Satellite Pro C660 - 21(d): question about the partitions on the HARD disk

Hello

I just started using my new satellite pro c660 - 21 d

My office has drive c, d, u, s
C either windows 7, Vista D
The drive U is 342 meg in size

I didn't have the disk in two 230 gig drive so thoughtless narrowed C drive of 70 GB and D drive with 10 gig (it's the primary recovery partition

I have now two empty partitions of 170 Gig (from c drive)
and 214 Gig (from d drive)
But windows will only allow me to add one as a disc of the user
He says may not have more than 4

The reason for being there is a partition of Active recovery without letter.

I can't unshrink drive C or drive D then I went with 170 GB of unused space.

I guess that a solution would be to lose the data disk 10 gig that contains the recovery software but then I don't have a backup.

Suggestions as to what I could do to work around this problem.

I am now under the Create recovery disks (2 of them) so maybe I could remove one of the partitions after.

I don't know why he answered instead of edition, but if the recovery disc creation complete with no errors, I can remove the hard drive?

  • Satellite Pro L550 - 17U PSLW9E - question of the HARD Win 7 64 bit disk recovery

    Hello

Basically, when I got the laptop it had Windows 7 Home Premium 64 - bit installed.
I created the backup disks, as asked it the first got scratched and gets stuck on the installation, I can install the 32-bit version (the CD it came with) and I tried to create a new 32-bit system recovery disk but it creates just a 32 bit recovery disc (which I already had the appropriate drive).

Just to see if there is a way to restore the 64-bit system without having to buy a new version of windows?

    Satellite Pro L550-17U

    Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit authentic (pre-installed, Toshiba-HDD recovery) and
    Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 32-bit (Toshiba-Recovery DVD)

    Hello

You reinstalled the operating system using the Toshiba Recovery disk which contained the Win 7 32-bit operating system. The recovery of 32 bit Win7 has formatted the whole HARD disk and has deleted all partitions (recovery partition HARD drive containing too many Win 7 64 bit OS)! and replaced with Win 7 32 bit.
This means that Win 7 64 bit is no longer available on the HARD disk.

In my opinion, there is nothing to do you will need to order new Win 7 64 bit recovery disc.

  • Satellite Pro C660 bricked by update of the BIOS that failed

My sister asked me to update his laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-16N; The part number PSC0ME-01S00SEN) of Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) of Windows 8 (64-bit).
    So I did.

Then I went UK from Toshiba Web site to check if there are any drivers I had to install for Windows 8. The only one was an update of the BIOS (for BIOS v1.70). I don't know what was the previous BIOS version number.

So I run the update application in Windows 8. Phoenix WinPhlash Technologies starts and then in the middle of the update, everything freezes.

The trackpad would not move the cursor or anything like that. I had no choice but to disconnect the phone from the wall and remove the battery. The laptop is not under warranty.

Of course, now it won't turn. It will beep once when I press the power button, but the system does not light. A few minutes later, it looks like one long beep and two short beeps. It then keeps repeating this sequence every two minutes "one long beep, 2 short beeps".

I google and read the site after the blog after the post on the forum, but nothing works. Links to the software offered on these forums/blogs/Web sites in french are usually dead, so I can't try what they suggest.

The most common solution is the Phoenix crisis recovery tool. I managed to download v1.0.0.4 which is supposed to allow me to make a bootable USB key. The version of this tool that I downloaded is supposed to be for a Lenovo ThinkPad X 200. I have the correct BIOS.rom to C660 Pro Satellite (I renamed BIOS.wph and copied to the appropriate folder).

I followed all the instructions, but it doesn't seem to work. Some sites say if it happens, I have the wrong version of phlash16.exe. Some other sites say that HP Boot Disk USB Utility should be used, but I don't know how to use it.

What I really need, is a definitive step by step foolproof guide to know what to do, with links to the files/tools to use for this model of laptop. I will follow this blindly (which I don't really understand what makes each step, I just do it with no understanding,) so if anyone can help me with this, please write a guide like an idiot!

If anyone can help me with this, I appreciate it. I'm really in a difficult situation - I can't really afford to pay a Toshiba ASP to fix it, and I can't afford a new laptop certainly. But I also couldn't bring myself to tell my sister, ' it's broken, deal!

    Thanks in advance.

  • Satellite Pro C660-1JL - how to change the language of Windows 7?

    Hello

I bought Toshiba preinstalled official Windows 7 Professional 64 service Pack 1. And I would like to change the language from German to the Russia.
In accordance with the instructions of the microsoft home page I could not get the result. MUI Pack does not appear when you are looking for Windows updated (some other updates are available only, but not language pack)...

What would you recommend how to fix this?
    Its Satellite Pro C660-1JL

    Hey,.

    > I bought Toshiba preinstalled official Windows 7 Professional 64 service Pack 1
You can change the language on Windows 7 Professional t, this is possible on Windows 7 Enterprise (volume license) and Windows 7 Ultimate edition.

So if you want another language, buy Windows 7 Ultimate or be happy with the current language of Windows 7 Professional. ;)

  • Satellite Pro C660-1NQ does not detect the WLan network

    Hi guys,.

We have a Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-1NQ here that does not at all, detect the wireless network
I checked the Device Manager and the wireless card does not show here.

I tried scanning for new hardware, but nothing was found. I tried to turn the wireless off tension with the function and the keys F8 but not yet showing in Manager devices or any new hardware...

Any ideas as to what I can try next?

    See you soon,.
    Ash

    Hello

It seems that the laptop would support the Wlan Atheros 802.11agn card.
Usually the Atheros Wlan card must appear in Device Manager as on the menu network cards.
If it s not appear do not then I recommend that you install the WLAN driver which can be downloaded here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/?page=downloads

Choose the Atheros Wireless LAN Adapter Windows 7 (32/64) 9.2.0.419.0 or newer
I hope this helps to detect the WiFi chip!

  • Question on the hard disk on Satellite M40X

I'm working on a clients M40x and the hard drive broke down and I would like to replace it and I have some options and I was wondering if they will work.

Currently, there is a MK6025GAS in which is fried. Below are the options I have.

    1 MK6034GAX
    2 MK8032GAX

Can I use a Maxtor? If Yes, what models?

    HUGE thanks :)

    Hi dude

You can use the hard disks of each production. It s any HDD manufacturing is. The HARD drive is important! So you need a drive that supports the enhanced IDE (ATA-6) interface!

The SATA drives are not compatible.

The MK6034GAX 60 GB HDD and MK8032GAX 80 GB HARD drive looks to support the ATA-100 interface (ATA-6). So, in my opinion, the hard drives must be compatible and should run

    Hello

Spilled water on the keyboard. Laptop has stopped working.
Dried, but did not recognize the HDD start up and HDD does not Set - up.
Moved the HARD drive to another location of the HARD drive on the laptop and it appears at startup and boot OK.
Is there an easy way to find and repair the defective HARD drive slot?

    Thanks for any help.

    PK

    Hello

The HARD drive slot is not repairable. It s a HARD disk controller and I guess the HARD disk controller is dead.
The HARD disk controller is part of the motherboard and if you want to repair it, so the entire motherboard must be replaced.

New motherboard would cost a small fortune he of not good about market 350Euros
That's why I put t think it is s to replace the mobo only to get the HARD drive in the first location of work

    This is my personal opinion...

  • Satellite Pro A300 - 13 X: Question on the product recovery disks

I recently bought a laptop Satellite Pro A300 - 13 X with Vista Business installed.
It came with two product recovery discs to install XP Professional.

Given that I decided just to use XP, I followed the procedure for recovery of product and I am now running XP from the first disc. It seems to work correctly.

I'm unable to install the second disc and I wonder where it is. It contains 7 application files 001-002-003-004 crc and tpa.

Anyone know what to do with this drive?

Don't know what this disc contains or how to install it, but check if everything works and if all programs and utilities are installed, which you had Windows Vista.

  • Satellite Pro L670 - 14 p - Question on the image editing screen

    Hi people,

    Have just bought the above laptop model online supercharged, 6 GB of RAM and had a few doubts about its relevance to specific tasks after reading a forum or 2 - (not this one). As I have not started because I can return it for a full refund (but must notify the seller prior to Wednesday 12 may not start if I want the refund) I was not able to solve the problems that I may have to know;

    1. I bought a versatile laptop because it is widescreen (have never owned a laptop before and served to 23 "screen on a desktop computer) BUT I do a reasonable amount of photography and the machine should display images at a decent level. It is a sine qua non for the purchase of the Toshiba. If it will not be so he can go back. Unfortunately I was not able to find the similar model in any store on site to see how it behaves.

2 have you read angles of vision are not large.

    3. good quality is mediocre.

Have anyone of you experience with this model, particularly if you're a photgraphy, and can you comment please? Any help will be appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

You can use this laptop for different purposes
The laptop supports a 17.3 HD + TFT color LCD with a resolution of 1600 x 900 and 16:9 aspect ratio.
For me, this looks like a great LCD!

    > 2. Reading view angles aren't great.

    _Horizontal look an Angle_
    -40 ~ + 40 degrees(Min.),-45 ~ + 45 degrees (Typ.)

    _Vertical look at an Angle_
    -10 ~ + 30 degrees(Min.),-15 ~ + 35 degrees (Typ.)

    Dot Pitch 0.2388 0.2388 x mm

    > 3. Sound quality is poor.
The laptop supports the audio chip Realtek ALC259-GR like most laptops.
Can not say something about the speakers, but it looks like they are not too small

  • Question about the new disk on the Satellite A100 (PSAA9)

    Hello!

To extend time to work on the battery to make hard disk access faster and to extend the disk space, I upgrade my hard drive.
    I found this beautiful disc:

    Link:
    [http://www.seagate.com/ww/v/index.jsp?locale=en-US&name=Momentus_7200.2_SATA_3.0Gb/s_160-GB_Laptop_Hard_Drive&vgnextoid=546207c8108dd010Vgn VCM100000dd04090aRCRD & vgnextchannel = c021a47948a3d0 10VgnVCM100000dd04090aRCRD & reqPage = model]

This hard drive is compatible with my Toshiba Satellite A series and you have a better solution please respone?

    Love, peace,
    Vasja.

The HARD drive is very nice.
The A100 PSAA9 series supports SATA 2.5 hard drives.
The 160 GB should also be compatible because some units of the A100 series were already equipped with 160 GB hard drives.

I think it s a HARD drive supported.

  • Satellite Pro L20 - is MS Office on the recovery disk

    Hello

This is my first time on this forum and I have little technical knowledge - please be gentle!

I have a portable Satellite Pro L20, who is now 4 years old (I got it in November 2005).

It has been running very slowly during the past year, so I removed all the software I use is no longer, have backed up all the files that I need to keep and defragment the hard drive.

I have not really noticed a difference in the speed, I understand that I can now try to format the hard drive and reinstall windows using the product recovery disc.

When I had first laptop, all I had to do was press the switch, enter a computer name and a couple of passwords and it is very well loaded with Office 2003, he waits for me to use!

Could someone tell me if the office is on the recovery disk?

It is said that a 2003 Note is there and I have a code for it, but don't talk about Word, Excel, Publisher, or PowerPoint - that I use on a daily basis.

I looked on the CD-ROM of the additional software that comes with the laptop, and it doesn't seem to be there.

Your help will be very appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hello

As much as I know Microsoft Office has not been installed on the Satellite Pro L20.
Only the OneNote2003 Office was delivered with this laptop.

But this isn't the same OneNote and office are two different software!

    Don t mix it!

  • Satellite Pro A120-154 - how to remove the HARD drive password?

    Hello

I have the following problem: I set a password for the HARD drive in my old Satellite Pro A120-154 years ago, and now I want to remove or change the passowrd since I'll give you this laptop for my nephew. Instead I don't know the password, I am not able to change or remove, not with the password of Toshiba uitility program and not with the BIOS set up.

Further I can't find any info on this in the user manual. How can I do this?

  • Satellite A100-451 - a few questions on the HARD drive, speakers

I hope someone can help with these that I could not help on the information line.

How fast is the hard drive on this laptop? He said SMART 160 GB, but does not specify a speed, although I'm guessing its 5400 RPM.

Are the Harmon Kardon speakers? The specs say Toshiba stereo, and even on the Comet, he said Harmon Kardon. Here is a good bass-wise?
Looks like there is no bluetooth, I find a little surprise.

Finally, the only place wherever I can find it for sale is the comet... I was wondering it anyone has also saw that I had some dodgy experiences with them.

    See you soon
    Matt

    Hello

I found some info that the rotation of the HARD drive is 4200 RPM. I'm not sure 100% on speakers but usually if laptop a harman/kardon speakers it is not in the specification but for A100-451, it is not the case. This info, you can get the garage directly.

BT is not available, and it shouldn't surprise you because most of the A100 models are supplied without BT module. You can use any time key USB BT. IT is simple to use and really cheap.

  • Satellite A200 - 1 M 5: sounds from the HARD disk that is not regular

    Dear,

I bought a new Satellite A200 - 1 M 5 1 week there are, but I have noticed a noise coming from your hard drive that is not regular, whenever the drive is currently in use, there is a noise from him. It's weird, I had Satellite phones precedents and never faced that.
is this normal in this series of satellites? or damage my hard drive? Although it works very well so far.

If anyone has an idea about this, please let me know it.

    Appreciate it.

    THX
    Salim

    > Whenever the drive is currently in use, there is a noise from him. It's weird
Who is normal behavior that the HARD drive makes sounds while working.
On some disks, the sound is louder and some drives are quieter.

My laptop comes with a 100 GB HARD drive and I noticed that this HARD drive work harder than the previous 40 GB HARD disk.

I don t think that there might be a problem with your HARD drive. It of new.
So, in my opinion you should t be worried.

and if the HARD drive is going to die your warranty covers the replacement ;)
