Satellite Pro M10 - location of the mini-pci slot?

Hello

I have a M10 Pro of the Satellite with a mini-PCI Intel Pro 2100. Now, I wanted to put in a new card, but I can't find the mini-pci slot? I opened all the way down, but there nothing. Where is it located and what is the best way to open the laptop? I guess a lot of screws must come out...

Hello

Well, as far as I know the mini-PCI card is under the keyboard. In this case, you will need to remove the unit covers. But if you open Notepad, you will lose the warranty.
In my opinion, you should contact the ASP for help and detailed descriptions.

Good bye

    Hi - I have a portable series of P10, PSP10E-0RCJM-EN.

It is initially provided without an internal WIFI card but a swith and LED indicator.

I hope to fit a suitable Mini PCI card.

I am likely to find that an antenna is already installed?

That more can someone guide me as to where is the slot mini pci and how to access it please?

I read the previous posts about the contacts of masking/insulation on the card wifi on this and other forums, so I'm ready for this problem when I get there.

I hope you can help, impatience of someone soon!

    Hello

The wireless network card is an option on this unit. It is possible to switch this unit with the WLan card. The WiFi antenna should already be included in the specifications.
The WLan pci slot, you will find at the bottom of the unit.
It s close to the slot of the modem.
However, I would recommend consultation with the user manual. There you should find more details.

  • Satellite Pro M10: image on the screen is very dark

I have a portable Satellite Pro M10, which has a black screen, i.e. the backlight does not work. There is an image on the screen, but it is very dark. When you connect an external monitor, I get a normal picture on this screen.

Information from other messages here, I conclude that there is a problem with the backlight of the lcd screen or the inverter. I checked all connections, but it does not solve the problem. If I bring the laptop to a service center how much it will cost about for repair? The thing is 2-3 years, so if it is very expensive I could better get a new laptop.

I'm sure I'll be able to change the inverter Board myself, but how am I going to be able to determine that the inverter is the problem? How to get a new inverter? Is anyone of you know the number of good product?

My Pro M10 itself has PS630E-G205Z-OF product number.

    Hello

I agree with Tobi. You sounds description as a faulty FL inverter.
This part is placed behind the LCD screen under the lid.
As mentioned this part isn t very expensive and you could order the partner of Toshiba service in your country. But be aware that if you have no experience of replacement if you ask technicians for assistance.

  • Satellite Pro M10 overheating and the fan runs loud

I have a Satellite Pro M10 and when it is the fan on the power grid comes shortly after the start and makes a horrible noise - this has only started happening recently. I tried spraying compressed air (dust) to the air outlet and still have the same problem.

Other postings say to clean the fan, but I don't know how to access it. I'm worried about overheating problems I work in Africa much of the time and the laptop is subject to hot temperatures.

    Hi Hannah,

The easy way to clear the dust and debris from the cooling system is to use a vacuum cleaner hose placed on the admission air grids that are usually in the bottom of the laptop (covered by a grid). For maximum effect, I usually place a rag around the pipe to maximize the flow of air through the fans.

This causes air suction through the radiator CPU the wrong way and ensures that all debris are not pulled into the heatsink, but are removed by fans. You can see a ball of down under the grates that you need to try to clear little by little.

This technique will not void your warranty since no disassembly of the unit is necessary.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite Pro A40: location of the CMOS battery?

is anyone the location of the cmos battery on the a40 sat pro that I need to change it.
The laptop is a few years old, so I hesitate to send to the dealer for him as will be fairly high costs!

    Thank you

I put t know exactly the place of the RTC battery, but you should see if you Remover keyboard and lid.
To remove the RTC battery you need to disconnect the cable from the connector PJ8490 on the system board RTC battery and then Peel the insulators and remove the RTC battery.

But note: When replacing the RTC battery, be sure to use genuine battery or spare batteries allowed by Toshiba. Battery wrong installation may cause a battery explosion, or other damage.

PS: Just for the record: the RTC battery recharge takes about 8 hours

  • Satellite Pro M10: Display of the strange problem

I have a M10 Pro of the Satellite with 14 inch display is 6 weeks out of warranty.

The other day, I got cold room and the display went funny - odd pixels, green and black with small points which then becomes more clear screen so that the entire screen is a mixture of points fluorescent which becomes white and then things come back.

Then, the cycle repeats itself after a few seconds.

I perform a restart and everything's going well for a while, and then it restarts. I move the laptop in a cold room and it's ok again. I can't understand that the issue occurs on Windows XP and SUSE 9.0 (although it just hangs). I have run SpyBot, have the latest virus checkers, the update of Windows (SP2) and NVidia drivers.

    Any ideas?

Seemed to have solved the problem by dismantling the machine, could not do not get all the way and completely remove the top from the bottom as there seems to be a hidden screw. Everything is fine now, could have been the fact that some of the screws were loose.

Also had a full SpyBot and Virus Check.

I also had to re - save under a different name, since it is "Specific country" even if I thought that I had, I now have three profiles - two I created recently, and one I could not remember the username for, would be really better if password request tells you the user name to an e-mail address it is registered. It's really hard to keep track of them so I have a lot of connections as a computer scientist. Really really annoying and stupid system.

  • HDD upgrade on Satellite Pro M10 - problem with the IDE connector

Hope someone can help me here.

I'm trying to adapt a 80 GB HDD to the M10 and I managed to get the Hong Kong HDD caddy, but no matter where I turn, I can not find the right IDE connector.
If anyone can give me a link to a vendor, I'd be really grateful. I had this project will for about 4 months now and she crawled to a halt.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I think that this Assembly to support Toshiba HDD (hard drive) (number P000370340) must be compatible for the HARD drive.

In addition, I think you need something like this:

  • Satellite T130-17F - upgrade to the Mini-PCI Wireless card

Card WiFi in Satellite T130-17F doesn't support the 802. 11A / 5 GHz. I would like to replace it with one that is supported. Is this possible? If so, are there any documents that show how do?

    Thanks in advance, Igor Bukanov

    Hi mate

Usually the laptop supports WLan miniPCI module. This means that usually the other WLan miniPCI cards should work, but I read also here in the forum that it is not always the case and sometimes other WLan miniPCI card would not me recognized correctly.

But why you try n t a simple solution like a USB WLan stick?
It is the simpler and in my opinion the best solution for you.
You will not need to disassemble the laptop. This means that there is no risk of damage and the warranty

That's why I recommend you try this solution.

  • Satellite Pro M10: What is the max possible CPU

What is the maximum possible processor to use in this laptop? Thank you!

The laptop has one of the following processors, which includes 64KB
    L1 cache and 1 MB cache L2:

Processor Intel Pentium M 1.3 GHz
    Processor Intel Pentium M 1.4GHz
    Processor Intel Pentium M 1.5GHz
Processor Intel Pentium M 1.6 GHz

Generally, it should be able to use one of the processors listed above. But I read in this forum that Toshiba does not support updates and so you could upgrade the processor only at your own risk!

  • Need help to install the new hard drive in Satellite Pro M10

    Hi all

My hard drive died in my M10 Pro Satellite so I decided to adapt to another.
It fits very well in the caddy, but just does not want to slot into place correctly as something seems to be stopped.
    The M10 only accepts a certain brand/model?
Also, nobody knows this as the largest capacity M10 will accept?
    Thank you very much.

    Concerning
    J

As much as I know should not be problem at all. Take the old and the new HARD drive and compare the connectors. I hope that they are the same. I can only imagine that the new HD is not placed correctly in the HARD drive bracket. Make sure that the new is placed as an old man after his retirement from the laptop.

As for max capacity of HARD drive, there is no precise information and we can only speculate on this. Try to use the search option on this forum. Maybe someone already talked to upgrade the HDD on Sam/Satellite Pro M10.

The fact is that Satellite Pro comes with 30, 40 and 60 GB hard drives. How many GB does your new HARD drive?

  • Satellite A100-028 - How to replace the mini-PCI WiFi card?

    Hello

I want to replace the Intel with a Module Atheros wireless card.
Unfortunately on the background there is no cover for the mini PCI Slot.
Where he is? I guess that they are under the top cover or under the keyboard.
Should I a short "How To" in this way:
Which screws I release that covers and so on are to be released.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Galdor,

It of not simple to change the W - Lan card.
The card ist under the keyboard and under the top cover.
You have to disassemble the entire and when you do that you lose your warranty.
I think it's the best for you to contakt a service point for this work.

  • Satellite Pro M10 Fn + F5 does not not after login?

Im hoping someone can help me. IM totally confused.
Im a projector off a Satellite Pro M10 running. The Fn + F5 works perfectly all the way up to the CTRL - ALT - DELETE prompt. Even at this stage, I can still Fn - F5 and look through the settings. As soon as I connect the FN - F5 does nothing? I deleted all monitors, reinstalled the video card with the latest driver and installed the key utility function of the device from the website?
I guess it must be something with the display settings once the user connects, but I can't get out? I tried to take the setting down to the basic 16-bit and 800 x 600, but it makes no difference?
Any help or pointers would be helpful?
    Thank you
    Mark

    Hello

Sorry, but tells you is a little confuse.
The FN + F5 combination allows to switch between display devices. You can choose an external monitor, TV etc.
If you want to use the FN keys, you need to install the driver Toshiba display Utility (change of display device) and change the Hotkey utilities for display devices.

These two applications are responsible of the correctly using the FN + F5 option.
The graphic display driver has nothing to do with the FN + F5 keys.

  • R100 mini PCI slot

Is it possible for me to access the connector MINI PCI on my Portege R100? If so, how is it accessible? I want to upgrade the wireless network card.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

I put t know exactly where is the MINI PCI slot. In my opinion, he may be somewhere under the keyboard. I don't really know if it's a good idea that makes you one. This is a very nice and in my opinion very sensitive unit.

In my opinion, this should be done by professionals. By the way your device supports wireless LAN / Wi - Fi Standard: 802. 11B and Wireless LAN / Wi - Fi Standard: 802. 11 b / g.

  • How to remove the password of BIOS on Satellite Pro M10

    Hi guys,.

I searched all over the web to find an answer, but has no success. So I really hope one of you can help out me.

I have a very old Toshiba Satellite Pro M10 with 512 MB in it. The laptop is protected by a BIOS password that I know. However, the problem is that I want to remove the password of BIOS completely. I know this isn't a big deal, but I find it annoying to type the BIOS password over and over again. Mostly because I am preparing this old lady for my oldest daughter. Furthermore, I just installed Windows 7 and it works well, but I have all the original software Toshiba, for example the HW configuration utility. I expect the download somewhere on the net, but unfortunately this is not as simple as that.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Thank you

    Jeroen

    Hey Buddy,

It is easy to remove the BIOS password. Follow the instructions posted by Al - eX.
As new password just enter anything and then the password is removed.

I m wondering that you have installed Windows 7 on Satellite Pro M10. It is a very old book, and in my opinion Windows XP would be the best choice.
In addition there are no downloads available for this model and Windows 7 on Toshiba page

  • Satellite Pro M10 displays the characters currupt at startup

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro M10 that collapsed. When the system boots, the Toshiba logo seems to have a few points here and there. When displaying messages on the screen during startup, the characters seem corropted. For example, the message "Insert system disk", I and T of the insertion of the word seems to be half upper ASCII characters. The system S is the "less than or equal to sign." and the k of the scratch disk is {.} I already did the following:

-tried to start with one of my two memory card and I tried the two memory cards.
    -swapped my memory card.
    -reloaded windows and Linux

I have dropped it once but worked OK for a month after I dropped it. I deleted the operating system, but now seems to have problems to load a CD operatig system (CD works OK). Anyone have an idea what is wrong?

    Thank you
    Peter Loo

    Hello

You suggested that the cell phone dropped twice.
Well, you can try to connect the external monitor to the laptop to see if it s a screen failure or malfunction of the graphics card.

You have problems with the installation of the OS? Maybe there's something wrong with the disk and the HARD disk. But maybe only loses connection is responsible for the problems. Check the pins.

It is possible that the screen and other devices was damage due to falling down.
