Satellite Pro A300 PSAJ1E: Touchpad not recognized using Win XP SP2

Hi all

I just got a Satellite Pro A300 PSAJ1E, which is preloaded with Vista. It is also comes with a 'product' XP SP2 recovery CD I had to use because of some software work with Vista compatibility issues.

Unfortunately, everything works well except the Touchpad, which is not recognized by XP at all (without entries, error or not, in the Device Manager).
The "Recovery" of XP CD installed the drivers of the Alps and the Toshiba Touchpad utility (for turning on and outside), so it seems that it is supposed to work.

It is activated in the BIOS (which I have also flashed to the latest version, just in case) and is enabled in the software. I also rebuilt the laptop using the "Recovery" CD (the touchpad is not also recognized by starting on the CD "Recovery" which I guess uses WinPE).

It does not work on Vista, so it shouldn't be a hardware problem.

Someone at - it ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Andy

Hey Buddy

Well in your case I would recommend going to the Device Manager and remove the touchpad in the list of devices.

Then visit the European driver Toshiba page, choose your model of laptop, Win XP OS and download the driver for the Alps Electric and Synaptics touchpad.

Install both drivers, reboot the laptop and check if your touchpad will work correctly.

Good luck

  • Satellite Pro A300 / PSAJ1E - 01000XEN won't turn on

    I have a new laptop, Toshiba Satellite Pro A300 / PSAJ1E - 01000XEN.

After I opened the box and put it on my desk, I connect to the AC adapter and after that I tried to turn on the laptop but there is no response.

But please don t ask me what exactly wrong s or what part malfunctions.
Without any control it s simply not possible to provide the final diagnosis.

As you say, the machine is new.
Why you n t contact your dealer and ask for replacement?
Maybe you could get a new one?

However, you can contact the ASP in your country for a detailed notebook check.

When you get the message if another program uses always the camera.

So, try to disable the webcam software and other e-mail programs in msconfig.
Restart the laptop and if you want to use the webcam software you need to start the first webcam software.

    Hello

In your case, I would try to install the latest driver for the webcam of Toshiba. Install this driver and try again. Also, make sure that this latest version of the BIOS is installed for your laptop.

In addition, it would be interesting to know if the same problem happens on Vista. You should try it with the factory settings. So that you can identify if it s a hardware or software problem.

    Hello

You have software of Regen with your HARD drive? I don't know if this can help, but check the Toshiba download page and you'll find a version for Windows XP Home edition. Maybe this will help.

  • Upgrade of RAM in my Satellite Pro A100 (PSAA3E) was not recognized.

    I have a Pro A100 (PSAA3E) with only 512 MB of RAM.

I added another identical stick but only 1 has been recognized.
Each stick is recognised individually in each slot, but never as a 1 GB together. Thus, the two sticks are ok and two slots are okay!

How can I remedy so that both are recognized?

Did you use one that is recommended by Toshiba?
Seems the two modules aren't compatible together hmmm seems very strange.

How you did upgrade the memory?
You must disconnect all cables and remove the battery. Then install the memory modules and enter the BIOS. There, you should check if the memory has been increased and set the default BIOS. Don t forget to safe settings!

    Good luck

My cd/dvd drive is no longer recognized in my computer. It seems to be working, opens and closes and seeing little flashes when I put in a disc. but the disc does not load and the hard drive is not available in 'computer '.

Ive tried the Device Manager. He comes in there, and ive done the scan for hardware changes and its still not to come. Ive also tried the microsoft help forum, and their suggestion didn't help either.

    Any ideas?

    > Ive tried Device Manager. He comes in there, and ive done the scan for hardware changes and its still not to come.
Have you checked if the drive is listed in the BIOS?
    Check this please.

I thought is might be only a registry key problem, but if the drive is not listed in Device Manager, if the BIOS does not recognize the CD/DVD drive, then a hardware malfunction could be possible

How devices connect and what devices are connected to the USB ports?
    However, try this:

    Unplug ALL USB device.
    Open the Device Manager.
    View, show hidden devices.
Uninstall all devices under USB controllers.
Uninstall all devices in storage Volumes. Say no to all reboot prompts until you are finished. In addition, if a storage Volume doesn't uninstall, ignore her and move on to the next.
If you have a yellow? with unknown devices, uninstall all of the entries there as well.

    When finished, reboot TWICE.
Reconnect the USB devices and see if they are properly recognized.

  • Satellite Pro L10: AC/battery not recognized

    Hello

Currently, when I have my laptop connected to the AC supply cable, the battery symbol in the taskbar at the bottom right of the screen flashes, switching between the battery icon and the network icon. While this is happening if I type some of my keys are not saved and the mouse gets 'juddery '. If I pull the cable tight against where it connects to the laptop, it remains plugged into mains. This happens sporadically and sometimes (rarely) is ok.

Does anyone have any idea why this might happen? I had the laptop for about 2 1/2 years, so, naturally, that the battery died a little. Not sure it's the battery or cable it charges normally when the laptop is over/under voltage off before.

    Thanks for any info!

    > Anyone has any idea why this might happen?
Maybe it s a contact drop between the power adapter and the power outlet

But it's really not easy to tell without touching the laptop.
I think the laptop technicians could check it and would be able to bring an answer what's exactly wrong.

But in my opinion it s a soft seal.

    Best regards

  • Satellite P30-133 CD/DVD not recognized in Win XP

A few months ago that the CD/DVD drive disappeared from windows XP home SP2
It is visible in the list of the BIOS boot, but I'm not sure if it turns elsewhere in the bios.

The BIOS also seems to be ad slowly started upward. I have reset the BIOS to default settings and the player was available for long enough to reinstall windows. Resttting the deafault BIOS does not work every time. Everything is now on the machine is a new installation of windows and the drive is not visible. Light on the DVD/CD drive flashes on startup every time, but it will not read a bootable disc.

The disc was found in another machine and works fine. What is a BIOS problem or a motherboard problem.
I am reluctant to spend huge sums of money on this laptop, as he already had a new motherboard a couple of years.

    Any help or advice appreciated.
This isn't a problem that will be solved by the registry hack 'filter '.

Have you tried a BIOS update?

You reinstall Windows using the recovery disk? Or have you installed Street copy of XP?

Try to boot from a Bootable CD, if it does not, then the motherboard may be faulty, or the drive has intermittent problems.

  • Satellite Pro A300 sleep and extended functions does not properly

    I have a new satellite Pro A300 PSAJ1E - 01E00VIT, and I find this problem:

Sometimes (not always: maybe it depends on which program is running) in trying to put the computer to sleep or into hibernation, it does not stop, but only stop the monitor (Panel), while the fan goes on and the power light is green. Of course, a lot of energy consumption of battery!

Then there is no other way to take off the computer by pressing the power button for a long time... but this is not correct!
NB: my computer is always connected to a local network, and generally there are some browser windows open when I put it in stand-by mode.

    How can I fix?
    jomurray

You must update the BIOS and must always close the programs and applications that ruin on the laptop before activating the standby mode or hibernation would be.

I found this solution in this forum, and according to some people here it has solved similar problems

  • Satellite Pro A300 PSAGDA-02000R CPU and graphics chipset mismatch

can someone help me with the specifications of this laptop.

When I look at the official brochure of toshiba for this product, he mentions that the Chipset of the CPU

"Mobile Intel 965 PM Express Chipset.

but the second video card says

    "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator GM45.

Which is true, because what I read on the site of intel GMA X 3100 is used on the mobile 965 PM Express Chipset.

Any help will be much appreciated.

To be honest, this unit is not known to me, but I know that some other Satellite Pro A300 supports other chipsets.
    For example:

SATELLITE PRO A300 PSAJ1E-005008BT supports the Intel GM965 chipset and graphics chip Intel GM965
SATELLITE PRO A300 PSAJ5E - 001001GR is supported by the chipset Intel PM965 and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470
SATELLITE PRO A300-1E7 PSAGDE-003003EN supports the Intel PM45 Express and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470 Mobile Chipset

SATELLITE PRO A300-21 b PSAGDE-01S007A3 supports the Chipset Mobile Intel GM45 Express and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3470.

As you can see there are many different laptops with hardware components completely different models
I googled too, and it seems that the PSAGDA Satellite Pro A300-02000R supports the PM of Mobile Intel 965 Express chipset and graphics ATI Mobility Radion, HD 3650 with 512 MB + Intel Graphics Media Accelerator GM45.
