Satellite U400 - 12 p - multimedia keys stopped working

Hello.

multimedia keys on my Satellite U400 - 12 p has recently stopped working.

Turn everything first they get is "stuck" on, a few days ago the resulting work back and later arrested again but this time they "stuck" is off. with the backlight on the keyboard.

I tried to re - install vap, downloaded from support.toshiba.com but now on the 'Toshiba button support' I have same options in the field "name of the button. I tried to manually launch 'dimmer.exe', but it turns out only the touchpad light on.

In addition, anyone knows what are the. MUI files under the folder names language shortened to "c:\program files\toshiba\tbs\en\specapp.exe.mui"?

Thank you!

Hi mor.yg,

Why you didn t post information about your operating system?

In any case, I think that the problem is related to the VAP. In your case I remove it, and then restart the laptop. Use CCleaner to clean the registry and windows and restart again. Then install the latest version on the Toshiba site.

Your laptop is listed on the page of Toshiba Europe, so you should find it here:
http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Also check the BIOS. If you can find an option on the lighting, set it to activate it please.

  • Equium U400-124 easy / multimedia keys stopped working

I recently discovered that the easy keys (soft touch multimedia keys) have stopped working. I've had this laptop for a month and then one day, they stopped resonding they set only occasionally when in a hurry and do not function they are supposed to work. After a recovery of product they started working again and after loading some of my software back on they stopped working again.

To cut a long story short (many recoveries of product!) I took the laptop replacement, now with a new laptop of the same model that the keys have stopped working after one day. I tried the recoveries of new product and it suits it only occasionally but soon stops working again. They don't stop working after you install a specific software and after that I managed to make them work again after based them on everything as many times during the startup. I tried several times re-installation of value-added support package and also to save shortcuts to media to toshiba button in toshiba assist menu to nothing will do.

Does anyone know what could be causing that two of these models, I had so maybe I'm not alone with this problem or know any better drivers for these keys as I suspect, this is some sort of driver problem before I have to take this second laptop back and get a different model now is come / manufacturer?

    Hello

I'm not very well why you Toshiba control buttons were off work of m.
But in my opinion, it would be possible that something (of the 3rd party software application) messed with the registry keys and entries.
What you could try to clean the registry and operating system using the free tool called CCleaner.

On the other hand a new BIOS was published on the page of Toshiba. That's why it should also update the BIOS to the latest state.

    Good luck

  • Satellite A105-S4254: several keyboard keys stop working after startup

    Hey

I have a laptop A105-S4254, which is less than a year.
When I boot it upward a few minutes most of the keys stopped working.
The F keys will however continue to work.
I can laugh with the brightness and activate / disable the num lock and scroll but I can't type.

A number of key just freeze.
When I reboot the keys work for a few minutes and then stop working again.

Please help me with suggestions and solutions.
    Thanx

    Hello

For me, it looks like a hardware problem. Maybe it s the keyboard or keyboard controller itself.
But first, you must be sure that this failure was not due to a software problem.
Therefore, it would be desirable to update the system and install the OS from the Toshiba Recovery CD.

If the keyboard problem appears again, I'd recommend contacting the ASP in your country to control the laptop.

It seems that the guarantee could be valid for all replacements must be done for free.

I have a problem, the first 2 of my multimedia buttons stopped working...
I tried to uninstall several times but it didn't help.

I also have nothing to choose in the list in

I need help. (there were 2 posts before).

    Hello guys

Can you please stop crying here, and perhaps tell us what the problem is here?

Expensive J3... what you are writing about. What operating system do you use? What drivers? What kind of error?
Multimedia keys are not controlled by drivers. What is - that you already tried?

Have you tried with this VAP suggested by Akuma?

  • Touchpad and F9 keys stopped working

The touchpad has stopped working and the F9 key does work more for the touchpad.  How can I fix it?  It's a Toshiba Satellite laptop.  Other F keys still work.  There used to be a drop-down list on the desktop for the F keys, but it doesn't work either.  In the properties of the touchpad driver, disable is grayed out.

    Hello

Toshiba has also map of keys which allow easy adjustment of the TouchPad. See support for Toshiba

Check with the manufacturer of system support, documentation in line, or forums as there probably
are shortcut keys that enable and disable the touchpad functions.

Also check the control - Mouse - touchpad settings panel.

    You can also try this:

You can download but not install the drivers before the the below if you wish.

Panel of configuration manager devices - mouse and pointing devices - Double click on the touch pad-
The driver tab - click on Update Driver (which is may not make anything like MS is far behind certifying)
(drivers), now right CLICK on the touchpad and UNINSTALL.

Then go to the USB and UNINSTALL ALL controllers except the category itself (all in).
REBOOT - it will refresh the driver for the TouchPad and USB stack. This does not prevent the
    Touchpad work.

Here is the similar procedure in XP, Vista is the same, except that we need to clear the specific
    device if present.
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310575

Then go to the website of the manufacturer of system (Toshiba downloads - access your model - listed above)
and get the latest touchpad drivers.

Download - SAVE - go to where you put it-click on - RUN AS ADMIN.

    I hope this helps.

  • Why my Fn key stopped working?

I have a laptop Asus G73JH and the Fn key stopped working.  I tried reinstalling the drivers, update drivers, etc, and nothing has worked.  Any suggestions?

In the meantime, find a work around. ASUS maybe provided a utility to exchange the keys F1 - F12 to be multimedia to be again the function keys control keys & back if necessary]. This would reduce your need for the Fn key.

In a Valley, this utility is in Control Panel as a dialog Windows Mobility Center updated the. Try looking first in case they all are the same way.

  • Some keys stop working after the update of the Sierra (only for a specific profile)

After update to Sierra my keyboard worked well for a while.  But at random, U I O P J K L keys stopped working.

The bug only shows 1 profile. If I create another profile new profile keyboard works very well.

Anyone know what that sometimes caused that and with the fix is?

    Hello ExcelsiorPath,

After reviewing your post, it seems that several keys do not work on a single profile. This looks like an option that may have been changed.  I recommend you to read this article, it may be able to help solve the problem.

If the other keys do not work

You may have accidentally set an option that changes your keyboard works.

    • Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, click Accessibility, and then click keyboard. Make sure that slow keys is turned off. If slow keys is enabled, you will need to keep a key longer than usually before it is recognized.

    • Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, click Accessibility, and then click mouse and Trackpad. Make sure that the mouse keys is turned off. If the mouse keys is enabled, pressing the keys in the numeric keypad moves the pointer instead of entering the numbers.

    • Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, click keyboard, and then click input methods. Select "Show the menu in the menu bar." Open the menu entry, then make sure that the correct keyboard layout is selected.

To display the keyboard layout, click keyboard, and then choose "See the viewers for emoji keyboard symbols in the menu bar."
