cache of 256 KB L2 as opposed to the 3 MB of cache L2 the p8400 in the A300, and 4 GB of ram in the A300.

  I have now disabled the autostart webcam as well as start-up automatic online product information and shaved only about 6 seconds, start on another reboot time.

  Dell, on the other hand, is like a rocket. It's a different chip (sp9400), different chipset, DDR3 ram, but only 2 GB of ram and fsb on these two tracks is 1066 so I would have thought they would be comparable, but clearly not.

  I wonder at this point so maybe our IT guy made a hash of the downgrade XP at some point or if the computer may be damaged somewhere or if the a300 is generally a slow machine - anyone have any ideas?

  I have the Satellite A300-1LI pre-installed with Windows XP Home Service Pack 3 (original recovery image Toshiba) and I'm happy with it. The performance is good.

  Theoretically, it of possible to exchange the processor on your laptop, but nobody will be able to tell if the laptop works fine with the new processor or not.

  You mustn't forget that the BIOS and motherboard is designed for the preinstalled CPU and it s not tested with another processor. Normally a newer or faster CPU produces more heat and I don t know if the Assembly of cooling on your laptop is sufficient for this.

  in the recent this t Magazin (Germany), there was a very good article on the replacement of the card with a (draft) 11n wlan more recent 300Mbit card.   The mag says, some manufactured goods prohibiting this and you have an error in the bios if you are replacing the card, some don't and even provide assistance and instructions.

  A look at the underside of the laptop. It has a label and you should see the wireless network card is built in.
  If the card has A/G or B/G standard, then the laptop does not support the N standard, because for the new N standard, you need 3 antenna cables and the old standard has only 2 antennas.
