Satellite Pro M70 - screen is blank

Hey guys,.

Have had my Satellite Pro M70 for more than a year now and never gave me any problems before. On about 3 times now, the screen disappeared all of a sudden completely gray and white and stays that way, unless I restart and is so very well.

Appears to be spontaneous, can't everyday and not even aware if his reason leaving for a long time.

Ive noticed that more than half of the screen flashes from time to time but don't know if it's because it's on during a long period or heat related but only started to do this recently.

It just seems to be a problem with the monitor, like running programs under were unaffected (IE if I was running MSN messenger and the screen went gray, I could still type messages, etc just not see them!).

Have the latest graphics driver for my Intel knowledge: 6.14.10.4363, don't know if it could be a problem with the card? Hepatitis a lot of free hard disk space, seeking to increase the ram (currently 512) suggestions?

Hello

I am very happy that I don't have these problems on my Satellite M70. I recommend you test your laptop connected to an external display to see if the symptoms are the same. If so, I fear that there is a problem with the graphics card.

On the RAM, can I just say that your laptop can handle with max 2 GB RAM and compatible RAM modules are:
512 MB (PA3412U - 1 M 51)
1 GB (PA3411U-1M1G)

Good bye

Looks like a FL. inverter problem
I doubt that you could replace is it s a job to a service technician.
The FL Inverter control the backlight of the screen and if it s faulty, you will see everything as behind a thick fog

  • Satellite Pro S300 - screen is blank and can not restart

A week ago, I left my Satellite Pro S300-EZ2502 at night (as usual). It was fine tonight.

The next day, I got a black screen and a flashing light orange on the left side. I tried to turn it off, don't restart, no dice. I tried removing the battery and restart under just current alternative, nothing, I tried the opposite. Nothing. I tried to let the battery and then recharge. No help. Very rarely when I plug it in again, I will get the green light for a few seconds, but then again the yellow flashing light. Nothing EVER on the screen.

I've only had this laptop since MAY! What's wrong!!

Have you installed extra RAM in the system?

Try to remove one of the Modules or swap them around.

Otherwise, it may be a motherboard problem. An FSL can repair it for you - free if its under warranty.

  • Satellite Pro P100 - screen is blank

Computer seems to be on, but the laptop screen remains empty.

OK so for the moment, the power light is on and HD and the rear fan is not on and when I press the power button, the HD and the rear fan turns on and then the power light just flashes but nothing is on the screen and the lights (capslock/numlock etc.) keyboard flash not as they would on a start upward. Which leads to presume that the laptop is in hibernation or something, but it should come out of hibernation (if that were the case) on a press on the power button, but nothing happens when I do that.

also connected an external monitor to the back of the laptop, nothing on the screen as well.

    any ideas?

    Hello

HM, it could be a problem of motherboard or something else. I doubt that it s an inside problem appears because tested an external display and here you can see the same problem.

What you can do is the following workaround: remove the battery and the AC adapter and wait an hour. Reconnect the adapter AC/DC and battery. Now, you can try to restart the laptop.

If it doesn t work I would ask for a portable computer technician of an authorized service provider. Maybe it s a hardware malfunction and the ASP can test your laptop.

    Good bye

  • Satellite Pro A100 screen goes blank for two seconds

Since I got my machine in June, it has obscured the screen for a few seconds every now and then - probably once or twice a day.

Is this serious and likely to get worse - should I send it until the warranty runs out?

It might have something to do with Flashcards. I don't know what it is, but whenever I start, he refuses to quit smoking.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    Hello

    > Is it serious and likely to get worse - should I send it until the warranty runs out
I think that it s not easy to say if it could be a serious hardware problem or just a driver issue.

    I have a few questions;
First of all; have you checked whether a BIOS update or update the graphics driver was help? For the most part, these updates do wonders ;)

How about new installation OS since the recovery CD? Have you checked if the same problem appears on the new OS installed since the recovery CD?

I think that this should be checked first.

  • Satellite Pro M70 - stopped screen lights

    Hello

My Toshiba Satellite PRO M70 screen lights.
I don't know why, but sometimes when the screen is broken and I put it up it turns on, but after a few seconds it stops.

It started a few days without something strange in my pc like hitting or something like that.
I tried to connect an external display and it works weell.

Anyone know why it cant pass or how fix it?

    Thank you

    Greetings

    Toni.

    Hello

    The Fn keys work?
You can increase the display button narrowly by using the FN + F7 combination?

Please also check the energy saving profile.
Maybe the display brightness is set to a lower value in the power saver profile.

But if you will not find anything unusual in the settings of the software, so I guess that the brightness display problem is related to the failure of inverter FL.
The FL inverter controls the brightness of the screen, and this part needs to be replaced.

  • Satellite Pro M70-113 does not start up - it hangs at the logo screen

    Hello

    I have a toshiba satellite pro m70-113.

Sometimes when my laptop turns off mode standby automatically, due to inactivity and then if I press a key on the keyboard to wake up nothing happens and I have no other choice but to it stop completely by pressing the button for 5 seconds.
But when I restart it works well, that is to say, it starts very well.

But today, when it is in a similar situation, I restarted the laptop, the screen move after the logo screen toshiba. I have the power on several times, but without success. It crashes just on screen toshiba logo.

After a few restart I pressed ESC while restarting and the toshiba logo changed to the texts POST bios screen.
And I found that the text will not go forward after having reached:
    Find disk 0:
    Maybe default feel HDD initialization...
    The captured image is here:
    http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/9986/image007sp2.jpg

Note: this is a capture when, I don't know how the system has just begun works very well and can be seen that the HARD drive is detected normally this time. While the earlier version, it will not proceed after having reached "Found Disk 0:

So, the problem is that at the time of the problem, the hard drive was not read / initialized or something like that.

And I remember that when I tried to reboot my laptop and it did not work. It was running on battery and when I switched power supply that worked.

So it is a problem that has been fixed in a bet to update BIOS, but for another laptop (see laufendspass post) his link on this forum is here:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=13143&MessageID=48143

And my current bios version is 1.1 and an update is available for v1.30... (But I have not yet updated)

Another problem I had met some time was same this post mentions to be corrected during the update of the bios.
i.e. "corrected: a computer that is turned on to State power and running on battery power, may crash if the user is connected to the AC adapter while it is start.»

So, for this, all mean that these problems can be solved by an update of the bios v1.30 which is available for my Satellite m70-113?

    Please answer.

    Hi Ashish,

The fact that the initial POST process cannot access your hard disk suggests you that there is a possible problem with the drive, maybe he is not in place correctly when power is applied to it. The contents of the disc should be OK, then I suggest you take a good backup of your system (or at least your personal data) If you manage to get your notebook to boot successfully.

I do not think that an update of the BIOS will affect any on that since the problem does not seem to have a certain 'trigger', and if the BIOS cannot access the hard disk then no matter what version of BIOS you are using.

    Kind regards

  • Satellite Pro M70: projection screen has a bad wobble

Using a Satellite Pro M70 with a model of multimedia projector Sanyo PLC-XF41, the image on the projector screen has a bad deflection, as if the refresh rate was wrong. Have you checked the laptop shows the parameters - can anyone help please?

    Hello

As far as I know it of not possible to change the refresh rate.
In addition if the projector doesn't work properly, you must change the recovery settings.
Try this option. I read that in most cases, this procedure allows.

  • Satellite Pro M70-275 - where is the lid switch?

    Hei,

I have problem with backlight in my laptop (Toshiba Satellite Pro M70-275). I think that the problem will be solved completely if I find where is the button of the cover.

I hope someone can help and guide me to the location of the switch.

    THX

    Hello

Are you sure that the problem is the lid switch? Normally if the backlight doesn t work on the screen inverter FL needs to be replaced.
What happens if you connect an external monitor to the laptop? You see an image?

The FL switch is normally placed under the cover of the display. It s a little trickier to Exchange because it is necessary to remove the plastic cover of the screen.
Maybe you should ask a technician for laptop to help.

I'm unable to read cd - r. It's really strange that a few days earlier these CD - R have been reading very well on my drive.

I am able to burn successfully on a support DVD + RW 4 x with data amounting to close to 4.34 GB for DVD5...
When I insert a DVD - R Virgin car doesn t detects it as a blank media and the keps LED on lighting constantly and if nero State doesn't detect my DVD even! I'm not able to write on my DVD-R media...

In short: write to RWs is possible for both cd - r and dvd + RW not possible of writing on CD - R and DVD-R.

    Please help me.
It is only 7 months since I bought this laptop and believe that there may be no other person on this planet who looks after the training better than me!
Really, I have not much used this drive and never scratched/gradient/local support, only the Supermedium media inserted.

    Thank you

    Hello

Well, based on your description it sounds like the drive cannot calibrate the lens and, therefore, it of not possible to read or write to these media.
Usual it of not possible to fix this and the replacement drive is necessary.

You can also consult the user manual. You will find a list with all supported and compatible media.

  • Satellite Pro M70-113: cannot install Vista graphics driver and lines appears on the display

    Hello

I have satellite pro m70-113 with ati x 700 graphics card.

When I installed vista, he installed the default drivers for the x 700 'mobility radeon x 700-microsft Corp.-WDDM '.

I've updated the display drivers for vista, that released by toshiba 2 days back... but the driver is not updated to the latest version, only the catalyst control center is installed when I ran the update of the driver of toshiba.

The problem is that whenever I put my laptop in standby or hibernation and resume... the screen shows thin lines vertical/horizontal... and I can't use the laptop... and I have to still put the system to sleep, just to hope that it is not blocking the screen this time...

This problem is 25% of the time only when resume...

This problem is not resolved by the update driver for toshiba has released a few days back... as is not installs the drivers (I can't even install the drivers with the option "update drivers" of Device Manager and select file driver update from toshiba.) It says windows find new driver, but could not install the driver... Contact the manufacturer...)

This snap shows the problem... : http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/2783/12042007366copyod1.jpg

I updated the driver from an earlier version of catalyst, as it is downloaded from the ati site before that toshiba has released the update... this time it updates some 8. XXX version but the screen problem remains...

Second, this update of the driver leaves me not sleep my system... the process starts for a sleep, but go back to the locked screen without making sleep ever... so I have no choice to get stuck with the default Windows... drivers having only the problem of the screen... and not the problem of sleep...

    Anyone here with a solution?

    Thank you.

    Hello

I have Satellite M70-159 and I noticed the same thing several times. For most Vista works well but I don't remember cases in which the described problem occurs. I was just curious on M70 Vista and have had no time to intensive testing.

Anyway, it will be interesting to know if you have already updated the BIOS to the latest version 5.10. If this is not the case to do this and watch carefully if the problem persists.

  • Satellite Pro M70 and (not) working with projector

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro M70 (model PSM76E-00100KEN), and when I connect it to all a projector, it appears via the projector is the image of the office.

The laptop continues to work OK, but the projected image never changes the background image I have on the laptop.

On the power of the laptop Windows XP logo comes at a time, but then other changes of the display appear on the laptop.

It has ATI mobility Radeon X600SE graphics card. This card allows 2 screens and when I activate it it starts flashing number 1 on the cell phone and number 2 on the projector, but still shows only WinXP only on the laptop.

Any ideas on how to get the two to work together?
    Thank you

  • Satellite Pro M70-273: feature of the Express Media Player feature

Two weeks ago, I bought a Pro Satellite Toshiba M70-273 'Limited Edition' (?). The model number is PSM76E-00J00QDU, SPM76, model name, production date 2006-02-21. According to the specs I found in the online user manual or in a folder with the publication references
    «TEG October 2005, art.» N0. DSSSPM70 10/05NLBE', there is a 'Express media feature' 'on some selected models "...

It is not clear if yes or no, the model that I bought it. I have an of CD/DVD "button that I use to run my built-in dvd player (WinDVD for example), but it does not work as it appears as 'a disc standalone player' who plays a dvd (movie) without the need of Windows startup.

To watch the movie on dvd, after using the CD/DVD button, I start in Windows, the connection in Windows XP, and the office at startup, the WinDVD screen presents the film.

This isn't what I expect from a stand-alone dvd player. My old laptop has a 'dj function' with which you can play a cd without booting in Windows (or turning on the laptop), simply by pressing a special button on the front. What about the promised feature of the Toshiba Satellite Pro?

Is there a feature "Express Media Player" at all? How can I check if the function is provided? I used the provided configuration, the first time I used my laptop. I don't want to use the recovery CD provided unless it would be absolutely necessary to install this missing functionality.

    Hello

Yes. Some Toshiba models use a player Qosmio (Qosmio units) and some computers laptop Toshiba supports also the Media Express Player.

I downloaded the user manual of the Satellite Pro M70 and it seems that some laptop computers in this series come with the express media player. But unfortunately the Media Express drive was not installed and delivered with this laptop.

    Hey Buddy,

I think you need to install the proper drivers because the other recovery disk contains bad drivers. Simply visit the Web from Toshiba:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Also Toshiba you can t get a recovery disk. You will need to contact an authorized service provider.
