Satellite Pro M40X does not ILLUMINATE
I have a M40X Pro Satellite that I bought 4 years ago. It works well until a few weeks ago.
I tried to turn it on but nothing happen, nothing, no lights, no sound at all, completely dead.
It is connected to the power supply and the power light is on, (the battery light does not work since there is a lot of time). I tried to remove the battery, unplug the power cable and after several hours or even days, try to turn it on and I got the same behavior.
Only power if it is (the power light when you connect the AC power) but when I press the button "turn on" the laptop, nothing happens.
My laptop isn't under warranty, so if someone could help find a solution that would be great!
I have read your problem related to the failure of hardware. It seems that the motherboard is dead, no doubt, the southbridge. In any case, you should contact the service center:
Note that the motherboard is one of the most expensive parts of the tower and don't know if it's worthy to replace, it is better to buy a used or a new laptop.
Satellite Pro C660 does not illuminate. no noise, no light just fill out the dead.
On this virtual path, it is not possible to provide an accurate diagnosis. All you can do is to unplug the power plug, remove the battery and leave it for a while. Then press the power button and hold it for 15 or 20 seconds.
After doing this connect the power running and try to start again.
What happens when you do this?
I have toshiba satellite pro m40x laptop. It haves apromaly 11 months.
In recent weeks, the laptop does not work with the battery.
With the battery and the power running, if I turn on the laptop, it turns off after 10 seconds. If I only turn the computer batteries, laptop not respons.
The laptop works without battery.
I have rma is not the portable and the technical suport fixed the battery because it only 6 months guarantee.
I'm sure that battery modules were not upset because I used the battery not very often.
I disassemble and I wached the control circuit. I'm sure that something of them, it was broken, but I can't fix it without the schema.
Another question is if I can change the graphics card to laptop. Is actually a x600se but I need power more graphic
I hope you can help me
It is not easy to say what the problem is here. Have you noticed something strange with LED power control? It is also possible that the electronic power supply do troubled. Try to talk with authorized Toshiba and explain the situation. If you open only one Notepad, uneducated, it may be simply worse.
Graphics card cannot be updated as on desktop computers. I put t know how it is on this model laptop but the graphics card is fixed on the motherboard and cannot be traded.
When I try to boot my Toshiba Satellite Pro A60, seems to be powered. A few seconds later, there is a click and it cuts.
I tried to turn on the computer with just the power supply with the battery removed, just with no power supply and battery and power, but none of these options are making a difference.
I also tried to clean the fan in the aspirant from the outside by a suction pipe, but even once, it did not help.
Can help you with the Please this problem?
Turn the laptop over and unscrew the cover on the ram. Then remove the ram and try to turn it on again. If it lights, put the piston inside the laptop and try again. It does not turn on? Then your ram is dead. If yes then you can replace, or have your asp replace it. If this does not resolve the problem, there is a small plastic cover that runs along the keyboard just above the keyboard. Take this off and then unscrew the fixing screws to the bottom of the keyboard. Under the keyboard, you may have a second RAM slot. If Yes, try to remove the RAM stick and turn. It work? If this isn't the case, you probably have a problem with the motherboard. If it lights fine, then you have found the issue and can replace or continue using it without the extra RAM. Hope this helps and have a nice day.
Hi all, I'm new to this forum.
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300 and I've had it for about 2 years.
But yesterday I closed the laptop as usual. But later I went back to it and tried to turn it on. But it does not work. Instead, when I press the power button the LED next to the battery symbol flashes orange/orange 6 times and then turns off.
Can someone tell me what it is? I tried to let it load, but that has not worked. The amber light is the only light that flashes. It does not recognize that I plugged in the charger and I don't think that the battery was flat. So I'm angry and helpless right now.
Can someone help me please?
See you soon.
There are several indicators;
DC, while running, the main battery, LED HDD/ODD.
So I guess the power LED flashes in orange. Right?
This means that something was wrong on the motherboard.
Maybe power supply electronic malfunctions
In this case, there is no much to do only mobo replacement could help to...
Hope you can help. We have a 5 years satellite pro L20 who never gave a lot of days. It runs from Win XP, had an upgrade (crucial) memory to 2 GB and a new battery 4 years ago 4 years ago. 2 days ago, he simply left with the same noise you get when force a shutdown by holding the power button down. I tried to boot with no battery, just the sector and only on a charged battery. All to nothing does not.
I then read the button of power with the battery and removed sector I did after leaving it overnight. When I replaced the battery it started as usual and lasted 30 seconds before turning off again, and then he was dead. I have tried all combinations with the ram up to 1 stick or kidnapped and attempted to get the bios with the HDD outside as well. Still nothing.
I noticed that when I put the battery in 2 of the 3 flashes briefly, and now the button of pwer while pushing the battery causes a brief start 4 seconds.
Any ideas as to what this may be? I suspect that the hardware and software. Also, I tried a different power adapter, once again no results. It stays just off.
Thanks for any help...
I'm afraid it looks like a serious m hardware problem
My first idea was a malfunction of the RAM in such a case, you could replace and test the memory, but it seems that you have already tried
In my view there s something wrong with a motherboard or a part on the motherboard :(
In this case I n t think a replacement of the motherboard would be useful since this part is very expensive
I have a Satellite Pro L10 and it stopped working yesterday. It won't turn on or charge up. No show of lights on the laptop when the charger is connected. I plugged in another toshiba charger but still no luck.
Does anyone have ideas on what could be the problem with it and if it is easily resolved. The laptop is about 2 years old. Thanks for your help
Seems not beautiful it is maybe something wrong with the electronic power on the card mother s in this case the motherboard must be replaced to solve this problem
But maybe you are a lucky guy and only the power adapter malfunctioning Yes, I know that you have tested the laptop with another power adapter, but are you sure that the second captain is supported?
Anyway, in my opinion, nobody here can provide a solution exactly because without diagnostic tests we don t know what could be wrong
This is why I recommend to contact the technician of the ASP for a help
The machine (not mine) went suddenly "dead" outside of the led lighting, even if she had been normally before it was turned off.
When it was given to see what we could do, I fear a failure to the mobo, but when we lifted up at an angle and press the power button upward, it began. Everything was as it should be - until we turned it off, then same thing happened, and again, it has started, then while I was holding it at an angle.
We thought at the beginning it was a faulty switch that could be replaced, but now we believe it is more likely to be something that is broken and is intermittent contact when it is in the right position.
If anyone else has had a similar problem and can tell us a little more about what we are against, please?
It's not easy to say why this problem occurs. Of course, this looks like a hardware failure, but I can't give t you a good answer exactly what s wrong.
Well, I think that the best way is to contact the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner. He can start the diagnostic test to analyze the malfunction.
I have problems with my computer toshiba laptop, suddenly the other day, he does, instead when the power button is held three lights... turn the caps lock light and lighting under the f10 and f11 keys, when plugged into current alternative battery light turns orange.
I tried to remove the moemory models and hard drive, but nothing works, nothing changes.
any help would be appreciated.
Thank you, tom
You have the same problem, if it is start with battery or AC/DC adapter?
In the worst cases, you need help from the ASP. The technician must check your laptop to make sure that the part or parts are defective.
On the Toshiba site, you can search an ASP:

The product key on my Satellite Pro P300 does not work.
I entered the key from the sticker on the back of the computer. What I am doing wrong?
Why use this product key?
Firstly the Toshiba recovery image is already enabled and you don t need this key more activations.
Second, it's an OEM key and it will not work with other versions of Vista!
My satellite M30X 127 does not illuminate. When I push the power button, it is DIRECTED in turn. But nothing comes on the screen. There is no sound and the fan does not start. I took it to a repair center and they told me the motherboard is fried and it will cost me 400 pounds to fix.
The guy there offered my 100 pounds for to buy me.
Please a little help. What should I do?
Otherwise you will search in ebay for the second hand with the good motherboard unit.
Sometimes people sell books with the failure to display or other parts of damage, but the motherboard is ok.
You can try to use second hand motherboard in your laptop.
Suddenly my new Satellite Pro A300 does not start correctly when you press the power button. The situation is the following: when I press the power button is displayed the opening of Toshiba (Leading Innovation) and the disappers image quickly. Then there is a black screen for about 30 seconds. There is a rectangular frame with the text Microsoft Corporation under. And nothing happens however long wait.
In order to get with the trial starting I then shut down the computer by pressing the power button until the computer turns off. ("The hard way to close")
Now, I press the power button shortly to turn on the computer. Then, the computer starts normally with the photo to open Toshiba and after a few seconds, I wonder to open the computer in safe mode or in normal mode. I now choose to open in normal mode and the computer opens normally and is ready to work.
What should I do to get a normal departure procedure?
When the laptop starts normally (after choosing normal mode) stop your laptop properly using START > shut down option. Next launch should be normal.
When the OS is moving towards the low irregularly will always ask you how to start this new (secure or normal mode).
The same thing happen on my Satellite A300.
I have the following problem:
A Satellite Pro 4320 will not feed, DC-in light is on (green), with inserted (quite old) battery, the quickly flashes orange, (charge of compensation, according to manual) battery. If I press the power button / stop, DC-In goes off for half a second and turns on, that of all, nothing else happens.
The power supply is 15V 4Amps one correct, I load tested it works and provides all the power, according to the specifications. It does not matter if the battery is inserted or not.
Now the question: is this a battery problem or there is a problem with the entrails of laptops (internal DC converter)? Normally, your laptop should work on the included power supply.
> Normally a laptop should work on the included power supply.
You're absolutely right, mate. All cell phones work with power supply only, theoretically, a battery is not necessary. That's only important if you want to work without power, otherwise laptop mobile working with power supply only. No battery is needed.
So my personal opinion it of a card mother dysfunction :(
MY TOSHIBA SATELLITE PRO A10 PRIMER NOT.
WHAT I GET IS NO DRIVE DETECTED. TRIED TO REINSTALL XP BUT STILL NO LUCK.
CAN EVERYTHING-ONE PLEASE HELP AS I AM PULLING MY HAIR OUT TRYING TO THINHK HOW TO SOLVE THIS ANNOYING PROBLEM.
DOES ANY - ONE KNOW WHERE I CAN DOWNLOAD A RECOVERY DISC SO I CAN TRY THIS OPTION.
HARD drive is visible in the BIOS?
If this isn't the case, then this means that the HARD drive is faulty.
Try to replace the HDD with a compatible and try again.
I have a Satellite Pro M40X but it read only MMC/SD with a capacity of 1 GB. If I try with 2GB or 4GB nothing appens. What can I do? What drivers I try to upgrade to Windows XP to be able to read cards up to 4 GB?
The drive will not read the 4 GB SD card due to hardware limitation!
CA? s not a software but a hardware problem!
Even you will update the driver, it will not help get the 4 GB SD card running!
I recommend to use an external card reader which can be connected to the USB port!
