Satellite Pro A300 - freezes in normal mode
Before proceeding, I would like to say that I am not an expert in computers. All of these technological terms is not really make sense to me.
-----------------------------------------
Hello.
I am currently typing this on Mode safe as if I start Windows normally, the laptop would just freeze and will not respond. It would take 5 minutes at startup, so if you try to access a program it would just stop respond and it freezes just after a while.
It is a bad time to lose the laptop my sister is doing a course in order to obtain a qualification in childcare. The laptop is virtually indispensable.
Thank you
Shivam.
Hello!
It s really strange to say, what's the reason for this.
I think it must be a driver or a software problem, why Windows works in safe mode, because safe mode driver will not be loaded.
, You update an application driver or software? Maybe you have a virus on the computer
I think that the easiest way is you backup all important files to for example external HARD disk and start to reinstall Windows using the Toshiba recovery disc.
If you have Windows Vista preinstalled, you can use HARD drive recovery. Go to the advanced boot menu (F8), choose repair my computer and select the recovery Toshiba feature. Follow the instructions on the screen.
If you n t have Vista you can also use the Toshiba recovery disc.
Good bye

Satellite Pro A300 freezes when on the internet
Satellite Pro A300 freezes when on the internet & the only way to turn it off is to take out the battery. Bought new Dec 2010 & is under warranty - suggestions?
Hello
have you tried to update drivers Lan (wlan)? What browser do you use? I guess, the Internet explorer, try firefox or opera. Also, your computer may be infected with the virus, or blocked by the firewall. Have you installed software before it starts? Is this ok when you bought it? I ask you too, because you do not have a lot of information.
It is especially the driver, software problem. -
Satellite Pro A300-28R: slow start and freeze on Internet Explorer
I recently bought a Satellite Pro A300-28R and I'm very disappointed with the performance.
(1) from the card, it looks like a decent laptop, but with the start time of 3 minutes, 'Please wait' it's probably not impress me considering the fact that I have nothing installed yet...(2) I will try to uninstall applications like tempro, but still I am intrigued by the slow response on the internet pages.
For example when I go on google and start typing something more time, the cursor freezes and I have to wait a few seconds before I'm able to see what I'm typing.
I only bought it last Friday, and I have not used a lot, but probably a bit disappointing so far.
Any ideas why the cursor freezes on google or on the toolbar internet explorer?FYI, I use Vista Business OS and Internet explore
any help welcome
> 1) card, it looks like a decent laptop, but with the start time of 3 minutes, 'please wait' is surely not impress me considering the fact that I have nothing installed yet...
I'll tell you how to reduce the startup time of your laptop.
I think you are using Vista and the Tempro should be installed too
You have two options: either you would update the Tempro or remove the system. Both should help make the Mobile QuickStart.(> 2) I'll try to uninstall applications like tempro, but still I am intrigued by the slow response on the internet pages.
For example when I go on google and start typing something more time, the cursor freezes and I have to wait a few seconds before I'm able to see what I'm typing.
You should update right Vista in the current state, and should also check if certain unnecessary processes running in the background.
You can do this by using the msconfig. In addition, you should check if your antivirus software does not slow down the system.
Just a tip; I m using the free software Antivir. It of free and it s really nice, it doesn't have a lot of material resources.

Hello
As far as I know that these issues are resolved with BIOS update. Can you please tell us which model of laptop you have exactly and what BIOS version is preinstalled on your laptop?
I think 2.70 is the latest version of the BIOS.

Satellite Pro A300: Problem with Microsoft Security Essentials
Hello
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300 with XP SP3 and now deleted AVG Free and installed Microsoft Security Essentialls (MSE).
The result is after installing MSE and begin my laptop cursor is stuck in the center of the screen and will not respond to the inputs of the mouse or the keyboard.
In aid of F12 to get my startup options allowed me to try the Safe Mode and last known good Configuration etc but they all show the same functionality, IE freeze when the desktop appears. XP seems to be operating in the background, for example system clock stays on time, "notice" system if its wifi singal is removed etc.
Just to make the day to try to do an OS reinstall pressing 0 to on has no effect - system just boots in XP - so I can't my recovery partition!
I have now is not a HW problem as the /kbd cursor works if I boot into a non-windows system, for example UBUNTU CD
Any suggestions welcome - such as can I download a recovery on antother PC CD and burn a recovery CD?
Hello
I have no idea what happened after installing Microsoft Security Essentials, but it seems that you are not able to access the files on the HARD drive
I think you need to reinstall the operating system using HARD drive recovery.
http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=58But this would format the system partition :(
In order to save the files from the HARD drive, I recommend using / boot from a bootable floppy from Win PE.
Win PE (also called BartPE) is a thin window OS that is bootable CD and don t need to be installed on the HARD drive.

Why Satellite Pro A300 does not start when you press the power button?
Suddenly my new Satellite Pro A300 does not start correctly when you press the power button. The situation is the following: when I press the power button is displayed the opening of Toshiba (Leading Innovation) and the disappers image quickly. Then there is a black screen for about 30 seconds. There is a rectangular frame with the text Microsoft Corporation under. And nothing happens however long wait.
In order to get with the trial starting I then shut down the computer by pressing the power button until the computer turns off. ("The hard way to close")
Now, I press the power button shortly to turn on the computer. Then, the computer starts normally with the photo to open Toshiba and after a few seconds, I wonder to open the computer in safe mode or in normal mode. I now choose to open in normal mode and the computer opens normally and is ready to work. What should I do to get a normal departure procedure?
When the laptop starts normally (after choosing normal mode) stop your laptop properly using START > shut down option. Next launch should be normal.
When the OS is moving towards the low irregularly will always ask you how to start this new (secure or normal mode).
The same thing happen on my Satellite A300. -
Satellite Pro A300 - cursor is random if the power is connected
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300 running Vista Business and my synaptic touchpad cursor started becoming erratic and cannot be controlled normally.
It is hard to move and it will open programs and the internet, etc. This happens every time power outlet is plugged but normally works on battery. I ran Malwarebytes and AVG 8 scans, but they come without any problem. I restarted mode safe (after a forced closed down) and the problem has always existed.
Can someone throw some advice on this problem?
Strange. I never heard a question also and now I can t say what is the reason for this, but I hope that I can help you identify the reason.
It would be interesting to know if you have the same problem with an external mouse. You can check this please?
You use the original from Toshiba AC adapter or another?Perhaps the problem can be solved if you update the BIOS. You can find it on the Toshiba site:

Satellite Pro A300 can not find USB devices
Hello forum,.
We have a customer who bought a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300 with us, but he gets a strange mistake about it.
It connects to a hub 5port Sandberg USB 2.0 to one of the usb ports, the pc detects the hub, but when it connects a /Memory stick to the hub, nothing happens.
the hub and the memory stick works on other PCs.I hope someone can help.
Best regards
John Bork
DANBIT A/SHello
What happens if you connect the memory stick directly without this USB hub?
I also had a USB hub, but these hubs are a little complicated and delicate USB specification allows a certain power and according to the devices that connect, you need to use an active USB hub, that means with external power supply. But normally, Satellite Pro A300 should have enough USB ports if it of needed, I would recommend a USB hub with 2 or 3 maximum ports

Hello
The problem is that your laptop supports the SATA HDD controller but the system OS does not contain the SATA drivers
You can assign in the compatible SATA mode BIOS.
This allows you to install the operating system without installation of the SATA drivers.Welcome them

Satellite Pro A300-28V - my bluescreens disappeared when the BIOS has been upgraded
I'm curious to know about it. The machine is a Satellite Pro A300-28V with Vista32/Win7.
Had problems with bluescreen dumps referring to 'iaStor.sys '. I was about to send the laptop in for repair when I made this last effort to resolve the problem. Upgrade 1.9 to 2 BIOS, 1 - Win.All of a sudden my system image succeeded! Even at an Iomega home network HDD. Without complex!
No blue screen exports even at startup 'cold' (after a free night)! For now, I leave the computer in sleep mode while I am at work. Let's see if he managed a day without landfills.
What is the technical difference between 1.9 and 2.1 BIOS? No idea if it's something with iaStor.sys to do?

Hi mate
This is really good news as your BSOD displeasured after the BIOS update.
The BIOS give instructions to the test power - on self test (POST) and provide basic information on how to manage components of the laptop, as HDD, ODD memory, that are required to load the operating system.Who knows, what was changed in the update but the main thing is that all the work and the update solve your BSOD
> No idea if she has something with iaStor.sys to do?
iaStor.sys is part of the SATA driver who is required to recognize the HARD drive using AHCI mode. -
Satellite Pro A300 - overheating
Hello
It's been a year and a half I got my Satellite Pro A300. A week ago, it started overheating very badly. Low CPU usage, it maintains its normal temperature of 55 - 60 c (given the weather was hot).
However, if I try to do something heavy CPU, lets the temperature of 100 ° C in a few minutes and the laptop stops. The fan works, except that it does not seem to generate as usual, as a powerful airflow which made me think it was clogged. I disassembled the laptop, but I couldn't get to the cooling unit because of three cables from the motherboard to the plastic shell, who of the White T, shaped connectors for the life of me I couldn't get out, even a little bit. I cleaned up what I could with compressed air and a little dust was allowed, however, the fan/radiator wasn't blocked at all. After put back together there no significant difference.
I am sure that it is a new phenomenon that I did turn the machine much warmer weather in the worst conditions with loads CPU near 100% without any problems. I checked all the settings, just in case something has mitigated the fan, but the public electricity of standby service is set to "Maximum Performance".I appreciate the ideas and help, even a few tips on how to disconnect the cables from the motherboard.
Thanks in advance.I imagine that there is a lot of dust inside and maybe is time for professional cleaning. You can contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help. The guy he takes apart the whole notebook and remove all dust placed between the vents.
In any case, try to use your laptop with power management balanced which will reduce the performance of the processor, but your laptop will have enough power for normal operations.
In General, I think that your laptop must be properly cleaned.

Satellite Pro A300-28R - how to enable virtualization in the BIOS?
I tried to enable the setting of virtualization in the BIOS and the setting is disabled and I was unable to change the setting to activate. I have flashed the BIOS to the new version, and now how to enable virtualization has completely disappeared.
The laptop model is Satellite Pro A300-28R with Windows 7 Professional and BIOS version 2.10.How do I enable virtualization setting so I can run Windows Virtual PC mode to run compatible programs XP?
Hello
Did you check the specifications of your laptop first?
The fact is that the processor must support this virtualization and according to the Web of Toshiba site, your laptop is equipped with processor Core 2 Duo T5870.
I checked this on the page of Intel CPU and virtualization isn't supported. That means t, you can use this feature! Here you can see this:

Need help with the installation of Windows XP Home on my Satellite Pro A300-1DZ
Hi all.
I have a Satellite Pro A300-1DZ system unit, model no PSAG1E-OOFOO4EN (think they are 'o' and not '0', circle with slash through it) with WXP Pro.
I recently contracted a virus inside and as he removed, however it is not good so I want to re - install Windows XP Home edition. I backed up the computer, I have a Windows XP Home SP2 Pro edition disk and I have my product key.
I put the CD/DVD in BIOS to run 1 drive and tells me that I can boot from the CD, I press a button and it loads the CD, select the option where to install windows.BUT! I can t go further than what windows does not detect the HD said he s not now, or whatever.
My question is this: Please can someone me step by step instructions on how to reinstall XP and a link to all the drivers I need to make it work?
PLEEASE!
It's simple on my PC, also, please keep in mind, I am best suited for working on cars, I'm not stupid, but my calloused hands search for computers a little more difficult than Motors please not in many computer technical terms.
I myself am the slow education in the dark arts of computers. LOL :)PS. the laptop has a Vista Basic sticker on it, but it is certainly the XP pro operating system. :)
Hi jeff
Here's your solution:
1. go to bios with F2 when you see the toshiba start screen.
2. Select the arrow to the left using the "Advanced".
3 press down until you get to "SATA Controller Mode".
4 change, using F7/F8, Chang [AHCI] setting [compatibility].
5. make sure the CD/DVD drive is the first to start and F10 save and exit. computer restart when you are prompted to "press any key" press a button and hey presto as before windows will start the installation, but this time you won't get windows you said:Set up did not find Ant hard disks installed on your computer.
Make sure any drive HARD are powered on and properly connected to your computer and any hard disk related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or Setup program.
implementation cannot continue press f3 to goto hell... uh I mean leaving the installation
And you can continue on your installation of Windows XP Home edition.
Hope I helped many other jeff's in the same boat. XD
