Satellite Pro A60: How to replace the drive?
Satellite Pro A60 replace DVD player - need repair
Or does anyone know how to remove the drive of this laptop Bay

I think the disk replacement procedure is very similar to replacements on other laptops.
To remove the STRANGE bay module follow these steps:
1. turn the computer.
2. remove the black binding screws.
3 turn the computer over and open the display.
4. push the module bay ODD.
All that s. It s not achieved with a screw.
I recently bought a laptop Satellite Pro A60 series.
I also had an upgrade to 512 MB RAM module for it.
Since then a few games that I try to launch slow area. (it wasn't before) I have increased the Frame Buffer, but wish to increase the AGP Aperture Size as well, but there is no option for this in the BIOS?
Is there a fix that solves it?
Well, you said that the games run a bit slowly after upgrade memory.
In this case, I guess that the graphics card is not really the problem.
As far as I know if memory modules are not similar system could runs unstable.
In addition, after the upgrade, you should try to install this new programs (games).
My DVD/CD drive does not work much more and I want to replace it, but cannot find a way how to remove it from the drive. Anyone able to help me with that? Which screws I need to remove and where? Thank you!
As much as I know the ODD of replacement is not so easy. The drive is secured by a screw and to remove this screw, you need to remove the keyboard and the other parties as well.
In my opinion, this should be done by a technician of laptop because it s a delicate procedure. It is not as easy as on the desktop, so I would contact a professional help
I have a Satellite A60 and my utils / driver disk is not in use.
Is there anywhere I can download or there at - it somewhere that I can buy one?
Especially the "FN" shortcut key will not work. I tried to download the utilities from the page drivers but its defo not to play ball.
Any help on that would be great.
I found a new page of Toshiba.
It s an online store of Media Backup of Toshiba Europe and you should be able to order your CD of restoration on this page.
_Regarding your FN order issue: _
If you are using Win XP on your laptop, you must install the Hotkey utilities for display devices and Hotkey Utility get the FN buttons work.
One thing is very important; If you install your operating system manually, please ensure you install drivers for Toshiba and utility in the right order. On the Toshiba driver page, you can find the installation instruction txt file and you would find the mentioned order insall. Follow this all in the driver installation procedure!
I broke the tip of the power where it goes to the back of the computer. The two pins came away from the cable. What is the size of the plug round I am looking for as a replacement? Assume that there is a standard fitting of Toshiba.
The right size to upgrade as the memory is 128 MB. He got 64 MB it's 2 x 32 MB. I guess we're soldered in, but I can remove the other 32 MB and put the 128.
Are these modules memory square-shaped?
Finally, a link to the service manual would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance.
It's really an old unit and it is not easy to find a lot of information. I found the info that this device can use 160MO max. Module of RAM compatible RAM are:
16 MB PA2039U
PA2040U 32 MB
48 MB PA2041U
128 MB PA2042U
I don t really know where is placed expansion slot memory but check the underside first. Otherwise, that it may also be placed under the keyboard.
Replacement of plug power is a bit complicated, and in this case I can't help you at all.
In any case good luck with your oldie!
Satellite Pro 4200 how to avoid the ACPI errors after installing SP2 for windows XP Prof
The problem is that my computer after installation service Pack 2 need about 15 minutes from time of shoutdown - what should I do to avoid this problem.

You will find this model on the bottom of your laptop. There is a review of it.

I have a Satellite Pro A200 and I replaced the card with an Intel 5100 (512AN_MMW) wireless and it detects OK and installs the drivers etc, but it does not work because he says that the switch is turned off on the front of the laptop. The switch is on I also tried pressing fn + f8, but it still does not work.
The laptop is running Windows 7 64 bit
What card WLAN have you had before and do the work of a former?
I think that it of difficult to say why it doesn t work but maybe this card is not compatible.
By the way: do other FN keys FN + F8 work or simply not?
the device DVD/combined my A100-692 is damaged and I want to replace it.
I found no still no guide how to replace the unit.
Is there something available?
Thanks in advance!
AFAIK, you must remove the keyboard first, before you can replace the CD/DVD drive. Remove the screws on the lower side, and then you can push the disc if you have replaced the keyboard.
It seems to be a bit tricky
Maybe you should ask a technician for laptop to help. They can replace the CD/DVD drive for you.
I need to replace my drive hard because I got a disc error and I could hear noises from him. Someone knows the size of the current hard drive replace (either 3.5 SATA or whatever it is)?
No space memory but actual size, so it can fit inside my computer and someone know a tutorial to replace by yourself?
To replace the HARD drive, you need a 2.5 HARD drive SATA interface. These 3.5 HARD drive you want to say are only for desktop PC s peut t used in laptops to buy a 2.5 so one.
But it makes no difference which manufacturing you buy the HARD drive or the size. Just look for a 2.5 HARD drive SATA interface.
Replace the drive is pretty easy: just remove the two screws on the underside of the cover of the HARD drive. You can exchange it.
I know because I have the same laptop. ;)
Laptop is a Toshiba Satellite Pro A60 with ATI Mobility Radeon 7000 IGP video card, running Windows XP Professional and SP 2.
During the start in most cases systems hang up with blue screen.
I installed the latest drivers from http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=UK (Version dated 220.127.116.1130 Date 09/03/2004) but the problem continues. After second - last third - it reboot now works.
The blue screen says (translated from German):
"Component that probably caused the problem: ati2dvag.dll; the device driver is in an infinite loop; Subsequently the unit does not work, or the device driver is not program the equipment in the right way. STOP 0X000000EA. A dump was created.
Please HELP - THANKS in advance!
I studied a bit on the Toshiba site and found this interesting paper Toshiba on the error message Satellite A60 and blue screen on startup.
This document describes how to upgrade the BIOS. The update of the BIOS should help solve this problem. Take a peek inside.
Please post if you have solved the problem
Hi newbie here.
I have a Satellite Pro A60 and it gives my son for his college stuff.
I want to reinstall XP Pro, but I can't find the CD that came with the laptop we moved house ect.
Is there anywhere where I can buy an of for the laptop, so I can do like new so that he can use it how he wants?
Thank you very much
Yes, you can order this CD with the service provider authorized in your country!
Just contact the guy and order it. It shouldn't t be very expensive.
I recently purchased a DVD - ROM drive to put my optical drive Sat Pro 4290 a CD in DVD - ROM. As suspects, I am the problem if the drive is not recognized and get error IDE #1.
I can get windows XP to recognize the disk by deleting the secondary IDE channel in the material and then look up the new material again. Then installs the IDE channel and then detects and installs the DVD-ROM and works very well. I restart the computer laptop and back to square one!
I understand that it is something to do with the settings of the motherboard and someone has solved this welding pins in different locations on the IDE connectors.
I don't want to risk it and I was wondering if anyone finds an easier way to do it?
Thank you very much
> I understand it's something to do with the settings of the motherboard and someone has solved this welding pins in different locations on the IDE connectors.
Set to true if not 100%. This isn't a matter of adjustment on the motherboard, but the setting of the CD/DVD drive.
The Player supports different master\slave\c-salt settings and if they are not compatible BIOS does not correctly recognize drive.
On external hard drives (for desktop) it s possible to change these settings by changing the jumper, but it is not possible for readers portable slim.
Portable settings are stored in the firmware!
I found various non-legal tools that can change the master/slave/c-salt settings but I wouldn't recommend using it.
The risks are too high so that the reader will have some damage.
So, try to replace the drive with a compatible
Before you have to play with the Satellite Pro L300 laptop recently (on the instructions of the Tech) when I close the lid of the laptop that he went to sleep BUT when I opened the lid eventually, I had to press the power button to restart the laptop.

I get at the end of my home with this computer laptop blinkin :(
Can you help me?
My English is bad I do not end.
The question is:
My computer is a Toshiba Satellite Pro L40 and I use the ConfigFree for the wireless, but it seems that the WiFi network is disabled.
I want to know what's wrong
Your wireless network card is recognized correctly in the Device Manager, or you may notice a yellow exclamation?
Her check first because otherwise, you can get the WLAN to work.
In addition, you can activate WLAN with the material on the laptop switch which must be set on and the FN + F8 key combination.
After this Free Config should find your WLAN router if you are in the range of that.
I need to access the 2 VLANS with the controller LAN Marvell Yukon 88E8072 for my Satellite Pro U400. I installed the necessary Configuration utility network Marvell tell me after installation, VIRTUAL local network settings must be mounted in the Device Manager (Windows 7, right click on computer, properties, click device/network management adapters/double on Marvell Yukon 88E8072 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller), I can't find a thing to configure here but wake-on-LAN.
Any suggestion? Thank you!
I think that in this case, you can use a network switch.

My son has a 487 A100, running on Windows XP. I recently bought him a game and it loads fine. The game played for about 15 minutes and close that back to my desktop screen and gives an option to send an error report. It has 1 GB of RAM so I am a litt
