Satellite T135D - cannot detect wireless networks

I bought a T135D early January.
Everything was happy until one day my laptop decides it cannot detect wireless networks, and even less to connect to one.
I don't think the T135 came with a manual switch, while in the BIOS it says it's on.

The graph with the antenna and 4 bars charge is no longer at startup, or the light that lights up on the front of my laptop. It's frustrating to have this kind of problem so early in the game with the T135D.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello

The wireless network must be activated by pressing the FN + F8 key combination.
Have you tried that?

If not, please check it

Of course, you must make sure that the WLan card driver is always up to date.

  • Intel WiFi Link 5100 network card - cannot detect wireless networks

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-1270us. My wireless card is an Intel WiFi Link 5100.

Running Windows Vista 64 bit, Ubuntu Linux, Linux Mint and Fedora Linux (various versions, all), the wireless works fine. My desktop computers to work with wireless cards to connect to the network work very well, and all computers (except mine) to connect to my home network very well; which means that it is not a problem with wireless networks, or with my network card. I try to manually connect to the network, but it can't find it. Diagnosis requires that the card is disabled, and that I should turn it on via the switch on my laptop running: fact.

During the installation of Windows 7 64 bit, I cannot see wireless networks (and therefore unable to connect). Re-formated and reinstalled again, check the wireless connectivity between each batch of Windows Update, but it has never worked.

I downloaded the latest drivers from Intel, via Microsoft Compatibility Center (version 15.2.0 driver).

There is no system restore option because he has never worked as a first step, except in all other OS, I got on the computer. Microsoft Compatibility says the map is compatible, then Device Manager shows no problems. The network adapter is active via switch on my laptop.

Happy that you guessed it sorted!

Please I really need help, how do I get my laptop to detect the wireless network. If someone could give me a few steps to do, please.

Most laptops have a switch that turns the wifi radio on or off.  Often, it is a combination of the Fn key and one of the F keys.  It may be a physical switch somewhere on the laptop.  See your manual for details.

    If this isn't the problem...

What is the brand and model of your router?  Almost all wifi routers also have at least one Ethernet port, you can connect your computer to the router with an Ethernet cable and download the right driver for your http://www.asus.com/support wireless card
Have you tried to "Roll back driver" in the "Driver" tab of your adapter wifi 'properties' in Device Manager?  At the very least, determine which version of the driver is installed, and compare that to the current version on the asus support site.

    Hello

If everything checked OK wise network, and you have mentioned before: ' sfc/scannow' in the command as administrator prompt and it said "windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to trouble".

It is perhaps that some kernel files are corrupted and cannot be updated.

    Refresh the Installation of XP.

To be safe, back up your data and some special stuff to a flash drive.

    ----------------------------------

Boot from the original XP CD. Pass the first screen offering Console repair and proceed as if you install a new XP.

After accepting etc., the new Setup screen lights up and would detect the current XP installation.

You have an option to press R to repair.

Use it, would take about 45 min. and you would an Installation of XP refresh all by keeping your Application, data and XP configuration.

P.S. If you have made changes to the WinXP definition (special permission as firewall) security to look on them after the update because they could go back to the default value.

    Hi Leila,

What is the brand and model of the computer?

This problem occurs because the Windows operating system does not automatically recover when a WPA2 ad hoc network connection times out. A time-out may occur if one of the following conditions is true:

    • Windows Vista or Windows 7 detects no activity.
    • There is a charge of busy network traffic.
    • Network device drivers are outdated.

    Method 1:

Run the network troubleshooter, and update the driver wireless on the manufacturer's Web site.

A missing IMEI is a fatal error which cannot be set. This is usually the result of the attempt to jailbreak or hack the phone unlock illegally, but not exclusively.

Trying to help a friend with their laptop!  It's a Lenovo R61i laptop model A 8932, 54, around the age of 16 months.  WIN/XP SP3 is the only OS.  He was working on this wireless network until they are gone on vacation and tried to connect to public wireless networks! Their daughter portable computer continues to operate properly with this wireless network, and it also shows the neighborhood wireless networks as well.  The R61i has a built-in 'Pro\wireless Intel 3945ABG Network ' wireless wireless adapter.

Connectivity and internet access works very well through the ethernet port.

Here's what I've done so far:

He has Norton AV.  I made sure that it was up to date and then ran a full system scan.  It was clean.

Any help will be appreciated, and I WILL ANSWER about the results!

Windows Update ran (after I got it work - see below) for all critical updates.

Fact a "repair" on the wireless connection with these results:

    • Wireless networks detected
    • No wireless networks were found in range
    • Windows could not finish repairing the problem because it is impossible to perform the following action: connect to the wireless network

That when the laptop is 5 feet of the wireless router.  It is a Dlink
Updated the driver from Lenovo web site by the support of the Intel boards:

    • former pilot was 11.1.1.11
    • new driver is 12.4.0.21 with a date of 04/03/2009

Went into the BIOS and reset the BIOS to its original, saved and reloaded settings.

Checked the Device Manager.  Everything looks OK, no yellow or red devices

Remove the network card and let Windows re - create.

Disabled and enabled the network card

Check the event logs.  The only entrance is on the system log.  I don't know if this event log entry is significant or not, but it's here:

The laptop has a 3-year extended warranty and I'm about to throw it in the face of Lenovo as a hardware error.  The thing that blows my mind is 'Detected wireless networks' followed by 'no wireless networks were found in range ".

    Hi Shawn

Thank you for your help.  Here is the final solution to this problem.

The "clean boot" you suggested worked as described, but it had no effect of awareness of wireless networks.  Ditto to start in "Safe Mode with network.  We took the laptop to Office Depot; They basically ran the same tests that I did, with the same results.  Their technology has managed to get it to connect to Wireless store by manually setting, but it would not show under 'view available networks '.  He suggested that we call their 800 support number.  The only novelty with that phone support guy came was to "Ping 127.0.0.1" which I don't think inherent in the wireless somehow.  He wanted me to call Comcast to check the internet connection.  Under the principle of "do not create a new problem while you're working on a problem", I resisted to go here as two other computers work fine on this connection from Comcast.

We finally opted for a full charge of Windows.  This included a blue key on the laptop at boot to bring up "Rescue and recovery", then by specifying 'Restore my hard drive to the original factory condition' and "don't save all files" - we have previously saved the contents of "My Documents" on a USB key.  This charge really don't take as much time as I thought he might; only about an hour.  Most importantly - WIRELESS NETWORKS APPEAR NOW; and connect as it should!  We had to apply SP3 as reloading he brought back to SP2 status.

I guess the lesson here is that sometimes he just reload Windows is the shortest possible solution to some of these mysterious problems.

I had a hard time to convince me it was a hardware problem, when the system detects wireless networks but are simply not them!

    Thanks again for your help.

The problem I have now is that when I try to connect it said "Windows could not connect. He also says in the settings of cards tab my wireless adapter is "authentication attempt.

    Hi Tatiana,

    ·         Have you tried to install the drivers from the manufacturer's Web site?

    ·         Have you checked if the network card works on another computer?

Download drivers card network from the manufacturer's website and check manually.

    http://www.TRENDnet.com/downloads/list_subcategory.asp?SUBTYPE_ID=1353

Alternatively, you can deal with this problem due to security software. I suggest that disable you the security like anti-virus and firewall software and check if the problem persists.

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Call the helpline for the manufacturer of your network adapter. It is likely that neither Windows nor the router have problems, it's just a matter of getting the configuration on both put in place settings to work properly together. The manufacturer of the router will be the best resource to learn how to configure their device.

  • Re: Satellite L450-173 - unable to detect wireless networks

I have a similar problem with my satellite L450-173.

I bought this laptop without OS and installed win 7.
I found and downloaded the latest drivers toshiba WLAN support and download page and my Device Manager indicates that the device is turned on and that it works correctly.

However, I am unable to detect the networks without wire in the box (alltough there are at least three in the district).
I have a home network with the router. When I connect to my laptop with a LAN cable, it connects automatically without problem. But I can not connect via my wireless connection.

Windows troubleshooting is of no use.
I downloaded the chipset drivers updated too (following the suggestion by an online forum), but which did not help at all.
My "doctor Conectivity" reported that my wlan adapter is 'on', but when I enter the 'Radar' option, it reports that this wireless network device is disabled. I tried to disable and then enable once again, but it did not help. I also used the option reset address IP - no use. My IP address is set to auto because my network is connected by the router.
I tried pressing FN + F8 but I have not noticed any change.

Indicator LED for a wireless connection at the front of the laptop is always red.
I read many forums linking similar issues to win 7, but I have not found any solution.

    Any ideas?

    Hello

Eventually the WiFi network is disabled and so you cannot connect to the Wlan router.
If the FN + F8 does not change the status of WLan, then it would mean that Don t FN buttons work properly have you checked if the other FN keys work?

You must reinstall the VAP (value added package) to obtain the keys FN working again
If you want to use the Fn + F8 then you should see (flashcard) WLan icon on the screen

    Another idea;
You can toggle the wifi in the Device Manager-> card Wlan-> properties-> Advanced tab.
    Check this box

PS: If the BIOS is not updated, then you need to update it too!
