Satellite Pro P300-1ES (PSPCDE) - speed with W - LAN problem

Hello

just got my new laptop Toshiba (see subject). Unfortunately, I had a big problem with the W - Lan laptop speed.

Compared to my old laptop (satellite Pro A120, with a chip of WLAN Intel 3945) the new laptop (with a chip Atheros AR9281) scores only about 10% of the possible Internetspeed (approximately 1.5mbit compared to 0.1mbit!).

I am running Windows XP Service Pack 3 and tried to install the latest drivers for the card Atheros (7.6.0.200), newest Bios Version (version 2.50) and tried a few things on the forum (like disabling the option 'save energy' in the advanced driver options.) But speed has not improved at all and now I'm all ideas.

I'd appreciate it if someone could help me with my problem. Many thanks in advance,

TripleYou

Hello

As far as I know the standard WLan card Atheros AR5BXB91 supports the 802.11bgn WLan.

Check what WLan standard A, B, G or N to have been chosen in the
* Device Manager-> WLan card properties-> Advanced tab * and set it up again.

  • Touchpad on Satellite Pro P300 does not work with Windows 7

    Hello

Recently, I load Windows 7 (64-bit) on my Satellite Pro P300. I downloaded all the drivers for W7 64 bit and installed everything, fortunately, most of the time.

The touchpad, however, is not completely functional. The upgrade page says to use the Vista drivers and did not provide any drivers for win7. Installing the Vista drivers didn't really go so well.

In any case, the essential element of the missing features is this thing where you drag your finger up and down the right edge of the touchpad, and it scrolls for you. I can click and double click and move the slider. But I can't scroll. And it's such a pain with move the slider above the scroll bar of the application, with a big screen.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Satellite Pro P300 - BIOS upgrade to 64 - bit

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro P300 - 266 PSPCDE and I am very happy with him.

Since I have a WIN7 64 bit OS, ready to use and 8 GB of RAM I need to update the BIOS to 64-bit.

I found a WinPhlash file on the support site of Toshiba (toshiba - tro.de) bios called - 20090226124829.zip. I tried to use it as described in the Toshiba support on the use of WinPhlash (http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9502M10000R01.htm) page. Also, I made an exception for WinPhlash in the registry of the DEP.

    It still does not work.

Since I am a user knowing very mediocre modern computers I guess I'm doing something wrong or I can be monitor something... can anyone please help me upgrade my system to its full capabilities?

    Hello!

I have a Satellite Pro P300-145 and today I started noticing a noise of frying with my headphones. I tested my headphones in a different laptop and they sound good and if I play the same files with my speakers it sounds good too so I was wondering if you knew what could be the reason.

I have to say I kept the laptop doesn't work for quite a lot this weekend and he got more than warm so I dunno if that could be causing it in the first place.

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi Andunemir,

What operating system you are using? You use Windows or Linux?
In addition, it would be interesting to know if this happens only with headphones/external speakers or portable speakers internal too. You can test this please?

    > I have to say I kept the laptop doesn't work for quite a lot this weekend and he got more than warm so I dunno if that could be causing it in the first place.
The temperature of the laptop is enough depending on the applications that you are running. High CPU and graphic card use causes a higher temperature.

But it s also advised to clean the system at any time using a jet of compressed air. This can blow the dust from the cooling fans and the laptop is much cooler after that. I do it every 3 months because I use my laptop every day. If I do that, I followed these instructions:

  • Restore CD for XP in combination with double HDD on Satellite Pro P300

On my Satellite Pro P300, there are two hard drives, two 160 GB.
Currently, Windows Vista Professional is installed, as it was preinstalled.
On the first disc, there are 3 partitions, an EISA partition, a partition to boot Vista and a partition for HHDRecovery (contains the image for Vista product Recovery).

In Vista, there is an option for backing up the computer. This offers the ability to completely restore Vista to the situation at the time of the backup.
I did a full backup the first complete hard drive (partition 3) PC and saved on the hard disk of the second.

Now, I want to use the recovery provided product Toshiba for Windows XP to install Windows XP on the laptop.
I guess that the first hard drive will be completely crushed, but I don't know if the second disc will also be replaced.
Does anyone know if my data on the second drive will be lost when using the product for XP Recovery?

I want to keep the data on the second drive, because it gives me the option to restore the laptop to the situation with Vista without reinstalling/activate applications.
Also all my personal files are on this drive.

I doubt that installing XP should touch the 2nd HARD drive, but for peace of mind, you can temporarily remove the 2nd HARD drive before installing XP.

  • Satellite Pro P300 - 13 m - boot problem: black screen with 3 beeps

    Hello

Satellite Pro P300 - 13 m, I bought a few weeks ago and in time, I had about 5 - 6 times the same rear screen when I tried to start the system. When he does this notebook gives 3 loud beeps (not sure what that actually means).

When he does this I have to press the power button for 5 seconds and after several times doing this that it will show the Welcome screen toshiba... then sometimes it will automatically restart again and I get this annoying black screen again. Most of the time when I wait about 10 minutes and try to do as well the system starts as usual... Yes... very strange thing here.

To be honest, I don't want to send the laptop for Toshiba once again, as I could use for my business...

Then. What could this be? I've already updated the latest version of the BIOS.

    Thnx in advance

  • The new use of recovery of Windows XP with my q Satellite Pro P300-19?

I just bought a Satellite Pro P300-19 q with Vista pre-installed. I want to use Windows XP Professional instead and understand that I must use the DVD titled "Product development - Microsoft Windows XP Professional" supplied with the machine. To do this, however, the provided information sheet is not very useful when he says only: «you will have to load this...» »

My question is: How do I do it from running the disc in the DVD player, just reveals several files which none will get me nowhere?

    Any help would be welcome.

The recovery of Windows XP product disc contains an image of a Windows XP installation ready with all the drivers and tools.

Before installing Windows XP, you should burn the Vista recovery disk because if you want to restore Windows Vista you will need this disc. So, you can restore the computer back to wherever it was when you originally received.
So far as the recovery image (Vista) is only stored on the HARD drive and so you can burn it to a DVD:
Click on the Toshiba recovery disc creator and insert a blank DVD. Then follow the instructions on the screen. The recovery disk will be created.
You are now able to boot from this DVD and install Vista with all the drivers and tools (factory settings).

When you reinstall Windows with a recovery disk, the HARD disk will be reformatted and all data will be lost. This means that as other partitions so backup your data first.

If you are using Vista it s also able to restore the factory since the HARD drive settings. Therefore, the files are stored in the folder HDDRecovery.
So, if you want to put your mobile PC, press F8. Then you can see the menu and there advanced boot options, select repair your computer.
Follow the instructions on the screen and the laptop will also reinstall.
But don't forget, this (HARD disk recovery) feature is only available with Vista, not XP.

So if you understand this and burned the Vista recovery disk, you can start to install Windows XP.
Boot from the XP Recovery disk and follow the instructions on the screen. The installation of Windows XP does not have a lot of time and this procedure is similar to Vista. After installation you also have an installation with all drivers and Toshiba tools but with Windows XP of course.
This is the content of the Windows XP Recovery disk.

    Hello world

I have a problem with my laptop Satellite pro p300 PSPCDE: my OS is on my HARD drive (hdd1 with a ssd and hhd 2 is empty).

  • Satellite Pro P300-19 q - DVD player is constantly trying to access a drive

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro P300-19 q (PSPCDE-009005EN) with Windows XP. I'm having a strange problem where the DVD drive every now and then turns upward (flashing too) as if it attempts to access a disk. There is no disk in the drive.

    Any ideas?

It is not easy to say why this is happening.
As I see you are using Windows XP Home edition. Windows XP Home edition is installed as recovery Toshiba plant?
Has noticed this problem with the factory settings and clean installed OS?

Right now I can't imagine that it's a hardware problem. This read command comes obviously from somewhere. If some additional software may be responsible for this?

  • Satellite Pro P300-20 q - I need 64-bit XP drivers

    Hello.
    We are dealers Italians.

We, our customer bought a Satellite Pro P300-20 q PSPCDE-01V003IT, he needs 64-bit Windows XP to work.

We can not find the drivers for these devices:
Audio device on High Definition Audio (Conexant) Bus
    (AuthenTec) fingerprint sensor
    (Unknown) mass storage controller
Device modem on Bus High Definition Audio (Conexant)
For audio and modem we already tried the driver for XP on site support but not installed and report this error mmdriver.inf found c:\windows\system32\, even if this file is there.

For the fingerprint sensor package install just the software but not the driver because that missed the file: atswpdrv.sys. The file is not in the package.

For mass storage controller, none of the files of this laptop corresponds to this device.

Also: The electric driver for XP for the Alps touchpad in the support site does not work with XP 64-bit.
    Tips for solving these problems?

Thanks, hope to receive a reply soon because what is urgent.

    I thank once again.

Have you checked the European Toshiba driver download site?
Well, I think the case is clear. Support from Toshiba doesn't Windows XP 64 bit on all laptops and Satellite Pro P300 it s the same.
I think that's bad new for you.

The only solution is to search on the external Web site or on the site of the factory unit.
If you n t get all the drivers it s time to install another OS.

  • Satellite Pro P300-19 q and WXP downgrade

    Hi all

I need to buy a new laptop with windows XP on it. I was initially attracted by the Satellite Pro P300-19 q because of its ability to be downgraded to XP. However, I decided to do a quick serach first to see if someone had encountered problems and I saw a few posts where people are having problems with the wifi on them after decommissioning.

The Satellite Pro P300-19 q isn't my first choice of PC Toshiba laptop and if the downgrade xp disc is not very effective, so I'd probably rather use my own copy of xp and downgrade a portable me (as long as the drivers are on the Web site). Anyone had any experience with these Toshiba recovery DVD to downgrade?

    Thank you

    Hello

Satellite Pro P300-19 q belongs to the portable model PSPCDE and if you check download Toshiba and support under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com page, you will see that this model of laptop is taken WXP supported.

I don't know if you will get the recovery media of Windows XP Home edition with this laptop, but Toshiba offers all the necessary drivers, tools and utilities and you can install your own version of Windows XP Home edition.
You can ask your local dealer if the Windows XP Home edition recovery media is delivered with this media.
