Satellite Pro C850-10U - corrupted hard disk drive

When turned on, it goes to windows recovery screen, then to Startup Repair screen which concludes that "Windows cannot repair this computer automatically. In the details of the problem menu drop down problem Signature 07 is "corrupted Volume. I removed the hard drive and run a diskcheck on it and found four occurrences of a bad block.

I intend to get a new HD to replace this drive and I got all the data I had on the disk. Unfortunately, I don't have any support recovery. I understand that I can buy a Toshiba recovery media. I want to be sure that, before you start this expense, my proposal is logical. Is there anything else I need to know?

Thank you very much

Hello

At first, I must say that you need to update your laptop with SSD and HDD not. This will increase the performance of your laptop. SSD isn't more expensive so I think it's the best option for you.

Recovery media: If you do not have original recovery media for your machine you can order on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx

I hope I could help you. If you have any other questions do not hesitate to ask.

    Hello

My computer is Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE4E) purchased Oct 2007, running Vista 32 bit. He was always a bit skittish and prone to crashing. The first time I ever did a Windows Update it projected blue, so I restored and never updated since.

The other day it started to emit beeps during startup, and while I could then get into, I think that the hard drive has failed, because now it runs very slow and crashes.

Think the forum that this laptop could never be made to be stable and reliable?

The hard drive is hard to change? I do it myself.

There the drive hard replacement somewhere online instructions?

Should what model of hard drive I install?

    Hello

Replacing the HARD drive is not difficult.
HARD drive Bay must be placed at the bottom of the unit.
You should see the drive Bay HARD fixed with a screw cover.
Remove the screws and you will see the HARD drive

To remove the HARD drive, remove the connectors

  • Re: Satellite Pro L - Eventviewer displays HARD disk controller error

I've had problems for at least two months, with slowing down, freezing same blueys etc. and eventviewer tells me that I have a HARD disk controller error. Now when I check the device it tells me - as do the dealers - work correctly, but after a chkdsk problem erases only coming later. My Toshiba characteristic of diagnosis does not work so I can't check without the use of a third-party application which I am very reluctant to do.

I am now lost for what to do given my position of dealers who fell to something I've done / downloaded etc. All the world has any ideas on how I can get my diag back function or other than eventviewer / chkdsk to identify what's wrong?

The machine is only 10 months with 500HDD core i5, 4 GB of RAM under Windows 7 Professional and Kasersky Pure as my ISS. I use it for general use at home and the little that is worrrying me is that even though my previous Toshiba had a HARD drive crash and had to be replaced - I might have to do a factory default or worse go format and just load a new OS on or get the drive HARD replaced at my expense ($450 last time). The drive is a Toshiba MK5055GSX and looking around locally can not see where we could be contained--if I have to.

It has become a nightmare, and even if I took an additional guarantee that feeling of time will run out before that I get something on this subject.
Any help would be so appreciated.

    Hi johndragon46,

I put t know what laptop you have exactly, but the fact is if the Eventviewer indicates an error of HARD disk controller it can be both: HARD drive itself or HDD motherboard controller.

You wrote that your laptop is only 10 months old then why n t contact you authorized service provider? Your laptop should still be under warranty and that means an ASP can fix your computer laptop free time guaranteed.

By the way: list of authorized service providers, you can find on the official website of Toshiba

    Good luck! :)

  • Satellite L500 - hard disk drive partitioning

    Hi all (first posting times)

I came across a little curiosity. Bought new laptop everything installed, then loaded into all the previous laptop backup files, brilliant all work...
But then noticed was running out of space on the hard disk (drive C)?

Why? It is a 500 GB hard drive. So I checked. Its actually a HDD 500 gig, divided into two, also. OK, understand that, first partition is C: for all files of system etc, there is d: recovery of files (using about 8 gig) then nothing else... what a mess.

So the question, can I do the largest C: drive by reducing the D: partition? If NOT, it would make more sense then just make another partition E: for example?

Oooh and I will make the recovery of files from damage by doing this.

All your advice much appreciated kind.

If it is not broken... your cheek is not hard enough *.

Why are you doing this so complicated? HARD drive has two partitions, and you can use all that space. Toshiba has saved the recovery image of HARD drive on the second partition, but this does not mean that you are not allowed to save your data there. You can do but just don't touch or change folder HDDRecovery. Just leave it there, or make it invisible.

This file can be used later for the installation of HARD disk image - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm
    Imagine the following situation:
You save all your stuff on the C partition and one day for some reason you cannot boot OS and it is completely unusable. What you can do? Maybe install OS again. OK good idea, but you will lose all your important data.

In order to better is to save all the stuff on the D partition, and if something goes wrong, you can install OS using HARD drive recovery facility. This means that C partition will be formatted and clean the OS installed on it by using the image of the D partition. The point is that any data saved to the D partition will be there and you won't lose anything.

If you want to install the OS via recovery DVD (hopefully you have created the) the whole HARD drive will be formatted and you will lose all saved data.
I hope you understand now how it works then think of all the important data and save it as with certain external devices too.

  • Satellite Pro C850-1FN stucks in the form of preparation of auto repair

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro C850 1FN and for some reason it stuck in a display of automatic preparation for startup repair. He will be sitting with the text on the screen, and after 8 minutes bluescreen shows then talk about a problem and then re boot PC.

    The cycle then continues.

    Any ideas greatly appreciated.

    Hello

It looks like the repair automatic isn t possible.
Have you tried another HARD drive recovery option?

The HARD drive recovery process would begin the new system, but also the driver installation and would set the laptop back to factory settings.

I think that if the system repair isn't possible, your next step should be the HARD drive recovery.
In case the recovery of HARD drive would not work too, then you should use the recovery disc.

    Hello

Have a look here in this How To doc:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=78

It would allow you to know which device you have and then you could find compatible drivers

I can tell you that in many cases drivers released for other series of laptop would be too much work. You can test the drivers released for Satellite C850 (not Pro) series

  • Satellite Pro C850 - missing Recovery Media Creator

I recently bought a C850 Pro Satellite and, after update to Windows 7 and everything defining the way I like it, I tried to create a recovery media.

However, when I click on Recovery Media Creator in the programs, the file 'TRMCLcher.exe' is not found. In fact, I can't find anywhere on the computer.

In the directory C:/Program Files/Toshiba/Toshiba Recovery Media Creator, there is an app called "toRDC.exe" but it does not.

Someone has ideas how to get creator of Meda recovery to run? D rather avoid the hassle to use the recovery option of hard drive partition to return to factory settings if possible, especially as I doubt m Recovery Media Creator works even in this case, I have seen ve not deleted or modified files with the program.

Grateful for any help, thank you.

Take a look at this page:
    http://www.MyToshiba.com.au/support/computers/Satellite/Pro/C850/pskc9a-00t019/download?OS=25

Here, I could find the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator for Win 7 64 bit for download.
Of course, if you need 32-bit version, you must change the settings in the upload form.

The laptop worked without any problem with a spotlight for months, but its only today that it is unable to connect to a projector via a VGA cable.

So far, I have tried to use the laptop on different different projectors, but will not work on any.
I have used different VGA cables, uninstalled the driver display and then reinstalled the latest driver, updated chipset and bios but nothing seems to work.

Physically, the VGA port seems fine, I tried to project using FN + F4 and the windows key + P, the two options do not work. I have also a right-click on the desktop, properties, all the eyes of correct parameters, also sought to graphics options right click again this sounds all very well.

The laptop is running windows 7 32 bit.

Suggestions as to what to try next?

    Thank you

What exactly happens when you press Fn + F4 (or only F4)?
    Other function keys work correctly?

The laptop seems to also support the exit HDMI port.
Are you able to connect the laptop to an external monitor and the output video using the F4 function key?

    > I asked this question on the Microsoft forums and I've learned to run the troubleshooter of material (did not help) and if defective, to search for the latest drivers for keyboard - I seem to have the most recent for my model, as from Toshiba Web site does not list the keyboard updates.

It seems that this opinion is not from Microsoft staff, but some users of the forum.
You should know that the drivers of keyboard (developed by Microsoft) are still part of the Windows System. Any Windows OS you use, the keyboard driver would be always installed as part of the OS. This means that the drivers of special keyboard DON T exist but system uses own driver...

You can check the functionality of the keyboard in USB external keyboard.
If external keyboard works properly, the internal keyboard is malfunctioning and must be replaced.

If the external keyboard does not work properly too, then I recommend you to recover the laptop using Toshiba HDD recovery. Otherwise, there could be question of motherboard (keyboard controller).

  • Satellite Pro C850 - 1 M - update to Win 8.1 fails - error 0xC1900101 - 0 x 30018

    Hi all

bought a new satellite Pro C850-1MX (PSCBZE 00M009GR) in December 2013. System works virtually unchanged to the State of delivery. Yet installed OpenOffice and Firefox, AdobeReader in most actual versions. And a updated driver for AMD GPUS to the latest version. No other changes made.

Now I tried to upgrade to 8.1 via Windows-App-Store Windows. Download was made, run, reboot, installation of changes, preparation of devices--> restart, rollback to 8.0 with 0xC1900101 - 0 x 30018 error code upgrade.

    Searched internet solutions: Toshiba ISC
-updated all the components Toshiba via TOSHIBA Service Station--> fact
-(Lien: [http://www.toshiba.de/innovation/generic/windows8_1-upgrade-stepbystep/]): uninstall some components: esp. LAN/WLAN-driver.

Hmmm... If I do I can't access to Windows App-Store to re-run the upgrade because I have no connection to the network. Stupid...

-Why I'm updating a nearly unchanged system due to some driver-inflicted where I has not changed anything of the delivery status of can´t?

Please indicate any tip/solution. Thank you!

This error message appears because of some incompatible drivers and tools that are already pre-installed on Windows 8.

This problem has been reported several times here in the forum and has been resolved as indicated by user harrie_1 on January 12, 2014
    Look in this thread: http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=74631

Check that drivers must be uninstalled in Appendix a.
[How update of Windows 8 for Windows 8.1 | http://support.toshiba.com/sscontent?contentId=4003162]

+ What is important to remove the internet connection. +
+ Only use to download 8.1 and then disconnect (also the Lan cable) +.
+ After Win start 8.1 for the first time do not connect to the internet. +

+ On another pc download first for 8.1 audio, realtek wlan and bluetooth drivers and driver display. +
+ Install and reboot after that when system is stable, you can connect to the internet and download the updates of windows. +

PS: this thread should be closed to avoid the misunderstandings and because the other thread already exists

    Hello

Your order of installation of drivers contains the Intel WLan driver.
But the laptop Satellite Pro C850-1 GR was equipped with the Realtek RTL8723AE WLan/BT combo card.

I think that you need to uninstall the Realtek WLan driver and WLan Intel driver.
In addition, you must pay attention to the functionality of BT.

The card is compatible with the BT and you need to install the driver Package Realtek Bluetooth filter before installing the battery Toshiba BT.

In addition, do not forget that this WLan adapter is enabled by using the FN + F12 (or just the F12)

Finally and above all do not forget WHAT BIOS the dafault value
