  • Satellite Pro L40 - after upgrade to Windows 7, the FN keys do not work

    Hello world

I have a Satellite Pro L40 PSL4BE and have just upgraded to Windows 7. Since the upgrade I can no longer use the function key and the top and down arrows to control the volume. Keys F6 F7 & still control the brightness so I don't know the function key still works.

Anyone know if it is a driver problem or nobody knows how to solve this problem?

    Thank you

    Drew.

    Hello

You need to install the package of value added for Satellite Pro L40. This package contains all the necessary drivers for the FN keys. Then please install or update VAP if you have already installed an earlier version.
Here you can download: http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Can you confirm that FN keys work with installed VAP?

  • Satellite Pro L40 - cannot install Windows XP

Material: Satellite Pro L40, HDD 80 GB, 1.5 GB of RAM

Software: Windows XP + SP2 install CD, floppy disk with AHCI HDD ICH8M_32bit drivers drivers created according to the instructions in "how to install Windows XP on a L40.pd"f of Toshiba (which is pretty outdated by the way!)

Problem: The start is fine, after pressing F6 quick to add drivers is very good, set up windows starts.
Then I get this message on the screen: insert the disc labeled "Intel Matrix Storage Manager" in the A: drive. Press ENTER when you are ready.
This is not mentioned in the installation instructions.

Well, I don't have a disc labeled like that. I only have the disk that I created according to the instructions in the PDF above.
It is already in the drive, so I press ENTER and nothing happens.

My only other option is to quit smoking. Tried to quit smoking and going through the whole process several times - always eventually return to this impasse.

    (sigh)

    Can anyone help? Please?

I think that you have made a mistake, because I never have problems to use the SATA drivers.
Have you tried to do the floppy drive with the drivers and where did you download the drivers? Maybe you should try to download again on the Toshiba site:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-online decision-making supported Downloads & => Download drivers

And have you tried to create your own with the drivers installation disk? You can do this with nLite for example. I prefer this because that is why I n t need an external floppy drive.
    It s worth a try! ;)

  • Satellite Pro L40 does not start after changing the BIOS settings

Changed some settings in the bios last night and now when I boot I get a screen black lights flash and hard drive lights up but nothing on the screen.

There is no password on the bios... How would a BIOS reset to normal?

I put a windows disc now, I hear the disc spin but nothing on the screen

(I think that I have come to the right place on the forum)

    It s a Toshiba Satellite Pro L40 model psl4be.

    Thank you

    > There was no bios password... How would a BIOS reset to normal?

You can set the default BIOS ONLY inside the BIOS access BIOS by pressing F2 or at the beginning of the initialization of the order

But I doubt that this problem is related to the BIOS.
Maybe it s just a simple bad luck that this problem happened exactly after change something in the BIOS.

Try connecting an external monitor and check if you can see something on the 2nd screen.

  • Satellite Pro 4320: cannot use PCMCIA card after update BIOS 2.70

    Hello!

I'm using the Toshiba Satellite Pro 4320 (SP 4320). With the very old BIOS (first) version 1.0, the system has worked well on LINUX (Ubuntu) and Windows XP. So I found the update of the BIOS (latest version on the toshiba Web site). I did update the BIOS version 1.0 BIOS version 2.7.

Now, I can't use any PCMCIA card.
Everything works fine, but I can't use two PCMCIA slots.
The cards will be recognized, but the system says that there is a resource conflict.
(WLAN/WiFi adapter) PCMCIA cards worked very well with the old BIOS version 1.0, but now it does not work.

Windows XP says: 'conflict resource' and Ubuntu/Linux said after typing dmesg: "pccard gives wrong answer, for example."

    Please, help me!

Someone got an older version of BIOS?
My idea is to 'downgrade' the BIOS BIOS version 1.0 or version 1.x.

I have to downgrade the BIOS to at least 2. 6.

    Bye,.
    Martin

Have you tried installing WXP again using Toshiba Recovery CD?
I mean it's so old model of laptop and I can't imagine that Toshiba will offer this update of the BIOS so long if there is a serious problem with it.

  • Satellite Pro L300 - cannot use the 4 GB memory full

My laptop is Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 model: PSLBDE-003005AR

I upgrade my memory to 4 GB using 2x2gb PC2-5300 667 Mhz memory. When I installed the memory and I turn on my laptop the installation always pop up. When I removed the 2 GB of memory to do only 2 GB I spend on my laptop and it works.

I am using windows Vista premium 32-bit edition. I wonder why I do not work with 4 GB of memory. I installed the memory correctly, but it does not work to 4 GB.

    > Laptop is a Satellite Pro L300 PSLB1A - 01 L 019. Lists of the Toshiba Site the maximum memory 2 GB spec however sheets provided with the laptop shows a maximum of 4 GB of RAM.

    This chipset uses this device?
There are different L300 with different chipsets and different hardware components.
Some L300 would be able to support 4 GB and some are limited to 2 GB of RAM.

So if Toshiba says 2 GB are max so it's good and you will not be able to use 4 GB of RAM.

    Welcome them

  • Re: Satellite Pro A120: cannot select an option on the recovery disk

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A120, which has recently been faced with the "alert: System protection failure! "password:" problem that it turned up on some BIOS password unknown on its own in the middle of normal operation.

I got that fixed local Toshiba ASP.
But now, when I was about to reinstall the Windows cos she had slow, the possibility that the recovery media normally give to just format the first partition become invalid.

In the settings dialog box, the option is always there but it cannot be selected by clicking on it (from the color of the background showing this option not valid currently)... which means that the only selection (selected by default) is format all of the 38 GB... I don't want to do.

Someone knows what is wrong and how can I solve this problem.

I assume that you are using Windows XP and the restore CD also contains the XP operating system.
It s also interesting if this option has worked in the past?  :|

However, it s really mysterious that the solution cannot be executed and unfortunately I do not know why it happened

In the worst case, you'll have to back up data from the HARD drive and format the whole HARD drive :(

  • Satellite 2450-201: cannot use TV option after the new installation of the OS

    Hello

    I have a laptop toshiba satellite 2450-201.
I've always had the TV OUT works well with my TV, use the right cable SVIDEO.
I was able to watch divx movies in my TV using my computer.

I had to format the laptop and installed windows XP again.
After that, I can't use more TV-OUT option, so that the image of the laptop could be seen on television, I've always had.
After that I updated display drivers, but the problem remains.

    Can someone help me?
    Thank you

    Hello

How do you reinstall the operating system? Have you used the recovery CD?
Usually after the reinstallation of the operating system from the recovery CD, everything should work properly.
It is important that you can switch to the TV. In this case, you can use FN + F5.
If it's not working so I guess that for display devices hotkey utility works or was not installed. Well, the alternative is to pass on the TV via the graphic properties. The TV option, you should find somewhere in the advanced options.

However, check it and check if you have installed all the drivers.

  • Special characters in the password

Hi, I have chosen a password with caracter special: now @!
and then, it is impossible to type the character @, so I can't start my machine!
    What can I do?

    Hello
Sorry, but now you have a big problem. For the BIOS password or supervisor password, it should be used only the following characters: a... z, a.. Z and 0... 9 paper

Choice of some special characters will cause that the laptop not boot not. In this case, contact your authorized Toshiba Service Provider because the password must be deleted and there is no way you can do it yourself.

What version of Oracle are you using? Before 11 g I think only allowed special characters were '_', ' $' and ' # '.

And 11 g, you need to put the password in quotation marks and must not use comma, backslash or double quote.

    Hello

Have you checked the Skype settings?

You can use the webcam using the preinstalled software webcam?

  • Satellite Pro U200: Cannot use TABLET TACTILE power utility

    Hi guys, help me please.

My computer gives me this error message "'THotKey' recovery failed. "Error code: 0 x 00031402, 0x00000002" and with it, I can't use my Fn key and when I try to open the folder of toshiba, it gives me the same message.

    Could you please help.

    Thank you

    Maiko

    Hello Maiko

It will be interesting to know since when this error occurs. Try to roll back OS to an earlier time using System Restore tool. Maybe after that that the problem will be solved. If this isn't the case, please post again.

One last thing: you can also try to install common modules again. You can find it on the download page of Toshiba.

    Hello

Have you seen yellow errors such as exclamation points in Device Manager?
If not, in this case it of not necessary to install all the drivers.
Moreover, the operating system automatically recognizes the USB ports.

But what USB device doesn't work? As far as I know if this external device needs more energy than the 500mA so it is possible that the operating system can not recognize this device.
In this case you need an external power supply for this part or you try to use the USB hub.

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro L300 - cannot use Intel ProSet WLan tool with Win XP

Hello! I have the same problem. I installed a XP SP3 and I can't use the * Fn + F8 * hotkey to activate the WLAN function on or off. Other Fn keys work correctly. The WiFi network also works, but it can be used by the built-in Windows. Intel ProSet or Atheros programs do not work. It seems "no wlan driver installed. The card is a Realtek 8187 B, downloaded the driver on Toshiba support original site. What can I do?

    > WLan also works, but it can be used by the built-in Windows. Intel ProSet or Atheros programs do not work
If the WiFi works fine using the windows zero configuration then the WLan adapter is enabled and don t get the FN + F8.

The fact is that your 3rd party WLan configuration tool doesn t work because your wireless network card is * Realtek! *

Intel ProSet ONLY works with Intel WLan card and the Atheros Wlan configuration tool can be used ONLY if your have an Atheros Wlan card.

You have Realtek so use windows own zero configuration WLan!
