Satellite Pro M30 - how to remove dust from fan

I have a model satellite Pro M30 about 5 years.
It seems to run hot and the fan seems to work a lot in the background.

I was told to clean the dust around the fan, it's a big job.
According to me, that there are a lot of screws on the bottom.

Can help a whole based on do it myself

Hello

You do not need to disassemble the laptop.

You can remove the dust and debris using a jet of compressed air.
These aerosols can be purchased from the local computer or online dealers.

I do from time to time to make sure that my laptop would not overheat and guess what; It is useful!

Check it out.

Welcome them

I get a disk read error when I try to start my Sat Pro M30 running XP Pro, right after the In Touch with screen Toshiba.

Using the Revovery DVD that came with the computer when buying and the Advanced mode entry, I try to use the local Image file checking. It does not seem to find any Image file. Is it possible to recover or reconstruct the image file?

There is some data that I would recover from the HD, so I'll try to avoid reinstalling the system until I got the files.

Attempted to read the HD using a cabinette and a new NP running Vista, but it did not work. Is there a general problem reading a HD XP, Vista?

Suggestions how to do to retrieve the data would be very appreciated!

    Johan

cabinette? Do you mean 'hard drive USB cart?

To recover your data, you can connect the HARD drive using a USB adapter to another PC on XP or Vista. The drive should appear as a drive letter (for example, drive E :), and you will be able to copy the files.

When you say "but it did not work", what exactly was the problem?

  • Satellite Pro U400: How to remove folder HDD Recovery Vista running Win 8

    Hello!

I have updated my Windows Vista to Windows 8 via the Microsoft upgrade offer. Toshiba does not support the upgrade of the Satellite PRO U400 of Win8, but it works so far, only a few features are missing...

In this HARD drive recovery process, Vista folder remained on my partition E: (containing about 5 GB of files dated 2008...).

I HAVE (even 2 sets of) recovery DVD for Vista.
The infrastructure of original HDDRecory for Vista on the laptop ran defective, already long ago for some reason any.

There is therefore no reason to keep the old HDD Recory on E: folder.
It is completely unnecessary and I would like to remove this folder without formatting E:.
However, although I work with admin rights, this is strictly rejected by the system of Windows 8.

Is there any idea how to get the access rights to delete the HDDRecory folder?

Best regards and thanks for the help!
    Gernot

So far I didn't test these actions, but if you have administrative rights, maybe it's possible to delete certain partition and without changing the ability to create a new.
Try to do this, use the option of disk management in computer management.

Of course before trying to do this backup all other important data stored on that partition.

Please let me know if it will work.

  • Satellite Pro L10: How to remove the user password

    Hello

I work for a school and we have a bunch of laptops Satellite Pro L10. I put a supervisor on all laptops password think this problem would be solved (I didn't enter a password each time the machines are enabled), but one of our students seems to have found its way to the HWSetup utility in Control Panel and could save a user password on one of the laptops.

Alarmingly there seems to be no way to clear the password of the user, even though I have the supervisor password. I can get the BIOS as a supervisor, but the definition of a user password option is grayed out. Can anyone provide a solution for my problem?

    Thank you

    Hello

Well, I think that this problem could be solved by updating the BIOS to the version 2.60 or greater.
But the problem is that the password has already been fixed.

I read in the paper of Toshiba that all passwords must be removed before starting the BIOS updates.
That's why I think it would be advisable to contact Toshiba service partner to remove first the user password, and then update the BIOS.

You know it's very risky to update the BIOS of the device when the user or any password has been set.
It of possible that the BIOS update procedure will be interrupted if the password exists.

The keyboard replacement procedure is almost on all Toshiba laptops. At, first of all it must remove the cover above the keyboard (where the buttons are placed).

  • How can I reset password BIOS on Satellite Pro M30?

    Hello!

I have a portable Satellite Pro M30 and my son has changed my bios password and now I can't even start it! How can I reset the bios? Where is the bios battery out of MB, then reset as in desktop? Is there a jumper for the deal if all else fails? What should I try?

    Thank you all in advance.

    John.

    Hello John

Remove the CMOS battery didn't help much. If the removal of the BIOS can be so easy, remove the password on the stolen units may be too simple. Please don? t wait that these information will be posted here.

You can contact the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner. They will remove password for you.

    Good luck!

  • Screen jumping and overheating issues on my Satellite Pro M30

    Hey everybody!

I have a Satellite Pro M30, the screen seems to wobble a bit, probably due to a loose hinge. Can you please help me with this problem?
In addition, my laptop seems to overheat, how do I clean the dust to stop overheating?

    Thank you

    Hi mate!
For the screen issue. As it is a hardware thing, I suggest that contact you a local ASP. Of course, you can try by yourself to this problem, but I can say from my own, fitting the screen isn't the easy thing to do on your own, if you have no experience in that.

To clean your laptop from dust, you can use compressed air jet. Also make sure the cooling modules are not blocked by objects on your table, because if you've blocked, warm air ponds and cannot be updated.

  • Satellite Pro M30 - error message: the user is not authorized to update BIOS

    Hello

I bought a Satellite Pro M30 of second hand. This one has the Bios 1.30... I would like to install the bios v1.70.

I am running Windows XP Pro SP3 and tried first update in Windows.
I however got the message "the user is not allowed to update BIOS.

This message is quite surprising given that I have administrator privileges.

I read that you can use a floppy disk to update, but I did not...

So, is it possible to update the Bios with the CD?

    See you soon,.
    R.S.

    Hello

I checked the page European driver of Toshiba and found the version of BIOS 1.7 WIN in the field of ARCHIVES.

As you can see, it's a version of BIOS Windows and not a traditional version of the BIOS (trad BIOS can be updated using the diskette).
This BIOS win can be improved only from a running OS Win.

In any case, I see that you have installed SP3. It could have a bad influence on the update of the BIOS.
Then maybe you should try to update the BIOS without SP3 installed?

Remove SP3, download the good BIOS, unzip correctly and then try to run the BIOS update file.

_Ps: If you laptop then runs without problem a BIOS update is not necessary! _

  • Satellite Pro M30 - NVIDIA graphics controller problem

    Hello everyone

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro M30 with a Nvidia GeForce FX graphics controller. ([Image of the motherboard | http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh242/hardousss/PC3.jpg])

My problem is when I turn on the PC and wait a few seconds red and white vertical stripes begins to appear on the LCD and it cannot go after the BIOS password screen. I can type the BIOS password but when I hit OK or button that ENTER the laptop freezes. ([See image 2 | http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh242/hardousss/PC2.jpg])

In very rare occasions where the laptop was turned off for a long time, I listen to him on and he could overcome the BIOS password screen but freezes after a while: ([see Image 3 | http://i258.photobucket.com/albums/hh242/hardousss/PC1.jpg])

I plugged it to an external monitor and nothing has changed.
I removed the inverter (responsible for the lightning of the LCD screen) and the problem is still there.

Always to blame the graphics chip from NVIDIA.
I read here that it is not possible to replace them because they are soldered to the motherboard. But I want to, where can I get a laptop NVIDIA graphics chip. They sell somewhere?
I have a friend who works in an electronics manufacturing company (SAGEM) and told me that they have the tools needed to replace any piece on any Board of Directors.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello, my friend

I agree with you. It must be a faulty graphics card. I put t believe you can buy a graphics chip separately but you can buy mainboard used laptop on eBay. In my view, Exchange Board is no problem for you.

    At least a clue?

    Hi Malva,

Your DVD drive is visible in Device Manager? If so you can try to run the option "Troubleshooting" from there.

It must also propose in your BIOS. Make sure to do.

Finally, you can try to remove the device from your laptop and then restart. The system must detect the drive and reinstall it.
