Satellite U405 - pressing the keys of enlightenment start the laptop

When the computer turned off, if I touch the light keys / multimedia, the computer starts.

This is especially problematic because the computer starts even when I just close the lid (because illuminaton keys are activated by the lid itself).
Any suggestions? If not how to solve the problem, could you please tell me how to turn them off?

I don't think you can turn it off. If the button is feeling a press when you close the lid, perhaps the jury of the sensor must be replaced.

I would like to send the laptop to an authorized Service provider to get that replaced part. There is a list of the ASP on the Toshiba site in the support section.

    Hello

I found this tip in the forum:
If the laptop uses a Toshiba BIOS this:
When the TOSHIBA logo is shown, be very fast and press the ESC key several times.
You should get an error message and press F1 to enter BIOS.
Search mode power-up (or something very similar). Set it to BOOT.

In addition, you can try to access the BIOS and set the BIOS settings by default and safe change.
    Maybe it helps.

    Hello Chris

The laptops are designed to operate without brakes. Prerequisite for this is that the unit must be positioned correctly and nothing should be placed on the movement of air way. The unit is cooled properly on this path.

The cooling fan is active only if necessary and it is controlled by sensors on the motherboard. Unfortunately there is no separate specification on the cooling fans.

  • Satellite U405 - external USB number pad issue

    Hello.

I bought an external USB Numpad in my Satellite U405. The problem is that when I turn on the NUM LOCK key in the keypad external operates in the laptop too, when I type U I O J K L, for example, I get 4 5 6 1 2 3. I got the combination, I need to press FN + F10, new FN + F10, then NUM LOCK in the external numeric keypad, and I normally use the keys U, I O J K l I tested in some laptops and I have this problem, it's just with the Satellite U405. Every time when I start Windows I do the combination to get things work until the next start/stop.

I really need help, I tried many things, except the BIOS update, that I will use for the last shot.

  • Satellite Pro L500 - press Fn key blocks the laptop computer to blue screen

    Hi all
First post so please ask if I did not include all the necessary information.

I have the Satellite Pro L500-1TX (Win 7 32 bit os) and everything worked fine including the Fn menu drop-down button.

Now, whenever I press the Fn key, it blocks the laptop to a blue screen. The computer then restarts automatically and that it was an unplanned shutdown offers the usual safe mode option.

Unfortunately, I do not know when this started as I do not use the fn often hesitate so just do a system restore. I don't know how far back to go. It was several weeks before I associated accidents hit the Fn key.

Any suggestions as to which Toshiba drivers may need to be reinstalled. The computer otherwise works fine.

    Cheers in advance

  • Satellite P875 - need to press the FN button to use the function keys?

    Hello

I have a W7 Satellite P875 running and something weird just started to happen.

My F1 - F12 keys and reverse obtained special functions.
I used to need only press the buttons for special functions and now I need to press "Fn" otherwise I get the regular F1 - F12 options.

I checked the system at startup and then setting it always says the special functions are those by default, but this isn't the case. I tried switching between the keys F1 to F12 and special functions as value by default, but little matter I do only the keys F1 to F12 are the default ones.

Any solution or any driver I have to re - install to make it back to normal?

I must say at the same time, I started having problems with my iTunes library with conflicts, I think with my AVG Antivirus. Suffice to say where there is a known conflict between AVG and the system that could influence that. I was also messing around aound with msconfig to try to sort that conflict but I returned to the way it was then it should not be the cause.

    Hello

This is controlled in the BIOS as well as it can be changed in the settings of ToshibaHW.

Also, go into the BIOS press F2 at the beginning.
Now choose Advaced and here you will see the point of the System Configuration.
Go ahead and finally you will see the option called:

    * Function Mode button (without pressing the FN key) *.

  • Satellite L550-1CW does not start by pressing the power button / stop

I have a Toshiba Satellite L550-1cw that won't start, lights up when I press the power button all the lights at the front, the fan starts and he is looking for a HARD drive for about 2 seconds and then stops.

I tried a new HARD drive, but the same happens.
I was told that all this must be ignored and buy a new one that is not an option.
I love this laptop and want to run again as this is the best I have ever owned.

    Help, please

    Andrew

Can you give us more information on this vulnerability?
You see something on the screen after pressing the power button?
You can access the BIOS by pressing the F2 key immediately after switching on the device?

Despite this whole issue, I think that if nothing is visible on the screen it could be a serious problem with one of the following: RAM modules, motherboard, CPU/GPU.

From my experience the RAM memory modules are not very expensive (2nd hand might be good enough) and the replacement isn t very delicate in the case where the faulty memory causes this problem, the laptop could be set for a little money.

But in case of problems of motherboard, laptop repair procedure could be very expensive.

  • I can't start with Satellite P10 by pressing the power button more

I can't start my Satellite P10 by pressing the power button more.
Sometimes, very rarely its starts when I hold the power button for a while say 10 seconds.

I tested the power supply and a battery to my friends P10 (of the same type) and both work very well.

So it must be a problem with the key.
    No idea what to do?

    Thanks for any help

    The best.

    Tobias

If it s a button or a power supply electronic problem, then you can't do anything.
In this case assistance by the technicians of laptop would be necessary.

    But the next time that you should try this option if the laptop turns on not;
Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter from the laptop for about 30 min.

After this short period of time to reconnect the two parts and check if the laptop could start.

    Good luck

  • Satellite Pro M40: computer stops when you press the SHIFT key

Sometimes when I press the shift key it wonder if I want to shut down the computer. It also changes the internet Explorer mode in full screen. When it arrives it will be continually for centuries and then suddenly stop. Then start again. It seems not to happen at any given time. I disabled the hot key in the Toshiba utility and which comes to the top of the Tower stops when I pressed the SHIFT key, it does not give me the option.
It's really annoys me because I can't just think what to do.

    Thank you

    Hello

It's very strange. It is the first time I heard about this issue.
As much as I know the Toshiba utility cannot add additional functions to shift and make this key as a stop button.
I have gift? don't know if you have installed the 3rd party applications that can change the keyboard feature, but you should check this possibility.

In addition can also be a defective hardware. Maybe something wrong with the keyboard controller. But of course the diagnostic test is necessary.

  • Satellite Pro C870-172: how to use the Fn keys by pressing the FN key

I recently bought a Satellite Pro C870-172 and I found that the FN key is used by default.

I mean that if I need to use the normal F1 or F2 key, I have to press "FN" + F1 or F2 etc... otherwise I get the function of toshiba. which would be fine, but in a lot of technical programs, I need to use the normal F1 F2... touch!

is there a way to reverse the default system so that when I press the F1 key, I get the F1 function and when I press FN + F1, I get the toshiba service?

    Thank you

    M2

Yes, go to the BIOS by pressing F2
Now switch to the Advanced tab, and then open the System Configuration.
Here you will see the option called: mode of the function (without pressing Fn first) key
    This option should be disabled.
