  Turn the laptop over and unscrew the cover on the ram. Then remove the ram and try to turn it on again. If it lights, put the piston inside the laptop and try again. It does not turn on?   Hope you can help. We have a 5 years satellite pro L20 who never gave a lot of days. It runs from Win XP, had an upgrade (crucial) memory to 2 GB and a new battery 4 years ago 4 years ago. 2 days ago, he simply left with the same noise you get when force a shutdown by holding the power button down.   I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L10, which won't work for some reason any.

  The last time that I used it, it worked perfectly fine, but now all I get is a black filtered message on "windows starts do not successfully»

  It seems that the laptop is not able to boot the system, but I m not quite sure if it s because of the defective system or HARD drive corruption.
  If it s just a system problem, the installation of the new Windows operating system should help you to get it resolved.

  In case the HARD disk is defective, you need to replace the HARD drive and reinstall the system.
