How can I check Trusted Platform module is present or not?

    Hello

The TPM module (trusted platform module module) configuration is done in the BIOS Setup program, and this feature is available only with certain models.

I put t know if the U200-181 is favorable or not, but you can check it out yourself.
Safety controller parameters should be available in the system BIOS Setup on the second site.
If the device supports the TPM module, you should see the switch to enable or disable this security option. Generally according to the default TPM module is disabled.

  • How can I see the amount of cycles of battery on the Satellite U200-181?

I have Satellite U200-181, and I use it hard, each. I want to be ready replace my battery, when he has 400 cycles.
How can I see the amount of cycles of battery on my laptop?

You shouldn't see this. You will see that the battery capacity goes down and will be empty shortly after. No one says that you will be able to use the 400 battery cycles only. You may be lucky and the battery will be more long service life.

My Tecra M1 is about 4 years old and still works with the original battery.

Your question is quite unusual and I am really interested about new comments.

  • How to reset the password on the Satellite U200-181?

    Greetings!

    Sorry for my English.
I have laptop Toshiba Satellite U200-181 and all documents of (check, guaranteed).
When the computer starts, it asks to enter the password of the BIOS... I called in the service center in Russia, but they told me that they have no response Codes

I have PC Serial No.. and challenge the Code... What I need to do now? I don t want to pay $ 70 for reset password... Please help :)

    Best regards, Sergey

    Hello Sergey

Please don't be crazy about me, but you don't understand how it works. To reset the BIOS Center Toshiba password control needs code given by your laptop model. Shortly after, they send a new return code and after you enter this code, that the BIOS password is removed.

Allowed only in your country service provider can contact Toshiba control center and service just to get back the information. With short words: private person like you have no chance to remove the BIOS password. I hope you understand why it. If this is not the case, let me know that I'll explain.

Sorry, but you need to call the service.

  • Satellite U200 - 181 built-in HDD ERROR

"Toshiba Satellite U200-181", I bought 2 weeks ago. Recently (2-3 days ago) I have problem with built-in HARD drive.

So the problem is that sometimes I get the "Built-in HARD drive ERROR" message when starting the laptop. This integrated "Disk ERROR" message appears from time to time and the system shuts down the HARD drive starts, but can start from other bootable devices. First time where the built-in "Disk ERROR" message took place, he was accompanied by a lot of strange pop sound beating from the inside of the laptop. All others

"HARD disk ERROR" messages were not so strong and strange beating pops, but always with some pop sounds (not as strong as the premiere).

To identify possible problems, I saved S.M.A.R.T. data log (see annex 1).

Additional information: after I bought the laptop I ve made successful update BIOS version 1.40 version 1.50 strictly according to Toshiba site official instructions. After BIOS upgrade system works well, no ERRORS, no exceptions. But 3 days ago I received the message"built-in HARD disk ERROR '."

    Any ideas? Thank you.

  • Satellite U200-181. Slow touchpad on Linux

I use two operating systems on my Toshiba Satellite U200-181.

They are: MS Windows XP Home and Debian GNU Linux (stable) Etch.

MS Windows XP, the touchpad features work very well, but there are problems under Linux:

-by typing on the touchpad surface is emule not left button pressing as it does under MS Windows.

Can someone help me configure the touchpad so that it works under Linux than under MS Windows.

  • Satellite U200-115: how to reach the return key on the keyboard

    Hello.

I recently bought a Satellite U200-115 and have a quick question. I was typing earlier today and I accidentally eliminated one of the keys to its position. I then spent the last 3 hours trying to attach it to the laptop.

I was just wondering if the mechanism of how the keys are placed on the base of the keyboard has a special technique to be applied on the keyboard?

The key is divided into three parts, and it looks like not to I broke one of these parts but im having rear attatching boredom. I would be grateful for any help you are able to provide.

    Michael

    Hello

AFAIK there is no special technique. You simply press plastic key. It will click and the key will be placed as before.

  • Can I insert disc HARD 160 GB in Satellite U200-181

    Dear friends!
If I insert disc HARD 160 GB laptop Toshiba U200-181?
    Version 3.40 BIOS

    Thank you!

    Hello

Hmmm, comment of the snipe is not 100% good.
If the size of the HARD drive is not supported BIOS does not recognize the HARD drive!

I think you could use a HD up to 120 GB, but I'm not sure of the larger sizes.
You should really examine it until you buy one.

    Hello

Have you checked the Panel-> graphic Manager Intel?
Usually, it takes an option which allows you to rotate the screen.

There are also combinations of keys that should work too:
Turn to normal: CTRL + ALT + UP
    Rotation 90 °: CTRL + ALT + LEFT
Rotate 180 degrees: CTRL + ALT + DOWN
Rotation of 270 degrees: CTRL + ALT + RIGHT

  • Satellite U200-181 - Ubuntu 9.10 does not recognize full 4 GB of RAM

I have ubuntu 9.10 with the 64-bit kernel, but system see only 3.2 GB of memory.
    BIOS display 4096MB!

    Hello!

Normally if the BIOS shows the full 4 GB of RAM, the modules are recognized properly and in this case it s a Ubuntu problem I think.

Have you checked how much RAM Windows poster? But you need a 64 bit version of Windows to use the entire capacity.
And are you sure that s a 64-bit version of Ubuntu? 3.2 GB of memory are typical for the 32 bit OS

  • How to add extra memory for Satellite P100-257

    Hello!

I have a P100-257 with 512 MB memory. How many memory slots on this machine? And if it has 512 MB already - how many slots free rest?

Where is the name of module of memory (specification) for my machine - buy a good?
    Thank you very much.

    Hello

The P100 has memory, two locations where the Module of 512 MB is one of these locations. This means that you have 1 free slot which can be equipped with an additional memory module.

You can also exchange the 512 MB Module and put 2 x 1 GB in your machine. (For example)

And you can buy a Module DDR2 533 Mhz (PC2-4200) or 667 Mhz (PC2-5300) to update your computer.
