Satellite Pro L20: Wireless connection is not reliable

Hello

We have some Toshiba laptops in the office.

However, the wireless on our most recent purchase (Satellite Pro L20) installation is very reliable. Periodically he loses sight of the network without apparent reason.

We have the device permanently connected, and the problem can occur even when the machine is in the middle of copying files to and from the network server.

The actual wireless access point is within a few feet of distance (in view), so I can't imagine there is a problem of signal strength. Can anyone offer me any guidance?

I don't know where to start on this one there...

TIA
Stephen

    Hello

Also try switching to the external device settings Intel. You can find it under Advanced display settings. I also recommend you to reinstall the TOSHIBA utilities. I'm not 100% sure but it may be responsible for the function FN + F5.

Also check Toshiba HWSetup under the view tab. Activate LCD + analog RGB option.

  • Satellite Pro L20: WLan connection is limited to 5 meters

    Hello
My Satelite Pro L20 is connected to the Orange livebox, but cannot go further than 5 meters and disconnected. Any help?

    Hello

    One question;
Where is placed the WLan router?
In the same room you book or are the walls between the router and the wireless network card.

Sometimes, this could be a reason for a lower range of WLan.
But we must try first of all to enable full implementation of card WLan.

Please enter the WLan card properties. (Device Manager-> right click on the WLan card-> properties)
There you can select the Advanced tab. You should see the power of the economy option of-> please turn it off.
In addition, you should find there more options that could increase the range of WLan and performance. Please check.

Of course a new version of the wireless network card could also improve the performance of the WLan card.
I m not sure what card have you use but please consult the WLan and Toshiba card manufacturing site.

  • Satellite Pro A60 Wireless connection problem

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro A60 which was connected to our main office using a Linksys Home Wireless - G USB adapt to I can share files and also connect to our connection broadband. The main office is connected directly to a G from Linksys home wireless gateway. It worked fine then for no reason (no settings have been changed or installed software) the laptop does not connect to the desktop or the internet. The software Linksys says that it is connected to the access point, but the internet cannot be found. Even if he says that it is connected I can't get to the desktop.

I tried to set up a dial-up connection independent for updating drivers etc, but after the normal dial tones, he says that it cannot connect to the remote computer.

We tried everything that we think would be grateful for any ideas. Please speak slowly and distinctly also even if I know a little technical jargon computers is a language that I'm not still commonly!

    Thank you very much

    Hello

It's really not easy to say what can be the problem. In my opinion, you must remove all the settings and adapter WLAN Device Manager. Restart the unit, reinstall the wireless card and make a WLAN configuration again.

In my opinion, it is very important to know if the WIFI network of the device works correctly, and if you are able to share files between the laptop and our main office. If it works properly again check the settings on our front door.

One is the problem with Notepad or another device. If someone of your friends has a WIFI at home, you can try to check the laptop WIFI functionality. On this way, you can be sure that if the problem is caused by your Satellite Pro.

If you find a solution please let me know what the problem is.

    Good luck!

  • Satellite Pro 4600 Wireless card does not work with WIN2K?

I have a Satellite Pro 4600 with UK dealer PA3070U-1MPC wireless operating with Windows 2000 card

The wireless client Manager detects the network from my wireless router and the signal is excellent and I see all the Green swhowing bars.

But I can't mske a connection in 'connections' wireless says "network cable is disconnected.

the router works well with other laptops in my house.

I have the latest version of Win2K also downloaded and installed the latest versions of client manager and WLAN driver for win2k to the toshiba Web site.

'Support of toshiba in Turkey' told me ' I need another driver for Win2K for my driver wireless card cause win2K on the toshiba site isn't for "thie" wireless card ". I have been waiting for this for 3 weeks now and couldn't join the UK level 3 elusive support who supposed to have this driver. I saw on the internet is the same wireless card was sold as an accessory "made by toshiba" and he said that it is compatible with Wim2K

What I then please? It works with Win2K, is it "another driver" and so on?

    Thank you

    Hello

I don t think that there is something wrong with the driver because you can receive signals from router (green bars). If the driver WLan would be a mistake if wouldn t receive all signals.
Please check device manager. If the wireless card is recognized if you are using the correct driver and the driver has been installed correctly.
    Please see this page:
    http://209.167.114.38/support/TechSupport/TSBs/all/-TSB000705.htm

In my view, the message "network cable is disconnected" appears because your (NOT wireless) LAN cable is not connected. This post has nothing to do with the question of Wlan.
You should check your WLan settings again.

  • Satellite Pro P200: network connectivity is not stable

I have a Satellite Pro P200, which was downgraded from Vista to XP Pro SP3 corporate.

I use a sensitive enough network application that will crash when network connectivity is lost.
This application has been blocking a lot since I downgraded to XP, so I tried to run a continuous ping that gave rise to many messages Request Timed Out (the maximum number of attempts where I actually had ongoing responses was about 30 but is usually much less).

I use the driver downloaded from the Support from Toshiba site (Realtek RTL8139/810 x Family Fast Ethernet Nic - v5.664.205.2007), wireless network works fine, tried to connect to the network using a cable and a port different without change, and using a different laptop with the same cable and port works fine.

The yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager is a memory PCI controller which I believe is for the Intel Turbo Memory, because it is not compatible with Windows XP.

Any ideas what could be the cause.
I tried reinstalling the driver several times without success, it is likely to be software partners or could it be a hardware failure?

I think it's related software and troublemaker is SP3. Test it with SP2 only and it will work perfectly. Friend of mine noticed permanent data LAN transfer interruptions after installing SP3. Remove everything works well again.

  • Satellite Pro 4340: Wireless connection problem

I can't connect my sons Satellite pro 4340 using a belkin preN wireless card Belkin router to take are there problems that I need to know or anyone could do that?

    Hello

Well, if you want t use WiFi, you must pay attention to the different settings and options.
First of all, are you sure that you have installed the wireless network card correctly and it appears in Device Manager 100%?
    Please check!

After the properly installing the LAN on laptop computer card, you must configure the WLan router.
For most installation instructions delivered with the package and you will need to follow these guidelines!

For the first time, I would not recommend to set of ciphers.
You must first test the connection without encryption, and if it works then you can allow it.

I recently started having problems to be able to connect wirelessly.

laptop is able to find connections to home and my wireless router. but it is impossible to connect. or when it does, the soons connection becomes broken and she begins searching for signals to connect to. Hi dazzablack,

What operating system is installed on your laptop? You use the preinstalled version of Windows 7 in Toshiba or your own installation?

Maybe the problem has something to do with the WLAN energy saving settings. I check the Windows power management and set the card WLAN for maximum performance. If you can ensure that you will always have the best performance of WLAN. :)

    Hello

For most Wlan issues are related to problems of compatibility between the wireless network card and the Wlan router.
Sometimes the Wlan driver allows to obtain the best performance.
So, try to update the WLan driver first. Maybe it helps.

    Good luck

  • Satellite Pro L500 - wireless connection is very slow and unstable

    Hello

I bought a Satellite Pro L500 a couple of weeks (Windows 7 and Realtek 8191SE). I have no problem connecting to public networks, but I can't use it at my place, where I have a broadband cable connection.
The strange thing is that, in the same room, I have no problem with my old A105 Satellite (Windows XP).

It is also very strange the fact that, even if the signal is good, sometimes excellent, the connection is very slow and unstable (it disconnects when I try to browse the Internet).

    I have already tried:

    -Update the Realtek drivers.
    -Disconnect the firewall;
-Modification of the properties of the Realtek card.

Maybe it's a problem with the software or, on the contrary, with the material?

    Thank you!
    Poncet

    Hi Patrick,

If you can connect to public networks correctly, I think that this problem is related to your router at home. So I would recommend updating the firmware on your router. You can get it on the page of manufactured goods.

Also try to disable WLAN encryption and MAC address filtering.

By the way: you can access the Internet at home via a cable connection?

  • Satellite Pro L40 - wireless adapter does not work - Vista

I recently had some problems with my laptop.
A couple of weeks, I put in a disc of OpenSuse.
It's not stable anything, but locked me out of my original Vista operating system.

I reinstallled Vista Home Basic, but there are a few problems.
Mainly, my wireless adapter does not work.

When I flip the button to turn it on nothing happens and it is not recognized in Windows.
I installed Atheros Driver, but still nothing happens, light is not yet.

    Any advice?

    Hello

First check the device-> network adapters area manager
You see the WLan card? Or the unknown device appears?

If there is an unknown device, then the WLan driver has not been installed correctly or you tried to install a driver badly these two options are possible.

Remember that your wireless network card? Maybe it was a Realtek WLan card?

If it's a Realtek WLan card, try the WLan driver from the Realtek website and look for 802.11 g (RTL8187B) chip or you will simply check the page of the European driver Toshiba too the Realtek WLan driver also appeared on the Toshiba page

  • Satellite Pro L500 - wireless button does not work

I have problem with my wireless switch. Take a look at this [photo: http://bildr.no/view/591716]. It is said "bryterstatus: pa ' which is translated (badly) to" change status: on»

Although, when I press Fn + F8, nothing happens. All the other 'random' shortcuts button + FN keyboard works well. In other words, I can not connect to my wireless. I know it works because I can connect with my iPhone. There is also nothing wrong with the connection, I tried Michael / active on and outside. Tried to restart my laptop. I even downloaded the new drivers. Nothing seems to work. How can I activate the switch?

    Best regards
    Miguel Rodrigues

    Hello Miguel

Your laptop factory settings or you changed something?
Have you installed the own operating system or laptop has always original operating system preinstalled?
Wireless network adapter installed and listed correctly in the Device Manager?

Use of WLAN is so simple, and by default, it should work correctly. The same principle is on all laptops from Toshiba even. When you want to use the WLAN you move WLAN switch in position ONE and use the FN + F8 key combination to activate the wireless network card. All that s.

What you can try is to reinstall the additional package of value?

  • Data satellite Pro 6100 wireless switch does not

I just rebuilt my 6100 with xp professional, but now will not turn my switch wireless on! Which means that I can not get the Wi - Fi connection and I can't install the bluetooth drivers... anyone have any ideas?

    Hello

What switch do you mean? Do you mean the switch on the side of the laptop or the FN F8 key combination?
Usually after the operating system installation, you will need to install the WLan card driver and the FN keys to use the FN combination.
Check Device Manager if the wireless network card is installed correctly.
If you need drivers Toshiba then please visit the Toshiba driver page.
