Satellite Pro L10: The laptop usable continuous 24/7?

I read in an article that portable computers (especially their fans) are not designed to run 24/7. Is this true? Y at - it a specification on the fan?

Laptop computer in question: Satellite Pro L10 15th PSL

Thank you
Chris

Hello Chris

The laptops are designed to operate without brakes. Prerequisite for this is that the unit must be positioned correctly and nothing should be placed on the movement of air way. The unit is cooled properly on this path.

The cooling fan is active only if necessary and it is controlled by sensors on the motherboard. Unfortunately there is no separate specification on the cooling fans.

  • Problem of backlight Satellite Pro L10 - the screen is very dark

    Hello

I've got a L10 Pro of the Satellite with a backlight problem - the screen is very dark.
How can I confirm if it is the backlight themselves who have failed or the backlight inverter Board?

Also, can someone point me in the right direction for a copy of the workshop manual?

    Thank you very much!

    Hello

As you have said that this problem could be linked to the failure of inverter FL and in most cases, the FL inverter needs to be replaced.
It's a little bit complicated and it s not desirable to try to replace it to your own hand as this may damage the screen of laptop computers.
This is why I would really recommend contacting a Toshiba ASP because of two important reasons:
First reason is that you can order the ASP compatible FL inverter and the second reason is that an ASP could provide help how to replace this part.

If you want to know where and how he placed s then you can visit this page:
    http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/Toshiba-Satellite-A105/remove-replace-LCD-screen-1.htm

Of course, this page shows only the wow of instruction to remove and replace the Satellite A105 FL inverter, but the procedure is not very different from the Sat L10.

But like I said above; If you have no experience don t do anything, which could damage the laptop!

  • Satellite Pro A300 - the cursor moves continuously when connected an external mouse

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro A300. When I connect a mouse directly by USB the cursor moves constantly. I also have a mouse attached via a docking station, Toshiba and that works perfectly.

It doesn't matter what USB port I use or if the laptop is connected to the docking station or not, or if it works on AC or on battery power.

I thought it was the mouse that was the problem, so I went and bought a new one but the problem persists.

Actually, while I wrote this post, he has stopped doing that and then started! Very frustrating.

    Can anyone help?

    Thank you

  • Satellite Pro L10, the hard disk activity?

Hi, I noticed that on my new L10 Pro of Satellite keeps it hard drive light flashing every 3 seconds approximately and I can also hear disk activity, even when he's just sitting there idle. I was wondering if this is normal, if so why? I was a little suspicious, so I checked all processes running, nothing suspicious. I thoght maybe it's because my drive is fragmented, then defragmented but no change. I thought maybe theres a kind of disk being cached on. I have 512 MB of ram and adequate committed virtual memory, if its doing with VMM is this normal?

    Hello

It is not easy to say what the reason for this. I had a similar problem with my Satellite. The HARD drive was very often active and very slow. In my case, the reason was the antivirus software. The scanning of the HARD drive has been the almost permanent process and something to work on the machine was almost impossible.

After removing the antivirus software HDD is fast. Now, I found a new and there is no problem more.

  • Satellite Pro L10: Enter key malunction

    Hello.

On my Satellite Pro L10, the Enter key does not work. I tested it in the BIOS and it works but it does not work in Windows XP. If someone from the software fixes or advice I would be very grateful

    Hello

It's a very strange question, but you should be more specific about this. How did you test the feature key of entry? Is there the same result if you use Notepad or the same conversation programs Office applications? Your device's pre-installed with recovery media?

As much as I know it isn't common Windows problem and it is unclear to me that there is a patch for this problem.

  • Satellite Pro L10: USB on and goes off when I try to use the USB modem

I have a mobile broadband usb t-mobile I want to use it on my Satellite Pro L10.
When I attach to one of the usb ports then the laptop it is, but it loses then every 10-15 seconds (without interruption).

I'm on XP Pro and usb Sockets work very well for a USB and a printer.
I also tried to fix via a hub with external power usb and a pcmcia card with usb port, with exactly the same results.

It works perfectly on my wifes laptop, it seems to be a conflict or a software problem.
I flashed the bios and updated as well as seems relevant that I can.
I continue updating the drivers etc, but in the meantime, I was wondering if anyone had any bright ideas?

A healthy idea of mind is considered, it is starting to drive me up the wall! Mike

    Hey Buddy,

  • Satellite Pro L10 will not start the system

    Hello!

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L10, which won't work for some reason any.

The last time that I used it, it worked perfectly fine, but now all I get is a black filtered message on "windows starts do not successfully»

It indicates that the computer is not responding and asked me to choose one of the five options - safe mode, safe mode with network, security mode command, last known configuration, prompt or start windows normally.

There is also a 30 second countdown if I do nothing the portable samekh automatically.
It is, none of these things work.

Everything that happens with any option is to a thought very much time on things, then it goes to a black screen with a time/processing bar downstairs, then when that ends it turns itself off, samekh, mw windows page shows (with f2 and f4/f10? options) and the process is repeated.

He did about 50 times now and still nothing.
I tried the command ctrl/alt/del, I tried to turn if off and try again, I even opened the f options but I don't know enough about computers to do more.

    Help, please!

If possible I would like to get the computer on long enough to verify what documents I have on this subject before I can back up (if necessary) and restore it to the factory settings (as I predicted), or if this is not possible, I do not think that there is a lot to lose in this respect in any case, am prepared to take it all back to factory if necessary. I have all necessary installation CD and manuals to go with.

hope this makes sense and I gave you all you need to know.

    Thanks, B

It seems that the laptop is not able to boot the system, but I m not quite sure if it s because of the defective system or HARD drive corruption.
If it s just a system problem, the installation of the new Windows operating system should help you to get it resolved.

In case the HARD disk is defective, you need to replace the HARD drive and reinstall the system.

  • Replacing the screen for Satellite Pro L10

The screen is cracked badly on my Satellite Pro L10. About how much can I expect to pay for a replacement within the United Kingdom. Is this something that I can wait to replace me with a screwdiver and some care?

How much would a complete hull and the screen?

Where can get me a - Toshiba service center my best bet?

    Hello

The fact is that the screen of the laptop is one of the most expensive neighborhoods that are installed on the laptop.
But unfortunately, I do not know what will cost repletion.
This information you won't get form the Toshiba service partner in your country.
I recommend you ask the service partner.

Well, you have the difference between SATA and IDE hard drives.
This laptop was certainly equipped 2.5 HDD that support the IDE interface.

I know that some L10 notebooks were shipped with 40 GB and 60 GB HARD drive.

  • Satellite Pro L10 boot password is not the same as in HWSetup

I recently got a laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro L10 by my employer. I entered a password and then confirm the password again in the configuration of HW from Toshiba in Control Panel of Windows XP. Then I clicked on the recommended option. No string or password was displayed in the box under Registered.

Since then, I was not able to boot up the laptop as the password that I entered Setup of HW is not recognized by the laptop started upward. I tried to type the password with caps lock, shift, and numlock on also. Are there any bugs or fault with defining a password for starting in the HW configuration utility? If there is a fault or a bug I would have preferred that the portable computer password is removed under the guarantee.

If I have to pay a Service partner.

    Hi Geoff

On this path, it is not easy to tell what's going on exactly, but I assume that your employer has implemented BIOS password. You can enter the BIOS settings by using the F2 key at startup?

The BIOS password removal is not part of the guarantee and it must be paid. In my opinion, you must bring the laptop to your employer. He probably has Admin rights and it can set up passwords on the right track.

  • Satellite Pro L10: How to remove the user password

    Hello

I work for a school and we have a bunch of laptops Satellite Pro L10. I put a supervisor on all laptops password think this problem would be solved (I didn't enter a password each time the machines are enabled), but one of our students seems to have found its way to the HWSetup utility in Control Panel and could save a user password on one of the laptops.

Alarmingly there seems to be no way to clear the password of the user, even though I have the supervisor password. I can get the BIOS as a supervisor, but the definition of a user password option is grayed out. Can anyone provide a solution for my problem?

    Thank you

    Hello

Well, I think that this problem could be solved by updating the BIOS to the version 2.60 or greater.
But the problem is that the password has already been fixed.

I read in the paper of Toshiba that all passwords must be removed before starting the BIOS updates.
That's why I think it would be advisable to contact Toshiba service partner to remove first the user password, and then update the BIOS.

You know it's very risky to update the BIOS of the device when the user or any password has been set.
It of possible that the BIOS update procedure will be interrupted if the password exists.

  • Satellite Pro L10: How the WLAN status to be always on?

We have laptops Satellite Pro L10 at school. The button on the front of the machines that allows you to disable the WiFi network is a real pain because it's one extra thing to go wrongwhilst trying to get a laptop to access our network wireless school.

Is there anyway to disable this button so that laptops will still access wireless networks accessible to the general public?

    Hello

Sorry but there is not much to do. If the WIFI network is configured properly it won't take long time to connect the laptop to school WLAN. I know it's probably boring to you, but there is not much to do.

  • Satellite Pro L10: Question about saving the files on a CD

Please can someone tell me how I can save a typed document (produced in Word or similar) on the CD? I don't have a floppy drive on my satellite pro L10 portable. Have 'saved' music using the immediate recording before, but now need to record your actual work on the hard disk for transport to a pc with access to a printer.

When I tried it told me incorrect function, contact administrator (that's me!) I tried CD - R and CD - RW discs and neither would not let me save the file on it. would be grateful for any advice regarding this.

    Thank you

    Hi Roy,

First of all, you will ned to ensure that you have enabled logging on oprical drive you. For this a right-click on the CD-ROM in my computer icon and then selecting "properties-> recording. Make sure that "Enable CD writing on this drive" is checked.

Once you have done the above, you can simply drag the documents that you want to copy on the CD-ROM icon in my computer.

Note that the burning process does not happen immediately. Windows caches the files to be placed on your hard drive first and then you can burn all documents cached only once.

Alternatively, you may find that some third-party software has been bundled with your portable computer, which performs a similar function the standard Windows CD burn software.

    Kind regards
