Satellite pro A60 com port are not not in modem device manager
Have a new A 60 pro and cannot connect to the internet via the modem.
The offer of 'solutions' by help needed to make sure com port 1 was turned on, but only a lpt port has been listed.
XP pro says that the modem works well.
How to get com port 1?
David
Hey there,
IM afraid that you do not have a hw to port com on the device. Com ports you have on the laptop are "virtual ports. If you're expriencing diffuculties internet connection, could you please go to Device Manager (by going to the system control panel and choose the Hardware tab) and then access the properties of the Toshiba software modem, go to the diagnostics tab and click the query modem button and display the result.
See you soon,.
PS you'll only com port listed in Manager of devices if and only if you have a serial port on the computer.

Satellite Pro M70 - USB port does not recognize the device
My Satellite Pro M70 has three USB slots, one on the left and two (vertically one above the other) at the back of the laptop.
The top slot to USB in the back started giving problems. Sometimes, my computer can't see all that I plugged in there. But if I unplug anything - usually the printer or the mouse - the computer will usually see it then.
What is the problem? Can do nothing about it?
My operating system is XP. and my laptop is 4.33 year.
Thank you.

Have you already updated the chipset drivers?

Satellite Pro A60 and Port Replicator
I JUST BOUGHT A SATELLITE PRO A60 AND USB2 PORT REPLICATOR. WHEN I ATTACH MY LASERJET 1100 AND PRINT A TEST PAGE IT PRINTS WELL BUT IF I PRINT A WORD DOCUMENT IT RELEASED FOR EXAMPLE GOGGLEDYGOOK. CAN YOU HELP ME?
Hello
I understand your problem in this way.
You have connected the printer via Port Replicator ports for the A60 SatPro.
Œuvres driver and so on correctly because the test page can be printed. But when you want to print from Word the printer isn't or what do you mean by "GOGGLEDYGOOK".
Could you describe a little more detailly and give us some more information like Toshiba shipped OS or MS based installation, Service Pack installed, the name of the printer and so on...
When you want to validate this information, it would be easier to help you!

I have a strange error on my USB ports on Satttelite Pro 6100 with XP SP2.

The restart afret optical mouse connected to the USB port does not illuminate and the XP system displays the error message on the device not recognized on USB port.Plug the mouse on or off doesn't change anything. Only restart helps.
Any ideas?
It's very strange, but it will be interesting to see if the same problem persists with other USB devices. Can you test and post again on the results?

Satellite Pro L10 - USB port will not recognize devices
Hello
I got a L10 for 18 months. Under the guarantee, I got a replacement motherboard mounted. Everything has been ok so far. A USB port will not recognize devices, a port is ok, but randomly turns off a device attached to it and comes up with the message "USB device not recognized". The third port is ok all the time.
Any solutions or suggestions?

I guess there is not enough power on the USB ports and external devices may not work correctly. It is not easy to say why this happens, but there may be a problem of welding.
I recommend you contact the service again as soon as possible.

com ports are not not in Device Manager
Windows Vista Ultamate
I need to find what my gps device usb com port is turned on and set manually baud rate etc.
Went to control panel option "Hardware and sound" not shown.
Find Device Manager via "system" in the control panel but "ports" were not.Apart from evolution into another version of windows, what should I do
You can add Ports manually via the control panel "Add Hardware". In the Add Wizard of material, choose the option "Install the hardware that I manually select from the list (user)" then click on the button "next". Under "Common hardware Types" scroll down and clilck on Ports (COM & LPT) click the button "Next" and complete the wizard.

My usb port does not work. Device Manager says he has a "code 10".
My dad recently bought a laptop on ebay. It's a HP Omnibook 900 with a 4 GB HD. The previous owner had improved from the original from Windows 98 to XP with SP3.
It has a USB port in the back & it does not work!
In fact it is not even appear in the Device Manager! I need to select 'Show hidden devices' to see same the USB hub root. The USB port has a yellow warning icon. In properties, it indicates the port is enabled but does not work because of a "Code 10".
What the devil is a "code 10" & how in the heck to solve this problem, so that the USB works?
The port is powered. When I connect devices usb load they turn on & load, but, of course, are not displayed on the computer. My best theory is that the port can be usb 1.0 but the software is intended for usb 2.0 and what could be the cause of the problem. That's just guessing on my part because I do not know with certainty if the usb is 1.0 or 2.0.
It is especialy boring being the only external devices can I plug a CD player (unwritten) & a floppy drive. It would make my life much more pleasant if I could run software, backup & file transfer, etc. with a usb drive instead! It could even than the laptop quite useful to be worth the bucks thirties, my father paid for it!
Help, please. Thank you.
Hi SnarFoo,
Method1
The Code 10 error code is generated when Device Manager it has not enough information or error that has spread upward through the device drivers is not recognised by the Device Manager. In addition, this error may occur if one of the pilots who needs the unit does not start. If multiple drivers are used by a particular device, it can be difficult to determine which failed.
See the article and check if that helps.
Description of errors related to the 10 Code that generates the Device Manager in Windows on computers
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/943104
Method 2
If the previous step fails, then remove and reinstall all USB controllers on the computer and check if that helps.
To remove and reinstall all USB controllers, follow these steps:
(a) click Start, click run, type sysdm.cpl in the Open box, and then click OK.
(b) click on the hardware tab.
(c) click the Device Manager button.
(d) expand Bus USB controllers.
(e) right click on each device under the Bus USB controllers node and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
(f) restart the computer and reinstall the USB controllers.
(g) connect the removable USB storage device and perform a test to ensure that the problem is solved.

Satellite A500 - 17 X - Webcam does not appear in Device Manager
Hello
I'm looking for more assistance with a recently purchased A500 - 17 X running on Windows 7 64 bit. The Webcam worked when buying, but has suddenly stopped working. Web camera software is up-to-date with the latest download from the Toshiba site, but returns the message at the launch:
"Web Camera initialization failed" Please, you check the camera device & restart the application or computer.
I checked the Device Manager under Imaging for webcam devices & is not listed (it's my own laptop; I also have a Toshiba laptop provided by employer & when the webcam is listed on that one, so I presume that it must appear in the same place!
Does anyone have any suggestions? Would it be a bad connection to the webcam itself, i.e. a warranty issue, or is there a software solution to check if the webcam is actually present? I scan for new hardware & nothing new is detected.
Thanks in anticipation!
Jon
In my opinion, you should try to reinstall the driver for the webcam. Remove preinstalled software, restart your computer and reinstall the latest version available.
Best test you can do is to reinstall the recovery image. with factory cam settings should work fine again.

Re: Tecra M11 - 15W - Parallel Port LPT1, not found in Device Manager
Hello
I have Tecra M11 with PA3680E-1PRP Docking Station. BIOS Version 2.9.
Problem is, I want to use the Parallel Port LPT 1, but in anchorage additive dosent device manager there.
Thanks much for the tips
Hey Buddy,
What device is connected to the LPT1 port? Usually if you connect a device to LPT port and you turn on you will be asked for drivers. AFAIK the LPT device drivers must be installed before connect you.
Several years ago I also used LPT connection for my printer but one day it didn't work. The problem was only a defective cable. I replaced it with a new one, and then the connection to the printer has been recognized again correctly! :)

Module of RAM not recognized on my Satellite Pro A60
Hello
I have a Satellite Pro A60 and recently bought a RAM of 512 MB memory upgrade.
I have fitted on the correct port, however, there does not appear to be be achnoledged as being there.
Can someone help me?[Edited by: admin August 31 05 19:02]
Hi Robert,.
I guess your A60 has two RAM ports, then I suggest that Exchange you the two RAM modules autour to check if the port rather than the modules itself that is the source of the problem.
I hope that you took of anti-static precautions before manipulating the new RAM module. They are easily damaged by a discharge of static electricity.
