Satellite Pro L630-12: the Ethernet controller v v. WLAN network card
My Satellite Pro L630-12F has (A) an Atheros AR8151 PCI - E Gigabit Ethernet Controller, and (B) Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter.
Toshiba continues regularly informing me that a Wireless Lan Driver update was released, which I need to install.
First question: is Wireless LAN Ethernet controller driver or the network card?
I have check the versions on my machine of both (A) and (B) with the PC diagnostic tool and find that (B) is the latest version (220.127.116.11) and (A) is a very old version (18.104.22.168). I download the latest version (22.214.171.1246.0) of "Atheros Wireless LAN Adapter" for my machine from the Wireless LAN Driver download page (Windows 7 (64)) and run the file. But, everywhere I look, my machine continues to say that the version of (A) is (126.96.36.199).
Second question: am I update the Ethernet Atheros controller when I download and run the Atheros Wireless LAN Adapter?
If Yes, then why doesn't it show the latest version information?
Sorry for the basic questions, but I found no explanations in various forums on the difference between 'ethernet controller', 'network card' and 'Wireless LAN' after searching several times. I'm afraid that Toshiba keeps informing me that I don't have the latest version of the wireless LAN driver despite my efforts to follow their instructions.
> First question: is Wireless LAN Ethernet controller driver or the network card?
Ethernet controller can be both; WLan and LAN in your case I guess that WLan is Ethernet controller, it would seem if the WLan driver is not installed
Your laptop L630-12F seems to bear card Broadcom BCM94313 WLan and the driver can be found here:
> Am updated the Ethernet Atheros controller when I download and run the Atheros Wireless LAN Adapter?
This is driver LAN!
I'm no expert, but I was hoping that someone could tell me how to get rid of / fix an error message thatI do me whenever I put on. The unhandled exception, said "access to PathC:\ProgrammeData\ToshibaEurope|. Registration\se fittings xml is denied. "
I had a Trojan horse affecting this laptop two weeks ago and he (or hidden) wiping most of the material I had on this machine.
Thanks I've got it running again, but this unhandled exception appears every time so I have to type Quit or he keeps coming back.
I have no idea how to fix this problem. I checked everything and so has my son, remotely and this morning I ran MalwareBytes and allowed the two files, but I still get the message unhandled exception.
It's annoying because I don't know if I need to have access to this road. If someone can tell me how do I cure this I would be grateful, but please keep in mind, I'm just a user with limited experience. It's a Satellite Pro L630-L14 and I got just TWO MONTHS! stevmk2
I think the problem is the Trojan horse you had. It was probably something has changed on the access to the files/folders. If you can t remove the Trojan with Antivirus software, you must reinstall the whole operating system. Therefore, you can use the recovery disk as described here:
> I got it just TWO MONTHS!
Who makes no difference, how is the laptop. This viral infection can happen after a few days and it s depending on your antivirus software you use, but it has absolutely nothing to do with the brand of laptop.
As Gipsyman pointed out quite rightly, I posted this twice, but since the first post, I found the driver for the mass storage device but did not find any drivers listed for for XP pro Ethernet controller, so no solution I ask the question again and please give people a chance to respond this time before closing the thread!
No one knows how this laptop ethernet card. I'm looking for a driver for him so that it will work with Windows XP Home edition. Those listed on this site offer unique Vista based ones.
I m wrong, but to my knowledge, the Satellite Pro A100 PSAAPE uses a chipset Intel Ekron-R (82562GZ) LAN.
In this case you should look for in the Intel page for compatible drivers ;)
The system has Windows 7 pre-installed and has Windows 7 recovery DVD.
I searched online and found that some packages also include Windows XP Professional as a downgrade.
This was not included in my package, I received.
I managed to get most of the drivers for XP, including graphics and sound card.
But at the present time, I have not been able to locate the driver for the wireless card.
Can anyone help?
Thank you very much... Mark
I think that you should look for the Toshiba WLAN drivers WLAN Portal:
Normally you will find all the drivers for wireless network cards in all laptops Toshiba so it s worth a try! ;)
Moreover, what WLAN card you have exactly?
I have a Satellite Pro L630-167, which is connected to my network works.
I have this problem where the screen stays just on the Please wait screen, it seems that the laptop is that connects something, but not really do anything.
However if I had to start the computer in safe mode with network it works fine.
I really need some help here.
Have you noticed the problem even if the laptop is not connected to the network and if you want to load your user profile on Windows 7?
If this isn't the case, then I guess that it has something to do with the network, and in this case, I recommend asking the network administrator for a few suggestions.
Can someone please help with my laptop? Here's my laptop specs:
Model: Toshiba Satellite C660-117
Part number: PSCOLE-00Y00JEN
Serial number: XA458343K
I have just rewiped my laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate. I use the laptop on a wireless connection. In Device Manager, I have an exclamation mark next to the Ethernet controller. This prevents me from going online.
Can someone direct me please the link to download some driver I need?
Thank you much much in advance.
Controller driver Ethernet can be both: WLAN or LAN card. All the drivers and tools can be downloaded from the official website of Toshiba:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers
You have installed Windows 7 Ultimate, but may I ask why you haven t used the Toshiba with Windows 7 Home Premium recovery disc? On this disc are all the drivers and tools are installed because it s a picture of factory for you don t have stress with driver and installation tool.
I reinstalled Win Xp Prof on my satellite A100 - 773 (PSAA9E) and have a problem with the Ethernet controller. In Device Manager, the controller is marked with a yellow '?'.
I use this driver http://de.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/download_driver_details.jsp?service=DE&selCategory = 2 & selFamily = 2 & selSeries = 153 & selProduct = 624 & selSho rtMod = 444 & language = 17 & selOS = 10 & selType = all & yearupl = DST & monthupload = & dayupload = & useDate = null & mode = all Machines & search = & action = search & macId = & country = 12 & electedLanguage s = 17 & type = all & page = 2 & ID = 55434 & DISO = 1 0 & driverLanguage = 42
Install it on the Device Manager and right click on ethernetcontroller - installation driver. This is the message that no driver is found (in the right! folder) nothing can be installed...
I also remove ethernet controller, so that windows automatic reseacht for this, but nothing works.
I don't know what I can do
PS: Chipset utilities are installed
I can post a link where you can download the driver but I put t know what driver is missing now. Do you mean the WLAN or LAN card? What is the device?
Please check the vendor and device ID to identify which device needs a driver. Go to Device Manager > right click on Ethernet controller > properties.
There you should find some information like PCI\VEN_xxxx & DEV_xxxx
With these codes you can look here to identify the device: http://www.pcidatabase.com/
After this verification, the page of Toshiba to download a driver.
Hello, I was recently forced to reformat my Satellite A105-s4064 due to some virus problems, and now when I look at my device manager my Ethernet controller is not installed.
I checked the main site and they don't have an Ethernet controller I've ever seen.
I can just be giving on it or research in the field of evil, but anyone know where I could find the Ethernet Controller driver for my laptop?
First of all, it would be interesting to know which driver LAN do you need? XP or Vista
Second, the A105 laptop is an American series. I know that because of the last digit in the model number. 5 at the end means that it is a series that was designed for the American market and you need to find the drivers on the Web from Toshiba site we!
However, if I understand correctly, you have already activated the Device Manager and the network card is not in the network adapters. There is an unknown device. Am I wrong?
Often the LAN chip must come from Realtek. Then maybe you should try to download the driver directly from the Realtek page.
Check it out
Sorry for my bad English, I'm from the Russia.
A few days ago, I bought Satellite L30 - 10 X with W Vista on board. In my opinion, that this OS does ' t very good on this computer, so I install W XP.
I have some problems with drivers. At first, I don't know which model I have: PSL30 or PSL33? I have download all the drivers for the two models. But after installation, computer doen't find the drivers for the Ethernet controller and PCI device...
Satellite L30-10 X belongs to the series of PSL33E. This number located on the label on the bottom of the device!
You must choose this number in the form of driver download for XP compatible drivers.
I put t know why you are not able to install the LAN driver. I have the same laptop with Vista and I've install the XP and all the drivers will work perfectly.
I assume that you have installed the drivers in the wrong order. Please take look in the Toshiba installation instructions txt file. In this order, install the driver! This is important.
I think that you should install XP again to ensure that the registry clean, then download and install the XP drivers compatible as mentioned in the installation instructions file.
I'm trying to connect my laptop to my TV. The specifications are:
Laptop: Toshiba Satellite Pro L630 - 134.
TV: Toshiba Regza CT-42RL853.
I am trying to achieve connectivity via HDMI. Once I have connected the TV to the laptop, I try to switch the display. However, the laptop does not see the TV (made to each function F5 or via Control Panel). The other view is not be found even when I select detect.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Things I've tried:
Looked in the BIOS but no parameters to allow another external screen.
Tried to look in the settings of the TV to see if there are access port to allow/disallow settings but nothing appears.
Shot to the top of Toshiba Media Controller on laptop. He seems to see the tv (screen name on the right side). However no image displayed on the tv.
Someone else has solved this problem?
Thanks in advance.
To be honest after reading your ad, I can't say with certainty what can be the problem. The fact is that, in most cases, it takes work and if there is not a small problem.
In the past, I have connected several laptops from Toshiba on my BRAVIA LCD TV and everything went well every time. On television, you must enable HDMI port you use. If you have more HDMI ports do not forget the right turned to television.
On the other hand, if your TV is recognized by your laptop when you press FN + F5, you should see several options there. You see it or just one option (LCD)?
Are you using the original pre-installed OS that you got with your laptop (original drivers)?
Have you tried using different HDMI cables?
I got this Satellite M55 quite a few years and until now it works really not too bad for me apart from a few minor errors here and there...
Just recently, I sometimes have some hard to connect to wireless internet.
It could always be connected only after hitting plugged in at least 2 or 3 times, and the connection is not persistent in time.
When I look on the computer management, it seems the Ethernet controller and PCI Modem are missing. I tried to search and re - install drivers associated with wireless local area network and so forth, but stops the error.
This advice would be really appreciated!
Thank you in advance.

Where is - it has you fact check for drivers? Normally, you will get all the drivers on the Toshiba site:
http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com-online download-online portable => Satellite-online M55-S325
I searched this site and I founded all the drivers.
I have a portable Satellite 1900 305.
The ethernet controller driver is missing. I tried to locate the driver on Toshiba website, but this model number is not recognized. someone at - it ideas?
because you didn't search in the Archive :)
It has the same page of the driver, but you need to choose in the first window Archive
My laptop 2 months old, satellite pro L630-12F, running windows 7, just started to constantly read the hard drive in windows. The light is still on. When I try to do something, it takes forever-. for example, click on the start menu. Wait a minute, while the cirlce thing appears and the start menu.
If I do too much hard drive starts to make a ticking noise and possibly a BSOD appears and it restarts.
If I try to stop or restart it takes forever to do.
When I go into safe mode, it just does the same thing.
Any suggestions as to what is happening and how I can fix this problem?
At first I thought that the constantly HARD drive activity can be because of preinstalled McAffe and HDD scan but this info on ticking noise and possibly a BSOD is really strange and I'm afraid that there must be another reason m.
Have you noticed this behavior from the first day or later?
It will be interesting to know if the same behavior is with its own OS preinstalled. Can you install new OS by using recovery image and test it with the factory settings?
In the worst case I mean that the HARD disk must be exchanged.
I just reinstalled Vista (my records of repair so so borrowed a Vista DVD of lost friends). I have installled the LAN driver (here) and can connect to the internet fine (via cable in any case, as I have no wireless).
Anyway when I go into Device Manager, that the only problem seems to be that there are no installed driver for the ethernet controller, there is no information about drivers when I look in its properties and do not really know what I have to download. If it's something to do with the wireless, I looked at article in the knowledge base on how to determine which type you have and as I said, I can't find any info.
It is not a problem as such, but I want to just correct if possible.
Thanks fo all help.
I think he should install the WLAN driver for the laptop. I mean if you can browse the internet via an Ethernet cable, network adapter driver is installed and you are now the WLAN driver.
Then go to the Toshiba page and download the driver for your Satellite L300. The WLAN driver installation can be done in a few minutes, it's really easy.
