Satellite PSKACE L855 - screen brightness is not editable

I have installed new Win 7, have postinstalled all Toshiba drivers.
The display brightness can be put on the FN keys or on the Windows menu. Thanks for your help!

According to tender specifications your L855 shipped with WIN7 64-BIT HOME PREMIUM so I put t understand what you did exactly. Why install the other version of the OS?
In any case, I just hope that you created the recovery DVDs until you have deleted the original preinstalled OS.

Have you installed the driver on the right poster? Check it please in Device Manager?

Some power management features do not work after a bios update (5.90).
The display brightness can be changed in the power manager, or the top menu system. In the power manager, the cursor can be moved, but the brightness is not set. Toshiba menu system appears to hang on trying to change the brightness with F6 - F7 and won't move the cursor.

In addition, the screen does not turn off after the set amount of minutes in the power manager.

What is going on? How can this be repaired?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

Some questions; Why you have updated the BIOS?
Are you sure you used the right BIOS?

In my opinion you shouldn't t to update anything if the laptop works properly!

However, try to access the BIOS, set the default settings and save the settings before exiting the BIOS.
If this does not help, I would pick up the laptop with the Toshiba Recovery CD.

    Hi @weiwei17,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems with the help of the community!

I stumbled upon your post on the laptop and wanted to help you! I looked in your question about your computer laptop 14-ac014tx HP and questions with your upgrade to Windows 10. Try to use the Windows Update Troubleshooter to fix the problem.

Here is a document that shows how update the drivers that do not work correctly with Windows 10.

HP has worked closely with Microsoft on developing for Windows 10. Currently there is no driver available for your system. You can try and check at a later date, because I see new drivers all the time.

Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant, if you need it. Simply download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that may need updating.

I came across your post about the brightness of the display and wanted to help!

Try searching for the Device Manager in the Start Menu.  Then expand the monitors section and see if you have an option for Generic PnP monitor.  If so, do a right-click on him and generic PnP monitor enable, if not already.  Now, check to see if you can adjust the brightness.  If you're still having problems, then try to see the following resource and let me know how it goes:

  • Satellite U840-10V - screen brightness problem

    Hello
I own a U840-10V laptop and I have a little problem with my screen brightness from the first day I got it.
The fn keys work correctly. When I press the button Fn + F2 or F3 I see small panel brightness adjustment, but values 1,2,3,5,6 and 7 (except 4) seem to have the same level of brightness (the 4th is darker).

(I had problems with my backlit keyboard as well, but when I reset the defaults in the bios it worked perfect...)

so is that what someone knows how can I fix?

I reinstalled the PVAT to a newer version which was suitable for my laptop and windows7 - 64 bit, on the toshiba support site, but I haven't worked out.

so if anyone can help me I would love...

    Thank you...

    Which is really strange.
It works correctly when you change the brightness level in the plan directly to settings?

Update on the screen brightness controls; went into the BIOS and reset on off action keys.

Restarted and there was no change.

I then uninstalled the drivers for the monitor and rebooted and the brightness setting now works again.

  • Satellite L850-1FF - screen brightness hurt returning to record

I am the owner of a Satellite L850-1FF (lots of gfx mem)

Toshiba has enabled keyboard software tool that allows me to set the brightness to help
FN + F2 + F3 to display darker or lighter.
    It works very well.

    BUT.

If I close the lid (so the computer goes into power saving) and reopen the lid, the curriculum vitae of windows - the brightness is at max, or near max. The Fn + F2/F3 does not work. He just openes the view menu of the keys which is no setting - BUT does not work.

Obviously, guessing a bug in Toshiba graphics card, or the keyboard driver adjust brightness tool.

I wish I could restart the tool to see if that helps, but don't have any idea what program exe file it is.

Toshiba - when will fix you this bug?

    I am very angry.
I have to close all programs and restart windows now to make it work again.

    Greetings,
    Johan

I assume that by virtue of being able to save, you mean standby, right?

After waking from stand-by, can you change brightness level using parameters in some diet plan?

It is not easy to say what can be the problem, but if you can change it in Windows power plan but not the keys of F I guess the problem is Toshiba specific tool.

Otherwise, when you set the brightness level in Windows power management, it should not be changed after waking from sleep. That's what confused me.

Can you please change the power management, set the brightness level and test standby? The same thing happens again?

  • Satellite P200D - black screen and does not just by running

    Hello everyone, I have a Toshiba Satellite P200D - 107 PSPBLE with configuration set-aside:

    Processor: Turion x 2 TL - 52 64-bit clocked at 1.6 Ghz
    Display: 17.3 inch
Graphics card: Ati radeon x 1200
    RAM: 2 x 512 MB ram (1 GB total) which I upgraded to 1 x 2000 MB and 1 x 512 MB (for a total of 2.5 GB)
OS: FACTORY CD WINDOWS VISTA HOME PREMIUM 32-BIT
Power: Running on the direct power without the battery cable

Although the pc is quite old sound fundamentally new barely there 1 year of normal use on it.

    PROBLEM:

The screen goes black (no), even if the screen still has the backlight running, the laptop is still under tension, but its basically in a kind of deep hibernation with the fan running yet.
The laptop screen turns off 5-10 minutes after windows loads, even if in idle, it also stops during installation of the operating system.
I tried to run the music and the music stops when the screen goes black made all the hard disk activity which I believe indicates that it is not related to the video chip.

    TRIED SO FAR:

    1. open up the computer laptop and cleaned all dust processor, now CPU temp is 50 max, even for hard disk
    2. update the bios to the original to 1.70 - did not help
3 connected external monitor also stops it the same time as the laptop screen indicating it is not not a screen issue
    4 reinstall OS several times
5 tested memory with memtest64 - no error
    6. test the hard drive with hddregenerator - no error

    What I've noticed:

If I leave just a 512 MB of ram in the laptop then the laptop stops not at all even in windows applications, tried to launch a game to remove video card and it works without problem for hours, but as soon as I add the stick of 2 GB or another origianal 512 stick it will go inside the black screen 5-10 min (or earlier) to get into windows.

He never stops in dos mode (as in memtest, hddregen) even with 2.5 GB of ram.

After that the screen goes black, if I stopped and then try to save, it it won't work at all, the screen stays black with the fan spinning and boot CD, I must absolutely disconect the power cord power and re - set before it starts again.

Anyone has any ideas, I am experienced with the pc, but have never stumbled upon something so weird that I have just can't explain this problem that came straight from heaven.

Toshiba to wake up, this forum is a total joke, you would think that you would be able to afford hiring a bunch of technicians to actually help people rather than rely on the users of the forum to do your work for your, you don't need to have a forum, if you don't have the staff to actually help people solve their problems.

  • Re: Satellite L655-19 - screen promblem or not

    Hello.

Two weeks ago, that I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite L655 - 19(d) to private use. At the beginning I do not pay attention to the quality of the screen image. But now, even remotely from the meter, I see that the distance between pixels. That's all just huge. It is particularly visible on dark colors Blue or light blue.

On my old, stirred up Acer laptop, the image is much softer and grid between the pixels is invisible. Certainly, I can see pixels on my old laptop, if watch closely for a long time. From there, the question is a problem of a matrix of my new Satellite L655 - 19(d) or Toshiba ceased maintenance of product quality?

    Hi Valentin

It is good that you want to discuss your new laptop and this strange problem with laptop computer s display, but how to understand all this. None of us does not see what it looks like and say: it of OK or not.

So my only advice to you is to follow: return to the store where you bought it and clarify this with your local dealer. If you are not happy trying to bring him back or ask if you can exchange it for the new laptop.

I put t really know what to say. I mean two weeks you work on it and you suddenly see some pixel problem. Sorry, but it's strange to me.
What you can try is to reinstall the recovery image and check with the factory settings.
I put t see no alternative for you.

  • Screen brightness will not change

Greetings.  I have the model SVE14A35CXH.  A new problem has arisen today: I can't set my screen brighntess.  It does not solve with manual controls (i.e., using the function key, or by accessing the settings of the bar charms, or by the 'Power Options' Control Panel).  Moreover, I observe without changing the brightness of the screen during the occultation/increase in ambient light, despite the fact that I have activated in the VAIO Control Center of automatic detection of brightness.  I am running Windows 8.1, and all of my updates seem to be current.  I would be grateful for any suggestion.  Thank you!

    Hi cjwinchell,

How about turning off auto brightness in Vaio Control Center then manually changing the brightness? It work? Please provide us with the information we provide the correct solutions. Thank you!

  • Satellite R25 Tablet screen - brightness Horizontal gradient - problems

    Hi all

I have a strange problem with my screen. When I use two brightness levels lower my screen isn't constantly bright he has degraded landscape. Research on the left side, I have very dark screen, near Middle there is the normal brightness after dark Middle again and in the form of o end/right side is clear.

This anomaly is smarter than on two lower levels of brightness, when I want to extend my battery life.
I was replacing my Windows XP, but without any positive results.

The screen must be replaced, or y at - it another way to fix it?

I'm afraid that it is material. I can't say with certainty that the display is faulty but if bring you the technician can test it with special diagnostics tools.
As you can see fresh OS installation didn't help and he can't be software problem. Sorry, but I don't think there is anything you can do alone to fix. If possible continue to use display with acceptable light level.

  • Satellite A300 - black screen, Win7 is not booting

I was working on my Toshiba A300 when suddenly Microsoft Security Essentials detected a threat, after cleaning it asked me to restart my laptop, after restart, it shows only the TOSHIBA screen with F2 and F12 options, but after that, else nothing happens. There is only a black screen, not even a cursor or anything like that.

Nothing else happens, I tried to insert Win 7 bootable disc to repair the operating system, but my laptop does not seem to start through the drive, I checked the boot order in the BIOS settings, but still nothing, it does not accept the disk/USB nothing at all, it is not even go into safe mode by pressing F8 key continues to beep when I press any key regularly , I'm stuck & useless what to do, kindly help.

It seems that the system on the HARD disk has been confused upwards and you will need to reinstall new OS.

    > I tried to insert Win 7 bootable disc to repair the operating system, but my laptop does not seem to start through the disk
Insert the floppy disk. Then power on and press F12. Now, choose ODD (optical disc) as the boot device and press ENTER.

The laptop boot from the CD?
If this isn't the case, you should check if the laptop could start from any other bootable disk. This is necessary because you need to know if his problem of disk problem drive or an optical disc.

  • Satellite A660-10W screen saver does not display

    Nice day.

My screen saver, power saver, screen dimmer, etc. will come not on the same when I change the wait time, etc. and save the settings.
I have a Magic Jack hooked up all the time to one of the USB ports - could it be the cause does not activate the Saver screen or could it be something in the McAfee Anit-virus, anti-spyware system cause?

    Thank you in advance.

    Hello

Usually the screen saver appears if you would not touch the keyboard, the touchpad or mouse for awhile.

I didn t know the magicJack but I googled a bit and it seems that this device that plugs into a USB port provides a standard phone jack RJ-11 in which any standard phone can be connected.
This might be the reason, but that's just a guess

But check the screen saver timeout settings:
This will change the timeout of screensaver for all users
-Open the Local Group Policy Editor (type gpedit.msc in the search)
-In the left pane, click on to expand user, administrative templates, control panel and customization
-In the right pane, right-click on the screen saver time-out and click on change
    -Select enabled
-In the Options, select or how many seconds must elapse in order to launch the screensaver
-Click OK and close the editor.
-Restart the device and check if this work.
