Satellite U300 will switch to standby when the lid is closed during shutdown

My U300 is set to go in mode 'sleep' whenever I close the lid, as most of the laptops I use. But when I shut down this computer and close the lid, it goes to sleep Mid-stop!

This means that when I want to stop, I have to wait until it finishes and then when I open it again I have to wait until it stops and starts then, often to see that the battery is almost dead too! Any fix for that?

Hello

To be honest, I don't see any problem there. The same thing happen on my Satellite P200 preinstalled Vista. The process of closing time and if you interrupt close laptop screen, it makes sense that, after you open the Vista will continue stop procedure.

For you, it will be better to make the best configuration of the laptop. Just for example:
-If you want to switch to sleep mode use FN + F3 key combination. After a few seconds, the laptop will be in standby mode and you can close the lid
-Use the power option and choose the option STOP for when I close the lid

On this way, you will have perfectly configured OS for your needs and no problem more. I use the same configuration.

    How can I fix it?

    Thank you.

I guess that your laptop goes into mode standby when the lid is closed.
    Right?

In this case, you must set the option to choose what closing the lid does nothing to

This can be found in the control panel-> Power Options-> in the left column

  • Satellite A100-237 screen remains off when the lid is opened

OK I'll try my best to explain this. My power settings are adjusted so that the computer has no effect when the lid is closed - except for the display, which is turned off and back on when the lid is opened (normal behaviour).

Now, in rare occasions, when I opened the back cover, the screen doesn't come back, unless I close the back cover and open again. It is not a big problem for me at the moment, but I'm afraid that the connections of the screen with the motherboard by the cover have been damaged.

BIOS version 2.00, maybe an update could solve it?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Ataberk,

I think that your problem can be caused by the micro-switch that will detect when the laptop lid is closed. If this switch is in the open position so your screen will remain off even with the lid open. The idea here is that you can get the display by closing and opening the lid again.

  • Laptop will not go to sleep when the lid is closed

    Separated from this thread.

Same problem here. My settings say that my Toshiba will sleep when the lid is closed, but half the time is not asleep and I can feel it's hot and turns on the fan. I am so frustrated with this new laptop and Windows 8.1. Looks like too many bugs in the software or something. More I am working on the new laptop the more problems that I find, like screen discoloration as well. The forums are useless. I do what they say, and the problem is the same. Forget the call from Toshiba. Needless. Nobody will help unless you pay them money to subscribe. What customer service?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your concern here at the Microsoft Community forum. Let me help you with your concern.

This problem may occur because of any change in power on your laptop options. If the default is set to hibernation and standby modes, your laptop goes to sleep when you close the lid, but then the Hibernate timer comes in and wake up your computer first and trying to Hibernate. He cannot go to Hibernate directly from mode 'sleep'. Go into the power settings and either disable hibernation or set the timer on a higher value.

To apply the same setting to all plans:

    1. Open Power Options by pressing the Windows key + X, clicking Control Panel, click system and security, and then clicking Power Options.
    2. On the Select a power plan page, click choose the cover.
    3. On the page define power buttons and turn on password protection , next to when I close the lid, choose what you want your laptop to do, both when it is running on battery and when it's plugged in.
    4. Click on save changes.

Tip: To save battery power and quickly resume working, select sleep. Sleep is a power saving state that allows a computer quickly resume the operation of full power (usually in seconds) when you want to start working again.

To apply a setting to a specific regime:

    1. Open Power Options by pressing the Windows key + X, clicking Control Panel, click system and security, and then clicking Power Options.
    2. On the Select a power plan page, click change plan settings for the plan you want to change.
    3. On the change settings for the plan page, click change advanced power settings.
    4. Advanced settings tab, expand it cover and the Power button, action lid, choose what you want your mobile PC to do when you close the lid, for when it runs on battery and when it is plugged in, and then click OK.

I hope this helps. If you need help with Windows, let us know and will be happy to help you.

    Hello

As far as I know the laptop to stand mode when the lid is closed!
Please check your settings in Vista power options and turn off the lid closing option.

In addition, I would recommend updating the BIOS and the driver of graphics if a newer version is available on the European driver Toshiba page.

  • Satellite U - Vista starts when the lid is closed

    Hello

    The title says it all!

My girlfriend showed me her cell phone yesterday. She manually stop it on the start menu, leave for a few minutes, close the lid, then watches in joy as the computer laptop Springs revive again.

I checked and the judgment indeed makes a stop, not a hibernation or something like that. I also changed the lid closed to "nothing" action and "stop" and I tried various methods to stop this strange behavior. My only solution was to have vista recognize the lid close like a stop action and have this control by turning off the laptop. Unfortunately, my girlfriend is a woman of routine and like to manually turn off the laptop before closing the lid, so my solution is not a long-term one.

One thing that I've seen is that she had managed to install Uniblue Registry Booster. I quickly removed it, but wonder if it could have changed his behaviour of the laptop? Surely the fact if boots up when it is turned off when the lid is closed could not be attributed to Vista or whatever it is that was done for her?

    Thank you

  • NB250 makes scream sound when the lid is closed

    Hi all

I am facing this problem with my laptop NB250.

    Steps to reproduce the problem
    i. internal microphone and speakers are enabled
    II. play some audio.
III. close the lid while the audio is playing.
IV. when the lid is closed (or even when she is brought very close to the keyboard) there is a loud noise.

I went to the shop where I bought the laptop. The technician he said that this sound is done because the microphone is taken directly above the enclosure when the lid is closed.
But I do not think that the sound must be made when the lid is closed.

I should be grateful if the following queries are processed:
    i. This is a problem with only with NB250?
II. is it a common problem with all laptops that have the speakers placed next to the touchpad, which brings the microphone from the speakers when the lid is closed?
III. If there is a problem with my laptop, what should I do to repair/replace?

    Thank you
    Yogesh

    Hi mate

I think you're talking about the sound looping between speaker <->microphone.
I n t have this model laptop but I found an interesting How TO from Toshiba on similar topic. It addresses s L500 series.

    Check this box:
    + Hissing sound +.
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB0402UB0001R01.htm

Disable the microphone volume in the speakers properties and this will help you get rid of these sounds.

I have a laptop HP DV6 7000. The battery doesn't work that when the lid is closed (sleep mode).

  • I can do: sleep when the lid is closed, EXCEPT when an external display is connected?

    Hello

Please let me know if this is possible. Seems to me like a current need, but I can't find a way to achieve this.

I wish that the laptop to sleep when I close the lid (battery / plugged - matter), except when I have a connected external display.

The script is very simple, I prefer to work with an external display, so I don't want or need the lid is open. When I'm on the road, the "sleep when the lid is closed" is a desired behavior.

    Is this possible?

    Thank you

    Roee.

    (1) this function is available in the Apple OS, but not in OS Win.

    (2) but, you can set a custom power plan to do this, so when you connect an external monitor just switch the power around plan. It is the easiest way to get what you want.

  • Computer user connection laptop turns off when the lid is closed

How can I configure my laptop to disconnect the current user (switch not only users) and force them to close all programs when the lid is closed, and then switch to sleep mode?

There is no direct option for this, but you can create a batch file that has orders for logoff, then the command for the night and have that run the trigger of "Lock Workstation".

Task Scheduler allows many triggers.  Type Task Scheduler in your Start menu, and then click New task on the right side to explore your options.
  • T410 connection when the lid is closed

I am portable computers T410 deployment to the field, but users report the network connection drops when they close the lid.  I checked that the PC is not in standby mode.  I have the settings of Thinkvantage Power Manager to do nothing when the lid is closed and allowed InstantResume to stay online for the max of 99 minutes, but which is not helping.  I still adjusted power profile settings to not go to sleep for an hour while on battery.  Laptops running Windows XP Pro x 86.  Any help would be appreciated.

It turns out that the issue was a question of power settings.  Disabling the sleep settings and disabling sleep by closing the lid solves this problem.

  • Inspiron 15R (5537) wake from its slumber when the lid is closed through the usb keyboard/mouse

I have an Inspiron 15R (5537) which has all the latest drivers from Dell BIOS A01 Reference (Windows 8). I have the options of closing the lid set to "do nothing" for the two battery and plugged in, but no matter what I try, when the lid is closed I can't the laptop to wake up via USB keyboard or mouse.
The keyboard and mouse have the wake-up option enabled in the settings of their material.  I also wake up from USB enabled in the BIOS.
What is interesting, is that if I put the computer to sleep with the lid open, I can wake him up from the keyboard or the mouse.  But with the lid closed, the only way to wake up, it should open the cover and press the power button.
Anyone know a solution to this?
    Summary:
Cover open: CAN wake from USB keyboard/mouse.
Cover closed: don't wake up if I open the lid and press the power button.

    Pete,

Depending on where you live, you will have the rights of consumers.  I live in Australia and we have pretty good consumer protection.

I asked Dell - repair, replace it with one that works, or pay back me.

They went away for a few weeks, and when I "called home" a few times, they acknowledged that they could not solve the problem and offered me a full refund. The laptop was picked up yesterday and I expect the refund within about five days. The guy on my "case" has been very professional!

I guess that you informed Dell FORMALLY of the problem via a support ticket?

I did that and followed by chat and phone calls.

Whist, the ability to wake up via USB is not explicitly described in any of their literature, the bios has available and W8.1 has the facility.  they built it all - EXCEPT that they forgot the lid...

    see you soon
