As far as I know that lighting can be turned off in the BIOS.
Access the BIOS (press F2 during the laptop power) and turn off the light. Then save the changes and restart the laptop.

    Hi mor.yg,

Why you didn t post information about your operating system?

In any case, I think that the problem is related to the VAP. In your case I remove it, and then restart the laptop. Use CCleaner to clean the registry and windows and restart again. Then install the latest version on the Toshiba site.

Your laptop is listed on the page of Toshiba Europe, so you should find it here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

Also check the BIOS. If you can find an option on the lighting, set it to activate it please.

    Hello!

Lighting you can enable/disable in the BIOS. There you should find an option to do this and it should be set to activate.

But as far as I know the keyboard, there is no lighting. It is possible that the touchpad and multimedia keys between the screen and the keyboard.

  • Satellite C50-A133 - language bar shortcut keys keep reset automatically

    Hello!

I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite C50-A133 with 8.1 for Windows 64-bit (the system of English UK language) of the United Kingdom. So far I have not had major problems with Windows 8.1 but an annoying problem keeps coming back.

There are currently 12 languages/installed input methods, which some I have assigned shortcuts keyboard, Ctrl + number or Ctrl + Shift + number.

After the system boots, they work fine, but after a while becomes disabled without me aware to have done anything to turn them off. The only thing I can do is to open the menu language preferences and assign shortcuts again.

They disappeared in the menu language of shortcut keys, specifically each shortcut that I put has changed 'None '. This happens after a while little matter what I use the computer for.

Restart the system always back to my settings shortcuts but working with computer for a while turns them off. I use Avast, Malwarebytes, Auslogics BoostSpeed and Windows Defender regularly, as well as CCleaner at startup. I don't think it's one of these the origin of the problem, as happens when none of them scan as well. Using the Windows key + tab bar to change the input language works very well also.

All languages are displayed and can be activated in this way. It's just the shortcut keys that keep disappearing. It is not a huge problem but can be troublesome when needing to switch between 2 or 3 languages quickly without having to scroll through all 12 of them. If someone has had this problem and is there a way to fix it?

I have already explained this problem to Microsoft.
They had no solution that worked and he suggested, it was a hardware problem and I need to contact Toshiba instead.

    Thank you!

To be honest I don't know if I understand your problem, but I know first boot after laptop computer purchase, you can set the keyboard input language and that s it Mr. of course you can also change it and add some other input languages.

To me, it seems crazy that 12 languages are available as installed services. Who did this?

Can you please tell us how it all started? I mean I guess you use UK layout only and English as an input language. The problem with 12 languages seems crazy to me. Have you tried to change something? Have you tried to delete all the other languages?

Hardware problem? I don't know what think of Microsoft on this issue, but there is a simple way to check this. Reinstall the original recovery image and check how it works with the factory settings.

  • Satellite U400-15B hangs on the Internet and make multimedia keys touch

    Hi all

Had two problems with my U400-15B which I hope to solve.

    (1) the first problem is that I noticed that my internet sometimes seems to weigh on Internet Explorer, when using the Web site who have a couple of images e.t.c.
It freezes but the rest of the laptop works very well - I want to say you can go to the start menu and other programs very well. However, if you open Microsoft Word, while this is the case, it will take a little more time to load than normal upward. Anyone know what this might be or how I can fix this problem?

I use Vista Home Premium 32-bit and the laptop has 4 GB of RAM / thus, Intel Centrino 2 P7350 - is powerful enough.

    (2) the second problem is that when I press the 'sound' button, the white lights and the white bar above the touchpad become informed. When I press on it again once the lights come back but he is not mute. Only when the laptop is put in standby mode and then woke up once again, the key work properly. All the others work fine. Does anyone know what is the cause?

I exchanged this laptop 3 times now and each of them did question (2), but surely this isn't normal.

Any help or advice to address these problems are very much appreciated.

    Thank you

    (1) have you tested a different internet browser? For example, Firefox.
I use Firefox for years and never had any problems with it. I like Firefox over Internet Explorer, it s faster and you will get a lot of modules useful for her ScrapBook.

    (2) have tried to update the BIOS? Look on the Toshiba site to find a newer version:

  • Satellite U400-138 - how to activate special keys?

    Hello

the problem for the subject [Satellite U400 - 138 Volume - software problem wheel | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=148001] I found a stupid bug in the software Toshiba Satellite U400-138 special keys. There is no way to fight them!

In the Toshiba Satellite U400-138 model I have 6 special buttons: drive, CDDVD, and "Play/Pause", "stop", 'rev back', 'rev forw. Using of the * Toshiba Assist * I have control over TWO of them - there is a list of TWO in the bottom of the * settings button * program - I can choose between the drive and CDDVD. In addition, this program do... nothing! I tested if I can open Notepad with this CDDVD button, but I couldn't. The program closes, and even after restarting the touch CDDVD always opens Windows Media Player. * And four other buttons are not active at all! * How can I join a program? Which program is the other 4 button use? They seems interesting, especially with LED lighting for * drive *, but in my opinion * there is no way to use them *!

    Are they useless?

    Any suggestions?

    Concerning

    Jacek.

They are certainly not useless. Do you really believe that Toshiba will offer unnecessary buttons? ;)

Have you tested the feature with the factory settings? It works properly with the Toshiba recovery image? I have the same buttons on my Satellite and everything works perfectly. I use Winamp too. No problem at all. So I wonder what you do with your laptop.

In your ad, I can not even find information what operating system you are using.

  • Question of shortcut keys in Word on Satellite A110-195

I recently bought a new Satellite computer and installed Windows Office purchased separately. For some reason, shortcut keys, I've used for years on other computers are different on the new machine.

For example, I've always known 'save' to be CTRL + S. On this computer, now is SHIFT + F12. I am aware that I can change the settings of each key individually, but surely there must be a way to change the settings somewhere on the machine to return to more conventional keystrokes.

I have been searching around the internet for some tips on how to do it but came up with nothing.

Anyone out there able to help?

    Hello

    It's very strange and inexplicable
I never heard that the shortcut keys may change the feature itself.
I have also studied a little, but I was not successfully ;(

  • Satellite Z930 - AltGr key change keyboard shortcut keys

    Hi all

on my Z930 satellite with German keyboard (Switzerland), the alt gr key does not allow access to the additional characters (such as @, which is accessible in AltGr + 2), but instead transforms all the keys in shortcut keys (for example type n would open a new web browser window).

Is anyone know about this problem and how to disable this behavior? (it's quite boring change the layout always in en - us just typing a tank...)

    Thank you very much!

    Beat

Similar is with the British and the United States where symbols and @ n different positions.

You simply test that works from the combination of keys correctly. I have GB keyboard and when I turn it on in German (Switcerland) symbol @ I can get if I use ALT GR + 2 key combination.

Doesn't work on your Satellite too?

  • Command buttons and lights not working not properly - Satellite U400

I am currently facing a problem with my Satellite U400, which runs under Windows Vista / Bios v3.00.
First, the control buttons no longer work, as when I press on them, nothing more. It was that when you press on, the LED lights for a while and then come back to life.

Now, LEDS are constantly lit. Even when the laptop is turned off and the cable is removed.

So far, I tried to turn on and turn off the LED option in the Bios (that is turned on and off the LED on the touchpad and the logo of Satellite, but not on the control buttons). I uninstalled and reinstalled the Value Pack from recovery CD - no change. I deleted and reinstalled the Windows called devices: ACPI fixed feature button (thought this might help).

Is there anything else I could do?

Once the problem is resolved, I wonder if the command buttons can be customized. For some reason I do not seem to find the appropriate program to set those.

    Thanks for any input.

    Hello

    Someone suggested this work around:
You must install the utility to control on the one hand, and where to install the value Pack, choose Advanced Options and uncheck the Support Button TOSHIBA.

    Welcome them

  • Re: Satellite Pro U400 - 13G: software uninstalled - FN keys do not work

The other day I uninstalled many programs standard of his Toshiba Satellite U400 - 13G, because it has been very slow in implementing.
But now I realized that his FN hotskeys does not work.

I tried to look in the support forum and the list of drivers, but I can't find the answer.

So the question is what program/driver should I install to get the keyboard shortcuts to work again. It is running vista 32 bit.

    Best looks Anders vangsgaard

    Hello

Well buddy. For the future I'll give you a tip ;)
Never remove any parts/software if you n t know what they are for ;)

The Satellite Pro U400 - 13G seems belongs to the PSU45E series.
Choose this model number to download driver form Toshiba Europe.
Then download the package of value added.

To reinstall this PPV you will need to remove the preinstalled old VAP.
Do it and after rebooting again to install the new downloaded package added value.

In my view, that the FN buttons should then work.

  • Satellite U400 - problems with the Panel, the touch and media keys

Hello, I have the TOSHIBA Satellite U400. Everything's a lot but I have some concerns.

    1. the touch screen (media buttons on the top of the keyboard - mute-media-play/pause-stop-rewind-forward-) turn
the computer running if you touch! How to stop that from happening? I only need to use the POWER button.
Start button / stop is sufficient.

    2. press MUTE on the touchscreen, no its not really "mute" or "disable." Instead, she don't
is the Tower the White Glow Light for all Touch Panel ON and OFF (including the word "SATELLITE").
How can I make it works?

    3. When you connect to Windows, I can choose between the password or RECOGNITION of FACES. How do I
Assign the FACIAL RECOGNITION only without having to choose it?

    Thank you

    SAL :)

    Hello Sal

I played around with this stuff and here is my opinion on this subject.

    (1) as far as I know there is nothing strange. I noticed the same thing on notebooks too. For example, if you want to listen to music, you can simply press PLAYER button (3rd from left) and begins at will for laptop and open windows media player. If you want to go on the internet you can simply press INTERNET ((deuxieme button on the left). Laptop will be put into construction and Internet Explore will be open.
So there is nothing strange, and even get on my Satellite P200 and brand-new Satellite A300.
To be honest I don't know if this can be disabled. I'll ask a friend of mine. It is monster of Toshiba and maybe he knows more about it. But this behavior is certainly not strange.

If you want to use only the power button and then press power button to start. Do not touch the other.

    (2) Please check s operating manuals and look for info on this button. AFAIK it is clearly written Mute or LED on / off depending on the model you purchased, press this button to mute the sound or turn on or off the illumination of the logo of the brand, touchpad and buttons.
So please do not mix anything. This button has no two options. On your model, you can disable illumination only. It is the same on my laptop. So there is nothing wrong with your laptop.

    (3) you also misunderstood this feature. If face recognition is activated the two options will be displayed. If you do not want to enter a password you can use the option of face recognition. But what you will do if for some reason your face may not be identified correctly. How you want to connect?

So, please don't be irritated by these things, everything is OK.
