Satellite Pro M70: missing driver ATI Control Panel / no sound

Hello

I am new to this place and do not really understand all the numbers and stuff it in the post. So I'll try to be as simple as possible. I have a SP M70-343, and when I start the laptop I get a warning of ATI telling me there is no driver installed Control Panel, so I can t get any sound through media player or itunes or anything else besides.

I m seen real trouble finding a solution online and my driver recovery disks have disappeared (I think I know where they are and hopefully get them back), but id really like to fix this as soon as possible, no music at all becomes boring!

Anyone able to help?

Thank you

Try to reinstall ATI and its pilot. Two of them you will find on the download page of Toshiba under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/ - Support & downloads.

  • Satellite Pro A100: Display Driver ATI Mobile Radeon X 1400 WinXP

    Hello there :)

I have browsed the forum and could not find another thread that helps me. I have a Satellite pro A100 PSAACE laptop, equipped with a Mobile Radeon X 1400 graphics card. Now, I was informed by the games that I play that drivers are up-to-date. I think it is true that in the last few days, I formatted my laptop and then only initial drivers from the disc of recovery of the product are to be used.

I visit the ATI site, and they inform me that I have to contact my laptop to the manufacturer (that Toshiba are not in the list of supported manufacturers) in order to get the new drivers. If I remember I should get all my updates page to download the driver from this Web site. The only problem is that apparently he not there no update driver for the graphics card (to share for one for Vista).

I recently reformatted my computer using recovery of product, and so that's why I was after the new driver. I don't remember for sure, but I'm pretty confident that I have already downloaded a updated driver for my graphic chipset during the last 14 months of use (before formatting my hard drive).

Now, if someone could offer any help to find the driver, or have information about the problem, it would be highly appreciated. Once more, my specs (you need to enter on the page of the driver) are portable series A100, PSAAC, PSAACE, and I use Windows XP.

Thanks for reading, and I would appreciate any feedback whatsoever.

    Hello
You can find the display drivers at the following location:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com (Support & downloads), choose your type of laptop and then download the ATI display drivers.

Make sure that you select Windows XP as the operating system. Check it out.

But note that the display drivers for laptop computers are not updated as often as for desktop PCs. If you encounter serious problems with your real driver version then just leave it.

You can find the other drivers on the internet, but to use at your own risk.

  • Satellite Pro M70-113: cannot install Vista graphics driver and lines appears on the display

    Hello

I have satellite pro m70-113 with ati x 700 graphics card.

When I installed vista, he installed the default drivers for the x 700 'mobility radeon x 700-microsft Corp.-WDDM '.

I've updated the display drivers for vista, that released by toshiba 2 days back... but the driver is not updated to the latest version, only the catalyst control center is installed when I ran the update of the driver of toshiba.

The problem is that whenever I put my laptop in standby or hibernation and resume... the screen shows thin lines vertical/horizontal... and I can't use the laptop... and I have to still put the system to sleep, just to hope that it is not blocking the screen this time...

This problem is 25% of the time only when resume...

This problem is not resolved by the update driver for toshiba has released a few days back... as is not installs the drivers (I can't even install the drivers with the option "update drivers" of Device Manager and select file driver update from toshiba.) It says windows find new driver, but could not install the driver... Contact the manufacturer...)

This snap shows the problem... : http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/2783/12042007366copyod1.jpg

I updated the driver from an earlier version of catalyst, as it is downloaded from the ati site before that toshiba has released the update... this time it updates some 8. XXX version but the screen problem remains...

Second, this update of the driver leaves me not sleep my system... the process starts for a sleep, but go back to the locked screen without making sleep ever... so I have no choice to get stuck with the default Windows... drivers having only the problem of the screen... and not the problem of sleep...

    Anyone here with a solution?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I have Satellite M70-159 and I noticed the same thing several times. For most Vista works well but I don't remember cases in which the described problem occurs. I was just curious on M70 Vista and have had no time to intensive testing.

Anyway, it will be interesting to know if you have already updated the BIOS to the latest version 5.10. If this is not the case to do this and watch carefully if the problem persists.

that very well, I would appreciate some help to solve.

My questions are in * "BOLD" type * at the bottom of this post.

In the device under the "Sound, video controller & games" Manager type of device, I found a yellow exclamation point
mark against "The Microsoft kernel DLS synthesizer".

When I right click on the entry for device 'Microsoft Kernel DLS Syntheizer' and select 'Properties', the

    Location: Location 0
Device status: Windows cannot load the driverfor of this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or
    missing (Code 39)
Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.

Before clicking on the resolution of the problems, I checked the info on the "Driver" tab, which is:

My concern is with the "relocation of the device" instructions, which are:

Close all programs > start the Add Hardware Wizard > click Next and Windows Search Plug &
    Play devices.
If no device Plug & Play are found, a list of devices appears > click on "Add a new hardware device" > click Next > click

    Hello

I've never heard of the Microsoft kernel DLS synthesizer and that's why I studied a bit.

I found this MS developer site:
    http://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa940369.aspx

    It is said:
The component of the Microsoft kernel DLS synthesizer provides the port of DMusic, content class miniport driver in the dmusic.sys file

It seems that most of the problems with this kernel occur due to lack of SP2.
If you have installed Windows XP you need to update the operating system to the State.
All service packages must be installed!

  • Satellite Pro M70 - what HARD drive can you recommend?

I have Satellite Pro M70 and I have a 60GB HDD that I see what it s SATA 8 MB of buffer memory. The processor it s 1.73 GHz. I see that there is the Samsung typical 160 GB and the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 160 GB at the same price, which is better?

And for only $ 11 more there's a Scorpio blue Western digital 320 with even 8 MB buffer than other 2. But I don t think so 320, that's a lot for Satellite Pro M70, and I have an external drive 2.5 "250 GB, data with this is not problem.

What the best solution for this laptop? I don t want to burn now the phone LOL.

    Thank you

    Hello

If your laptop is already equipped with SATA interface, you can use each HDD with SATA1 or SATA2 port on the new SATA interface there is no limit on the old standard IDE

It s your choice what HARD drive you buy because I put t know your needs, but in my opinion it makes no difference which manufacturing you buy the HARD drive. All hard drives are similar and there is no significant difference (performance).
I made good experiences with Western Digital and Hitachi hard drives.

By the way: you can buy a HARD drive with 7200 rpm or 5400.rpm. Latter is faster but requires more power. In my opinion, this is useful if you often work with large files.

    Thank you

    AlanCB

    Hello

The laptop uses a simple 2.5 SATA HDD.
It's not really important what the speed of the HARD drive is supported, but I recommend to use the 5400 RPM or faster 7200 RPM HARD drive

Generally all HARD drive size should be compatible because the SATA controller has no limitations.

  • Should Satellite Pro M70 driver SATA?

Satellite Pro M70 must SATA driver for HARD drive?
If yes where can I find it?

    Hello

Hmm. Satellite Pro M70 is a bit older, but it supports the SATA HDD controller and usually the SATA drivers should be included.

As far as I know that Windows XP should include SP2! This is important.
In addition, you must include the driver AHCI (Intel SATA AHCI Controller V5.1.0.1022) for Win XP.

Usually, this driver should be required to get the XP working on the M70.
Just Google for this Intel SATA AHCI Controller driver
Page Intel should also provide this driver too

    Hi Alan

    1.
Can you use IE and other applications if the WIFI network is not secure with WPA2?
    You can test using WEP?
Just to be safe because of securing WLAN.

    2.
You are right. Your model has Intel WLAN card and if you need a new driver just visit Portal Toshiba WLAn under http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan/

I really don't know what service or upgrade of system you are using, but if everything works well you don't need any update to date.

  • External USB floppy drive for Satellite Pro M70

I just bought a Satellite Pro M70 Centrino Mobile 750 to replace my Satellite 5105 - S702, which exposes the same type of problems of corruption/crash video display described elsewhere in these forums.

I need an external floppy drive, and the site of the Toshiba shop specifies an external USB Floppy Drive Ref. PA3109E-3FDD.

However, I have an external drive USB Floppy, Réf. PA3109U-1FDD, I bought for the satellite 5105-S702 about 4 years ago.

5105-S702 has USB 1.1 ports and satellite Pro M70 has USB2 ports.

    Issues related to the:

PA3109U-1FDD will work with the satellite Pro M70?

There are likely to be problems of compatibility, driver issues or any probability/possibility of damage to the Sat ProM70?

    Would appreciate any advice.

    Thank you

    AlanCB

    Hi Alan

I really don? t know why you ask if the floppy drive will not work. Why you don? t he try? As far as I know, it should work and you should not buy a new one.

Just for info: a few months ago, I saw the Toshiba FDD drives with part number PX? And these drives are not bootable but on the lower side, there is a label with this information.

Anyway, you can use your other more ancient. According to the specification tested for MS M70 is FDD Drive Kit PA3109U-1FDD (your one).

    Good luck

  • Video capture with a satellite Pro M70: which ports and drives can I use?

I want to edit my home movies on my Satellite Pro M70 using WXP Pro (win dvd or movie maker). I want to capture video from my panasonic camcorder that has digital strips. What are the ports that I can use and what cables do I need? I'm desperate to edit my recent wedding video to put on DVD and mail it to my mom. The panasonic website has ignored me! Any advice anyone?

Well, as far as I know this unit has only one S-video output port. In this case, you can connect the laptop to the TV and look at the photo of laptop to TV but it of not possible to receive all the signals of TV or any other device on your laptop.
To receive the signals, you need a composite or a s-video port.

However, if the camcorder has a firewire if port you can send digital files through the firewire connection. But this should only work with digital files that are saved on the camcorder.

    2. What is the procedure for changing the boot during the start-up phase sequence?

    3. What is the most 'sensitive' boot sequence, with & without an attached external floppy drive?

    Thank you
    AlanCB

Well, I'm not 100% sure but I think the default start setting is:
    DISK HARD-CD/DVD-FDD-LAN
However, you can set and change parameters in the Toshiba HWSetup that is located in Control Panel.

Just FYI: by pressing a key during POST, you can choose the boot device.
    D - default system
    U USB FDD
    1 - disc HARD bed

    C - CD rom
    N - network LAN
P - PC HDD (PCMCIA) card

But these options are not always available.

  • Satellite Pro M70: removal of the USB device causes other peripheral USB does not work

Withdrawal/use of a USB for a USB device causes devices on USB port to get affected.

Satellite Pro M70-199 (2 GB RAM)
Windows XP Pro (SP2) with all updates of Windows installed until end of October 2006.
This laptop has 3 USB ports.
An Eicon Diva ISDN USB modem is connected to a USB port.

When certain devices connected to a different USB port are deleted (even if removed safely with "eject" or "remove device safely", it causes the ISDN modem to file either a double channel (64 k + 64 k) ISDN, or for the ISDM modem to disconnect completely.)

Cause this include any memory stick USB, MP3 player (ipod and creative zen) and so on.

Do other devices, such as USB external hard drives & sometimes external DVD USB drives, and sonetimes do not produce this problem.

    Is this a known issue?
If it is a hardware interrupt problem, how to solve it?
This problem is related to the modem and the laptop?

As a note, in addition, intermittent (random) times (cannot reproduce all the time, but it happens once or twice a day) when a USB device is accessible it causes the modem USB ISDN to drop a single channel, even if the lights on the modem still show it as it is connected. In this case and the case above, the only way to get the modem ISDN USB running again is physically disconnect and reconnect.

The reason why it is a crucial issue is that:
    (1) the modem speed is halved or disconnected
    (2) the ISP continues to full rate for a double load connection even if a channel has been dropped.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hello

I have Satellite M70-159 and I didn t notice any strange problems with the USB ports. I use a few of them as printer, webcam, USB, memory stick, optical mouse, and external HARD drive. The devices are recognized correctly and I always remove without option delete without danger.

Now I have Vista pre-installed and there is no problem so far. If I understand you right USB ports work fine but there is problem with USB modem only. Am I wrong?
Also try to contact the producer of modem support. Is perhaps the question like this known and if all goes well, they have a logical explanation.

    Hello

    I m bit confused.
What do you mean bythe M70 is not among the list of computers?

You can perform the installation of Vista Express Upgrade or you can just install from the original CD of Microsoft Vista.
This should be no problem! All Toshiba Vista need drivers and tools are published on the page of the Toshiba driver and all internal portable devices should be recognized as well.
