Satellite Pro M30: What DVD burner is compatible?

Hi people, ask yourself if you can help.

I have a sat Pro M30 but it came with a CD-RW/DVD-ROM drive. I decided that I would be able to write DVDs with it also. Can someone point me in the direction of a substitute for the current drive - I really don't want an external, but a replacement for one that is already there. Product ID and where to buy would be really nice.

Thank you
Richard.

Hi Richard

As far as I know MS M30 is similar to Satellite M30. As far as I know that the Satellite M30 has a Super-Multi drive Matsu * a UJ-820. I guess you can use the same player with your device.

Good bye

  • What dvd burner is compatible with Tecra A2

    Hello

    I want to know what dvd burners are compatible with my tecra A2 because I bought a dvd burner and does not work with the tecra A2 (IDE1 #error).
    There is nothing about it in the manual.

    Can you help me?
    Thank you.

    This #error IDE1 appears because of the evil master\slave\c-salt settings.
    All Toshiba slim line discs works in cable (CSEL) default selection mode. In other words, the player receives a signal from the laptop it say if it needs to act as a master or a slave device on the IDE channel.

    Some portable computers on the market do not work according to this specification, but use the way inverted CSEL signal to save a bit of power electric. If you are installing a drive running in standard CSEL mode in such a laptop, the inverted signal will require to work evil master/slave mode giving the reader the logical address as the hard drive installed on the same IDE channel. Accordingly, the optical drive, HARD drive or both cannot be detected by the BIOS and is not usable. Some laptops may display an error message at the start, for example 'IDE #1 error"or similar.

    In some user manuals, you can find information about compatible CD/DVD players.
    Did you check that?

    If you find any details on a compatible player then contact ASP in your country for info. You can also order such driver of these guys here.

    Good luck

  • Equium L20-198: what DVD burner are compatible

    Hello.

    The combi CD / DVD writer on my laptop decided to give up the ghost.
    In my view, there is a good choice of burners 'slimline' designed for portable computers out there, but I was warned that not all burners are compatible with all PC.

    Apart from one obvious Mat * like one already installed, someone could you please recommend or advise the slimline burners will be compatible with Toshiba laptops, or better yet my model in general or at least advise what brands are known to be incompatible with computers laptop toshiba.

    I would be extremely grateful for any help you could give. :)

    Thank you very much
    Steve.

    You are right. Not all CD/DVD drive are compatible due to different master/slave/c-salt settings.

    But I ve discovered DVD Super Multi Pinan could be compatible:

    -HLDS (GSA-4082N. ATAKN0)
    -Pioneer (DVR-K16TBA)

  • Satellite Pro L20 - slow DVD burning speed

    Hi all

    I have a very annoying problem with my optical drive - he writes only CD at 6-8 x and DVD x 2! Nothing more! I have read several forums and it seems I'm not the only one with this problem. Only, it seems that there is no solution for this problem so far. The DVD multi drive is a Matsu * a 841 s UJ and its producer very has no support for this article at all. There is a firmware update available somewhere, I could find, but it only works for Vaio OEM.

    Again, I am only interested to release my drive from his normal abilities and not to unlock any area code or other kind. I just want to work to performance, I bought it, that's all.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks to you all.

    Hi Cosmin

    You have this problem since the first day? Have you tried using different blank discs? Burning program you use? If you use for example 16 x max CD speed options are listed in the burning application?

    After a year since I bought my laptop, the optical drive started having problems reading most of my DVD discs, even those written with her self.
    I want to replace the unit, I did this operation with my previous laptop too but then I used a maintenance manual.
    Anyone know where the maintenance manual for download?

    Thank you

    Hello

    The replacement is not complicated and you don t need textbooks. The reader is fixed with a screw. You can find it in the bottom corner near the memory module cover. Remove it and turn off the player.

  • Satellite Pro M30: Mast * a uj-820 s no longer works

    Satellite Pro M30: my dvd does not work. Everything seems fine with the hardware and drivers (already resettled) but even if the unit appears to access the media, in my pc or else I do not see the files. They register in administrator.

    Can we do with drag and drop in purchase of pc? Also plugged in external dvd who worked here and works in other computers and same problem! PLEASE IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE IT!
    At least a clue?

    Hi Malva,

    Your DVD drive is visible in Device Manager? If so you can try to run the option "Troubleshooting" from there.

    It must also propose in your BIOS. Make sure to do.

    Finally, you can try to remove the device from your laptop and then restart. The system must detect the drive and reinstall it.

  • Satellite Pro M30 - compatible DVD players

    Hello

    I have a Satellite Pro M30 and the optical block has problems, recognizing most of my DVDs.
    I want to change the drive, does anyone know which are the models compatible with this machine?
    The real player is Toshiba DVD - ROM SD-R6112.

    Thank you
    Daniel

    Hello

    As far as I know this unit has DVD +-R/RW (DualDrive) and in my opinion the best solution is to swap it with the same. On this way, you will be sure that everything works correctly.

    Unfortunately, there is no public document on the hardware upgrade and just Toshiba service partners can tell you more about it.

  • Satellite Pro M30: new HARD drive - what is the max capacity?

    Hello

    My Toshiba Satellite Pro M30 is 4 years old with a 60 GB hard drive (IDE).
    I would like to replace the hard drive with a bigger. What is the best? (BIOS version 1.70, Windows XP Pro SP 3).

    Hello

    As far as I know the laptop is equipped with an ATA-100 IDE / ATA-6 HARD drive controller.
    In this case, you will need to use the 2.5 IDE HARD drive.

    I know with certainty that this notebook would support 80 GB HDD, but generally a larger HARD drive should also be possible because the controller is able to manage the 48-bit LBA.
    The 48-bit LBA can handle hard drives of more than 120GB.

    In my opinion, you can try a 120 GB and also 160 GB HARD drive should be possible.

  • Need info on max size of HARD drive available for Satellite Pro M30-813

    Hello

    The question is mainly to be sent to Toshiba authorized support personnel. The limitation of the maximum size of a HARD drive internal that I could use with my Satellite Pro M30 - 813, what exactly?

    Recently, I bought and installed seagate SATA drive of 160 GB, on which I installed WXP Pro and have been running for a while with no problems. Recently, I've been copying large amounts of data to an external hard drive to my new internal drive, and that the files have been copied, as I noticed have about 50 GB of free space left, I knew windows "delayed write failed" and a failure of massive wall without the possibility to recover the data. The system would no longer boot time and the entire MBR has been damaged. As a result, I lost all the data on my new drive.

    Well, I realize that Toshiba is not responsible for additional hardware that I use with my computer laptop and who is not officially supported by Toshiba, I am sure that as an end-user of a Toshiba product, that I have the right to know a lot information of limiting size of HDD for my model of laptop. So I ask, representing technical support Toshiba to give me an official reply directly to my question.

    Thank you in advance,

    Andrejs

    (You can also contact me private my e-mail address)

    Hi Andrew

    > The question should mainly be addressed to Toshiba authorized support staff
    I think that you are in the wrong place if you are looking for a response from an authorized Toshiba support.
    This is a user to user Toshiba forum! You will here meet passionate and Toshiba laptop owner who share knowledge and trying to solve the problems, but no one of Tosh :(

    I could give my experience with Satellite M30 and HDD upgrade possibilities.
    To my knowledge the M30 Sat supports a 40 GB, 60 and 80 GB HARD drive for sure.
    In my opinion, you can use the 100 GB HARD drive, but more large HARD s drive will not run and works correctly.
    So go to a smaller size of HARD drive and enjoy the laptop!

    I've goggled a bit and found compatible drive HARD and part numbers
    HITACHI GBC000Z810-> 80 GB
    HITACHI GBC00014810-> 80 GB
    TOSHIBA HDD2188B-> 80 GB
    HITACHI G8C0000Z610-> 60 GB
    HITACHI G8BC00013610-> 60 GB
    TOSHIBA HDD2183-> 60 GB
    TOSHIBA HDD2184-> 60 GB

    I hope this might help you a little!

    Best regards

  • Satellite Pro M30 and eSATA

    Hi all

    I recently bought the external drive western digital mybook premium ARE. This disc has an eSATA (external SATA) port.

    The problem is that my satellite pro m30 (model #: psm35e0021jar) is not the external SATA port. I found an ADDONICS (eSATA, ExpressCard 34) and another similar product from SIIG (eSATA II Express Card).

    The question is:

    1.) these products going to be compatible with my fairly old laptop?
    2.) is the hard drive of my laptop SATA technology is or what?
    (3.) what brand of motherboard used in my laptop?

    Thanks in advance and I cannot wait for the answers.

    Hello

    1.) these 3 products of third parties are not known to me, but as you know the Satellite Pro M30 does not support a SATA interface and if you want to upgrade the HARD drive, you will need to use the HARD disk with interface IDE (ATA-5) increased.
    (2.) No, as indicated above the laptop supports the IDE and not SATA
    (3.) the Satellite Pro M30 using motherboards Toshiba ;)

    A hint; If you have a SATA HDD, you can use it as a external HARD drive. This HARD disk can be connected via external USB sata controller.

  • Satellite Pro M30: Where to find the new battery

    Hello

    I think I need a new battery for my Satellite Pro M30. When the battery is fully charged, it will be only for a few minutes. The light comes on when connected to AC so I know that it charges.

    I guess my battery died (I had the computer for almost three years now) and I need to get a new battery. Problem is, I don't know where to find it. The Toshiba homepage doesn't seem to provide.

    Is anyoine knows what to do?

    Thaks!

    Hello

    Your suggestion is right! This really looks like a dead battery and replacement is necessary.
    So, you know the details of the battery?
    Usually, batteries compatible and taken in charge are listed on the Toshiba site Options & accessories.

    I found this site on the European site of Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com-> product-> Options & accessories
    Here, you can choose your laptop model and you will get a list of compatible parts

    Oh compatible parts you can order the ASP in your country.
