Satellite Pro M70 can't read 4 GB SD card

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro M70 PSM76E and a 4 GB SD card. The laptop can not read the card. How can I do to work properly?

Problem is that older models of laptops have problem reading last SD cards with a capacity still more and more. In my opinion it has not much to do. Maybe you can try to install the driver for some newer model laptop SD card reader. Perhaps driver for A100.
I have too many M70, but I don't use SD cards. I prefer that USB keys because there is no any type of restriction.

Good bye

  • Satellite Pro M70-113: cannot install Vista graphics driver and lines appears on the display

    Hello

I have satellite pro m70-113 with ati x 700 graphics card.

When I installed vista, he installed the default drivers for the x 700 'mobility radeon x 700-microsft Corp.-WDDM '.

I've updated the display drivers for vista, that released by toshiba 2 days back... but the driver is not updated to the latest version, only the catalyst control center is installed when I ran the update of the driver of toshiba.

The problem is that whenever I put my laptop in standby or hibernation and resume... the screen shows thin lines vertical/horizontal... and I can't use the laptop... and I have to still put the system to sleep, just to hope that it is not blocking the screen this time...

This problem is 25% of the time only when resume...

This problem is not resolved by the update driver for toshiba has released a few days back... as is not installs the drivers (I can't even install the drivers with the option "update drivers" of Device Manager and select file driver update from toshiba.) It says windows find new driver, but could not install the driver... Contact the manufacturer...)

This snap shows the problem... : http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/2783/12042007366copyod1.jpg

I updated the driver from an earlier version of catalyst, as it is downloaded from the ati site before that toshiba has released the update... this time it updates some 8. XXX version but the screen problem remains...

Second, this update of the driver leaves me not sleep my system... the process starts for a sleep, but go back to the locked screen without making sleep ever... so I have no choice to get stuck with the default Windows... drivers having only the problem of the screen... and not the problem of sleep...

    Anyone here with a solution?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I have Satellite M70-159 and I noticed the same thing several times. For most Vista works well but I don't remember cases in which the described problem occurs. I was just curious on M70 Vista and have had no time to intensive testing.

Anyway, it will be interesting to know if you have already updated the BIOS to the latest version 5.10. If this is not the case to do this and watch carefully if the problem persists.

  • Problem on Satellite Pro M70 SD card reader

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro M70 (PSM76E) and can not get the SD card reader to work. I do not have the CD for my laptop and not drivers for the SD card reader in the download section for my laptop.
I use XP Pro and it appeared in Device Manager as a mass storage device (with yellow apostrophe) soas suggested in a previous thread, I installed a driver of a similar model - now no yellow appostrophe but still does not work.

    Can anyone help please?
    Thank you very much
    Roy

You don't have a SD card reader but 5 in 1 and for this device card reader, you need to install Cardbus Driver version 2.0.0.1. Have you already installed?
It is available for your model of laptop. I found it on the Toshiba support page.

  • Satellite Pro M70 - what HARD drive can you recommend?

I have Satellite Pro M70 and I have a 60GB HDD that I see what it s SATA 8 MB of buffer memory. The processor it s 1.73 GHz. I see that there is the Samsung typical 160 GB and the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 160 GB at the same price, which is better?

And for only $ 11 more there's a Scorpio blue Western digital 320 with even 8 MB buffer than other 2. But I don t think so 320, that's a lot for Satellite Pro M70, and I have an external drive 2.5 "250 GB, data with this is not problem.

What the best solution for this laptop? I don t want to burn now the phone LOL.

    Thank you

    Hello

If your laptop is already equipped with SATA interface, you can use each HDD with SATA1 or SATA2 port on the new SATA interface there is no limit on the old standard IDE

It s your choice what HARD drive you buy because I put t know your needs, but in my opinion it makes no difference which manufacturing you buy the HARD drive. All hard drives are similar and there is no significant difference (performance).
I made good experiences with Western Digital and Hitachi hard drives.

By the way: you can buy a HARD drive with 7200 rpm or 5400.rpm. Latter is faster but requires more power. In my opinion, this is useful if you often work with large files.

  • Can I use Express Media Player on Satellite Pro M70 delivered without it?

    Hello world

I have a portable Satellite Pro M70 which has not been installed with Express Media Player. In addition, my recovery CD too are not the Express Media Player software on it. Is there a way I can download this Express Media Player and even install on my laptop. If so can someone let me have this link download and any other procedure for doing the same thing.

    Thank you
    Marzi

I put t agree with the user above.
Microsoft Windows player is not the same as the Express Media Player, which is sometimes delivered with Toshiba laptops.
As far as I know, this software cannot be downloaded and it s version an OEM if it s preinstalled on your laptop.
In this forum, you will find some comments on this topic.
To my knowledge, you cannot obtain and order the CD of Express Media Player if this application has not been delivered with your laptop.

    Unfortunately, nothing to do.

All you can do is upgrade the RAM and HARD drive.
If you need more space on the HARD disk, you can upgrade the HARD drive. This should t be a problem.
The RAM can be upgraded to max 2 GB using memory DDR2 PC2-4200

The CPU or the graphics card update is not possible.

  • Video capture with a satellite Pro M70: which ports and drives can I use?

I want to edit my home movies on my Satellite Pro M70 using WXP Pro (win dvd or movie maker). I want to capture video from my panasonic camcorder that has digital strips. What are the ports that I can use and what cables do I need? I'm desperate to edit my recent wedding video to put on DVD and mail it to my mom. The panasonic website has ignored me! Any advice anyone?

Well, as far as I know this unit has only one S-video output port. In this case, you can connect the laptop to the TV and look at the photo of laptop to TV but it of not possible to receive all the signals of TV or any other device on your laptop.
To receive the signals, you need a composite or a s-video port.

However, if the camcorder has a firewire if port you can send digital files through the firewire connection. But this should only work with digital files that are saved on the camcorder.

  • Use SDHC with Satellite Pro M70

    Hello!
My question is about the Satellite Pro M70 (PSM76) SD card reader. Can I use SD card 4 GB or more (SDHC)?

All what I can say is: you can try to use it and I hope to be recognized correctly. I have Satellite M70, but I do not use SD cards and unfortunately can not test it on my laptop.

Just test it. To be honest, I'm a bit skeptical about it.

  • Satellite Pro M70 - USB port does not recognize the device

My Satellite Pro M70 has three USB slots, one on the left and two (vertically one above the other) at the back of the laptop.

The top slot to USB in the back started giving problems. Sometimes, my computer can't see all that I plugged in there. But if I unplug anything - usually the printer or the mouse - the computer will usually see it then.

What is the problem? Can do nothing about it?

My operating system is XP. and my laptop is 4.33 year.

    Thank you.

    Hi Mannix,

Have you already updated the chipset drivers?

I read in the forum about these questions and normally helps to reinstall the chipset driver. :)

Could someone who has a Toshiba Satellite Pro M70, with bluetooth, tell me the part number of the bluetooth module please?

You can reed one of the labels under your laptop. You can read bluetooth inside, the reference is in the left side of the label, and it will be something like this: PA3418U-BTM.

    Thank you.

    Hello

Why you n t make a call to the service allowed in your country partner and would order a compatible BT module for your laptop?
In my opinion, it would be the best way to get a.

Unfortunately I m no owner of the satellite Pro M70 and, therefore, I have don t know the part number for BT. But my A210 has been equipped with an internal module of BT and PA3608U-1BTM part number

  • Satellite Pro M70: Question on the port on the left hand side

Another question regarding the Pro M70 PSM75E, next to the hard drive (left side) there is a port which you can take off. I took it of and it looks like a chip grafx or something: s someone with the M70 not what it is.

    Thanks again

    Hello

Well, there are of many Satellite Pro M70. It s a great series.
But for example Satellite Pro M70-110 has a PCMCIA Type II slot.
You can use the different PCMICA card in this slot. But they must be compatible.
I guess this slot machine, you found a plastic Board. This is only for security.

However, if you want to learn more about your device, I would recommend reading the user manual which must be preinstalled on your laptop. You will find very, very, very ;) useful information.

Really, I have not much used this drive and never scratched/gradient/local support, only the Supermedium media inserted.

    Thank you

    Hello

Well, based on your description it sounds like the drive cannot calibrate the lens and, therefore, it of not possible to read or write to these media.
Usual it of not possible to fix this and the replacement drive is necessary.

You can also consult the user manual. You will find a list with all supported and compatible media.
