Satellite Pro C660-1nq - cant access HDD recovery

Hello

Sorry to bother you but I need help if possible.
I'm trying to restore my laptop to factory settings and I am pressing f8.
However, I get all the system recovery options, but no Toshiba hard drive recovery option.

What I am doing wrong?

> What am I doing wrong?

After pressing the F8 key, choose repair my computer and in the new menu you may choose recovery disk as described here:

    Hello

It seems that the laptop would support the Wlan Atheros 802.11agn card.
Usually the Atheros Wlan card must appear in Device Manager as on the menu network cards.
If it s not appear do not then I recommend that you install the WLAN driver which can be downloaded here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/?page=downloads

Choose the Atheros Wireless LAN Adapter Windows 7 (32/64) 9.2.0.419.0 or newer
I hope this helps to detect the WiFi chip!

  • Re: Satellite Pro C660 - how to do the recovery with command prompt disc?

I have a brand new Pro C660 of Satellite. It worked fine for a day, now it will not load windows. I don't have to create the recovery disks, as I only had a few hours (Yes, Yes, I know, should have been the first thing I did). All data are present (but backed up just in case USB) and I can see the folder HDDREcovery with all data intact. However, I can't run the application to create recovery discs. Does anyone know how to extract the images and create the media using only the command line? (I can go into command prompt by booting from the Windows 7 disc a friend). All options fail own laptop startup disks. It says 'Windows does not load' and I try startup repair, but it detects no error. Any help/thoughts on this will be greatly appreciated!

    Hey,.

It of not possible to create the drive with command prompt recovery. You must use the Windows Toshiba Recovery Media Creator.

Now it s too late for you, but you can order a disc here:

  • Satellite Pro L330-1FK - cannot lounch HDD recovery or startup in Windows

I recently got laptop my niece out of it to get it repaired (it is not very computer) she has been surfing the web with (DO NOT LAUGH) NO active firewall or an antivirus running program to protect its system other than Windows Vista Defender.

The machine starts by searching for problems if I run the startup repair program and continually searches for problems of difficulty ever be able to fix whatever it is actually or continue to boot windows just sits there with problems search screen.

I suspect that she got some kind of virus that has completely corrupted the hard drive because I can't launch the disk recovery program HARD or even enter a safe mode or last known start and basically, I need to know where I can order a set of recovery media for his computer laptop can anyone help please?

    ThanX PEA.

    Hello

    > I can not start the disk recovery program HARD or even enter a safe mode or last known start
This means that you must reinstall Windows using the Toshiba recovery disc.

Satellite Pro L330 can't you hear L300? L300-FK seems to be a European model, and that's why you can order a recovery disc here:

  • Satellite Pro C660-1LR - new HARD drive but no recovery disk

I need help for my son who is the Satellite Pro C660 1LR laptop.

In this portable hard drive is completely dead, I have not created a disk of recovery for this system of portable computers.
I bought a new hard drive that is installed... However, as you guessed it I have no access to reinstall an OS, this laptop works on windows 7.

I'm not really tech savvy so if someone can advise me please do explain to the fool proof format! I try to avoid having to buy something expensive.

    > I'm trying to avoid having to buy something expensive.
Problem is that you don't have many options in this regard.
If you want to have the factory again settings you must install recovery disc. You can order on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx of course is not free, but, in my opinion, without a doubt the best solution.

You can buy the Microsoft installation disc and install the clean version. You must purchase a valid license for it.
In this case, you must install all the necessary drivers, tools and utilities for more than one by one.

Just in case you can get this installation of Microsoft and the free license you can save money.

Believe me, the best solution is the original recovery disk command.

Hi, I was looking to get a new HDD on my PSC0MA Satellite Pro C660-01K00V, guys please help me out by telling me the size, the interface, Cache, spin speed and other things that I would need to buy a new. A 750 GB + would do well

    Thank you

    Hello

You will need to buy a SATA HDD.
The Satellite Pro C660 series to buy a SATA 2.5 HARD.
Additional specifications who love speed (RPM) and the size are not confined.
As far as I know that the SATA controller can handle all sizes of disk so, theoretically, you can put a 500 GB and larger.

  • Satellite Pro C660-239 - restore from recovery media error

    Hello!

I have a laptop from a client, it is a Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-239, and I'm having a strange problem.

The original hard drive failed, and as the laptop is out of warranty, we bought a new hard drive and ordered the recovery media to this model, our assistance to repair local toshiba.

After the installation copied the files on the disk, the imageX command fails when you restore the image with error files:

"the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable."

The hard drive is new, and I also tried with more than 2 hard drives, as well as with an external cd-rom drive.

I spoke with the support of assistance local repair, and told me that this happens because the ins new ' t compatible with the recovery media hard drive?

One of the new disks hard I tried, was the exact same model as the original hard disk, and the error persists, so the hard drive may not be the problem.

Y does it have that no change in the recovery media is corrupt?

Could also be a motherboard problem?

    Thank you

    > Is there any change in the recovery media is corrupt?
    Of course, this is possible.
In case the HARD disk is OK, the recovery media may be damaged.

    > Could also be a motherboard problem?
I don t think so. I imagine that the HARD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS and the error message says something about corrupt directory. I guess the disk directory that is the meaning and I think that the media should be replaced.

  • Creating discs of recovery for Satellite Pro C660-2JR

    Hello

is there a way to have the recovery disks installed win7 x 32 instead of x 64 (Satellite Pro C660-2JR)

If your laptop has been delivered with the 64-bit version, you can create the recovery for this preinstalled only version disk. With other words, saved on the recovery partition recovery image is recorded on DVD disc. It's nothing more than that.

If you want to use the 32 bit OS, you must check if your phone model is supported for him and install the clean version.

  • Satellite Pro C660 - what drivers should I download?

    Sorry its naïve but

1 should. what drivers I download?

    > 1. Should what drivers I download?

Download and install any Satellite Pro C660 drivers for your Windows System. In case you are using Win 7 32 bit, download Win7 32-bit drivers

    > 2. How can I when my Toshiba can't connect to the internet.
I guess you are able to access the internet because you have posted here in the forum.
So why you n t download and store all the drivers on a USB key where you could launch the driver installation.

I assume that you are missing the driver SATA.

Please check this forum using the advanced search option. You will find hundreds of discussions where you can read how to install Windows XP Home edition on the newer model laptop.

BTW: create recovery DVDs before you begin to install own OS.

  • Cannot install Win 8 - Satellite Pro C660 does not detect HARD drive

    Hello

My HARD drive died, so I decided to upgrade my Satellite Pro C660 - 1 9 to an SSD.
I made a USB bootable with Win8 and starts very well.

The problem is that it does not detect my SSD, so I can proceed with the installation.
SSD appears in BIOS but not in Windows Installer.
He said that there is a missing driver.

I downloaded the AHCI drivers (XP, only ones available) and even in this case, after you have selected the only rider that appears, it says no new device found.

I tried to change the SATA from AHCI mode to compatibility mode and it's the same thing...

    What can I do?

    Thanks for the help.
    Best regards
    Bruno Moreira

More old Windows XP need a driver AHCI Intel's but I think this isn't a problem with SATA driver missing because as far as I know Windows 8 as well as Win 8.1 already contains the drivers to recognize the SSD or HARD disk drive.
In addition, the installation of the OS should be possible even if the driver would be added for this procedure, you must use the "compatibility" mode
As you say, the compatibility mode is not working too, so I think there is another problem.

However, page driver Toshiba also provides a driver Intel RST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) (Windows 8 - updated) you can try to add during the installation of the OS.

But I m wondering if you would be able to install this Win 8 on common SATA HDD.
Have you tried to format the SSD using a different computer, then install Win 8?
    Give it a try.

  • Satellite Pro C660 bricked by update of the BIOS that failed

My sister asked me to update his laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-16N; The part number PSC0ME-01S00SEN) of Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) of Windows 8 (64-bit).
    So I did.

Then I went UK from Toshiba Web site to check if there are any drivers I had to install for Windows 8. The only one was an update of the BIOS (for BIOS v1.70). I don't know what was the previous BIOS version number.

So I run the update application in Windows 8. Phoenix WinPhlash Technologies starts and then in the middle of the update, everything freezes.

The trackpad would not move the cursor or anything like that. I had no choice but to disconnect the phone from the wall and remove the battery. The laptop is not under warranty.

Of course, now it won't turn. It will beep once when I press the power button, but the system does not light. A few minutes later, it looks like one long beep and two short beeps. It then keeps repeating this sequence every two minutes "one long beep, 2 short beeps".

I google and read the site after the blog after the post on the forum, but nothing works. Links to the software offered on these forums/blogs/Web sites in french are usually dead, so I can't try what they suggest.

The most common solution is the Phoenix crisis recovery tool. I managed to download v1.0.0.4 which is supposed to allow me to make a bootable USB key. The version of this tool that I downloaded is supposed to be for a Lenovo ThinkPad X 200. I have the correct BIOS.rom to C660 Pro Satellite (I renamed BIOS.wph and copied to the appropriate folder).

I followed all the instructions, but it doesn't seem to work. Some sites say if it happens, I have the wrong version of phlash16.exe. Some other sites say that HP Boot Disk USB Utility should be used, but I don't know how to use it.

What I really need, is a definitive step by step foolproof guide to know what to do, with links to the files/tools to use for this model of laptop. I will follow this blindly (which I don't really understand what makes each step, I just do it with no understanding,) so if anyone can help me with this, please write a guide like an idiot!

If anyone can help me with this, I appreciate it. I'm really in a difficult situation - I can't really afford to pay a Toshiba ASP to fix it, and I can't afford a new laptop certainly. But I also couldn't bring myself to tell my sister, ' it's broken, deal!

    Thanks in advance.

  • Satellite Pro C660 - BSOD for WLANs by FN + F8

    Hello!

(Sorry for my bad English, but this is not my first language)

I have a problem with my (Windows 7-64 bit) Satellite pro c660.

When I want to activate or DΘsactiver wifi (fn + F8).
I see the wifi turns on, but after 2 seconds, I got a BSOD...

So I'm looking for drivers for my card (Realtek RTL8188CE) network and it does not work...
I search a lot and I found this forum. I find a lot of problem of "my fn +; '. does not work"and respond you"try to install VAP. I have download this PPV to my computer and right after having extracted the files, I have this message: "Please restart your computer."
I reboot and it still does not work... So I try to uninstall PPVS but I can't found on the Panel.

(I now see the fn + F9 (of / activate the touchpad) does not work.)

I have TOSHIBA Hotkey Utility version 1.62.0.28C.

    Hello

    Your message is very confusing
First of all, I don t think that missing WLan driver would cause a BSOD.

From my point of view you have a lot of problems with the system I m not quite sure if the resettlement of VAP would solve all your problems and I doubt that this would be solce your BSOD problem.

So I advise to use the recovery disk to put the laptop back to factory settings. If the BSOD would still appear after that the laptop was recovered, then I guess as a hardware problem (probably faulty module WLan) causing this BSOD
