Satellite Pro L40 - how to enable the WLan using ConfigFree
Can you help me?
My English is bad I do not end.
The question is:
My computer is a Toshiba Satellite Pro L40 and I use the ConfigFree for the wireless, but it seems that the WiFi network is disabled.
I want to know what's wrong
Your wireless network card is recognized correctly in the Device Manager, or you may notice a yellow exclamation?
Her check first because otherwise, you can get the WLAN to work.
In addition, you can activate WLAN with the material on the laptop switch which must be set on and the FN + F8 key combination.
After this Free Config should find your WLAN router if you are in the range of that.
I'm a total beginner, and my problem is I can get a connection without wire only when I'm really close to my BT hub.
My son has a laptop and gets a good connection anywhere in the House and even outside.
He thinks I have a dodgy wireless adapter, this could be the problem?
Can I fix it myself?
Maybe download a new driver?
Any suggestions would be much apreciated.

I mean that there is no detail about your problem
You should first check if the laptop supports the wireless network card.
This can be done in the Device Manager.
Usually the WLan card must appear in Manager devices-> network adapters.
If it s are not it is that the WLan card is not built in or the driver WLan is not installed. If the WLan driver is not installed then you should see yellow exclamation (or unknown device).
But if the wireless network adapter is listed correctly then you should check if the WLan notebooks have been enabled. In order to activate the WLan you have to press FN + F8 and you put the switch on IT until the small LED flash.
Finally, to configure the WiFi connection (right name WLan, encryption settings, etc...)
I have a Toshiba Satellite 3000 514 and a WLan Mini - PCI Intel Centrino card. (Provided? ? ® PRO/Wireless 2200BG) running win - XP and Ubuntu.
Is there a solution to work around the problem, the wlan software wants to push me a hardware button to turn on wireless lan, that my laptop is enough?
In a German forum, that someone talked to solve the problem by using the 'easy', a program I already downloaded from Toshiba.
But you can only choose the .exe files to be connected to a button. Is there a .exe file to make the software think that I pushed that no wlan-hardwarebutton existion?
* sigh * Help!
Thanks in advance. Sorry for my bad English.
delicate sounds. I have no software solution for you, but I have another solution for you.
Since you're a German guy, you can check/read this:
It s a card atheros as I have in my Tecra 9100. So, I had a lot of problems with the card intel since they require a full work centrino
platform to work and so most of these cards are 'material' switch (in your case a button) to work.
With the card atheros Don t you have these problems with switch/button since they work at all times without the need for switches or buttons.
The downside is that you can't turn off the map for energy saving purposes.
So I hope that I could help you. Would appreciate some comments. :)
I recently acquired this laptop and I installed win7 64-bit teacher. The first problem was that the wireless card has not been installed, but I go to the Toshiba website and download the new one, next to this i can not activate the map with the fn + f8 key, it's the only way to activate the card.
I already downloaded some drivers and utilities and I can not activate the card, the shortcut key does not work and there is not another switch, software does not work either
Any help will be welcome
Hmm. Win 7 drivers are not yet out, but I found some beta readers on the Toshiba page we:
Maybe you will find some Win 7 drivers for series L500/505
Otherwise I would recommend you to check if you can activate the WLan in Device Manager-> properties-> Advanced tab Wlan card
There are a few additional options, that maybe the WiFi we / off would be there also.
I have somehow lost the connection to the touchpad mouse. How can I activate it again by using the keyboard (I don't have an external mouse)?
You can enable or disable the touchpad with FN + F9.
But normally, you can also find this information in your user manual.
My wife has a virus on his laptop computer. I think that it is the antivirus 2010. I can't access all the programs, and the recovery disk reads or that the virus has stopped working also the cd player. How can I re format the hard drive?
Thanks in advance
How have you used the Toshiba Recovery disk?
I doubt that the virus has stopped working CD player. Maybe in Windows but if you use the Toshiba Recovery disk you will need to boot from the disc.
So I put the disk in the CD/DVD drive and boot from this drive. Some files are loaded and you get the recovery disk screen where you can start this procedure. You must follow the instructions on the screen and a few clicks are needed to complete the installation of recovery. :)
I installed the driver for Lucent Wireless LAN (184.108.40.206) for this laptop that has W2K.
However, I can't control it! I also installed a wireless keyboard shortcut, but there are no instructions on it.
This laptop was initially W98SE top, and it's a fight to get this working.
The FN keys are controlled by common Modules.
Please install common Modules to obtain the essential work of the FN.
In addition, you need to install Wireless Hotkey
In addition, there are two different drivers WLan for Portege W2k. Driver Wlan Cisco and Lucent Technologies Wlan driver.
Do not forget that you are using the correct driver.
I replaced a hard drive of mine (L500 PSLS0A - 08 p 002) and I installed Windows7 64 bit on it.
I used to market its WIFI by pressing the FN + F8 keys.
But now I can't on it using the method.
I downloaded its end drivers.
In reality its all the function keys do not work.
Please let me know how to enable the WLAN and function keys.
You have installed Windows 7 Toshiba or normal Microsoft disk recovery disk?
The FN keys to install Toshiba Value added Package, and Flash Cards Support utility. These two tools can be downloaded on the official page of Toshiba.

> Satellite Pro L40 - how to make a dual boot with two recovery disks?
Short answer: you can't do that. Maybe if you have two hard disks (I tried didn't) but as much as I know your SP L40 has only one.
Ask this smart guy, how to do this. Maybe it's a useful tip.

That's no problem because you can order a new Toshiba recovery disc directly but I m not 100% sure if it is possible for the older by Satellite Pro L40. Just check out the recovery shop:
If you can t find, ask the ASP in your country. Guys can order such a disc.

I'm trying to update my BIOS version 2.00 - WIN for Satellite Pro L40 PSL4BE.
My OS is Vista 64 bit.
I downloaded the file and run the .exe but nothing happens.
I also tried to copy the files on a diskette and start with a floppy disk, however, I get an error message saying to remove the diskette in the drive on startup. Any help please?
First update the BIOS for Satellite Pro L40 is based on Windows it of possible to update in DOS mode.
Also, I checked the Web from Toshiba site and I can only find a BIOS for Windows XP and Windows Vista 32-bit.
It seems that the update of the BIOS is not supported for Vista 64-bit.
If you want to update, you need to change to 32 bit Vista or XP. Then you can update the BIOS.
Don t forget this version 2.00 - WIN is for Vista 32 bit and 5.50 - WIN XP.
I have a Satellite Pro A200 and I replaced the card with an Intel 5100 (512AN_MMW) wireless and it detects OK and installs the drivers etc, but it does not work because he says that the switch is turned off on the front of the laptop. The switch is on I also tried pressing fn + f8, but it still does not work.
The laptop is running Windows 7 64 bit
What card WLAN have you had before and do the work of a former?
I think that it of difficult to say why it doesn t work but maybe this card is not compatible.
By the way: do other FN keys FN + F8 work or simply not?
