Satellite Pro L100 132 broken badly - how to check?

Well, here you have it: I dropped to the bottom of my laptop on the floor cement, some three weeks after buying, but it still works! (It's a Satellite Pro L100 132) With technicians, we ordered the necessary parts: plastic covers around the screen and the keyboard.

No other problems are visible (I actually use the little guy at the present time, it behaves as usual), but you never know. So, my question: what are the problem areas that I need to check that everythings continues to work very well? And how can I archive them actually?

I have heard things on the HARD drive, but not in details. In fact it was the fault of all stupid of the bag, it slipped right on my shoulder.

Confound it!

It a shame to hear this.
But maybe you re a lucky guy and nothing was serious damage.
If the screen is working properly and that you are able to boot the operating system so I guess also the HARD drive was not damage and it works fine.

I would recommend to open Notepad or remove something if you have no experience. I think that technicians should check your laptop. But if everything works fine, so I think that there is no need to s.
Take care ;)

The original memory of our laptop (Satellite Pro L100-132) is 512 MB.

I bought an extra memory to 1 GB (type has been verified in the product documentation).
I installed the additional memory, the system starts and you can see the additional 1 GB memory.

However, the system does not see the original memory of 512 MB, additional memory is installed on the laptop.

The system should see memory original and extra, because according to the specification for the serial number of the cell phone (checked on the official website of Toshiba) the maximum memory (which can see the system) is 2 GB.

I tried to transpose the place of original and additional memory between them, but the problem is the same.

  • Satellite Pro L100 132: the battery is only 2000mA

    Hi all
I bought the model L100-132. The battery is only 2000 mAh and lasts 1 hour. I turned off anything, the power set MAX_BATTERY saver, but it gives nothing. All the sites he says last for more than 2 hours, and some say it's almost 3: 00. OK, so if they have so long and then they gave me too little!

I should not receive at least 4000 mAh?
Maybe someone has this model with the same small battery?
Please, answer if you can at [email protected]

    Thank you.

Well, I think that the laptop will be delivered with a standard 2000mAh battery, but you can order a stronger battery with perspicuously much more performance.
I visited and checked the site Web of Toshiba Options and accessories, and you may find additional batteries:

    Battery Pack (6 cells, 4300mAh) PA3399U-1BRS
    Battery (Li-ion, 4000mAh, 6 cells) PA3465U-1BRS
    Battery (Li-ion, 4000mAh 8-cell) PA3506U-1BRS
    Battery (Li-ion, 4300mAh, 8 cells) PA3457U-1BRS
    Battery high capacity Pack (Li-ion, 12 cells, 8600mAh) PA3400U-1BRS

But in addition, you need to know the battery working time depends mainly on the use of the laptop.

  • Satellite Pro 6100: message "RTC bad battery appears, check CMOS.

When I move my 6100 SP it freezes, and then when it is restarted the message "bad RTC battery is displayed, check CMOS. I also noticed that when the machine hangs the fan operates at high speed and the bottom of the machine and the keyboard gets very hot.
    Need your advice.

Did you change or replace the RTC battery?
The error message looks like a death or a bad RTC battery.
You should try to charge the battery (plug the AC adapter / CC)
Try to enter the BIOS setup and check all options. You can set the BIOS default settings.
Check if it helps. If it's not, so I guess there is something wrong with the RTC battery and it should be changed.

  • Of cover and hinges replacement broken on Satellite Pro L100

I'm hoping to find some more info if I can. I have a Satellite Pro L100 and I got it for about 15 months, for the second time again the lid cracks around the hinge area, it is now out of warranty! I know that I need to replace the lid and the affair around the screen, but I need to replace the hinges as well?

I na? t really wants to spend on the case if the problem will come back, thank you.

I also suggest exchanging the hinges, too, because the material probably weakly started and I think that if you simply exchange the cover and the case, you will have the same problem after a while.

The new hinges should be harder and last longer...

    I think ;)

  • Satellite Pro L100 PSLA1E - need a new charger

Hey, to cut a long story short I need a new charger for my laptop and didn't know exactly how many different models there is.

    My laptop is a:

    Satellite Pro L100
    Model no 004006EN - PSLA1E-

The site I am trying to buy the charger is asking a number of model and offering me 3 choices, A120-186, 187-A120, A120-216.

    Which is right for me?

The laptop would be compatible with this adapter:

    AC adapter / CC (3. 42 a, 65W, 19V, 3 pins) * PA3467E-1AC3 *.

Use google and search for the part number.

  • Satellite Pro M70-132: excellent WiFi connection but the pings are slow

    Hi all...
My Satellite Pro M70-132 have problems with Wi - Fi connections (WiFi built in)... Generally, when the connection is excellent (indicator of windows), the pings are slow - very long time: 1212ms, 325ms, 645ms, 2112ms, 91ms, s 168ms... etc 'demand time limit has expired' (or sth like this).
I have updated with the latest version of the Intel WiFi driver - it does not work...
I installed new system - it does not work...

Is it possible, that LAN WiFi is dead on my M70-132? How can I check before sending my 'Toshi' to the service?

(BTW - built-in Bluetooth has been switched off...)

I was tempted to access with several AP and also ad hoc. Every time, same results... connection strong-great but pings are slow... and often ping timeout...

The IP address has been set manually and automatically - it does not work... too multidimensional :-(

It's not metter WEP encryption is enabled, 'on' or 'off' and no authentication method does not change the situation with WLAN...

If the work of WLan connection and you are connected to the router so I guess everything's ok.
Time to ping depends on not always the strength of the signal.

If you ping other ip on the net if the time depends on the provider and type of connection.
But if you ping your WLan router and it s very slow so it s a bit strange.

If you think there could be something wrong with the Wlan card then you can try asking for help ASP.

  • Re: Satellite Pro L100 - lines on screen

I am looking at a Satellite Pro L100 and there are lines from top to bottom on the screen. These are very thin, but boring. IN some cases, the screen is totally blank.
The lines come and go when I move the screen back. Can you advise?

    Thank you

    Hi csgwasteman,

I think Al - eX is right. This sounds like a broken LCD cable and it must be exchanged. But for other diagnostics, you can connect an external monitor. You may notice the same problem there? If this is not the case, replace the LCD cable.

You can order such a cable a certified maintainer: decision-making supported downloads & => find an authorized service provider

    Good luck! :)

  • What is a current market value of the Satellite Pro L100-125

I currently have a laptop Satellite Pro L100-125, that I've had for a few years now.
It's getting on abit I know, but until recently, he did everything I needed it to do. Unfortunately, I had a small accident and the laptop has been damaged.

Asking for a new home insurance since I'm not able to buy a new laptop for now (being student humble and everything!). The insurance company asked about the damage and the value of the computer.

The damage, I know, this is the current value of the computer that I'm not sure of!
Its probably not much, but if I get it wrong then a number of things can happen!
If I declare that the value is higher than it actually is, they say it's fixable or say that it is a fraudulent application!

If I declare the value too low, then we'll write him offshore but I get a very good replacement (I know it's the lesser of two evils and looks like I'm just try on, but this claim will push my premiums until next year regardless, so I might as well get the best that I can possibly get out of it!).

Anyone happen to know the current market value of a laptop with the specifications below?

The computer is a Satellite Pro L100-125
Intel Centrino Duo T2400 1.83 GHz
2 GB of RAM (512 MB originally)
    60 GB HARD drive

Also, just so that I know what to expect, no one knows the approximate cost of replacing the screen and the housing on this particular laptop?

Any help at all would be much appreciated.

Satellite L100 series is already abandoned and it seems no more on the market
The point is that you could buy a new a lot harder for laptop with the best hardware specifications for about 400-500 euros.
I don't have no idea how the fix would cost, but if the screen or motherboard would have died then the repair process could be a costly affair because the display and motherboards are more expensive laptop parts

  • Satellite Pro L100 - where to find the plastic lid frame?

I put t really know if this is the right place to post this?
    I have a satellite Pro L100. I had for about 2 years.

On the first day, I had problems with plastics in the screen and the "lid" two cracks they been replaced twice.
Today already, I need to buy a new one but I run problems trying to find part numbers.

I know as L100 model number but they keep asking for a number three-digit and I have no idea where to find it.

So on that help in would be great.
Also how can I find the part number for the plastics?
It happened at the stage where the screen is about to fall!

    Please help, thanks

Usually the laptop model number and serial number are at the bottom of the device!
There are different labels and one of the labels should provide these figures.

Then you can contact the Toshiba ASP in your country to order framework compatible display.

I put t know the part number, but I m the ASP would be able to help you

  • After replacemant keyboard keys do not work on Satellite Pro L100

I have problems replacing my laptop to a Toshiba Satellite Pro L100 keyboard. I adapted my laptop with a keyboard replacement brand new, it is detected by windows. But when I press any button, nothing happens.

It was the same problem with my previous keyboard. There is nothing broken inside the laptop or the clip that I can tell. But I can't understand why it does not work since I installed the keyboard properly.

My computer detects only external keyboards (when I connect it to a USB keyboard). I checked the BIOS and the keyboard is turned on.

Did someone knows what I could or should do? Please help me, thank you.

Sorry, he says, but it's not easy to say why the keyboard does not especially the dysfunction of the keyboard is related to the hardware problem laptop

But I wonder why you did not contact the maintainer authorized Toshiba?
To my knowledge, the satellite Pro L100 is not an oldie and security must be still valid and each replacement repair or part of the laptop should be done for free.
Then why have you tried to replace the keyboard by yourself?

I recommend to ask the guy to service to help immediately

  • Satellite Pro L100 - Crash during the update of the Bios

I am the owner of a Satellite Pro L100 (PSLA4E)

On the Toshiba site I downloaded the BIOS update. While installing I read that it was necessary to supply cable is plugged. Before I could cancel for the cable, he had started and then frozen. The computer stopped working and so I turned it off! Since then, I've read that it was a very big mistake!

When put on the fan starts and I can hear etc cd drive spinning. After 15 seconds, the screen is blank, the computer starts beeping!
Is there a way to solve this?

    Thank you very much

    Hi Richard

Seems not good buddy from your description, that something went wrong during the update procedure and now the ROM module has been flashed properly.

Maybe you area lucky man and the motherboard isn't too bad, but only the Rom module must be flashed again.

Unfortunately, this must be done by the technician of the ASP. You will need to contact the ASP in your country for assistance.

Good luck and have a nice day

  • Satellite Pro L100 need more RAM for the graphics

I have a Satellite Pro L100 with a 256 MB of the igp x200m no specialized version. Must automatically RAM my system RAM based on what system total RAM I have installed. 512 MB it took 64 MB, 1 GB, but 128 MB. I was wondering if someone could tell my how to beyond 1 GB RAM, say 1.5 or 2 GB?

    Thank you

    Hi Jessica

According to the specifications of the laptop, the graphics card supports 32 to 256 MB video memory shared.
So in my opinion, it should be able to use the 256 MB like max.
In the properties of the ATI radeon graphics card, you will find the tab called Frame Buffer
Here you can change the size of the memory to higher value UMA frame buffer

The memory of 1.5 GB should be enough to choose the 256 MB graphics card
