Satellite Pro S500-10F: how to disable the fingerprint reader

We just purchased a portable Satellite Pro S500-10 which has the fingerprint reader. Does anyone know how we can disable this facility of the laptop, we do not remove program only disable the installation.

Thank you

You can disable it in Device Manager. If it's not ideal, I guess you could send the laptop to an ASP to have the fingerprint reader physically disconnected.

How can I disable the fingerprint reader when it is docked and still use it when undocked?

    Thanks for your help

    Hello

As far as I know that something like this is not possible.
Following this logic, it will be possible to have access to protected files when the laptop is on docking station.

Either you use fingerprints or not.

  • Satellite Pro S500-14Z - how to access the BIOS?

    Hello

on the Satellite Pro S500-14Z I can´t access the BIOS via F2 and can´t change the bootpriority through F12. By pressing F2 or F12 during startup, the S500 beeps and restarts. When you first start, I had access to the Bios and set the password and active supervisor module TPM. Since I have no access to the BIOS before Windows starts. Is there another key to access bios (I tried ESC, DEL, F1, INS) or how can I change the pw supervisor (I know my real password!) and disable the TPM?

    Thank you

    Hi karlS_1,

Normally you can access the BIOS if you press F2 before Windows starts. It works with an external keyboard?

You can change some settings in the BIOS using Toshiba HWsetup. This tool is preinstalled on your laptop and you can change the order of boot with this tool.

    Nedd your help! : D

    Hello

Just checking the system do you mean exactly?
Is this based on Windows or BIOS based?

If you mean the ScanDisk in Windows startup you can disable it in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Session Manager
Change the BootExecute entry to: autocheck autochk *.

After that restart the ScanDisk is disabled and doesn't appear at Windows startup.

  • Satellite Pro S500-10F - cannot reinstall the operating system

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro S500-10F provided with Windows 7 Professional with downgrade rights (and DVD) to XP Pro. I downgraded to XP Pro and everything worked fine (I did it on a number of similar machines).

Then Windows started to have problems and crashing with BSOD. I decided to rebuild the machine to reinstall Windows XP Pro from DVD supplied with the machine. The thing is it gets 2% and then gives the BSOD.

I thought it was the hard drive because there was some disk errors when it removed and put it outside of another machine, so replaced. Still the same problem. I tried to connect external USB DVD drive and boot from that. He did indeed start the external drive but then for some reason, try to copy the files of its own DVD player. I tried to reinstall Windows 7 Pro of the DVD to the top together, I created, this failed. I tried to install Windows XP Pro since version box and have failed.

At this stage do not know if DVD player or what. He tried to build start player flash, but even if the system seen as boot option, then tried to boot from the network?

    Any help much appreciated.
    Thank you

    Hey Buddy,

To be honest I put t think that it is what you can do. You have tested the recovery disk and a new HARD drive, but the same happens. So that would mean it's hardware related problem.

TOSHIBA recovery disk contains an image pre-tested all drivers and tools. This means that you can still install Windows recovery disc and it will work. If it's not (like in your case) it something wrong with the hardware.

If your laptop is still under warranty valid, you can bring it to a service provider allowed in your country and guys can fix this for free because of the guarantee. Get in touch with technicians and explain your problem, they will sort it out for you. ;)

Please follow the steps as indicated below to solve the problem

    Disable the biometric identifiers:

    Delete the biometric login option:

Control Panel > biometric devices > change biometric parameters

Uncheck the BOX "Allow users to log on to Windows using their fingerprints"

    Save the changes.

To remove the biometrics data for all users, click the option button (round) "off biometrics.

    Clear validity sensor driver:

Validity sensor driver controls the fingerprinter material.

SimplePass software manages the password database.

You can disable the device.  The fingerprinter work not long until the device remains disabled.

Control Panel > Device Manager > biometric devices > right-click on Validity Sensor > disable

  • HP ENVY 17 G0U21AV - is there a way to disable the fingerprint reader?

    I use a HP ENVY 17 G0U21AV 8.1 Windows.

This model came with a fingerprint reader in the lower left corner of the computer. Although this seems to be a nice feature, it is not one that I plan on using (I use LastPass to my passwords). I keep my Palm on the scanner that will bring to the top of the screen for HP SimplePass accidentally part traffic. This can come from the most inopportune moments, and it can become quite annoying always trying consciously avoid the fingerprint reader.

Is it possible to disable the fingerprint reader?

    Thank you.

    @DSWJoshua,

Thanks for posting. You can disable the fingerprint reader. For completeness, I'll give you steps to disable the driver itself and the biometric support, so you should not worry about this later.

To disable the driver, go to control panel, then Device Manager. Expand biometric devices. Right-click on the sensor of validity and uninstall it.

To disable biometric support, go to the Control Panel, biometric devices then. Uncheck allow users to log on to Windows using their fingerprints, and then save it.

  • Pavilion dv7 6051ea: how to get the fingerprint reader works on Windows 10

Just upgraded to Windows 7 Pro for Windows 10 Pro. The fingerprintreader has stopped working. I find the possibility to set up, but the installation is grayed out as long as no driver available. Can't find one on any forum support? Anyone else having this problem and sorted it please?

On August 11. I've been running Windows 10 updates on a daily basis since the upgrade and now after a reboot of the fingerprint reader has started working? and remembered my impression as well. I guess that Microsoft dropped in a fix for this (which works for me) then maybe something to try?

  • How to fix the fingerprint reader of the problems of compatibility with WIN 7 Sony Vaio VGN-SZ260P

The fingerprint reader does not work on my laptop Sony Vaio VGN SZ240P since I've updated from Windows XP.  There must be a problem somewhere online.  Everyone fell on this problem yet? And if so how do solve you this problem?

    Hello Jason,

This will be a little problem. The only available fingerprint driver is for XP, the operating system on this computer comes with. There is a driver at this location: http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNSZ240P&upd_id=2134&os_group_id=13 which works on Vista with "loss of functionality.

So, if you have a 32-bit Windows 7 system (it will not work in a 64-Bit environment) do the following: download the XP / Vista driver and install it. Once its installed go to the program icon or the file itself and right click on it, selecting Properties in the window that opens. When the new window opens, go to the top row of tabs and select the Compatibility tab. When that shows check the box run in compatibility and mode in the drop-down list that appears, select Windows 7. Then select Apply and after that finishes select apply to all users. That brings up the same menu for all users - check the compatibility in the Windows 7 box, click on apply, then click OK and click OK.

If something does not work as I've described, post here with details and I'll try to work through it, with you. Let me know if this solves the problem for you.

    Kind regards

  • Portege R200: How to reset the fingerprint reader?

Hi, I got a damaged probably fixable Portege R200 (no, it's not stolen, legitimate sales). The machine does not start in its current state. If I fixed and find the fingerprint reader enabled, is it possible to erase it and start again (I'm not interested in the contents of the existing drive, I'm happy to format and reinstall a new OS image)

Referring to the Toshiba are OK if that's what it takes, but I don't want to buy and spend more money if it is completely non-recoverable because of the safety lock fixing. Any advice or info much appreciated

    Thank you

    Hello

To the extent where I knew the Omnipass Fingerprint Reader utility is responsible for this security.
This software is to be found in the control panel.
You can add and remove profiles (user) and set the settings to encrypt/decrypt the contents of the hard drive.

In my opinion he has no influence on the process of starting...

  • Satellite Pro L50 - a: how to replace the memory, HARD drive and battery

I just uploaded 2 new video from Youtube on the L50 - A. Satellite Pro

The first is a tear down showing how to replace the memory, hard drive and battery (you can also clean the fan if it detects overheating).

    http://www.YouTube.com/watch?v=IG0lW7t92bI

BTW why they made it so difficult to get just to the battery in this model?

WARNING - proceed at your own risk and don't forget static precautions!

Hope they help and if you have any questions let me know.

Thanks for these videos. It may be useful to replace the memory, but I think that the owners of the laptop should not open the case. This may void the warranty.
    Be careful about this.
