When I start my computer, I get a black screen when I log in the menu. I can still access the computer on safe mode, but I can't find a solution. Antivirus Avira found no detection, so I don't think that's associated virus.
Follow these steps to try to solve your problems of boot.
Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.
Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...
Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.
If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

I'm afraid that I may have problems of compatibility between the version of the OS and SDK Webworks... I was using my computer yesterday and it started to freeze all of a sudden, I held the power button and turn off. Today, I don't then restart.
I have two options:
1 repair Windows
2 start Windows normally
If I choose option 1, it loads the Windows files and then gets to a black screen with nothing on it where I can move the mouse. If I choose option 2, it is "loading Windows" screen and stays there.
The black screen occurs if I try to boot into Safe Mode, repair windows, or start from another version of Windows 7 that I have on CD.

If you have important data on your computer, you should do this to make a backup of these files. I would recommend so buy an external HARD drive enclosure where you can put in the HARD drive to backup all the files on another computer.
But I think that I will never understand why some people don't have a backup. I think it s the most important thing and always make from time to time.
In any case, it seems your Windows installation is confusing upward and, therefore, it of needed to restore the Toshiba Recovery disk factory settings, but the it will delete everything on the HARD drive.

Maybe you accidentally switched the display on an external monitor? :|
Have you tried to use the FN + F5 key combination to return the display on the laptop?
In addition, I would recommend linking the external monitor to the laptop to check if something appears on a second external display.
If this does not help with this strange problem I would recommend contacting the ASP in your country. Maybe, display works really bad and a very small part or whole LCD screen needs to be replaced
Already fixed the problem of black screen FF33 in navigation regular uncheck "use hardware acceleration" in the options in safe mode, but the problem persists when you use Kaspersky sandboxing feature, 'sure money.' led screen have a HP Pavilion 22xi. It is a year and no warranty left. He started to go to a black screen when you use it. I have to unplug the monitor for the display. the power light lights up but won't stop him. I saw a few ppl having the same problem, without success to get this resolved. I tried external monitor on another laptop and have the same problem. I replaced the AC adapt power and also downloaded the drivers for the monitor. It's very frustrating. Since I bought my M40X 141 in July 2005, I got black screen frequently when you use the wifi.
You know this black screen with typical noise from the hard drive.
I did all the updates without effect. The local seller understood nothing black screen, associated with the use of wifi.
In the XP world, nobody seems to find this kind of abnormal things so I'm desperate to find a solution to stop the frequent black screens. Recently try a usb dlink wifi dongle (dwl-G122) the constant flow of black screens disappeared
(An Xp session 10 days was previously impossible).
Now, I know this is a bug in the original software and I try desespartely to find a patch or updated driver or professional advice.

Your laptop should still be guaranteed if you bought in June 2005. Take it to your authorized Service Provider nearest and have their say. They should already provide for a procedure for this and know what to do. Sure the frequency that uses WIFI and display inverter coincides, and you get the black screen.
