I have download several times because I think to choose the correct driver, but the problem even if I need help

    Thank you all

    Hello

As far as I know the laptop uses Intel WLan 5100AGN map and audio chip Conexant CX20561.

The WLan driver can be downloaded here:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

Audio driver can be downloaded from the page of European driver of Toshiba.

It is important that you install all service packs of Microsoft and patches before install you the audio driver.
SP3 must be installed before you try to install the audio driver.
SP3 contains necessary fixes that are important.

  • Satellite A300 PSAG0A: Vista to XP downgrade question

I just bought a Satellite A300 with the following details:

Model satellite A300/Y00 (exclusive to Dikc Smith Electronics in Australia)
    PSAG0A-02Y009
    2.1 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo T8100
    2 GB RAM DDR2 (667 MHz)
    250 GB SATA HARD drive
    Graphics Intel X 3100 (GM965)
MS Windows Vista Business pre installed
MS WIndows XP downgrade for A300 recovery disk media

Basically, I just turned on and configure everything, nothing about that fact yet, not even other software installed.
I immediately made 2 copies of the recovery of the product for Vista media. So the disc XP and Vista should have all the drivers on them.

I want to install a software particularly (for programming electronic components), but the company said that it is not fully compatible with Vista. Therefore, I would like to downgrade to XP and use it for 6 to 12 months, and later POSSIBLY roll back to Vista.

Now, the information provided by Toshiba are limited with respect to the downgrading to XP. (And there is absolutely nothing about to go back to Vista).
The documentation provided shows four options at retirement:
    1) recover to out-of-box-state,.
    (2) covers the single State of Windows,
    (3) recover without changing hard disk partitions,
    4) recover on a custom size partition. He then goes on to say "Please do not select 'Recover without changing the partitions of hard drive' as a method of recovery." Windows XP cannot be used by the composition of the partition of Windows Vista".

First of all, what are the ramifications of the other options? What is the best/worst one and why?

If I understand correctly, the partitioning of the hard drive must be changed for the downgrade to XP.
But in Vista, there is a separate partition to store data recovery, so that the partition will be changed (lost).
If ever I decide to go back to Vista, the Vista recovery media I created also change the partitioning to the way it was originally?

I dared not touch anything until I'm 100% sure of what needs to be done.
If anyone has any experience with this or advice, I would be grateful for your expertise.
Feel free to be as detailed and technical that you like - I want to 'understand' and not just 'do '.

    Thanks in advance,
    Robert.

    Hi Robert

I put t have Satellite A300 and I don t have an Australian notebook but I m, owner of another European model Satellite with preinstalled Vista operating system!
In any case, I want to share my experience with Vista and XP and of course the recovery procedure on E

First I noticed that the new notebook series is not delivered with the Toshiba Recovery CD but the image recovery is store on the HARD drive and you can create and burn image from own DVD.
    Seems that you already have.

As you already suggested the Vista supports 2 different partitions. A partition is the system partition and the partition of the other, smaller, hidden was created for Vista backup files. So if something goes wrong with your Vista operating system, you can use the repair function on Vista to repair the operating system. In this case, small backup partitions, hidden in necessary.

I also like Xp and that's why I installed it on my laptop. I didn't format t disc installed HARD but the XP on a new created partition.
You can create a partition in Vista's disk management.
In any case, I now have a dual boot OS and I use Vista and XP.

    With regard to the use of the Vista DVD recovery;
If you want to go back to Vista, you will need to boot from the Toshiba Recovery CD and the Vista installation process should begin.
But be aware that the Vista recovery CD would format the whole HARD drive.
It would erase the partitions and remove stored data.
Therefore, you must back up your data before that you would use the recovery CD!

Hope this little info will help you.

    Good bye

  • Satellite U400-144 - Vista cannot return

    Hello everyone

I got this new Toshiba Satellite U400-144 (PSU40E), came with Vista home and worked really well until I decided to install Linux. Everything was going fine until I had my HARD drive partitions, when I deleted my 1.5 GB partition, which is called partition EISA!

I don't know how to get it back, no disc don't came with the laptop and Vista no longer exists and I can't get it back.
Quite simply when I boot I get a message: LACK of OPERATING SYSTEM

Can anyone tell how to get this score again?
Please help and thanks in advance :)

    Hello!

First, the EISA partition do you mean don't contain Vista installation files or let's say the recovery disc. The EISA partition contains files for restore systems and it is a feature of Vista, not Toshiba.
With the recovery disk, you would be able to get the factory settings, this means an installation of Vista with all the drivers and tools of Toshiba.

The only way to return Vista is a Toshiba Recovery disk. Go to a local ASP or you can order one directly from Toshiba.

    Good bye

  • Satellite U400-124 - Vista does not so how can I access data?

I have a problem with my U400-124 loading Vista. It has a blue error screen when you try to start windows. It happens with the startup repair program, but it does not work. This is why I have a question, unless someone can help with the above.

I have restore disks, but I have to get the data on the hard drive. Is it possible to remove the hard drive, place it in an external enclosure, and copy the data I need. Then place the drive hard back in and start the restoration process?

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, it's not a problem and you can do it.

I did the same thing on my laptop satellite. It is fairly easy because the HARD drive is removed in minutes and so I can save all my data on my other laptop.

These adapters USB disk HARD 2.5 SATA are not expensive. Ask your local computer dealer or eBay search. I bought my adapter on eBay.

    Good luck!

  • Vista - icon scrolling on Satellite U400

    Help!

I just bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite U400 under Vista Premium, and when I use it, a small icon appears which I think might have something to do with the scrolling of the elements.
It drives me crazy. Does anyone know how to disable it please?

    Hello

Have you already checked all the settings of the mouse? He should be here (virtual scrolling). What do you think?

  • Satellite U400 - I confused speed up my system - removed desktop.ini icon

Some time ago I moved (or deleted) a desktop.ini icon.
This changed the way files/documents are stored on my computer.

I get a lot of shortcuts that I did not do and seem to not be connected to anything.
There are a lot of ntuser.ini and NTUSER. Icons DAT in different folders.

The files are duplicated, and appear in paces I put them.
No document is missing, but it takes time to find them; the logic of the production system seems to be lost.

How to restore the original system? I don't remember when I made this mistake, and I wonder if I did a system restore or something like that could happen to all the software that I subsequently towards the down loaded.

I'm not very expert in computers, as you may have guessed.

I have Satellite U400 and Vista.

    Hello

Have you tried using Windows Vista system restore? You can set the operating system goes back to an earlier era. Therefore, you must go into the advanced boot menu, select fix my computer, and then click System Restore.

In the worst cases, you reinstall the full operating system. You can use the function of HARD drive recovery or the Toshiba Recovery disk you burning?

    Good luck!

  • Satellite U400 - can connect but the web pages are not displayed

I have Toshiba Satellite U400 with Vista. I can't access the internet via the wireless network in my home.

My computer connects with the network and the signal is excellent but Internet explorer is never able to display the web page. I followed the instructions to diagnose connection problems. I reset the network connection Windows network adapter, as suggested. He said while there still seems to be a problem with your connection, he tried a repair but the problem persists. He cannot communicate with the first DNS Server (212.77.192.59).

My colleagues can access the internet with their computer, and I had no problem recently with connecting to other wireless networks in cafes and hotels.
    Can anyone help?

Have you tried another browser like Firefox or have you only tried only Internet Explorer?

You have DHCP or a static IP address? If you have DHCP make you you get the DNS server address automatically.
If you have a static IP address, you must change the DNS address.

In addition, you should try to update the driver for your laptop WiFi. See the Toshiba WLAN portal for an update:

  • Satellite U400 - how to return to the format of partition with HDD Recovery

    Hello

I bought a new notebook Satellite U400 with Vista Home preinstaled thereon.
I went through the initial configuration and once it was done, I realized that making the partitions of HARD drive does not fit my needs.

So I resised the partition of 'Vista' (acctually I shrunk it) and made the largest partition of 'Data'.
I did not do anything with the hidden partition.

Unfortunately, when I did this procedure I formatted the 'Data' partition.
Now, when I want to make the backup with TOSHIBA Recovery Disc Creator DVD I got the error message saying that it is not possible because I formatted the 'Data' partition.

Is there a suggestion how to fix this error?
The system's fine, the only thing is that I'm not able to save and restore the operating system.

    Thanks Vecerka

It wasn't good buddy. If you deleted the partition of HARD drive recovery, then you would not be able to restore it!

Now, you need a new DVD of recovery!
You can order using this Toshiba page:

  • Satellite U400-03 s - how downgrade from Vista to XP?

    Hi guys,.

I bought laptop Toshiba Satellite U400/03 s with pre-installed Vista Business and I want to downgrade to Windows XP Professional. My laptop comes with a professional the product for Windows XP Recovery disk, but I don't know how to use this drive as it did not come with serial number.

Where can I get the serial number? I have to ring Microsoft or Toshiba?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you very much.

    Sunny

    Hello

AFAIK the downgrade is fairly easy: just boot from the disk of XP downgrade that was shipped with your laptop and follow the instructions on the screen and that s all you have to do! :)

You n t need a serial number, if you install the operating system on a disk from Toshiba. It s already configured.

  • Satellite U400 - Downgrade from Vista to XP

    Hello guys,.

I recently bought a laptop Toshiba Satellite U400/03 s with a pre-installed version of Vista business & do not like. It came with a recovery disk for Windows XP Pro product. This confused me a bit. Can I downgrade Vista Business with XP Pro?

My next question is, if I can downgrade to XP Pro I need registry XP with Mircosoft?

Also, if I do not need to register with Mircosoft XP, where can I get the registration key of?

    Greatly forward a response.

    Thank you very much.

    Normand

    Hello

A downgrade from Vista to XP is possible. Why not?
But as far as I know, so you need to reinstall the full specifications but in my opinion, this isn't a problem because you have the XP Recovery disk. Just boot from it and follow the instructions on the screen.

But before that, you you should burn the Windows Vista recovery disk. How do you know this? You need to start only the Toshiba recovery disc creator and you need a blank DVD. Then the Vista recovery disk will be created, and if you want new Vista, you must start only on this disc. That s all because it contains the settings factory and if all the drivers and tools of Toshiba.

If you have installed XP you must register it on Microsoft. It is not necessary.
AFAIK, you must enter a product key. It of already on the recovery disk.

  • Slow start on Vista Home Premium - Satellite U400-15B

    Hello

I just bought Satellite U400-15B and am finding it takes very long to start Vista, I went into msconfig and disabled the things I don't use and stuff that I think is not necessary, but it is still having to wait ages before that I can use the laptop. I have enough RAM and processor speed, so I don't think that the specifications of the laptop are a problem

Is there something that can be done on this slow start, any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Hello

I think slow start or laptop slow operations depend on good configuration of the OS. I played with this last month and I am now convinced that Vista starts and runs on my laptop.
I wrote about this in another thread and if you have time look under http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=134947

Please let me know what you think of this.
