Satellite Pro L300 - XP runs slowly

Satellite Pro L300 PSLB9E - Windows XP
Works slow intermittently, but shows inactive in the Task Manager. Disable anti virus etc, but always slowly works intermittently.

Can anyone offer advice please?

Hey mate,

First I must say that it is really hard to say why your laptop is running slowly. There are several reasons for this problem, but it would be interesting to know if you have installed the operating system preinstalled by Toshiba or did you install XP yourself using a disc of Microsoft? In this case, you should try this again with the Toshiba recovery disc. It contains a picture of the factory settings and so, your laptop should work correctly.

In addition, I would recommend to defragment the HARD disk, disable some services and startup programs that you don't need and you try a good antivirus like AntiVir. After that, clean you the registry with CCleaner.

Good luck!

    Hi all

I have a Satellite Pro L300 1AI running Windows Vista the computer starts and works fine but the backlight on the screen doesn't seem to work.

Y at - it none of the Vista settings that can affect this (other than the Fn key command on the keyboard and settings) in Control Panel? Strangely, it seems to have happened since I installed Skype but I don't see how this could possibly affect it.

    Any help is much appreciated...

    Hello

What s wrong exactly? Brightness screen laptop s is too low?
Everything you see on the screen as behind a thick fog?

Well, usually the FL Inverter control the backlight of the screen and if the FL inverter starts to malfunction, so you would get the problem like this.

There is no alternative to replace this inverter FL.
It s a small part behind the frame of the screen I think that it s a job for a technician in ASP.

  • Need driver SATA XP for Satellite Pro L300

    Hello

    I have a Satellite Pro L300 Vista.
If I have problems of major incompatibility with Vista I can swap the readers so I want to set up a second hard drive running on XP Pro.

When I try to set up the XP he sees not the SATA hard drive. I know that it's because XP does not contain the SATA drivers. Couple of questions

    (1) I saw a comment that recommendsto change the BIOS for SATA setting to "Compatibility" and this should work. I tried this but did not find it worked - everyone find it works?

    (2) where can I find the XP SATA driver? I crossed the XP drivers for Satellite Pro L300 Toshiba's web site, but could not see any SATA driver.

    Thank you

    Hello

    As to the question;

    (1) some notebook models containing this function in the BIOS and some don t BIOS that SATA option. If the BIOS has this option, you should be able to put AHCI Compatible mode. Then a SATA driver won't be necessary but also your SATA function would be disabled and HARD drive might work more slowly. So I recommend to set to AHCI, and then reinstall the SATA driver.

    (2) the SATA driver is part of the Intel Matrix Storage Manger. You can include the SATA drivers using nLite software. The necessary files of the SATA driver can be downloaded from Intel here page:

  • Satellite Pro L300 - USB card reader does not support the 64 GB

HI I have a Satellite Pro L300 under Win XP that I want to attach a USB card reader. I find that I can not read the 64 GB cards. The error is that the card is not formatted. All other cards read correctly. I can place this card reader in my desktop running Win 10 and it works correctly and reads the 64 GB cards. This seems to indicate that the USB card reader works properly, and perhaps that the problem lies in the USB on the Toshiba drivers. Has anyone else had this problem and found a fix for this. I've just updated the BIOS but no improvement. Thank you

    Hello

I think it might be related to high temperatures.

Have you noticed a hot air coming from vents?

Usually the laptop stops automatically to avoid that the pieces of equipment against damage.

So you need to check if the vents are clogged with dust and debris in most cases you can remove it using a jet of compressed air.

  • Re: Satellite Pro L300 - screen resolution maximum?

I just bought an external monitor for my L300. The screen resolution is 1920 x 1080, but the maximum available on my L300 is 1280 x 800. The utility Service Station tells me that all my drivers are up to date - is there a way I can increase the graphics resolution? Any suggestions much appreciated!

    Details: Running Windows 7 Pro SP1 on a satellite Pro L300 PSLB9A - 02K 002

    Hi PeterSouthon,

Need to unlock the other screen resolutions. Simply uncheck the option Hide modes that this monitor cannot display as you can see on [THIS | http://blog.wildvista.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Lightroom_hide_modes-340x400.png] photo.

After unchecking this box, you should be able to use the native screen resolution of your external display.

    Hi all

I have a Toshiba laptop Satellite Pro L300 Vista.

The customer earned him in because when it starts it goes to home Toshiba screen then goes to a black screen with cursor flashing at the top left. I connected external monitor with the same result. Swapped RAM as well.

Have run Memtest (spent), Seagate HDD long test (past), Ultimate boot CD and Winternals without success.
    * F8 does not work * and no more than the resumption of the plant.

Can enter the BIOS F2 and F12 no problems and the HARD drive is listed.

I reinstalled Vista on CD and on reboot it goes back to blinking cursor. I tried booting from the Vista CD repair and system restore. FixBoot commands and FixMbr prompt as well as with the same result.
I feel that it may be a corrupt CMOS sensor? It's like the OS installs correctly, but the computer loses his memory on reboot where the operating system?

Is the battery CMOS easily accessible and removable on this model?

Has anyone experienced these symptoms? Is - fixable at lower cost?

    Hello

If you have clients, I guess you're a technician and hope you have a few pieces of equipment in your store.
Have you tried to set the BIOS to default settings and check again?
If possible try to exchange the HARD drive and test the functionality again.
You can use laptop with Linux live CD (HARD drive not required)?

To be honest that I think n problem t is ORGANIC and, in my opinion, the exchange of the CMOS battery is not necessary.

Please test it with the new HARD drive and post comments.

  • Satellite Pro L300 does not illuminate

Hi all, I'm new to this forum.

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 and I've had it for about 2 years.
But yesterday I closed the laptop as usual. But later I went back to it and tried to turn it on. But it does not work. Instead, when I press the power button the LED next to the battery symbol flashes orange/orange 6 times and then turns off.

Can someone tell me what it is? I tried to let it load, but that has not worked. The amber light is the only light that flashes. It does not recognize that I plugged in the charger and I don't think that the battery was flat. So I'm angry and helpless right now.

    Can someone help me please?

    See you soon.

    Hello

    There are several indicators;
DC, while running, the main battery, LED HDD/ODD.
So I guess the power LED flashes in orange. Right?
This means that something was wrong on the motherboard.
    Maybe power supply electronic malfunctions

In this case, there is no much to do only mobo replacement could help to...

  • BSOD STOP 0 x 00008086 on Satellite Pro L300 - 1 K PSLB9E

My son came back from uni with his laptop which, to quote ' is knacked - no idea what the problem - been like that for weeks...» »

At startup, it goes to the green bar of process, then goes off, then comes up with the BSOD - technical details: Stop:

(I would provide more information, if I could, but can't until I can start to check specifications)

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

BSOD can be caused by a hardware or software problem.
First of all, you should check if it s not software related issue.
In such cases, it of needed to reinstall the Windows operating system.
Usually the new OS installed should not cause any BSOD!

If the Toshiba Recovery disk does not help you, then you should start to investigate
It may be a cause of modules defective memory BSOD issue very often.

However, if you have no knowledge about computers, then you should ask a technician to downtown to control parts.

  • Satellite Pro L300-291 - Ok on AC, but fails on DC

Does not work on DC. Battery is good appearently (both Win7 and HMONITOR reported as 100% - said HMONITOR there 17% wear, which is consistent with the age) works OK on AC, but do not start or run on DC and 'die' if connector ca pulled.

Win7 detects if the battery is removed and he is happy when he is handed over.
Panel lights are compatible with a battery in good condition - without blinking.

This happened after that I put fully powered - off normally let it sleep.

  • Satellite Pro L300 - second defective memory Slot?

Hi, I'm trying to install 4 GB of memory in a laptop Satellite Pro L300. This kind of thing, I did a thousand times before.

However, every time I install a module of memory in the second memory slot, the laptop will be a blue screen when windows is loaded. Even running memtest (via bootable cd) will result in a block, so it is not for lack of Windows.

I have the latest version of the BIOS installed (1.50)

Each module of memory works perfectly in the main location on its own.

With the help of a single module of memory in the memory secondary slot (even the original 1 GB module) translates the laptop does not even start.

Is this a known issue? Or is it just a second faulty slot?

    Thank you very much!

Maybe it's a non compatible memory module.

What model of laptop you have exactly (L300-xxx)?
    What extra RAM you bought?
    Have you checked the compatibility?

To be honest on this forum you will find many forums where people have described the same problem after upgrade. Most of these problems described was linked to the use of markets and not compatible good RAM modules.

  • BSOD on Satellite Pro L300

    Hello world

I've been using my * 28W Satellite Pro L300 * since 2 years now, and since the last summer he ain't no fun.

The laptop suffers * BSOD * one after one, making the job impossible. BlueScreenView, it is especially halmacpi.dll who is responsible, and the error code is * 0 x 124 *, which is for material that I know.

I've tried everything described on various forums, including virus and rootkit search, updated all drivers and BIOS, checked the base with SpeedFan temperature - everything seems OK, but always reappears the BSOD. I have nothing overclocked, running Windows 7 32 bit with all latest updates.

There is no BSOD when booting in safe mode. If anyone has some thoughts on this, I'll be happy to see them!
