Satellite Pro P100-438 game stuttering

Hello world

I bought a Satellite Pro P100-438 (PSPAHE - 001001GR) with 2 GB of RAM in May 2007. I really took my time choosing the right laptop and the card game and the comments that I thought that it would be exactly what I wanted. As he had a numeric keypad, which is a must for me. I knew all the articles indicating that Vista would be detrimental to the performance, but I was willing to wait six months for driver issues and others to be decided. And a weaker performance in regards to a lower rate would not have been a problem.

Here again the stats of the platform:

Core 2 Duo T5500 2 x 1.66 GHz - 2 GB RAM - 160 GB HD - DVD +/-RW DL - NVidia GeForce Go 7900 512 MB - USB 802.11abg 2.0/FireWire/Modem/LAN/WLAN / Bluetooth - DVI - 5 in 1 card reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS Pro/xD) - 17 "WXGA + (1440 x 900) TFT - Windows Vista Edition Family Premium Li-Ion-battery - 3,20 kg

Now the problem is that all the 3D games (such as BioShock or the by now old Deus Ex - Invisible war) stutter. The performance seems to be all right, rates are usually fantastic even with the highest settings, but there are approximately every 3 seconds a stutter. Reduction of the graphics settings is not to solve the problem.

There seems to be a lot of people with similar problems with this all-3-second-stuttering around. Usually, I'm really good at 'fix' these problems with my computers. It usually includes surfing the forums, try many drivers video, drivers modded, installation of patches or just waiting for a solution from the manufacturer. ;)

Nothing has solved the problem so far. Here is what I tried:

-Different drivers: those most recent Tosiba March (which is pathetic!) to the most recent available at www.laptopvideo2go.com
-Different audio drivers for the Conexant Audio device high definition. They screw out of speakers and output, so I had to go back to drivers of Toshiba.
-Vista updates: all the patches that are recommended in various forums and any other vista automatically updated
-DirectX 9 .0c updates. Some said this could help because my card does not support DX10 and therefore should use DX9. Makes sense to me. DX10 seems to graphics engine so advanced being of the same Vista does not use it. Well, it was without success.
-BIOS update. I got stuttering with the preinstalled BIOS and now I use the newest one which is 4.00 for my laptop. Did not help.
-Disabling Vista Aero. Do not remove the stuttering, but gave a better framerate. But 100 fps or 105 fps was not the issue.

Some people say installation XP would solve the problem, but it is not a viable option for me since I don't own a Windows XP license.

Now I can't think of another solution, and honestly I think that it is not my task to arrive at a solution. I spent about 1400 Euro on the laptop and I would like to have is a decent customer service and the problem resolved. And if Toshiba is not able to solve it they should at least be able to point the finger the cause of the problem. Right?

But now I still have some hope left. Maybe someone reading this found the solution to my problem and can give me a hint, because I'm always willing to try some suggestions. :)

Can anyone help?

I think the problem is that the NVidia GeForce Go 7900 does not support the new DirectX10 but only the DirectX9.
The Vista operating system supports the new feature of DirectX10 and there might be a problem with the connection between Vista and Nvidia!

I noticed that this problem occurs only play games designed for Direct10X.

Like all the people here in the forum says, this strange game stuttering does not appear with XP installed.

> Some people say installation XP would solve the problem, but it is not a viable option for me since I don't own a Windows XP license.
I really put t see any other possibility to get rid of this problem install XP! As already mentioned it's nothing wrong with the laptop but with the Vista OS.

By the way; Have you tried to use the latest graphic on sites like; drivers

  • Blue boxes and Bluescreens when you feed up to Satellite Pro P100-438

    Hello

I own a Pro Satellite P-100-438 (PSPAHE - 001001GR). Yesterday, I tried to start a game, and shortly after, he froze, showed strange bluish rectangles and then a screen blue, followed by a reset.

Then the screen was full of blue shaded boxes in the nature of a grid as a layer of perfect finish. Even the start screen "Toshiba - contact tomorrow" has this box-grid layer.
From the login screen Vistas should appear, there is an another bluescreen: 0 x 00000050 Page Fault In Non-Paged area.

Now, I can only start the computer in safe mode.

I tried to restore the last configuration of windows work but that did not help. I tried to remove the display so drivers and fiddled with the parameter of startup in msconfig and at one point, I was actually able to get Vista running as usual without the blue boxes, but after awhile, I got another blue screen and since then, they have remained.

    Sometimes, there is an another screenshot as well: 0 x 00000116. nvlddmkm.sys - address 8C8149A0 base at 8 808000, DateStamp 4a9cdd24

And he said something 'Attempt to reset display driver and recover timeout failed.' as well.

    Any tips or suggestions?

    Hi again,

last night I checked if the problem might be related to overheating. But now I think that's not the problem. I removed some dust, but it wasn't really much. Accidents still happen.

Regarding the graphics bugs: this is the kind of a grid of blue boxes. But this isn't a perfect grid. Only a grid on the screen. I have a photo I will upload tomorrow. When I move the windows under the grate, it stays in place. Everything as it was somehow in the surface of the screen.

Maybe if the graphics card is broken? It is not the RAM. I removed one at a time, and it is not related to it.

Somehow check whether the graphics card? It's a Geforce Go 7900 GS.

The laptop is a Satellite Pro P100-438 (PSPAHE - 001001GR).

If I bought a replacement graphics card, might be able to buy a better? They're much cheaper than three years ago. Or which would mean too much consumption and amount of heat energy?

What are the cards would work?

    Best regards

  • Satellite Pro P100-327: Audio DVD stutters

    Hello everyone, and Merry Christmas.
Problem is that satellite Pro P100-327 won't play DVDs without stutter on audio. I tried playback preinstalled Windows Media Player, WinDVD and PowerDVD.

All have the same symptoms, so I think that the problem is actually with the audio.

Does anyone have any ideas or experience with this kind of problem?

    See you soon
    Martyn

    Hello Martyn

It is not easy to give a precise answer, but I suspect that it may be because of some unnecessary background processes running. No doubt, something is running in the background and the activity of the CPU to the extreme. I had similar problem and it was because of the running application antivir (scan disk HARD and almost at 100% CPU activity).

    Check this possibility.

  • Satellite Pro P100: I think that my graphics card is defective

I have a satellite Pro P100 with a GeForce Go 7600 and think that graphic design is faulty. I was playing a game that has good graphics and I was testing the FPS cause it was laggy.

On average, that a decent graphics card must be able to give an SPF of 20-29 but my geforce go overlooked 9-13, but I have a Satellite M60-164 before this laptop with a Mobility Radeon X 1700 graphics card and he played much better give me the range good fps. But maybe the Geforce could well be a bad card in general.

Is it possible to update the graphics in the P100? He says dedicated graphics card.

    Hello

first of all, no can´t you don't share your graphics card because the card is "wired" on the circuit board. With dedicated was he has it s own graphic memory and does not have a main RAM memory to use as graphics memory.

    Regarding your performance:
Would be interesting what operating system you are using. In the case of Vista, I understand why performance is not good, because vista requires so many resources that the rest of the apps/games would not get the necessary resources for the successful REALLY.
If you have Windows XP, then update your drivers, but use drivers on sites like:

http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ (2 GB LaptopVideo & NVIDIA Related News)
http://www.OmegaDrivers.NET/ (OmegaDrivers.net - home of the Omega Drivers for desktop/laptop ATI & NVIDIA cards)

because these drivers are almost on mobile systems, and they use the most versions of real driver of ATI and Nvidia.

Just try it and give some feedback.

    Welcome them

  • Satellite Pro P100: Need for new display drivers for NVIDIA Geforce Go 7600

    Hey there...

New problem. I just got the New Age of Conan game.
This game recommended that I upgrade my drivers for my gfx card, as the drivers I have are known to be unstable.
Now, I tried looking for these drivers on Toshibas as well as the NVIDIAs Web sites.
    No luck.

    My lappie information:

    [Information on PC]
    Model name Satellite Pro P100
    Part number PSPA4E-00U00KED
Version of the OS Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.1.2600 Service Pack 2

    Thanks in advance!

What to say the graphics drivers that are published on the Toshiba page are the latest graphic drivers available from Toshiba

If this driver is not compatible with your game, then the last resort might be a driver a 3rd party site.

These drivers may be used only at your own risk but using the 3rd GPU driver may cause overheating of the GPU chip.

    Welcome them

  • Can I increase the memory on my old Satellite Pro P100?

I have a Satellite Pro P100 (P6PA4E-002001EN) with only 512 MB of memory and the desire to know if it can be increased and if so what memory should I buy and it is easy to open the machine and adapt?

    Hello

You can increase the memory on this laptop amazing plu of 4 GB of RAM.

RAM modules compatible that you can use to upgrade:
    PA3511U - 1 M 51 (Kit of memory 512 MB DDR2-667)
    PA3512U-1M1G (memory 1 GB DDR2-667 Kit)
    PA3513U-1M2G (memory 2 GB DDR2-667 Kit)

Check the underside of your laptop and there should be probably set with a cover of Ram screw. Remove it and you will have access to the memory locations.

    Hello

    My laptop is a Satellite PRO P100-383 with a DVD burner MAT * a UJ-850 s.

The current firmware of my DVD writer UJ-850 s MAST * one is 1.10 and I can't write some DVD-R, because they are not recognized as DVD-R, but as a CD - R. I think it's just the firmware of DVD writer that is too old.
Is it possible to update this with new firmware please? because I found something in the download section for my laptop. Just drivers and BIOS of motherboard, but nothing on the MAT * an update of firmware UJ-850 s.

Thank you very much for your answer.

    Hi Philippe

In my opinion you shouldn't change something but use high quality blank DVD - R TDK or Verbatim.
Maybe you use some blank media cheap and without name.

Have you tested with known brands?

  • Satellite Pro P100 - 11(d) crashed and Linux does not load

    Hello.

I have a Satellite Pro P100 - 11(d) which have worked well since 2007 both with preinstalled Windows and Ubuntu last.

But... Yesterday, Firefox crashes, I thought, but after the restart it was not able to load Ubuntu desktop, comes from a command prompt.

I tried to reinstall the driver and xserver with no luck.
Tried to reinstall Ubuntu together, but it stops while loading of Ubuntu live.

Thought maybe, a hard drive crash so I want to wipe the entire hard drive and so reinstalled Windows, which wouldn't load after installation. Changed the hard drive to a WD250GB, but always the same - stop loading live Ubuntu and Debian and Meego...

Has a verified memory from the live USB of Ubuntu (before loading Ubuntu), no errors.
I have an idea that maybe the graphics, but it has no errors or defects to display install screens - graphics.

    Anyone have any ideas?

Oh, I had Ubuntu while loading, try checking the hard drive and what makes some mistakes, why I thought it might be a hard drive problem.

    Thanks in advance

    Hello

    What about another system? Windows?
Can you start and install Windows system using the Toshiba Recovery disk?

Generally speaking, it is not easy to say what has caused this problem
It may be related to no hardware, a part even if the HARD drive or memory error was not detected, one of these parties may malfunction
Worst case its something wrong with the motherboard but it s only a hypothesis.

  • Satellite Pro P100 - display 1440 x 900 upgraded to 1680 x 1050

    Hello

I have a defective Panel in my Satellite Pro P100. Model No.: PSPAHE - 001001GR.
    Currently, it is a sign of Lp171wx2 with a resolution of 1440 x 900.

I can change it for this Panel: LP171W02 with a resolution of 1680 x 1050?
Will it recognize kind of Plug-and-Play? Better resolution and running as before. Or does not recommend or not even possible?

Thank you very much in advance,
    Schwieger

    Hello

    I think he can.
I know that the different models of Satellite P100 were equipped with two type of poster:
17.1 inch, WXGA + (1, 440 x 900), color TFT display high brightness of amorphous silicon.
    17.1 inch WSXGA + (1 680 x 1 050), color TFT display high brightness of amorphous silicon.

I m not very good if you could use the LP171W02, but the laptop would certainly deal a 17.1 inches, TFT WSXGA + (1, 680 x 1 050).
You can also order a compatible part of a Toshiba ASP in your country.

    Hello

I just clean installed Win 7 Home Premium (64 bit) on a Satellite Pro P100 - 327 (PSPA4E) which was bought in November 2006. He was previously under XP. I never installed Vista, even if the laptop is Vista Capable badge.

I followed the recommended order of installation of the bios/driver/software Win 7 but I have now no sound at all. Everything I've tried so far has failed to fix.

The laptop has a Conexant based with harman kardon speakers audio solution. Win 7 installed the following driver, which brings the info.

High definition Audio Device (Microsoft Driver version 6.1.7601.17514 as of 11/19/2010) and status of the device: this device cannot start. (Code 10)

There is a second exclamation mark in device for a more Manager unknown device / uninstalled the device driver with an ID of ACPI\SMCB000 material (display code 28) but I don't know what is this device!

Anyone have any suggestions on a fix for my sound problem?

    Thank you!

    Martyn

ACPI\SMCB000 could be the infrared device.
Perhaps his need in order to use the remote control.

    I also looked for VEN_14F1 and DEV_5047
It seems to be the HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modm SmartCP of Conexant

Choose the touchpad Win 7 drivers out for a satellite L500 series.

By the way; the touchpad can be enabled and disabled by using the FN + F9 button combination. It is not necessary to have all the options if FN + F9 works very well.
